Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

ALfie was a bit odd with his shoes as well, but when I put his Daisy Roots or Starchild soft shoes on he started walking again. He's OK with them now, but it took a few wears. I think they are a bit stiff to begin with.
That was a fantastic bargain Kath, where did you go? Was it a chain store?
Hotmama could be on her way to the hospital now.

Biglips people used to always think Alfie was younger! They still look surprised when I tell them how old he is (or maybe I'm just imagining it). I think they are surprised he is running about and making so much noise at his age.

it was that exclusive, designer boutique known as Shoefayre. He did try & eat them as well so not a complete waste!

biglips · 28/01/2006 21:06

my baba is always hiding them!!!

maisiemog · 28/01/2006 21:13

Yes, hiding things that's what toddlers do!! I can only find one shoe, one sock, one glove. I can never find the cordless phone, dp's mobile phone, any remote control.
I found a branch of shoefayre, but it's in an area where you would have to take a bus, there's no way of parking. I saw some baby shoes in TKMaxx, but they were lace-ups, and I really can't be bothered with them on me let alone a baby.

Oh god thought I would sneak onto mumsnet while dp is downstairs - only choas has desended - all the nappies have been pulled off the drying rack to the accompanyment of huge fits of giggles....

dp is going to kill me!

hope you are all well.

How are all your little ones doing in terms of langauge development. I reackon Grace can say about 15 words - most only recogonsaible in terms of context and by us..she can do lots of animal actions and understands most things that are said to her!

Riebee · 29/01/2006 15:11

Hiya

The chimpster got his first shoes yesterday. I bought the cruisers from clarkes, he wasn't too keen to start with but has gone proudly wearing them to the DIY centre with his Daddy. We filmed him walking down the lane in them earlier, it looked like he was out for a Sunday afternoon stroll all by himself.
He is really coming on now and he can understand most of what we say to him but his vocab is a bit limited...nobody but family would know what he was on about. He likes to do animal noises and his favourite thing is sheep. He gets really excited when they are in the field opposite the house.
Aren't they so entertaining at this age? He has me in stitches. The other day he was wondering around with a pair of his brothers swimming googles on. He looked like a mini biggles .

Maisiemog...I'm still b/f chimpy and he is showing no sign of giving it up either. I didn't expect to do it his long but I'm justletting him get on with it. I am getting a bit fed up with people expressing such surprise when they find out I'm still doing it.It's like 'Oh my God are you?' I swear some people are horrified. I know my MIL would like me to finish but I think thats cause she wants him to stay overnight at their house.Do you know she even told my DH that if chimpy went to her for a couple of days then she could break the habit for us!! Boy did I have to hold my tongue on that comment.

maisiemog · 29/01/2006 16:04

Haha! Cazzy, Alfie says 15 syllables in a row of complete nonsense. I don't really know what he's on about, he kind of waves his arms around and makes noises. I'm trying to teach him to sign and he's like 'Whatever Mummy!'
I think he has a reasonable understanding of what I say. We went to Jo Jingles class last week and he had to put stuff back in a toybox at the end of a song, so I told him to go and put the bunny in the box, and eventually he did - and then he took it out again - and then he put it back in - then I went and grabbed him and said 'and stop now'.
Riebee, I reckon you should give Chimpy to your MIL for the night she'll be sorry.
I wouldn't really wish a night with Alfie on my mum and dad, they're both 62. I don't know about feeding him through the night though. Alfie does have cow's milk in his beaker when I'm at work, because I can't be faffed expressing. He only started it at 12 months, but he seems to like it.
He's supposed to have full-fat, but I keep forgetting to buy it, so he ends up having semi-skimmed.
When am I supposed to take Alfie back to get his feet measured?

maisie - after 6 weeks from the the first shoe fitting thats when you go back....

went to China Town in Liverpool and it was a lovely day out for it, fireworks were going off but baba wasnt quite sure whether to laugh or cry!!!

baba had started to learm her numbers up to 5 since yesterday so ill have to keep that up!

biglips · 29/01/2006 16:20

i think its funny when baba comes up to me and start having a conversation (baby talk) to me and is pointing at a eg button and i can hear her saying "Whats that?"

hotmama · 29/01/2006 18:52

Still here - so will be late again - unless I give birth in the next 5 hours!

I reckon dd can say about 15 words - and is good mimic but then forgets the word - eventually they stick.

Dd is really going through that phase of "Yeah, I know you said No - but I'm not bothered because I want to do it anyway" usually when wanting to bounce on chairs or turn the TV off! Looks at you, dead in the eye and just carries on! Bit too young for the naught step!

geogteach · 29/01/2006 19:02

DS2 said 'uh oh la la' today, does that count as his first sentance?

maisiemog · 29/01/2006 21:03

Geo, I reckon your ds and Alfie would have a lovely conversation. He could be saying lamp, because it sounds very like Alfie language for that.
Hotmama, have you been going for walks and all that? It's good to be a bit late anyway, at least you know your daughter is 'cooked', Alfie came out a bit early and he was only half-baked. That's mean, he's a very healthy little shrimp.
I bet she can't wait to meet her mummy.

Goodluck hotmamma hope it all goes well

biglips · 30/01/2006 09:44

HOTMAMA!!!!!!!! ARE YOU GONE???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

biglips · 30/01/2006 09:46

yeah... baba mimed everything we say... she is like a parrot!!!

maisiemog · 30/01/2006 10:05

I hope You're doing OK Hotmama, wherever you are. I'm trying to wrap a parcel at the moment, with brown paper, sellotape and a pair of scissors - excellent fun for Alfie!!!! He's being a nuisance. He saw Thomas the Tank Engine this morning for the first time and he loved it, I was watching it as well, because it took me back to when I was little. Sometimes it's quite emotional thinking about how I used to do all the things Alfie does and he's now doing them for the first time. Very nostalgic.

I just went back in to the sitting room and Alfie was sitting on the sofa eating vaseline from a tub, with the Tellytubbies turned up to the highest volume.

OP posts:
hotmama · 30/01/2006 10:47

Still here! Not feeling quite so snotty today - so perhaps my body will get geared up to produce dd2.

DD1 lurves the teletubbies - must press all the right buttons for that age.

Eek at the vaseline but pmsl

biglips · 30/01/2006 15:41

maisie - oh no about the vaseline - yuck!... baba found a little tub of flavour lipbalm and ate it all - yum yum!!! and the other day she went i nto the bin and there was a spaghetti hanging out of her mouth and a sprout too - eek!!!

biglips · 30/01/2006 15:41

hotmama - its finger drumming time as i hated when baba was 12 days late and i ended up for a induction cos i wanted it OUT!!!!!!

hotmama · 30/01/2006 16:28

Just bought curry for tea - to be followed by pineapple - not that I want dd2 to come into the world or anything!

biglips · 30/01/2006 16:29

and dont forget a bonk too LOL!!!

biglips · 30/01/2006 16:30

yes you do as thats why you've bought the curry AND pineapple - he hehe!!

hotmama · 30/01/2006 16:32

LOL I have said to dp that if dd2 hasn't made an appearance by the weekend then we need to do the deed at the weekend - I think I have scared him!
