X post Bilblio! Bad luck about the car but I hope you get a nice shiny red one to replace it Smile

FunkyDuck · 14/01/2012 23:25

testing..

FunkyDuck · 14/01/2012 23:27

ok, i have name changed.. worried someone in real life knew who i was. eh... trying to think how i can make myself obvious but not to obvious. Maybe if i say my last name was G.....R...

does that makes sense? Confused

FunkyDuck · 15/01/2012 00:44

sassy how awful for your SIL and as scones said, sorry you have been through it all too :(

bb3 hope your feeling better soon, never experienced it before but by sounds of it, its not pleasent!

(GR)

strawberrypenguin · 15/01/2012 03:21

Funky perfect sense Grin sassy, bb3, bilblio just echoing what everyone else has said (lazy emoticon). Right I think W is asleep again, back to bed for me

sassy34264 · 15/01/2012 05:36

penelope Grin but yuk!

dp knows only what mil told us before xmas. (he went out last night and only gets back late today, so not told him yet) he was mad as hell. ive told him not to be stupid about it- ie, make sure its behind closed doors and not where there are witnesses. he purposely dropped sil off on xmas eve, but prick he wasnt there.

bilblio sorry about your car. i had a lovely metallic pink car before i stopped working. the zafira is a boring greyish colour but i do like it.

sassy34264 · 15/01/2012 05:39

funky i had to scroll back Blush but i get it now! Grin

BB3 · 15/01/2012 07:48

Morning all

sassy your poor sil - she's having a tough time of it! It will have helped her to get it all out to someone - will you tell dh? I'm not sure I'd be able to with my dh as id be so worried he would do something stupid. Although mind you he'd be in the queue behind me I think Blush How is her treatment going btw? I hope she finds the strength to remain at your mil and not go back to him x

Thank you for the well wishes I've woken up with aches and pains everywhere but I'm not shivering at the moment which is a positive! Although the girls have chosen this time to feed every 3 hours through the night (which is probably helping in all honestly but not with the sleep deprivation!).

Re cots, I think we are going to put the girls in a travel cot in our room for a couple of weeks and then move them into their room

Quick question to any one with chubby-ish babies. Edith-May has about 4 chins Grin but is getting sticky and a bit smelly under her fourth one, we wash her everyday and bath every two days but it's still happening. Should I be putting anything on it? Like baby powder or something to dry the area out?

LittlePebble · 15/01/2012 08:14

BB3 Grin Eli has a great collection of chins and does get milk in the creases which can get sore if I don't find it. I wash if every morning with water and cotton wool and then again at night in bath which seems to keep on top of it.
You can put a barrier cream (like sudocrem) on it to keep dribble/milk out and put on a bib. If it gets bad the doctor can prescribe canesten. HTH x

Now advice for me please! Eli has started thrashing around while feeding I'm not sure if it's wind but he's arching his back and tossing his head all while latched on and my poor nipples are so sore. I've got the lansinoh back out but not sure what I can do to stop him doing it?

Penelope1980 · 15/01/2012 08:32

bb3 A gets really gross under his chin, it really smells if I don't clean it every day. I just make sure it's dry, and remember to clean it - not sure about EM's chins, but I can't get under his in a bath very easily so have to clean it seperately. I like the idea of baby powder though, might try that.

pebble that thrashing, is he distressed? A thrashes about but not in an upset way, he's just a real fidgit at the moment.

And no, I didn't notice the poo on forehead myself - DH did. He was laughing so hard it took him a while to get around to actually telling me what was so funny and even tried to find a camera first.

LittlePebble · 15/01/2012 08:49

Pene it is as if he's uncomfortable, he's just done it and then let out a huge fart so I think it is wind, I just need to get him to let go of me somehow Confused

BB3 · 15/01/2012 08:53

Pebble - sounds like wind if he's arching and tense - Ayse-Rose went through a phase of that and had to be fed upright for a while (I stood up and held her vertically for her to latch on!) not the most comfortable position I have to say!!!

Grin at poo on the head - ds puked all over me on Thursday and I got all my clothes off only to find it in my eyelashes!!! My sister was no help as she can't deal with the smell of sick so ds and I were stood in our pants covered in sick in the middle of the kitchen waiting for the bath to run!! being a mummy is so glamorous!!!!

FunkyDuck · 15/01/2012 09:28

Sick and poo messages making me laugh! We haven't got any in unusual places just yet but im sure it will come. S just has a habit of peeing/pooing when I take her nappy off Angry. Think she just likes to give me more work to do! Little monkey Grin

Give the area a good wash and dry then something like Vaseline should help as its a barrier cream and so won't allow it to get wet and should hopfully help. S had a crease round the back of her neck and a few wks after she was born, I noticed a smell. I started to think it was maybe and ear inf, then noticed the crease was all full of hair that had fallen out her head!!! Poor baby Sad. Was all red and sore but once clean, it cleared up well.

FunkyDuck · 15/01/2012 09:30

Ment to say pebble does sound like wind. S does this usually after a feed. She goes all tense but then usually let's out the mother of all burps Grin. I find best way to get her wind is sitting on my knee, leaning quite far forward and rubbing her back rather than patting Smile

CheshireDing · 15/01/2012 09:43

DH has gone swimming so left me alone with the baby when I should be cleaning chickens (can't moan though as he wants to lose his gut) so am trying to catch up with you busy lot.

For the wind problem have you tried a few mint teas per day and no caffeine drinks. MW suggested this and I never wind P now. The odd time she burps on her own but I would say that is probably less than a handful of times per week.

Back to rubbish sleep due to snot nose and definite growth spurt - P was feeding for hours yesterday evening. Reminded me of those first few days. oh how easily we forget!

Has anyone done BLW with their other children? I am reading a book about it and it totally sounds like my kind of thing but wanted to ask a few questions.

Do the ladies who have name changed mind if I update the fb (it's a closed group) so that it shows your old and your new names so people know who you are?

sassy34264 · 15/01/2012 09:49

yes im going to tell him. i want him to do something stupid- infact id be less than happy if he doesnt (pardon my french) kick the fucking shit out of him. just needs to do it inside.

i dont use baby powder. i cant see how its good to breath them particles in their lungs. i use sudocreme.

pen Grin at dh trying to find a camera!

MamaMaiasaura · 15/01/2012 09:54

Sorry for flouncyish post earlier Blush definately hormones and feeling pulled every which way and not having brain capacity to keep up. Was so much easier with ds2. I was trying to keep up and answer everyone and couldn't do it and took it to heart and felt crap. Gave myself a "pull yourself together woman" shake and will be only posting when I can (like now Grin) and not stress if I can't. Xx

MamaMaiasaura · 15/01/2012 10:00

cheshire Fine for you to update fb but don't want old nn referred to on here please. I did blw with ds2 and will be with dd. one thing I will do is some spoon feeding like yoghurts and also introduce cutlery early on so that food can be out on fork. This is because ds2 isn't as good with cutlery as ds1 was. In terms of what they eat, ds2 ate much more varied diet from younger age but now he is pickier but I think that is personality too. He still eats great variety and healthy too. He is just a stroppy 4 year old at times but I think it's a phase (hopeful emocion).

Feel for you with sleepless nights does sound like growth spurt.

I'm going to try to read thread to catch up. Might take a while Wink

CheshireDing · 15/01/2012 10:03

Yehh you're back Mama!!

Now what do you know about BLW? Snort!

Is baby powder the same as talc? (excuse dimness) If so def do NOT use near the baby girls lady bits people.

CheshireDing · 15/01/2012 10:07

Thanks Mama. Will update fb when heard back from the other namechanger but no will never mentioned old names on here.

Did it take a lot longer to completely stop the bf though by doing BLW? It sounds like there could easily be an overlap for months of bf and feeding themselves simultaneously.

Off to clean chooks out, will be back later.

FunkyDuck · 15/01/2012 10:15

cheshire I posted a wee comment in fb group but can't update the name list as I'm on my phone but will later Smile

TBH, I'm not a huge fan of blw, but in fairness I don't know a huge deal about it. I think going straight to 'adult' food would worry me eg choking etc. I plan to start around 5 months with the fruit and veg purée then onto lumps and slowly introducing pasta, meat.. I'm hoping to get some weaning books out from library and have a read through them shortly

BB3 · 15/01/2012 10:30

I personally think all weaning us baby led as they won't take what they don't want although blw officially is giving them items to feed themselves with rather than pureeing I tend to do a bit of both - introduce purée food from 6 months ish but also give them bits to snack on using their hands x

MamaMaiasaura · 15/01/2012 10:32

*bb3 sorry you've got mastitis. Hope you get to dr pronto and antibiotics. I can get worse very quickly so the sooner seen the better

jnice and strawberry I think our babies are same age, just 12 weeks. J is mainly ok at night goes from 10/11 to 6/7 although on Thursday and Friday night she was up 2 and the 4 and fed every hour whole day from 4. She slept till 6 this morning but still feeding now as I post. No proper routine yet as I put ds2 to bed around 7. J gets ready for bed while ds2 has bath as I only bath her once or twice a week.

I'm not doing classes as such. Tried bfing group which has a play leader for ds2 but was so stressful as ds2 played up and I could t nurse J that we left early and not yet returned Blush

I'm southerner (by new forest) would be great to meet up at some point.

Re work. I'm a trained nurse but SAHM till kids older. Then I'll do return to practice course I expect. I'm lucky to have choice atm.

Housework -no cleaner here but have a routine of days I clean bathrooms, bed change etc. dh very good and does ironing and clears kitchen each evening. I use fly lady which really helped.

J awake now so I'll pop back when I can. Enjoy your Sunday. Smile

CheshireDing · 15/01/2012 10:32

FB updated.

If anyone else wants to join please send a personal message to PenguinArmy, rather than us post the link here.

Right definitely going out now.

MamaMaiasaura · 15/01/2012 10:39

Cheshire - wether blw or not babiesaim nutrition for first year is milk. Fr 6 months solids are there but not to provide the nutrition but to help them make the step. So see it all as fun and don't stress if they don't feel like eating for a day. The bfing went on till dd was born but not for nutrition but as comfort before he went to sleep or when poorly. Ds2 didn't choke on adult food tho I remember ds1 choking/gagging when purees but he was much younger as guldance then was different and he was pfb and blindly followed hv advice. There are boards on here with good links and advice on whatever you decide to do Smile
