tried madam with some pureed carot today + she wolfed it down! she ate the lot, plus a 9oz bottle.. is it bad i'm giving her more than the '2 teaspoons' they always say in the books? she seems to want more!

beatie · 25/01/2006 13:09

Sallie ~ I'm sorry to hear your sad news. I echo what the others say and use us here to offload whatever is on your mind. What b*stards some men can be.

Simplyred · 25/01/2006 14:20

LadyLazarus - if Elise was happy - all sounds good to me xx

mummyhill · 25/01/2006 18:59

18 wks old now weighs 19lb 7oz. HV recomends rice with fruit for 1 meal and veg for second meal. I didn't have the heart to tell her he has three meals and i let him eat as much as he wants.

PiccadillyCircus · 25/01/2006 21:40

I think I will get Alice weighed tomorrow.

Cabe · 25/01/2006 23:17

Hi busy busy here... Like all of you I'm sure

Mummyhill - he's a strapping lad! I remember him being tall too though so don't think the weight is out of proportion.

Daddy's bought Conrad a Grobag and I'm trialing it tonight... the immediate plus is that you can put them into bed sleeping, none of the wakey uppy as you tuck them in I hope he'll be warm enough.

Be intresting to know Alice's weight PC... Conrad's managed to put on another 3oz over this week and any gain is good - he's 11lb 11oz now

Lady Lazarus did you find a group near you that you enjoy taking Elise to?

Beatie I haven't seen an eco-friendly pre-wash but the Ecover bleach may do well - I was reading the box and it says it'll get your white washes hygenically clean... you could give this a try

Night night All x

PiccadillyCircus · 25/01/2006 23:33

Must go to bed.....DH is away which means I seem to lack motivation to go to bed (although I will get it all to myself )

Just need to do a bit of tidying myself.

Have any babies got teeth yet? Alice hasn't, but is starting to dribble and put anything she can get her hands on into her mouth (including her hands of course )

Cabe · 26/01/2006 00:41

Nope he's not warm enough Will get to bed now!

Cabe · 26/01/2006 00:42

Oh and no, no teeth here... dribbling and chewing like Alice though

pooka · 26/01/2006 07:29

No teeth here either. DD got her first at 11 months but seemed to be teething from about 3 months!
Streaming colds all round and dd has a raging ear infection

LoveMyGirls · 26/01/2006 08:37

feeling a bit down feeling like a bit of a failure cause jess is still waking in the night and dp's mum got all hers sleeping through by now (jess is 17wks today)
she doesnt really want anything last night she was just laughing and chattering loudly to herself from 4am til 6am! WHAT CAN I DO? ooops didnt mean to shout n sorry for the rant x

Simplyred · 26/01/2006 08:57

LoveMyGirls - sorry to hear your down - you must be knackered - but take no notice of when other peoples babys slept through - we are all different - Jess will probably toliet train earlier, walk earlier or join mensa earlier! take care xxxx

No teeth here yet either - but very sharp edges under gums - rosy cheeks, hand knawring and buckets of dribble!

Thick with cold - urrrrrrrrrrr

PiccadillyCircus · 26/01/2006 09:22

Alice doesn't sleep through (at all). I know DS did by now and it makes me wonder why she doesn't.

But they are different babies (PC tells herself firmly)

mummyhill · 26/01/2006 09:38

DD slept through from 6 wks david however still gets us up in the wee hours of the morning so don't panic they all do things at their own rate and there is nothing we can do about it. Any one who gets all of theirs to sleep through by about the same time is just very lucky or their children have all grown up and they just think that they were all the same cause time does funny things to our memories when it comes to the negative side of child rearing.

We have sharp edges under the gum and the high pitched I am in pain cry as well as bad nappy rash nasty nappies and stuffing everything into the dribbling maw that is my babies mouth.

beatie · 26/01/2006 09:42

Lovemygirls {{{{{HUgs}}}} Don't listen to what anyone else tells you - especially MIL's! People don't always remember their babies' formative years with total accuracy. Plus, mothers were persuaded to put babies onto a four hourly routine back then, it must have helped babies to sleep through sooner.

If it's any consolation my Alice is a dreadful night sleeper. I think she's now worse than dd1 was. See... I have had 2 babies who are crap sleepers. I must be a HUGE failure

Cabe - thanks I'll try the Ecover stuff. Alice sleeps in a Grobag - and then has 3 cellular blankets tucked in over her, up to her armpits. Our room is cold at night.

We've all got colds too. I think I'm run down. Alice woke up so many times I cannot recall the times. I think we'll work on it over Feb half-term when DH is home daytimes so we can each catch up on daytime sleep. I need not to be responding to every wake-up with food but at the moment, we're so sleep deprived, I have to get her back to sleep the quickest, easiest way I know how.

Alica was 13lb 30z a week ago. Merrily following the 25th percentile I think. PC - what is your Alice now?

lexiemum · 26/01/2006 09:42

morning all. we have teeth here - burst through gum on sunday at 17wks,2days, earlier than big sis. we're all full of cold too, just wish dd1would stop wiping the gunk on her sleeve.

PiccadillyCircus · 26/01/2006 10:07

Alice was 12lb 13oz (I think) 3 wees ago. Somewhere between 25th and 50th percentile.

I think we will go off to the clinic this afternoon (if DS and I ever get dressed )

PiccadillyCircus · 26/01/2006 10:08

That should have been 3 weeks ago .

LoveMyGirls · 26/01/2006 13:46

thanks for your support everyone, i've been to get jess weighed and she has put on almost a lb in two weeks (that will be the solids then)
on the sleep front i've told dp that when she murmurs or chatters tonight he should just go and sleep in dd1's room so i can get jess sleeping through, so far because dp has to get up for work if she's not asleep he wakes me up (im a very deep sleeper but i hear her cry) to go and put her dummy in and put her lightshow on - which tbh wakes her up even more so if i just ignore her chattering she will either cry in which case i will put her dummy in or give her juice but im hoping she will realise that its still night time and go back to sleep.

On the teeth - jess is dribbling and chewing but they havent cut through the gum yet. she is starting to hold her little toys and is showing much more interest in her toys now and is a very happy smiley baby

Good to hear you're all doing well , apart from everyone with colds - we've got those too lets hope spring arrives early this year! i hate winter cant wait to go for picnics in the park with jess crawling on the blanket in the summer!!!

PiccadillyCircus · 26/01/2006 13:58

I'm looking forward to summer with nice picnics etc

Now Alice and I are dressed but DS is being a naked savage (DH's words ). I am being half hearted about potty training (quite a lot of wees in the potty, not many accidents) and he prefers to bare all for this

But I may get to the clinic before it closes (at 4pm).

Alice is starting to hold toys as well - it's so lovely .

PiccadillyCircus · 26/01/2006 16:13

Alice now weighs 13lb 15oz. So somewhere between 25th and 50th still .

There were about 12 people all having babies weighed. Standing room only at one point.

Decided to take the plunge and DS went out in pants . He was happy to sit on the toilet on our way into the clinic and on the way out and then did a wee on the potty when we got back. I feel very proud (of both of us )

mummyhill · 26/01/2006 18:47

Lovemygirls - try offering water rather than juice as she is just as likely to wake for the juice as a feed due to the sugar content.

David is holding toys and bringing them straight up to his mouth.

PC - well done to your little man you have every right to have a proud mummy moment.

Sounds like the little ones are all gaining nicely. Now I just need to find a miracle diet for me.
