Hi all, posting on here as a distraction technique...had a horrid night with C last night, after being awake with her an hour then finally giving in and feeding her a 2nd middle of the night bottle, I then lay awake for over an hour, unable to get back to sleep.... so feel that d*cking about on the laptop for 15 mins is less bad than going to sleep whilst Cass is napping!
reastie if it were me, I'd give it to her but if its going to make you worry then dont bother!
blizy and wiggles hurrah to the meet up! Hope it all goes well and please post on here with the full lowdown!
Speaking of, I dragged Ms ponyo out for a couple of cocktails on Friday which was nice - but she was sensible enough to go home before I was persuaded by DPs work husband to go to a cheesy gay club and dance to One Direction....the shame.
deb I shall join in the admiring comments about your running, you are a bit fab actually.
delia Good luck with interview!
OK, I am going to have a cup of tea with a diet Coke chaser, maybe that will perk me up a bit....grr to wakey babies. Hi to everyone I've missed x

Tarlia · 30/01/2012 13:27

Blitzy I'm sorry to hear about AF :( I'm sure it will happen soon. Z is good thank you, though he has a horrible virus right now. I'm not great, but will get there I'm sure.

Ponyo Def not trying yet in my current state, but we've been toying with the idea of four.. I must be insane as it was an awful pregnancy, but they all can't be that bad, right!? Z also cries in his sleep, but the most annoying is, he stands in his sleep and wakes himself up Shock

I'm totally jealous of all the sausage talk, we can't buy good ones here at all.

reastie botulism cannot be killed by normal home cooking methods as they temperature needs to be very high for over 30 min, we do not give it to babies as they are not big enough to cope with these spores - but A is almost 1year now, I tend to become more relaxed about these things if its only a little as the chances are very slim, but its your call of course. Let us know if it tastes like pudding too!

americanexpat · 30/01/2012 13:34

reastie - I'd probably risk it like Delia. As she said, it's such a low risk anyway and she's very nearly a year old. Can you heat her portion to a higher temp, if that'd make you feel better?

blizy - Sad at AF. The waiting and hoping is so difficult when you're SO ready to have a baby, especially when it was so easy to get preg with Zoe. I have my fingers crossed that it'll happen soon for you.

L seems to just pack away the food usually. I made the veg nuggets in a mini muffin tin (about 1 inch radius) and he ate 4 for lunch on Saturday. I just feed him until it gets thrown on the floor. He has a bit of a tummy but he's always been on the 50th centile for weight. He's constantly on the move though, so he must burn it off.

americanexpat · 30/01/2012 13:40

Oh, forgot to say that DH called to L from another room last night and L looked around and said, "Da da." :)

Tarlia - I'm feeling massively broody right now. I think we may be aiming to have another baby soon, once DH's job is sorted. Shock I loved being pregnant and had an easy pregnancy though.

debka · 30/01/2012 17:24

Back later but lax mum alert- S has yoghurt, banana and honey most evenings and has done for a week or so Blush She is one next week though

blizy · 30/01/2012 18:27

wiggles I arrive on friday at 5.45pm and leave Sun at 2.30pm. We could have coffee on Sun?

mizk Boo to your bad night! Hope C is better tonight.

tarlia poor Z, hope he is well soon. Remember we are here if you ever need to get things off your chest.

american Clever Leo!

reastie · 30/01/2012 18:39

blizy and wiggles please take photos of meet up Grin

Well, I gave Alice a dumpling from the honey laden stew but was too scared to give her the stew itself Blush . Stew wasn't v nice tbh - won't be making that again Grin [burp] deb you're not lax - I'm just a fully fledged pfber.

mizk hope Cass sleeps well tonight

OK, so I measured Alices height earlier on the chart in the red books - no wonder all her trousers are too long - she's on the 0.4th centile for height Shock

ledkr · 30/01/2012 20:24

Blush Dilly has honey sarnies,i didnt know tbh.
Had a bad night with Dills last night she woke at 4 and dh got up but it was so noisy i went down too but then he went to go back to bed so i got annoyed cos i had work and he didnt.Ended up not being able to go back to sleep even when he had her so had a hellish day at work with a headache and falling asleep in meetings.
blizy i think i told you before but i got pg very easily with my first 4 miscarried the 4th and then it took 2 years to get pg,i couldnt believ it and was convinced something was wrong and its true that when i kind of gave up i was suddenly preggers.
Dh had a nice day today socialising with annoying colleague at toddlers Hmm I am so proud of him for taking her.
reastie I think Dills is short, she looks so tiny still.
When are we having our next meeting then Brum girls?Im up there on the 3rd March for drinking purposes Grin Maybe ill be on time this time and we can go somewhere warmer.

ledkr · 30/01/2012 20:25
wigglesrock · 30/01/2012 20:28

How many times have I told you people not to talk unless I'm here Grin

blizy Sunday would be great but I can do Fri if it ends up suiting you better or both Grin [stalkery face]. I'll pm you my number. Is dh over for work?

You know that you'll end up pregnant shortly after Zoes birthday don't you? As soon as the pressure eases. I had set myself a deadline of my 30th to at least investigate why I wasn't pregnant (had been trying for years), my 30th passed, I was pregnant with Sofia 3 months later.

Tarlia hello Grin, I think that's me done, I feel very lucky to have the 3 girls and strangely the more time I spend with very young babies the less broody I get Hmm

Sofia and Anna both "talk" in their sleep, they get it from Mr W he carries on full conversations (its creepy as bleep endearing Grin) Olivia doesn't move a muscle when she sleeps. She sleeps the sleep of someone with no a clear conscience Grin

deliaskis well done on the interview and am really glad you and C had a good weekend xx

I have good work news, well not me my dad. He's been on temporary contracts for a few years and hasn't had much luck getting something more permanent but he was offered a lovely long term contract with the Civil Service today, no more long commute, great holidays etc and more importantly my Mum can tell people he works for the Civil Service Grin which still carries a strangely alluring cachet here!

In order to celebrate I drove him and my Mum to the cinema with a bottle of wine and 2 plastic cups hidden in her handbag Blush

debka · 30/01/2012 20:31

Back again now you chatty lot!

First of all, cover your ears anyone feeling prudish, I am Going to Swear.

blizy cunting buggering AF, I honestly thought this would be the month. Bloody hell. Right, listen AF, stay fecking away, our jane needs to be pg asap, so fuck the fuck off. Heard me?? blizy big hug :( It won't be long.

Bloody buggering hand, just deleted a whole ENORMOUS post. Fuck.

In a nutshell-

reastie S also eats like a pig
emski :( to sis
delia :) to sis
Shock to all not having more babies.

Drama here today- S got called to the hospital to have the doodah in her eye removed. I held her tight, my sister held her head, and the dr removed the thing WITH MASSIVE TWEEZERS!!!! Shock Am glad it's out though.

DH has just put on episode 3 of the Killing, back later :)

ledkr · 30/01/2012 20:41

Ah poor baby S did she scream?I would have been rubbish.
wiggs I sleep very still too,i always laugh when i hear people say you move millions of times overnight, not me,Its certainly not from a clear conscience though Grin
deb did you just use the c word??? I am truly shocked, you who visits church regularly too. I love the c word,me and my friends save it for special occasions such as when we were accosted by the pta to join up,we were all nice and reasonable tiil they went and then we both looked at eachother and whispered "silly cunts" dh thinks its terrible but cant help laughing when i text it him.

tadjennyp · 30/01/2012 21:22

Just thought I'd post quickly while I'm making lunch.

Shock to massive tweezers in S's eye! I think I'd have been in pieces for that.

I'm with wiggs: very lucky to have 3 healthy dcs and don't want to risk another one! V exciting to think there might be more thread babies soon. Blizy is first in line though.

Loads of vomiting going on here over the weekend and S is very peed off at the moment. Better go. Hello to everyone - sorry for not mentioning anyone else.

blizy · 30/01/2012 21:41

Oh no poor Sabine (and you deb), poor mite must have been so scared.

Uh oh tad- hope the sickness disappears soon.

Wiggles- I will check my pm tomorrow, I'm on my just now. Sun suits me best, Dh will be picking me up on fri from the port and no doubt be wanting some dinner! Yes he is working, he is went over this morning.

I hope all the babies sleep well tonight, I'm off to bed night all.Smile

debka · 30/01/2012 22:22

Hmm ledkr that word may possibly have fallen off my fingers onto the keyboard. I was proper upset though Angry. Would never say it in RL though

S was soooo good, only cried at the very end, the dr was most impressed. maybe I need to change her nappy with a giant pair of tweezers

Night all xxx

reastie · 31/01/2012 08:34

deb Shock to the giant tweezers. I'm feeling all squirmy at the thought of a doctor using giant tweezers eyes Confused

Did anyone see the progam on social workers last night? ledkr I have such admiration for you - I could never do that job. Was it a realistic view of the general stuff you do or quite extreme?

tad Sad to the sickness. How horrible

wiggles horrah for your dad but Hmm to the form of celebrations - living dangerously there Wink

Alice wouldn't go to sleep last night and then fell over and whacked her head really quite hard on the side of the bed giving herself a big lump on the head and bruise this morning Shock . Still, it sort of evens out her face - she now has a bruise on either side of her forehead (the other was where DH opened the door accidentally whacking alice in the face). ledkr please don't report us Blush . She slept nearly 3 hours less than usual last night so am tired and have work today. So knowing my luck she'll prob sleep hours for dh again today like she never does for me Confused [sigh]

ILovePonyo · 31/01/2012 09:59

Morning!

Reastie I watched that programme, very sad but quite an unusual outcome with the adoption I think? I was shouting at the tv when the dad was meant to be playing with the boy - "get off the bloody settee and talk to him!" poor little lad. Oh and naughty A not sleeping Wink hope tonight is better.

Deb I am also Shock at giant tweezers, brave baby! What was it in her eye then?

Am on my phone and my mind has gone blank, can't remember what else has been said. A slept through last night, must be nursery wearing her out Smile but she was fully awake at 6, not bad though really!

Ooh MizK hope cass had slept better for you, and Grin at you staying out with drunky gay man Grin

Hope everyone has good days

debka · 31/01/2012 10:21

Poor little Alice reastie, wait till she's walking though, Imy's legs were a mass of bruises for a while at least they're hidden though so the SWs can't see

ponyo I don't know what the thing was, it was very small, black and plasticky but concave, almost like a tiny seed shell IYKWIM, and was suctioned onto her eyeball, would never have shifted on its own. Well done Anya on sleeping through!

Weigh in tonight, feeling pretty positive although Imy and I made some free from everything flapjack this morning for my friend (who's been in and out of hospital)'s kids (we're looking after them again this afternnoon), they're in the oven and smell divine.

O bugger, I accidentally paid £324.87 for a toy on Saturday, instead of £13- I noticed yesterday and they refunded me the money, but it's not back in our account yet and I have ZERO money available until it is- probably not till Friday now :( PANTS.

americanexpat · 31/01/2012 11:22

debka - Shock giant tweezers?! Sounds like S was a star though, luckily no GA. I'm with you on the finances. Luckily it's pay day today but we were seriously skint waiting for an expenses reimbursement for DH's last work trip so we're out of pocket nearly £2k until it comes.

wiggles - well done to your dad and Grin at the bottle of wine. They're like teenagers, they are.

reastie - L was covered in bruises when he first started pulling up, it's just part of childhood. He fell and smacked his forehead the night before we were due to fly home from America and had a giant purple bruise. I was Blush that people were going to judge us but every one just said, "On the move, I see!"

[excited squealing and clapping emoticon] to the wiggles and blizy meet-up. Grin

americanexpat · 31/01/2012 15:59

A question for everyone. A work colleague who I don't much like asked about L casually. I mentioned he's a climber and is all over the furniture, to which he replied that his 4yo son isn't allowed to climb on the furniture then proceeded to bang on about discipline (implying that I'm not) and Supernanny and the naughty step for 10 minutes until I managed to slip away. The most I've ever "disciplined" L is to move him away from something he shouldn't be doing and distract his attention. I think the "naughty step" is a bit OTT for a baby who's not yet 1. What sayeth the other Feb ladies?

wigglesrock · 31/01/2012 16:41

Quick wave, americanexpat I bet they were holding hands in the cinema too Blush

I don't do the naughty step, I tried once a few times with Olivia, it didn't go well, she laughed and then tried to get put on it! I tell Anna off and have started using the word No, only for when she pulls the girls hair or bites. I don't tell her off for climbing which she does all the time as well.

Olivia is still a climber and all my girls lie all over the furniture and sit on the backs of the sofa which while sometimes irritating isn't really that big a deal. I like discipline and won't put up with cheekiness, rudeness or unkindness but I think that some times it easy to confuse discipline and control. But you know me I'm awful lax Grin

blizy · 31/01/2012 16:41

Totally ott, a 1 yr old will have no understanding of the naughty step technique. I would just remove and distract a 1 yr old baby. American- your colleague is nuts! Grin

Deliaskis · 31/01/2012 16:44

Hi expat , I think the naughty step is a bit over the top for a not quite 1yr old, and it strikes me as being completely futile.

We have started saying a firm 'no' with stern face when C does some 'naughty' things (I don't even like saying naughty, because it's not like she knows it is), like stick her fingers in the soil of the plant on the coffee table, or crawling over to take a swipe at my Dad's v old and valuable mandolin. She does understand because she looks, and tries again, and gets 'no' again, then goes off and does something else. I don't expect her to remember from one day or incident to the next tho.

I'm not trying to instill discipline in her, she's too small and won't understand, but it's more than I don't want to let her play merry hell until x age, and then suddenly tell her all the things she has always done with no ramifications, are suddenly wrong. That wouldn't be fair.

SO I agree with you, move away, distract, and then I suppose I go a bit further by saying no, but I don't see the point in any more than that at this age.

D

Deliaskis · 31/01/2012 16:45

Shock wiggles you mean you don't put cheekiness, rudeness and sitting on the backs of the sofas, down to teething as well? Grin

wigglesrock · 31/01/2012 16:54

D No but I reckon they might have dodgy appendix, a few Rennies should clear that up Grin
