Hi guys-thanks for the carseat info and thanks for the link Katz.
Was thinking of maybe splashing out on the duo plus isofix, but have been on the fitfinder website and it doesn't fit in our car.
Was maybe thinking of the Britax first class seat which looks quite good, but could easily change our minds.Either way,we need to get 2(one for my mum also),so might go and drive them mad in Mothercare on Sunday, then get it from Kiddicare as they're sooooo much cheaper, hee hee. When we bought our new buggy we were in Mothercare for over 2 hours deciding-I'm dreading it!

hi all .
just wondered if i can get your advice on car seats as its the topic at the moment.
i was thinking about changing dd3 into next stage up but im concerned that she isnt quite heavy enough. she weighs 7.7 kilos at the moment but is hanging out of her seat now. she will be 9 months on 2nd of march but im not sure whether i should get her a new carseat yet? what do think?

we have all been ill but im just getting over it . glad really as dp is just getting it and im having to play nurse to all .
im a bit worried about dd2 as she has bad asthma and has a chest infection (whats new?) dd3 has got her first tooth come through today (yeahhhhhh!!!!!) and its making her very groggy. she has chest and ear infections and thrush in her mouth (again).

anyway if you could let me know what you think it would be very much apprieciated .
ta my lovelies
hope you are all ok and your gorgeous lil ones
love me xxxxxxxxxxx

Muma-Oscar weighs about 22lb's and we were told by Mothercare a few weeks ago that unless he can sit unaided for about 30 mins, then we should keep him in his car seat and not bother with a new one yet.His feet also dangle over the edge but was told that if there is still room at the side and at the top, then it's fine.In the last couple of weeks he must have grown even longer as his legs are now bent when he's in his seat-this being the main reason why we're getting the next one up.Have also found that "fit finder" website not as good as I thought. There's a t least 3 carseat's that WILL fit our car and it doesn't mention them.
Have a feeling we may go for the maxi cosi priori or the duo plus isofix.I know it's the dearest on the market but it is meant to be fab and if he's in it til he's about 4 years old, then it's got to be worth it,I think.
Sorry for the waffling-hope it makes sense.

2Happy · 18/02/2006 09:33

Muma - we swapped ds over because, although there may have been a little space above his head, his poor shoulders were practically bent double trying to wedge him into his old car seat! I think, as bubba says, it's all about head control and how safe they'd be if (God forbid) you had an accident.
We've got a maxi cosi, though I'm sorry I can't remember exactly which one. It's fine, easy to fit in a 5 door car, but a bit of a pest in my little 3 door hatchback.

eastyorksmum · 18/02/2006 10:52

Morning mums hugss

just a quickie lol well it is in our house

ahem , right emailed lynny shes been a bit down lately, she sends all her love to you all, poor jess has been in hospital too with gastroenteritis. Jess is out of hosptal now she said she ll be back soon.

catch up with you later xxxxxx

muma3 · 18/02/2006 13:53

thanks for all your help .
just got back from taking our dog to a rehoming kennels. so . she had started to snap at people so we just couldnt risk it with dd3 (crawling before her 1st b day we hope !!)
anyway, the carseat business - she sits for ages now . until she wants to be picked up or is tired so that isnt really a problem. the straps still fit her its just her legs hang over and her head is touching the top ?
have read a lot about the maxi priori on mn and everyone seems to favour it so that will be the one we chose i think . have to wait til next month now though as we have just had to pay for our holiday deposit.

anyway got to go feeling really and guilty about the dog.
love me xxxxxxxx

Bubbaloo · 18/02/2006 14:32

EYM-Hello.Please give my love to Lynny when you "speak" to her next.x

Muma-Sorry to hear about your dog,but I'm sure she'll go to a good home and at least your dd3 will be safe.

Have just got back from Mothercare with the car seat! They tried to sell the maxi cosi priori to us and it does look really nice, aswell as being a good seat, but we went for the Britax duo plus isofix in the end.It sooooooo easy with the isofix-just clicks into place and no using any seat belts.Oscar looked so grown up coming back in the car,hee hee.
Might still get the maxi cosi for my mum's car,as she doesn't have isofix.

JonahB · 18/02/2006 18:56

oh god, i'm ot going to even attempt to catch up with this thread. Just wanted to pop my head round the door to say hello and hope you are all doing well.
My life is just ridiculously hectic at the moment. In between full time work, finding time to see DS, going to the gym (and i'm making it 2-3 times a week, i'm v. proud) and sleeping, well, that's my life.
DS is doing well. We've got 1 tooth, sitting nicely, up on all fours although no crawling. Still my happy little chappie.
Are we still doing the summary thread or did that die a death?

mandymac · 18/02/2006 19:13

Hello Junies

EYM - glad you are feeling better, and please send my love to Giddy too and wishing Jess a speedy recovery!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. We have 6 teeth . She cut one about a month ago and the other 5 in the past week ! So she has 2 bottom teeth and 4 top ones - she looks so different when she smile now - I kind of miss her old gummy grin . She has been a real trouper about the teeth, but we all have rotten colds here (especially DH, who has the man's version which required 2 days off work ).

I am enjoying being at work, although finding it hard to fit everything in now I don't work late etc and housekeeping standard have reached a new low (but like I read somewhere, no one on their deathbed wishes they had kept a cleaner house ).

I hope all the junies and junie babies are doing well. You know their birthdays are going to be here so fast! I wonder who will be the first Junie to go for number 2 (or 3 in somecases!)?!

Wishing you all good weekends! There was a sniff of spring in the air today - Yipee!
xxxxxxxxxx

muma3 · 18/02/2006 19:18

try number 4!!!!!!
coming off pill in august , would be trying now but we are going florida in september so we have out it off for a while

Bubbaloo · 19/02/2006 15:06

Muma-at number 4!!!
We've decided that as soon as I've lost a fair amount of weight,we'll try for number 2.
Started the Cambridge diet on friday, which is a bit drastic, but if I stick to it,I should lose a stone a month. My mum's been on it for 4 weeks and lost 17lb's already,so it looks promising.

Well after all the excitement of getting the car seat yesterday,we've taken it out of the car for the time being.
Still very pleased with it,but I don't think Oscar is quite ready for the next size up.Although he looks so much more comfortable, his head is bent right forward(awake and asleep),which obviously can't be very safe!
Looks like I've still got to lug the other seat about for a while-at least I'll have strong arm muscles,if nothing else.

katzg · 19/02/2006 16:38

first steps, first steps, first steps, first steps first steps did i mention that DD2's taken her first steps!

muma3 · 20/02/2006 09:50

at katzg junior!!!!
we have a tooth but no movement yet . she can roll and get to where she wants but no bum shuffling or crawling.

uwila · 20/02/2006 17:00

Hi everyone. We have 4 teeth and have just decided to sit up unaided about a week ago. Me boy is lazy, what can I say? Walking Katz??? Oh Hell, better you than me.

Yeah, definitely agree that life is too short to spend my time cleaning the house. Maybe in my next life (if I'm really unlucky).

katzg · 20/02/2006 18:55

todays trick is to pull to standing then turn let go and walk 7 or so steps, we have defineatly got it!

she just seems soo diddy to be walking

muma3 · 20/02/2006 20:18

katzg- when was she born?
seem like you may have your hands full there !!!

dd2 and dd1 have officially started there new school and are loving it ! . dd1 had swimming lessons on her first day back and she has been so excited . dd2 just seems to get on with all the children as usual.

think we might have a couple of more teeth today but they arent quite through . no crawling and no bum shuffling yet but we treasure her as a tiny baby still . i dont think we are quite ready for her to be a toddler just yet

dd1 is still having her temper tantrums but we are hoping in a few weeks when she been to the family centre a few more times then she will start to calm down and be mre content in her self.(we hope )

uwila- might start thinking as you do , cleaning really doesnt need to be on time and i know i live in a flat that we are fighting for room i still dont need to be cleaning 24/7 really do i ? do i ?
love me xxxxx

2nd clever girl

mcmudda · 20/02/2006 20:31

Hi ladies

Dd had her 8 mth check last week. Everything's fine although she's still not rolling. HV put a big cross in the box saying failure to achieve. A failure at 8 months

I'd appreciate you having a nose at my thread about dd in the health section - it includes a cute photo - but I'm concerned about her top lip being attached to her gums. She wouldn't be able to run her tongue over her teeth IYSWIM. Anyway - have a look and if anyone's got any advice that'd be great.

She's 19lbs4.5oz so just above the 75th centile, but only 67cm tall so under th 50th. Short and fat - must be genetic

teabelly · 21/02/2006 13:43

Afternoon ladies

Blimey at all the walking and teething going on - something in the water eh!

All abit in our house today - ds has come down with chickenpox!!!!! Poor little mite, yesterday morning he had no spots, by the evening he must have had 50 and this morning, he's become a giant walking calamine lotion bottle ...and in his own imimitable fashion, we first noticed the blisters out shopping yesterday, I turned to mil and said under my breath 'uh oh I think ds has the chickenpox that's doing the rounds at nursery..' and ds pipes up loud as you like 'MUMMY SAYS I HAVE CHICKENPOX!' I've never seen asda clear so fast!!

McMudda - had a look at your health thread, beautiful little girl there I'm afraid I don't know anything about it, but the advice to see your GP and ask to be referred sounds like a good starting point to me.

To all of those thinking about moving to next stage seats - it's not important that the child's leg's stick over the seat, it's the head support as mentioned that's important, and weight is important too - if too light they could suffer serious injury being thrown forwards in any accident. Obviously if they're sqished up in the old seat shoulderwise they need a new one as they may put undue pressure on the straps. We moved dd because she's well over the weight limits she sits by herself for as long as I need her to, to do the housework and with her winter coat she looks like a sumo wrestler in the old seat . HTH

Right best go and check dd again to make sure she still has no spots herself...better they get it young, but I think over 12mths is preferable, hey ho let's hope she still has some of my immunity...catch you all later, x
