had quick glance thru thread, and frans got number 4 lurking but its taking its own sweet time breaking thru but i can see shape of no5 in her top gum so i hope that one comes thru easier.

went in mothercare today with a friend and got bit glum, she too big4 baby clothes tho not quite big enough for 'big girl' clothes Sad tho at the same time i can't wait for her to grow up so we can have girly chats - does anyone else feel like that?

Darciesmum · 07/03/2006 18:01

Welcome Fransmom

Darcie has still got bad whooping cough but is getting through it day by day!

the 30th March is creeping up so fast, what is everyone doing for babies 1st Birthdays?

leggymamba · 07/03/2006 19:18

Hello everyone - Hi fransmom (I'm going to be 33 this year I think - keep lossing track!)

Hope Darcie's getting better, It's horrible seeing them ill.

Lockets - I'm also getting the 'mum, mum, he's getting my stuff, keep hold of him!'. He loves train track to eat so dd can't put more than about two pieces together!

Having problems with feeding at the moment as he won't let a spoon anywhere near him mouth. Can only eat finger foods - the chili I made for his tea had to be emptied onto the tray on then put in with fingers - made a huge mess but I ran out of ideas for what to give him (banana, cheese and cereal are all I've got in). I should really start another thread for ideas for baby and fussy toddler finger foods. What are your's eating?

Don't have to worry about him starving though as weighed him (when took dog to the vets - they have those walk on scales!) and he's 13.5 kg. Had to go home and get rid of the old car seat asap! Spoke to HV being neurotic mother again, she said that he'd loss some when he starts walking and not to worry about him getting to elephant size!

aprilmeadow · 07/03/2006 19:50

Hi all - i have just come back from a wonderful pamper day at the Sanctuary Spa in Covent Garden - got vouchers for birthday last year and needed to use them up.

Been told today that Jack is biting the ladies at nursery :( - he bites me when he gets excited having a cuddle or a play fight type thing but doesnt bite dh. I feel sad that they have had to mention it to us and i dont know how to stop him doing it..... 'No Bitig Jack' doesnt seem to be working..... Any suggestions??

Lockets - 17wks!!! Where has that gone!

DM - Sorry to hear that Darcie is still poorly.

LM - Jack pretty much eats anything you give him, although he does have the odd day where you would think i was giving him poison! HE loves sandwiches, cucumber, cereal bars, raisins, gingerbread men, (whispers...)smarties and chocolate buttons

FM - have you tried H&M for girly clothes....?

I have booked a hall for Jacks party as our house is too small to have people over and the weather is too cold to go outside. Will just have a few friends from nursery and family/friends for 3hrs. His birthday is a Monday, and thats the day i dont work, so dh and i will probably take him somewhere like a softplay place or something.

Darcies birthday 30th March

Verso · 09/03/2006 07:09

Ooh I must book a day at the Sanctuary too - DH gave me a voucher for Christmas (hurrah!). Did you enjoy it? Did you have any 'treatments'? (I always think it's odd they call them that!) You must be all relaxed and a-glow. Lovely :)

Anyway - for the birthday list it's Verso - Anneke - 13 April

Verso · 09/03/2006 07:11

P.S. Fransmom - about the growing up and having girlie chats - yes, definitely! I can't believe that one day I'll be able to go shopping with DD etc Grin. Fab! Oh and I must admit I'm getting slightly excited at the thought of her hair getting long enough for the occasional bobble or hair slide. I'm obviously a secret Claire's Accessories junkie ;)

leggymamba · 09/03/2006 19:41

DD is 2.5 and we already have girly chats, just hope she stays like that (not looking forward to teenage tantrums, the terrible 2s were bad enough!). Not sure what sort of chats you get with boys - don't they just smell and sleep all day? (have that at 10 months so what's going to change!)

hi everyone. alux under new identity. dd climbed her first step this am. dh put on the stairgate at the bottom this pm. she's got 7 or 8 teeth (not sure as she won't let me peek in properly) and walks with just one hand being held. scary stuff.

knock wood. her birthday is 40 days away and has only fallen victim to seasonal sniffles and coughs.

i took away a sexually crude note from a 12 yr old boy in school today and now you lot are making me think that one day unsuitable boys will be interested in my dd.

enjoy the cuddles and smiles etc while they last.

i also got a day's spa treatment for Christmas prezzie - had to tell dh what to get me Grin at a posh place not too far from home. will book in for over the Easter hols.

We are going to Barcelona where dd will ring in her first birthday. We were not planning it that way but it falls happily during the holiday so that will make it extra special for us.

aprilmeadow · 10/03/2006 12:06

Brilliant leggymamba, should have thought of that!

Verso - had some lovely treatments. I had a feel good facial where i got to choose either exfoliation or a mask of some sort - went with Exf. Then i had a full body mup wrap - that was lovely. Plus a manicure and the complementary colour therapy room session. Dark room filled with comfy bed/chair thingies. You tuck your self in using the soft blanket provided and you drift off for half an hour listening to the calming music and breathing in the lovely scents that fill the room. I went with my friend and she had the Shirodhara hot oil drizzled onto your forehead followed by massage she said it was great she also had the Rasul - cover yourself in mud. I am off there again next month as taking my mum for her 50th birthday. Will be having a body polish and the shirodhara . Dont know if that helps you make your mind up up about what to have...? If you are planning on booking additonal treatments you can book them on the day and they do have special offers running - we missed out on that as we booked everything apart from the manicure before we went. have you been before??

Sorry for my ramble!

HI

Well Darcie took her first steps yesterday with only holding onto one hand, has been standing alone and walking along the furniture for a while, so she's getting very brave.

And wednesday afternoon she ate some coal off the fireplace went to the kitchen for 2 mins and came back in and she was having a good munch on the block, she was black from head to toe.
shes okay tho, gave me the panic of the day! :)

still got bad cough but is other wise fine.

fransmom · 11/03/2006 20:05

hello! wow darcie - congrats Smile
birthday list great idea, cannot remember who said it tho my memory terrible! Grin i think i better start keeping notebook attached to k/board!!!!
francesca born on 26th, 9lb 1/2 oz. that last bit hurt Grin

fransmom · 13/03/2006 22:54

francesca stood on her own for three seconds! huuuuuuuggge Smile i know it's not very long but i'm so proud of her. (though i'm not sure if it was because she was holding my debit card at the time.........)Grin

Verso · 14/03/2006 06:20

LeggyM - did you ever think of more finger foods to try? We're having the same problem with DD here - she just wants to feed herself and I'm running out of ideas. Glad you posted about the babies running the weight off eventually as DD is practically spherical and I was starting to fret!!

Aprilmeadow - yes, I have been there before and it's lovely. I can't wait to go again. Thanks for the tip about booking treatments on the day and maybe getting offers. I forgot about that. When I went I was most annoyed to find that I could have got my second treatment half price if I hadn't booked in advance. Great start to a calming day, eh?!

Everyone's babies sound v advanced to me with all this walking going on. DD kneels up quite a lot but no sign of walking yet.

leggymamba · 14/03/2006 12:24

Verso - I'm waiting for a book to come from Amazon (finger foods for babies and toddlers) - thought it was worth a try. At the moment he has toast and dry cereals for breakfast, getting through trees of bananas, pasta, peas and sweet corn, sausages, carrot sticks (any other veg I've got in), jacket potato cubed, cheese, fish fingers. Hoping for inspiration from the book! Have given up with anything mushy as kitchen walls are covered! So I've got a freezer full of hotpots and fish pie.

My hv said that it takes longer for the 'larger' babies to walk as they've got more to move around - that's what I keep telling myself when all ds friends are running around him and he's still comando (sp) crawling! To be honest, at least it gives me a few months longer to sit back and relax (although hoping some of my saggy stomach might disappear when I start running after him - it worked last time)

fransmom · 14/03/2006 15:17

verso please don't worry - babies go at their own sweet pace and certainly don't listen to any of those competitive moms - we all know at least 1 or 2! Grin

leggymamba i wish my dd would eat those foods. she does seem quite keen on scrambled eggs tho. and anything off mommy's plate not her own....... Grin

leggymamba · 14/03/2006 17:29

My problem isn't that he's a fussy eater (haven't found anything he doesn't like yet!) but because he has to feed himself everything takes forever. I go back to work next month so won't be able to have an hour for breakfast!

Can't understand where that last year's gone - now having the slight panic about leaving my baby (He'll love nursery but I won't!) and the major panic about using my brain for anything harder than working out washing cycles and words to nursery rhymes. My boss (who was very understanding and child friendly) has just left and so I'm also really worried about who'll get his job.

aprilmeadow · 14/03/2006 18:46

Wow Fransmom, thats brilliant!

Jack stood for about a second last night and then took a very wobbly first step this morning. He is picking so much up from nursery that he is just copying what the other older babies are doing. Its great, because it means that i dont have to push him to do it, he does it by himself. Although i do need eys in my bottom with the speed he crawls around the house!!

leggy the best thing to remember is that you will find it a lot harder than he does X it might seem harsh and i odn't wish to offend you but i went through exactly the same when i had to return to work. i found that the first day wasn't too baad, it's the 3rd, 4th and 5th etc that were nasty. i'm not sure where you work, but take loads of tissues and maybe a couple of pictures of the wee lad for you to look at. maybe you could phone the person/people who'll be looking after him for you and speak to them during the day so they can reassure you about how he's doing. i still hate leaving dd and it's going to be hard to go back after i've had time off for 3wks (having to use all that holiday in one go -such a bind Grin) but i tell you something, i don't half look forwards to picking up my little dd and giving her a huge hug and big kiss. hth (((((hugs)))))

Blush

ah bless him! isn't it funny that once they learn how to do soemthing, it's like they've forgotten that they couldn't do it 5 mins ago.

dd was in bath other night and was splashing about like anything with her mouth wide open trying to catch the water Grin

fransmom · 14/03/2006 22:35

hi april i wasn't being rude earlier, i had to go see dd. she keeps waking up lately i hope she not having bad dreams again.

i was just going to ask how old jack is Blush
i bet he was really pleased with himself Smile

somehow i think that once they do start walking, we shall need eyes in more places than just on our bottoms! Grin

Darciesmum · 15/03/2006 10:34

Well done to all the babies starting to get braver in walking!

LM Darcie is going through the stage of wanting to feed herself, and brush her own teeth!

Otherwise she has still got her cough but she is ok!
And picking her self up and standing allby herself a lot more and longer each time, b4 she realises shes not holding onto n e thing, lol.
