sassy I use pampers active fit fir C and pampers new baby for M
C gets changed 4-5 times per day, and M probably 8-10 times per day, (she poos a LOT)
U think IRS worth switching brand?

CheshireDing · 10/01/2012 11:34

I tried a dummy with P because I thought it would be useful when she kicks off in the car and I am on my own, it's not really worked though. She has probably sucked it twice in total.

Sassy has DH enjoyed the Navy? What will he do now? Very excited for you 

Scones the only thing I know is that it helps for it to be a teat which is similar to a nipple (but I am sure you already know that) and I second what someone else says about you not doing the bottle feeding as you probably smell of milk so I think it confuses them. But also I know bugger all Grin.

Edward I have been using the Just4bums from Kiddicare, 1 months supply is £19.99, so I order 2 months to get free delivery (you don't have to order the same size). We are only on our second month of using them but so far so good. I don?t know if they do them big enough for your little man though as I haven?t looked that far ahead.

I get bored with the electric pump and a few times have just hand expressed, it takes ages and I know I need to build a supply up again in the freezer but I just cant be arsed. Last week I did it once a day though after P had fed on the other size, so we had enough to take with us for a meal with our friends ? it was wasted as P never woke up through the whole meal! Lazy baby!

Welcome back Scones

Mama is that why P has no interest in the dummy because she prefers to stick her fist in her mouth?

I told DH last night that the GP only gave me 3 months supply of pills (rather than the usual 6) and joking said should I get some more. DH said ?oh just finish this last packet and we will see what happens then?. Am now off to Google the percentage of people who get pregnant while bf.

Scheherezade · 10/01/2012 11:34

I think he was just too distracted excited by the challenge of trying to fit the whole thing in his mouth Grin

it's not IRS

GroovyRach · 10/01/2012 12:04

Amazon do pampers big packets for under £10. I got a few before S was born. Infact, I bought so many before she was born that I haven't bought any since!! Iv got a few packs of huggies but I'm not finding them very good. Changed S this morn when I got her dressed, just had to change her again as the pee had leaked out all over her clothes. Poor baby hates being dressed at best of times. I'll be sticking with pampers from now on. I did find asda newborn nappies good. No leaks with them!

I had never thought of getting nappies online Blush I usually go to boots or tesco. (I know boots are expensive but the huge amount of points means I can get good make up for "free")

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 10/01/2012 13:16

Haha right on cue I just got a leaflet through for Costco for 2 boxes of huggies (about 200 per box) for £32 :-) trip to Costco next week :)

CheshireDing · 10/01/2012 13:29

Hold on though Edward because there are 240 nappies in the Kiddicare ones for £20.

Groovy how many nappies are in a Pampers big packet?

I now feel on a mission to find the cheapest.

Wish I could get P to sleep in the day since she has been sleeping overnight, so far we have done baby gym, baby vibrating chair, read the Gruffalo, sung, pulled faces in the mirror, done 2 dog walks, sat in her other cushion with toys and she is STILL awake!!

CheshireDing · 10/01/2012 14:02

Oh God! My Gran has just rang and said "the commemorative thing I ordered P for Christmas has come". I had no idea she had ordered something and am dreading what it is! Yes, I know I am probably being evil but what is the point in clogging the house up with "stuff" to just drag around everytime we move house.

P also received this week a wooly winter hat that will not fit her until the summertime, a top and leggings of which today she is wearing the top as a dress because it's that big and a hat aged 3-6 YEARS!!

GroovyRach · 10/01/2012 14:26

Ok I got it slightly wrong Blush. Amazon do 192 size 3 pampers for £25! No idea where i got £10 from Hmm. I think then that the kiddicare ones are much better value! Do u find them good? Might do the same as you then, order 2 boxes for free delivery Smile

Just got a proper giggle from Sophia! Was only 2 seconds, but still a giggle in my eyes (or ears!) Grin

Oh and a friend of my mums came over last night with an Xmas gift for S.... It was a doll Confused. That will be getting put away for a few years..!!

Scheherezade · 10/01/2012 14:36

My dad (whom I don't get on with at all, and still hasn't bothered to see the baby) sent us a newborn size outfit, with matching hat aged 6-12months!

GroovyRach · 10/01/2012 14:44

I know it sounds ungrateful but if someone doesnt know what to buy, then give a voucher!!

OP posts:
CheshireDing · 10/01/2012 15:11

A doll!! Hmm, you are very good putting it away, it's probably as big as her :)

My Gran loves buying dolls for girls of friends etc and I have already told her that unless P actually ASKS for a doll/vacuum cleaner/similar female perceived item that she is NOT to buy it. I have a bit of an obsession with children being sent down a boy/girl route.

The nappies are 240 (size 2) and 210 (size 3), I presume this is based on some "nappies used per month by baby age calculation". We are still using size 2 until we start size 3 next month. They seem to last a month as far as I can tell, it's just been convenient as we used to have to keep going out to buy Nature ones from Boots but they are expensive. Just4Bums seem fine so far. I think they do a returns thing if you don't like/they are the wrong size.

Scheh an outfit for C's first Birthday then I guess ;)

sassy34264 · 10/01/2012 16:05

the aldi ones are £5 for 54 size 3. so you would get 260 for £25. think it would work out the same for asda and tesco as they do 2 packets for £10.
plus edward you wouldnt have to buy a massive box of one size and another box of the other. i got bought huggies newborn for eva that only go up to 13lbs and i think she was that at 3 weeks old, so they are still here.
i think huggies and pampers are rubbish. they both leak for me.

sassy34264 · 10/01/2012 16:15

cheshire we bought mostly neutral toys for jacob and isobel, that are all kept in a toybox and they can choose to play with whatever they want and im afraid that isobel is crazy for the dolls and jacob likes the cars, building blocks etc. i was quite shocked to be truthful, as i spend 90% of their life alone with them and i know i didnt influence them. i use to think it was mostly a learnt behaviour (gender roles) but i dont anymore. i think its prob half nature, half nuture.
mine have realised in the last few days that if they point to things in their books, i will tell them what it is- its a very long game at the moment as they are doing it, over and over and over and over and over and over and over Grin

MamaMaiasaura · 10/01/2012 16:36

This has got me me thinking on the nappy front. J is on size 3 and use pampers. Find them especially good at night. She's got very very fat chubby thighs and they seem to fit well. No idea how long she'll be in new baby ones tho. For those who use tesco, are they good for round babies? I never thought of buying nappies online either. It's a good idea.

I would love to use reusables but prob last baby so no cost effective and they are much more bulky than disposables so clothes for different. She also doesn't have a sore bum and I worry she would in reusables. Feel very bad for ally excuses but I am bfing so that is a cost saver and I do uses hand me down clothes when I can for all children.

I've not had any really bad gifts except from a neighbour which was baby bottle ;(a unknown cheapy one) which I guess isn't bad f you are using bottles. Also had some outfits that are heavily branded (Disney stuff) and isn't to my taste. God I sound a snob.

GroovyRach · 10/01/2012 17:02

In fairness, it's one of those soft bodied 'my 1st doll' kinda ones but still lol. It can go in the wardrobe for safe keeping!!

Cheshire-he sent it a few weeks ago, when c was in 0-3s, being almost 3 months at the time! The outfit itself was newborn size, so too small, and the hat too big! He probably just grabbed the first things he saw, assuming all baby clothes the same size.

Re: nappies, C wears pampers active fit size 3 at night as he never soils nappies when he's sleeping and I assume they are more comfortable, and the pampers superdry during the day. I find supermarket nappies very rough on his skin, they end up rubbing his thighs.

MamaMaiasaura · 10/01/2012 18:23

Scheherazade - how big is he now? Last week j was 13lb10 still in new baby was thinking of baby dry ones. Just clinging on to newborn stage. She's 11.5 weeks.

Scheherezade · 10/01/2012 18:40

He's 15 weeks and was 14lbs 8oz last week, so will be 15lbs by now

BB3 · 10/01/2012 19:06

Hi ladies

Hope you're all ok - sorry been a bit rubbish keeping up at the moment

We use reusable nappies but huggies in the night time and it costs about £20 a month for the two of them.

Re expressing - I personally prefer to feed on one side for two feeds let the other side fill up then express off then swap sides for the next two feeds iyswim - it does mean I produce more than necessary but I just express off if needed during the day x

We took ds to my sisters this afternoon with the girls (he stayed inside and just played with toys and watched shrek) but with the car journey etc it was just too much for the poor boy - he's exhausted and his breathing has got very shallow again Sad

The girls got loads of dolls when they were born, some of the nicer ones are on their bookcase but the others went to the charity shop x

The girls are lovely at the moment, really chatty, jabbering away! But blimey it's noisey in my house when they're competing to be heard!!!

MamaMaiasaura · 10/01/2012 19:24

Scheh -I guess if I get baby dry and they don't fit, she'll grow into them.

Bb3 - Sad that your ds is still struggling. It's awful when they're poorly tho I'm in awe how you manage. Do the girls take it in turns to nurse then? I always imagined with twins they'd be on one each Grin. My house is very noisy and Jessica competes with the loudest cry, the boys were quiet babies, J is not Grin

SconesForTea · 10/01/2012 19:55

Groovy I was exactly the same at being given dolls/books when DD1 was born, but I was very pleased to dig them out before she was 1 and was suddenly ready for them. They grow up SO quickly.
Re expressing, with DD1 I would express the other side in the morning after 1st feed of the day. Now I express whenever I can snatch the time, i.e. not often. Most of my stash was defrosted over Xmas and most of it went down the sink Sad We are going to try a bottle again tonight so fx.
