Darciesmum · 15/03/2006 17:04

thanx fransmom,

its getting better just riding it out

aprilmeadow · 15/03/2006 18:55

Hiya, work has been manic so havent been able to get on as much during the day as i would like.

Fransmom - Jack will be 11mths on the 24th. He will only do the one step at a time before sitting down. Then he does the whole bendy leg thing if you try to get him to do it again :) He clapped his hands this morning when he did it so he must know that he is clever :O Jack has a sponge in the bath and likes to suck the water out of it - GROSS!

I hope Darcies cough goes soon, poor little thing to have it hanging around so long. ISnt it cute when they start brushing their teeth. I have had a tooth brush for Jack for a while and just gave it to him a month or so back to get him used to the feeling of the bristles. He nows lets me have a quick brush of them before i let him finish off. Gets a bit annoyed if i dont give him his toothbrush when i am brushing my teeth and will tug at my leg.

Right i am off to put the little monkey to bed before i go off to get a take away for us for dinner - yummy

hello! isn't it sweet when they do that? it's like they're saying i've done it once for you, i'm not doing it again! Grin dd does that with the sponge - i thought she was the only one that did it, as for the teeth, well! i have to brush her teeh before she goes to bed otherwise she lets me know about it. if i try taking the toothbrush off her, she has a paddy that she hasn't finished. now i have to say to her are you done yet? if she is, she drops the brush on her lap!

leggymamba · 17/03/2006 10:32

Aren't you all good - I'm terrible at remembering to get dd to brush her teeth, ds still hasn't a toothbrush (he's still only got 2 teeth that aren't even all the way through yet) have just put one down on my shopping list!

Have just booked ds trial visits to nursery the week he starts - quite looking forward to it as they are on days that dd is at home so we're going to go and do something fun together (will be the first time since ds was born that we'll have some time alone - have just realised that I quite miss it as it's nice to be able to concentrate on one child). Still dreading going back to work after 14 months my brain has badly rotted - just hope they take things easy with me for the first few weeks!

Hope Darcie's feeling better

Emma1404 · 17/03/2006 10:41

Hi mums

Cant i join. My dd was born on 14th April 2005. She started crawling at 6months, and is now standing vey solid at the furniture and sometimes stands on her own for all of 3 seconds. We are off on holiday in May and im hoping she will be toddling by then, as it will be so much easier, but there is really no rush.

DD likes the sponge in the bath aswell, which is really weird as one of my cravings when i was pregnant was eating bath sponges. YUCK!¬!

Her weight isnt great....only 17lb 13oz and she can be a bit up and down with her food, but she loves her milk. Infact my HV said she shouldnt be having as much as its curbing her appetite. She has 3 7oz bottles a day. Is that too much?

leggymamba · 17/03/2006 10:54

Hello Emma,

I thought that they were meant to have at least a pint of milk a day (about 18 oz) so your dd is only just over that. If she still likes her milk and is eating something I wouldn't worry. Are you and your dp slight people? If you are you wouldn't expect your dd to be huge. My ds is 30 lb - what does that say about me and dh Grin - yes we are on constant diets! I think it's a hv job to give mums something to worry about. Compared with my dd I have hardly seen my hv this time - go with your instincts if it feels right then it probably is.

leggymamba · 17/03/2006 10:56

Glad to hear of another weird craving though - mine was chalk, I went to elc and bought a box and ate the whole lot, I always had a stick of chalk with me. Didn't tell anyone except dh for ages.

Emma1404 · 17/03/2006 11:07

fantastic craving....never heard of that one. I thought i was the only freak!!

Me and my dh arent big people. Im 5ft 4" and he is 5ft 7". His parents are fairly small so i think she has maybe inherited their genes. She was 6lb 13oz at birth. Ive been trying to take away her afternoon bottle and jus incresing the morning and evening bottles slightly to account for it, but she wont go down for a nap without a bottle. any advice?

Darciesmum · 17/03/2006 12:51

Hi Emma

The only craving i had when i was PG was lots and lots of Chocolate, and i actually can't stand the stuff, didn't eat it b4 i was PG and don't eat it now.

I haven't had Darcie weighed since 3rd Jan but has got her 12 month check up in 2 weeks so will wait till then.

Darcie is only on 6oz bottles morning and evening and is going onto cows milk when this tub of formula runs out, so that will be going into a cup. she only has water or juice in a cup through the day.

Sorry no advice really Emma, will your DD drink out of a cup? if so why not put some juice or water in and put her to bed with it?
would she go down then?

Emma1404 · 17/03/2006 13:54

hi darciesmum.

i tried putting her down with a beaker of water yesterday but to no avail. will perservere today but normally end up giving in. Alana has been on cows milk for 2 weeks now and cant get enough of it.
How much sleep does your little one have a day?

Darciesmum · 17/03/2006 15:31

Hi

It varies she normally has bout half hour in the morning, and maybe hour or so, in the afternoon.

and sleeps all nite :)

will she drink water out of her bottle?

Emma1404 · 17/03/2006 15:39

not tried to be honest. She has just gone down with 4 oz of milk out of a beaker. First time.

Darciesmum · 17/03/2006 15:54

thats good, keep perservering :)

aprilmeadow · 17/03/2006 19:13

Hi Emma - Great birthday for your DD (my birthday:)) Jack has 6oz in the morning, 4oz at 2.30pm and 7oz at bedtime. This weekend i am cutting the 2.30pm one down to 3oz then will cut it out in the next few weeks. I think they need to have it cut out by 12mths then should be down to 12oz between the morning and evening bottles.

What fun cravings - i didnt get any!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, got to go and put Jack to bed.

I still don't think you need to worry too much about the milk - the 12oz at 12months is a minimum not a maximum so if she has a little more don't worry. My 2.9 year old still has about a pint a day - I never gave her juice when she was little and now she hates it. I just think she'll end up with nice strong bones and teeth from all the calcuim and good teeth (even though I don't remember to brush them!).

Patrick did the standing alone thing this weekend - must have made the giant leap as he's got less weight uptop - He had his first haircut on friday. He looks like a really big boy now - there goes my baby!

Emma1404 · 20/03/2006 10:49

hi leggy. how old is your ds? It must be so exciting seeing him doing that. I cant wait for dd to start. She occasionally stands on her own when she is looking in the sweetie cupboard but only coz she is focusing so much on the malteasers. Hope you is toddling before me go abroad in may.

Aprilmeadow.....14th april is my birthday aswell. And yes, I had dd on my birthday. what a wonderful present, although this year i will be relaxing believe me. Wink

aprilmeadow · 20/03/2006 18:55

I would have been gutted to share my birthday. I know it sounds childish, but my cousin was also born on the 14th and i had to share my grandparents with her. They could only stay for 30-60mins on my b'day - scarred me for life :)

Leggy - how cute! We are getting Jacks done this w/e in preparation of my mums 50th birthday party. Found one in Farnham (surrey) that give you a certificate and stick the lock of hair to it :O

OP posts:
aprilmeadow · 20/03/2006 19:10

Jack was due on the 18th and i said that he could come anyday but the 14th, so what did i get as punishment for being selfish and not wanting to share.... a baby that was 6 days late!

OP posts:
Darciesmum · 20/03/2006 19:37

But AM is the best present you've had on your b/day so far :)

Darcie is getting a temper on her, is starting to stamp her feet now, is funny.

My relationship is going really strong, we get on so well its been 3 months and i think i'm falling for him, trying not to tho as i think is to soon but he is a great guy and absolutley adores Darcie.

I'm doing the b/day count down now and still not sure what to buy Darcie for her present. as she'll have so much anyway lol

louii · 20/03/2006 21:00

Hi girls, can I join in? My little boy will be 1 on the 12th of april, cant believe how quick a year has passed! I am from fife in scotland just moved home after living in ireland for the past 5 years. looking forward to chatting to you all soon.
Lou

Darciesmum · 21/03/2006 15:03

Welcome Lou.

Nothing to report Darcie went onto cows milk today and hates it, so will have to change her to semi-skimmed i think!

and only drinks out of a cup now, being a right moo about it to. lol

RubysmumX · 21/03/2006 21:43

hi mums, can I join please?

Ruby was born on 25th April (can't believe she's nearly a year old), has four teeth, is crawling (just started pulling up to stand), and likes to say 'dog', 'duck', 'pigeon' and 'light' (well that's what we like to think she's saying!)

fransmom · 21/03/2006 22:53

am starting to slightly panic about the milk thing. as for the speaking, when dd used to crawl off away from me, i used to laugh and say to dd come here you little bugger. that was until she started saying it Blush hopefully, she's forgotten how to say it now Blush. i have to go back and read the last few posts now, my memory still baaaaaaaaad Grin

Darciesmum · 22/03/2006 09:10

I've cracked the milk thing, shes still not sure about drinking from a cup so still got her bottle to hand, but she is getting better everyday :)

I've really have fallen for Chris, he is just wonderful and i think he feels the same about me, his new business will be launched week monday, and will be having a salary of around £55k at first then as the profits go up his salary will and he was talking about buying us a house, and i can give up work and look after the children and he wants a baby (boy) to! I just can't believe how lucky i am!
