Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

OP posts:

It sounds like he has a much busier life than Alfie. Does he like it?
He sounds like a social baby, if he gets on with all your colleagues.
Hotmama, how's it going? Have you finished sweeping yet?

OP posts:
jbadgirl · 03/02/2006 20:45

he quite likes hydro, given his poor vision it has helped with the bathing at home, and the pool is soooooo warm. ds falls asleep in there sometimes even though he is meant to be doing physio!!!!

He needs constant reassurance that people are around him but as long as he gets a cuddle he is ok.

KathH · 04/02/2006 17:14

hi all - had a really awful few days. Moley was rushed to A&E on Tuesday by his childminder after having a fit. He had to have a lumbar puncture and on Wednesday were told he had menegitis. He's on the mend now & we've come home for a couple of hours but have to go back to hospital tonite.

biglips · 04/02/2006 17:18

OMG!!!!!kathh..... menegitis????!!! oh poor little moley..... im so glad that hes on the mend xxxxx {{{{{{hugs to you and your family}}}}}}

biglips · 04/02/2006 22:33

hotmama - anything happenin?????

maisiemog · 04/02/2006 23:01

Kath, you poor thing, and Moley. Do you think he was leading up to this with all the restlessness? It's good that you caught it in time.
How is the rest of the family?
We went to out of hours thingy at the hospital tonight with Alfie, as he had a 39.5 temp and wasn't sleeping (hadn't really slept very well for the past three night)
He's got a small ear infection. I think it's my fault, because I noticed his ears smelt like socks, so I used his baby wash on his ears, whereas I normally just pour water over his head. Poor old boy. It pales beside poor old Moley.
Hugs to you Kath and Moley.
Jbad, Toby sounds a cuddly little thing. Is he really affectionate? What does he like to do at home?
I found Hotmama over on the Post natal thingmy (I'm not a stalker honestly, I was just a bit worried), but that was on Friday afternoon....

dont worry maisie as im curious too as ive looked on the antelnatal thread too but no sign of her so maybe???

maisiemog · 04/02/2006 23:10

Kath, I meant to say that Alfie is in with me and DP as well. We have decided to co-sleep. Alf starts off in his cot then comes in with us. He mostly naps in his cot. the number of times he wakes depends on whether he is teething or is ill, or in good health.
He often wakes when I go to bed, to get out of the cot and get in with me. If we are having a good night, he might sleep until 7 to 7:30. If we are having a bad night, like last night, we are up at 4:30 then 7:30.
When he is in good health and tired at bedtime, he probably wakes once or twice during the night.
We have just bought a superkingsize bed for the three of us and a huge memory foam mattress, so that my back can recover.
We are going to have to take down his cot, to make room for the bed, then we'll see how things go!

maisiemog · 04/02/2006 23:11

Ooooooooooo! Do you think??
Imagine what she must be going through if she's in labour!
I hope it all goes smoothly this time.
Are you in Liverpool Biglips?

OP posts:
biglips · 04/02/2006 23:12

yes i am? why?

maisiemog · 04/02/2006 23:25

I just remembered that you said you had the Liverpool club over, and I thought, 'Either Biglips is in Liverpool, or they travelled a long way to see her'

OP posts:
IslaAndMomma · 04/02/2006 23:27

i havent been on for a while and have tried to skim read to see how everyone is doing - i used to post as Slave2Babe (altho that was very rare so I dont know if anyone will remember anyway!)

(((hugs))) to Kath! Can't begin to imagine what its been like for you but glad to hear Moley is on the mend

we've had a few good nights of sleep recently (will probably regret saying that - i should know not to tempt fate). we had to try the controlled crying again and this time seems to have worked

baba has started tantrums! really wasnt expecting it to start so early ... if she doesnt get what she wants of if i take anything off her, she has a little foot stamp / clenched fist paddy tantrum accompanied by a high pitch squeal ...

trying to stick to my guns and ignore the behaviour but its hard not to laff sometimes!!! hope she's not gonna be a little madam!

anyone else experiencing this????

maisiemog · 04/02/2006 23:35

Yes IslaandMomma, Alfie does have the odd tanny. He just started doing it at Christmas time, and it was over...Quality St. He found a chocolate on the floor and I took it away and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! It was scary.
He's not too bad, pretty good natured in general.
I know what you mean about the sleep. Whenever it's all going well and you start feeling relaxed - BAM! It all goes wonky and you end up looking like a zombie.

OP posts:
IslaAndMomma · 04/02/2006 23:44

Well Isla's tantrum today was when she managed to get into one of our cupboards (locks are giving up from the abuse!) and was proudly waving a half empty packet of spaghetti - the other half having just been spilt over the floor! Whilst I was tidying up her mess, she was standing defiantly cliging to the packet and stamping her feet!!

Yeah, our sleep plan was thrown out over xmas when we were staying at my parent's. She's used to her own room and we were just getting to the stage where we could put her to bed and leave her to settle before on her own. However, its taken us since New Year to get back to that stage again ... but (everything crossed) we might be making progress again! Only had to pop in 3/4 times tonight and we relatively stress free for all of us

IslaAndMomma · 04/02/2006 23:52

BTW the name change was inspired by Isla! She sometimes repeats it 20+ times "Eye-ya ... and-momma" ... poor daddy doesn't get a mention

biglips · 04/02/2006 23:55

youre lucky as im called Daddy too!!!! Not fair! ... baba started to have her tantrums when she turned 1, i find it funny though but i make sure she hadnt seen me smirking!!

biglips · 04/02/2006 23:58

yes im from liverpool and the liverpool thread are my gang .

i put the reins on baba yesterday and she walked a good length before she plonked herself on the floor.. it was really funny cos as she was shouting "OI?" at everyone - like she is saying "look at mmmeeeee!!!!" but today my back is aching cos of baba kept on falling over and i thought seh was gonna pull the muscle in my neck!! - doesnt help when she is over 2 stone

maisiemog · 05/02/2006 00:06

I was thinking about reins for Alfie, after seeing someone using them in Ikea. Mind you it looked as if the baby was hanging on the reins, which seems a bit heavy going.
I still can't rely on Alfie walking around. It's like whenever we go somewhere he feels is a bit dodgy, like a shop full of clothes racks, he hits the deck. I think he feels more secure. Plus he likes mud. I took him out the other day on cobbles and he walked unsteadily on then then dived down and stuck his fingers in the cracks and came up covered in mud, then he tipped onto his forhead (deliberately) and got mud on his face.
There were some people in a restaurant looking out of the window at us laughing. Meanwhile I was trying to pick him up whilst holding his hands away from me and simaltaneously searching for a hankie.

OP posts:
biglips · 05/02/2006 00:08

LOL - hee hee hee - naughty alfie!!!

biglips · 05/02/2006 00:09

maisie - once you put the reins on alfie - youre in control then....im taking baba out for a walk in teh park with mum tmrw. let hope i dont end up in bed for teh day (crippled back)

biglips · 05/02/2006 00:12

hotmama is on the Feb 06 antelnatal thread and is seriously pissed off - 6 days overdue

hang on there Hotmama !!!!

maisiemog · 05/02/2006 00:20

Hee Hee! We have tracked you down Hotmama! You can't escape us!
We will probably turn up at the labour ward shouting 'Push!' and stuff like that.
Well it's been a long day, I had my friend's elderly father's funeral this morning, then the wake then hospital with Alf then home and now bed and tomorrow Work! Pooh!
Night Biglips!

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 05/02/2006 09:39

KathH hope your little one is better and Jbadgirl hope jay is now all better.
Poor old hotmamma! Mond you both times I have gone 11 days overdue!

I have put reisn of Grace too - but it wasn't successful at all - we got about 2 steps out of the house before she decided that the dog effect was too much. But no tantrums yet!

wedding plans going great - just need to sort out music, readings, seating plans and things like hair and make up!

Ohh and still need to lose weight - she says having been out to Zizis for a pizza!

cazzybabs · 05/02/2006 09:40

Reins I meant - god my typing is terrible!

and jbadgirl - how are your wedding plans - I forget when you are tying the knot - we have about 7 weeks to go!

maisiemog · 05/02/2006 13:20

Oh we have a Zizzis near us in Edinburgh and it's lovely. How much weight do you want to lose Cazzy? What are you doing the first dance to?
It's quite the thing in Edinburgh to have have disco half Ceilidh (which is a like the traditional group dances). Is there an equivalent where you are? (Morris dancing ? - maybe not!?)
