wigglesrock · 29/01/2012 21:04

Blizy now do you mean dinner time like evening time or dinner time more of a lunch time? I get confused on MN when people talk about dinner Grin. I'm working Saturday day and night - pants Sad but am free from Fri afternoon and all day Sunday and am only about 20 mins away from Days Grin

Now what to wear? Grin at least hair will be de-badgered!

reastie · 29/01/2012 21:17

deb no such luck re: having an actual RL life Wink . I've just been lurking so people think I might have a life Wink . Spent the week end slobbing about (well, as much as you can slob with alice about) watching DVDs Grin . DH picked up the wooden toy kitchen this morning - it's tres cute. We've put it in the loft for a bday/christmas pressie for her at a later date

wiggles and blizy Envy of meet up. Hope the snow holds off

four4 hope you get better soon. A friend of mine had mastitis and it sounds horrible Sad

ledkr · 29/01/2012 21:47

Hi ladies, they have gone.We actually had a nice day although me and dh are bloody knackered ended up making them a nice dinner but spent all day prepping it anf then clearing up-they did help Shock and enjoyed the girls very much,i even packed them off for a walk which they all liked but not as much as me cos as soon as they went i dived on the sofa and watched tv.
Dilly has been daringly walking today but keeps trying to stand up freelance and falls over.
44me Poor you,i had mastitis with ds1 i was 17 and extremely shocked at my hot boulderous tit.Hopoe you feel better now,im always very gratefull for my lovely dh who seems to spring into action when im ill but strangly not when i was pg Hmm
debI camt believ you are running for 20 mins,im a bit jel. Tell me where do you actually go?I cant imagine jogging around our village ive a reputation to consider dont you know Grin Im going to download the pod cast is that what you did?How is the quest to be skinny btw?

ledkr · 29/01/2012 21:48

Sorry a quick "hiya" to reastie and our wiggs and blizy

debka · 29/01/2012 21:56

ledkr it is a slow jog, don't fall off yer perch imagining me sprinting Grin I run down the little unlit lane that leads to my house (middle of country) for about 1/2 a mile, then around a little estate, then turn round and come back. It's about 2 miles in total. I do it in the dark after the girls go to bed so there's no-one about to laugh at see me. Grin

Only lost 1/2lb last week but I was a greedy cow all week, hoping for a better loss this week. I'm 6lbs off losing 4 stone now.

blizy · 30/01/2012 07:40

Ledkr - what a love idea for Zoe's birthday. Dh and I just don't know what to do.Confused

Deb- wow at 4 stone, fingers crossed for you.

Ice chilled weekend.

blizy · 30/01/2012 07:41

Oops posted too soon.

Tarlia · 30/01/2012 09:20

I thought today was Dillys birthday, but I seem to have missed it, sorry. Happy belated Birthday, Dilly!

Happy birthday, Ben! needto I hope you are enjoying his special day.

Love to all of the little ones. Do we have any walkers yet? Any siblings on the way?

Four4me · 30/01/2012 10:03

Thanks for all the get well message. I do feel loads better. Boob is back to normal, but by f**k it hurt like hell. I'm very prone to it sadly, had it for four weeks once with Imogen. Now I'm better it makes me realise just how crap I felt iykwim.

deb you are amazing. I'm sure you are inspiring lots of your friends and fellow sw ladies. Yeah.

Enjoying hearing your plans to meet up blizy and wiggles . My dsis is over from Belfast at the moment. You never know I might get my butt into gear and get over there to visit her and you wiggles one day. Do you think Mr Wiggles would mind watching 7 children while we went for a coffee and cake!!!!!!

Hope everyone else is well, off to Singamajigs with Im and A now. Yippee! X

blizy · 30/01/2012 10:31

Hi tarlia How are you and Z?

I'm glad you are feeling better 44me.

Horrid AF came yesterday, I am so upset I won't be pg before Zoe's birthday I really thought I would be and had almost set the date as a target.

Hope you all have a good day.

Deliaskis · 30/01/2012 10:53

Morning ladies,

Thanks so much for lovely supportive messages, it really makes me feel better, and less like an evil mean Mummy Grin.

Ledkr two unrelated things, bu re sep anxiety, yes it had crossed my mind, we did CC Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun and by Sat she just gave one half-hearted shout at 5am then went back to sleep until 8, bliss! Same on Sunday, so it seemed to be working, but then this morning 3.30 until 4.15 was just shouty shouty shouty. She did zonk out in the end tho, I think I will persevere with is this week and see where we are by weekend.

So then secondly, C only has about half a 10mo jar as well, (yes I make stuff, but about that quantity), I can't imagine how she would have room for any more, sometimes she even stops half way through her yoghurt (which she loves) because she is really full, so she's obviously just got a smallish appetite, which will do her no harm.

wiggles Deb everyone else lots of lovely wise words, it does feel better knowing I'm not alone in sometimes feeling negative about this parenting lark.

As it happens, I had a lovely weekend at my Mum & Dad's, C slept in both mornings, and lots of extra help was really lovely. So I'm feeling quite chilled despite last night's shenanigans.

I have an interview!!! It's the job that I least want, out of the ones I applied for, but it's still an interview, and so I will go and be positive and see where it leads.

I need to join the 'I've got a pg sister' club, DSis is 9 weeks, beein trying for baby no 2 for a loooooong time, and so they're thrilled. She had a bit of bleeding last week so got whipped into EPU for a scan and they saw the heartbeat etc. and all is well, so they're a bit reassured by that.

Am also jealous of a Feb club meet-up wiggs & blizy that involves boats/planes etc. How exciting. We expect a full report from both to confirm that neither of you are weirdy internet freaks.

Deb can't believe how well you're doing with running/slimming etc. you are one determined lady!

reastie this is a boring and late reply but yes I do wake C if it suits me. i.e. if it's getting too close to bedtime, or e.g. in the morning I want her to have a short sleep so that she has a big afternoon one. Especially because she's not ready to drop her second sleep (the morning one) yet but she's kind of getting ready, and I want to manipulate it so that she still gets a long post-lunch sleep, and drops the morning one.

So anyway, happy Monday everyone.

Dx

ILovePonyo · 30/01/2012 11:32

Just a quick one from me - delia sounds like what you've been doing had been working with C then? Long may it last!

Nice to hear from tarlia - def no more babies planned here Grin what about you?!

blizy sorry to hear about annoying af, hope you're not feeling too down about it. Its hard tho, especially if you had a date in your head you wanted to be pg by.

A kept waking up last night and crying in her sleep almost, she sounded so woeful - do other babies do this?? Confused

Better go and do some work, hi everyone else

Deliaskis · 30/01/2012 11:40

Hey Ponyo yes DH and I are still pretty set on 'one is plenty' for us. Before we were pg, we weren't even totally sold on the idea of having an at all, and pg was a bit of ....ahem....a surprise for us. We love C to bits (yes even when I'm having a crappy time!), and wouldn't change things for the world, but feel no need to have a bigger family.

We do worry about the impact on C, but will make sure she has lots of social opportunities and holidays with friends etc. so that she doesn't miss out.

D

Deliaskis · 30/01/2012 11:42

Ponyo meant to also say, yes sometimes C kind of cries in her sleep, we have been in, and given her a dummy, but that seems actually wake her up, like she wasn't properly awake before. She once did a full on 'start' and woke up and then seemed a bit alarmed that I was looming over her.

reastie · 30/01/2012 12:01

Morning,

I have a thicko question. Now, I know LOs arn't suppose ot have honey until they are 1. I've got a savoury main course casserole thingy in the slow cooker which has honey in it (new recipe tbh I'm a bit Hmm as it has honey, cinnamon and orange in it and smells more like a pud than a main). Anyway, I rang up my hv advice 'hotline' to ask if it was OK to give to Alice and they just asked about food allergies and said it should be fine, but I thought the reason not to eat honey was some kind of bacteria not food allergy issue (she didn't mention this at all). So now I'm not sure if I can give a bit to alice for her dinner or not. Can anyone help? [pfb]

delia glad you feel better and you're defo not a mean evil mummy Grin . Congrats to your sister btw and I'm sorry but I Grin at the thought of claudia looking up at you when she woke up

blizy Sad to AF. Your time WILL come but it must be so upsetting/stressful etc in the mean time

ponyo alice has a great nac of sounding exceedingly woeful when crying. She's been banging into everything the past 2 days and feels like it's crying fit after crying fit Sad

Btw I would love another, would have one tomorrow if I could Shock but there's NO WAY I could go through pg again Sad

ILovePonyo · 30/01/2012 12:07

Funnily enough reastie we gave A some veg tagine dp made for her tea the other day, she loved it and was halfway though choffing it down when we remembered it had honey in. It was only a small amount so I'm sure it will be fine to give it to Alice, it's not like it's loads of honey on its own is it.

A only eats small amounts too, they only have little tums don't they!

Glad it's not just me with the woe baby reastie Grin

ILovePonyo · 30/01/2012 12:10

X post delia Grin at you looming over C. I gave A her dummy and yes, it woke her up more Hmm

I'm happy with just one but people keep nagging me to have another and make me feel guilty saying A will be lonely HmmHmm

Deliaskis · 30/01/2012 12:17

And PS blizy sorry about rubbish af, most unwelcome, but you know...the optimist in me is saying you actually might still be pg by Zoe's birthday, you just won't know if you are....

Deliaskis · 30/01/2012 12:20

I'm clearly going to be annoying today and keep posting one-liners that I forgot to include in my 'main' post, but re how much LOs are eating, C has a small ish appetite (she's still petite anyway), apart from when Grandma makes her sausage and chips like last night, and then she eats like a truck driver! It was really most unladylike, she just kept thumbing chips into her already full mouth. She had no room for yoghurt, and hept making little full sighs afterwards.

americanexpat · 30/01/2012 12:21

Ponyo - L does the same sometimes. I usually leave him a bit during the night to see if he'll go back off on his own. Re: the recipe being oily, I confess I'm not good at following a recipe exactly. Blush I just gave it a glug of oil until it seemed right.

Delia - it sounds like things are looking up a bit for you. Even if you're not keen on the job, the interview will be excellent practice for the others.

reastie - the risk is infant botulism, I don't think cooking it will kill the toxin. I have no idea though, you should probably research it. Grin She's very near 1 year old though, I would be less concerned than if she was younger.

44me - glad your feeling better and that your DH was a star.

I have had another poke around in L's mouth and it's apparently his molars coming through. Dr Google says it's normal for molars to come through before the canines next to them. He only has the front incisors on the bottom (both sets of incisors on the top), so not that far off "normal". Hopefully this explains the horrible nappies he's had for the last 3 weeks.

reastie · 30/01/2012 12:32

delia lol at C eating like a truck driver like my dh does . I gave Alice veggie sausage, scrambled egg, chips and beans for lunch yesterday and she couldn't stop stuffing it in Grin . I've bought frozen mixed veggies ready to make americans veg nugget recipe for her. Alice can eat quite alot at one sitting (for her size IMO). She usually has something hand held (like a bit of bread and butter cut into soldiers), some homemade or ellas puree savoury (and will eat the equivalent of half a stage 2 sachet - more than one sachet equivalent in home made stuff) and then has a fruit pot or yoghurt for pud and if she still looks like she will go longer we'll stuff her with rice cakes/rusks till she just throws them about on the floor Hmm . Interestingly she almost always eats more homemade food then shop bought [smug]. Sometimes her belly is hhuuuuuggggggeeeee and DH and I get Shock at how much she eats. But then she's on track with weight (about 25th centile) so I guess she works it off with crawling. Didn't you say C wasn't crawling? Maybe she doesn't need as much as she doesn't burn it off by moving all the time everywhere. By the by but I just checked alices height and she's soooo teeny - on like 9th centile or less. DH says I should ask the hv about her short legs as they are disproportionately short to the rest of her body (which is why trousers never fit her properly) but I'm a bit Blush to.

american Grin to dr google

ponyo hopefully it will be fine then, It's got a tbsp in the whole thing and alice will have maybe 1/8 tops.

reastie · 30/01/2012 12:34

forgot to say american I don't thinkthe slow cooker would kill botulism as it's only on a low heat so won't get up high enough prob Confused . Maybe I will just give her a frozen thing for tea just to be safe then Hmm

Deliaskis · 30/01/2012 13:09

It's funny reastie , because I agree that technically you probably shouldn't give her the meal, because you're right the slow cooker might not heat it enough, but the thing is, I am starting to think we're so close to a year now, that will it really make any difference at all? I mean, it's not like a switch will flick in two weeks time and suddenly botulism is fine. I know they say one year, just to give them a chance to be able to fight it off (i.e. survive ensuing poorliness), but at this stage, I think it's probably a bit moot. Isn't it in any case one of those things where the chances of it being present are miniscule, and the chances of Alice being affected by it are one miniscule %th of that?

I'd probably give it her, at this point, TBH, only because I don't feel like the next two weeks will make any difference at all to the likelihood of it being a problem.

Dx

Emski76 · 30/01/2012 13:20

Wow, lots to catch up on!!

Reastie, I thought the honey thing was due to allergies. Not that Noah's had any, me not being a fan myself! Noah will eat and eat and eat, then eat some more. I can't eat in front of him as he will grab at it saying 'be, be, mo, mo' which I assume me 'oi you, share it with me!'. He was weighed on Friday at his health check and is 23 pounds, and have moved down to the 75th centile as hes moving about a lot now.
Also, I do wake Noah from his naps and in the morning if hes not awake by 7.30. He tends to either have a long afternoon nap from about 12.30 til 3, or will have a ten minute 'refresh' in his buggy in the morning then have his long sleep.

American, I may try the veggie fingers too. Am feeding Noah with a spoon but he really does seem to like feeding himself with his hands and I'm running out of ideas!

Delia, hope interview goes well, its all good practice. Seems as if C is sorting out her sleep. i have gone into Noah's room in the night if he's crying before and have woken him up more, and hes gotten all pissy with me! Congrats to your Dsis re pregnancy.

I think it was Ponyo who aksed about the little ones crying a bit in the night. I;ve come to recognise Noah's 'I've woken up and am trying to get back to sleep' cry, its cute and kind of whiny. He does it a few times a night sometimes. We never used to hear a peep from Ben so it has taken some getting used to!

Blizy, so sorry AF has come. I love Ledkr's idea of how we can all mark Zoe's first birthday, is there a time, date you would like us to light our candles?
Am well jealous of your and Wiggles meet up!

Ledkr, glad pil visit wasn't too bad. We have booked to go to EuroDisney in May with the in laws, not sure it was such a wise idea but thought with 4 adults we could all relax a bit regards to childcare.

My poor sister is really struggling with her February baby, she's two days younger than Noah and has not slept through the night once. My sis is exhausted and run down and I don;t know how I can help her. I'm popping in to see her on Saturday as I'm in Bristol for a 1st birthday party, and I;ve told her that when she's up to it I'll treat her to lunch. Tbh I don;t think its just a lack of sleep, but an accumulation of stress. i always feel so guilty when I say how well Noah's doing.

Better go, my lunch break should have ended 5 minutes ago!
