Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
biglips · 21/01/2006 10:10

yes she is on the 98th centile

biglips · 21/01/2006 10:13

maisie - he will have his MMR

then the next jab will be pre-school (age 4)

the next "milestone checks" is 2yr, 3 yr & 4 yr.

and thats it (hooray!)

biglips · 21/01/2006 10:15

yeah baba is bottlefed as i only BF her for 2 days and i couldnt do it any longer - ouch!

maisiemog · 21/01/2006 11:16

I'm breastfeeding Alfie and am now an 'extended' feeder, which means more than one year. He is being a bit rough at the moment, which I think is linked to teething. I'm having to hold his mouth open a bit to stop him.
I'm very pleased with myself for feeding him for so long, even though there are downsides - like having huge boobs, and only being able to wear rubbishy feeding bras.
He is still a keen breastfeeder, so I can't see him losing interest in the near future. I'll let him lead the way.

ive just spoken to my friend and her 18 weeks old DS is size 2k !!!

maisiemog · 21/01/2006 14:55

That's not very big is it? I'm sure Alfie was more than that when he was born, and he was three weeks early.
Was her baby premature?

OP posts:
biglips · 21/01/2006 16:32

no her baba was born on due date and he was 8.8lbs.. i thought it was big! (im only learning about shoe sizes!)

maisiemog · 21/01/2006 20:11

I'm pretty rubbish at that kind of thing, but I do know Alfie weighed more than 2 kg. I worked out that an 8.8lbs baby would be 4 kg.
2 kg is about 4 and a half lbs.
Ickle.

OP posts:
biglips · 22/01/2006 12:47

mine was 4.1kg when born (9lb 1oz) so 8.8lb is about 4kg

biglips · 23/01/2006 09:35

morning all....

i love this little talk that me and dp have with baba

"Have you been a gud girl?"
"yeah"
"Have you been a bad girl?"
"yeah"
"have you been a little horror?"
"yeah"
"have you been making a mess?"
"yeah"

he he

maisiemog · 23/01/2006 20:46

Haha! Baba is just telling the truth, she's a good horror girl who has been making a tidy mess.
Alfie isn't too good with the speaking he is still stuck on mumumum and dadadad and ta and dat (pointing at something) and of course his word for lamp which is tattaleeela.

OP posts:
biglips · 24/01/2006 10:42

my baba is strange as she loves carrying heavy things that she struggle to carry and walk around the house with it!!!

biglips · 24/01/2006 10:46

AND ive just caught her eating out of the bin !!! yuck!!

maisiemog · 24/01/2006 21:12

They like bins don't they? Alfie has developed an obsession with soap powder, whenever he gets a chance he gets the measuring cup and walks about with it staring at it, he tries a bit etc..
So I'm having to chuck him out of the kitchen.
He is such a nightmare in the kitchen anyway, opening the drawers and cupboards, emptying them out putting stuff in the washing machine, pulling things out of the washing machine....
Help!
I'm getting tired now and I shouted NO! at him this morning, then I felt really bad for being so grumpy. He walked off down the hall going waaaah! and went off to find daddy.

biglips · 24/01/2006 21:14

well he gotta learn though hadnt he? as i shout at baba too but she ignored me half the time till i really roar at her (i havent got the VOICE!) as dp got the voice and baba bottom lip start quivering!!!

biglips · 24/01/2006 21:17

not long to go now hotmama - how R u feeling?

hotmama · 24/01/2006 21:21

Feel full of beans at the moment - calm before the storm me thinks!

Due on Sunday (FWIW) swinging between thinking I don't want to pregnant anymore but scared at the thought of dealing with two IYSWIM.

Dd is being quite cute at the moment - but she can't half holler when she wants to.

Hope you are all feeling well - thanks for asking after me.

biglips · 24/01/2006 21:23

well Goodluck for the big day on sunday if i dont hear from you before then!

i remembered when i was feeling like this too as was sssoooo terrified with my first baba... you'll be fine with DD1...

hotmama · 24/01/2006 21:26

Any hints on dealing with 2 will be gratefully received. At least I will only have to deal with them 2 days a week on my own as dd1 will still be going to nursery for 3 days a week and dp will be around at the weekend - phew!

biglips · 24/01/2006 21:28

sorry no advice as im only dealing with 1 DD and her dolly ..
phew thats good that your dd will be starting the nursery so it gives you a break and time to bond with your newborn!!

biglips · 24/01/2006 21:29

as my baba is a handful as ive had people telling me "Is she still on the go?" "yeah!"

hotmama · 24/01/2006 21:32

That's what I think, it is important for dd2 to have some time with me by myself. Also, been advised as long as dd2 is fed and watered (so to speak) to concentrate on dd2 to reduce jealousy etc - I'll let you know how I get on.

What is worrying me the most is bf dd2. I lasted 10 weeks with dd1 and would dearly love to bf longer this time around - this is my major challenge - I think. Have got gemmed up by La Leche etc - so hopefully will report that I have been successful this time around.

hotmama · 24/01/2006 21:33

Meant to concentrate on dd1 - must preview!

cazzybabs · 24/01/2006 22:12

OH hotmamma good luck!!!!!

Grace is being quite sweet at the moment - lots of kisses and cuddles mainly for Isabelle who is not impressed and for the cats who also are not impressed!

We bought her flowergirl dress on Sun - god she needs to grow ASAP! I also want her to have flowers in her hair so am trying to get her use to having a hair badn in her hair - he he!!!!

I am so tired at the moment - keep yawning all afternoon! Too much wedding planning and not enough Mumsnet!

maisiemog · 24/01/2006 22:13

Hi Hotmama. Oooo, it's all very exciting isn't it? You're going to meet your little girl. I wonder what she will be like?
I am still bfing with Alfie, I think the best thing to do is make sure you know all the benefits and be really really stuboorn about it, just refuse to give up whatever happens, it gets so much easier. Alfie is now on about 5 or 6 feeds a day including the one before bed and the one at 5am that he still wakes me up for. .
He's been a really quick feeder since 4 or 5 months and only takes about 5-10 minutes for a feed.
Just think of how healthy you and your new daughter will be if you bf and how much money you will save on buying formula and sterilising fluid or paying for an electric steriliser running every three hours. Plus no lugging bottles of water and powder and no worrying about whether it's gone off or is too hot, cold etc...
Have you made your birth plan? You are so lucky I bet it's really fast this time.
