maisiemog · 29/06/2006 14:19

Kath I'm so looking forward to teenage stuff Not! I don't know which is worse, lippy girls or silent brooding boys!!
And then they get (their girlfriends) pregnant and you're a granny!!!
What is Moley's hair like? Curly? Did you say he was fair???

me, Dp and DD had a great day at the formby squirrel reserve as ive never been before and took loads of photos of them on mobile phone, we were feeding them with their foods and also our grapes as we had a pinic but DD who never seen the squirrels before was shouting "MIRRELS" "MIRRELS" before they all vanished in thin air...i was trying my best to say "ssshhhhhhh" !!

my DD's hair is very fair as she is a strawberry blonde girl and quite wavy too -takes after her Dad - and also got a silly long (rat-tail i call it) curly hair on the back of her head!!

IslaAndMomma · 30/06/2006 20:47

Hi all. I havent been on here for what seems like forever! I hope you're all well. I've had a quick scan through some of the recent messages but its all a bit overwhelming when you miss a few months!!

Isla is growing very fast:

Isla1
Isla2

She is a proper little girl now.

It's quite sad how fast the time goes
But at the same time its really lovely watching the little 'uns grow

biglips · 30/06/2006 20:49

isla - them gorgeous curls!! and she is soo cute-able...

IslaAndMomma · 30/06/2006 20:52

Thanks biglips! ur DD is gorgeous too - very cheeky grin!

biglips · 30/06/2006 20:54

hhhmmmm!!! too cheeky at times

cazzybabs · 30/06/2006 21:59

Is Isla's hair orange or blond (sorry about the typos too much pimms!!!!! - Grace loves pimms). in thew 1st photo it mayches the dog - its gorgeous

maisiemog · 30/06/2006 23:19

Heeeheee, Isla is very cute, she looks quite a character.
Re the strawberry blondeness - It's funny Alf has a bit of a red thing going on as well. That's quite a few babies with a hint of ginge isn't it???
My dp had reddish hair (he says fair) when he was little and there are a couple of redheads in the family, it's quite a strong gene that red one.

i think its the lighting in the first pic that makes it look a tad ginger. the second pic is a better likeness! And after the really hot, sunny weather its bleached out a bit.

Did any of the other babas enjoy the footy? Isla has been fascinated.

biglips · 02/07/2006 00:24

im a red head and dp is dark head so DD is a light strawberry blonde

Hi. Just wondering who has started potty training and how its going. We havent started yet but I am thinking it might be time to try. Isla knows what the potty is and i think she sort of understands what its for. After bath time i did try sitting her on it but after a few mins she would get really upset and want to play with toys etc - tried reading with her sat on it but she prefers to sit on my knee. We had a few accidents where she went on the floor between giving up on the potty thing and getting a nappy on. So i tried pointing to the wet bit saying "wee wee" and then pointing in the potty. She calls the potty a wee wee and knows that when mummy and daddy close the bathroom behind them that we're going "wee wee"!

Not sure how we progress from here tho??

maisiemog · 07/07/2006 00:54

I've been sticking Alf on a potty for a while now. If you are going to start in a gradual way the best time to get results is after sleeping, napping, eating and bathing. Quite often they are ready to peepee around that time. I usually make a big fuss of Alfie and he comes with me to the bathroom and flushes the toilet and waves byebye.
Today I was leaving for work and I looked up to the window of the sitting room as I drove away. I saw Alfie looking out and thought 'Ah that's cute'. So I waved, and then realised he was waiiiiling and had his eyes closed and his mouth open. So I went off to work feeling sad. DP assured me that he always runs to the window when I leave and stops crying after a couple of minutes, but I felt so sorry for him.
He now has ten teeth: Mr ten teeth (like Mrs two teeth )

Well we have been really busy with all tobys appointments recently. Had one with the neurologist and she thinks that his probs are definately due to the urine infection I had at 28 weeks and that he does have cerebal palsy. She wants to repeat the mri scan but it will have to be under general as he is bigger and more wriggly.
We then saw the genetisist and he said the opposite but does think the mri is a good idea. Then we saw the pead and she think he is having small seizures and wants to do another eeg. She thinks they should video him whilst they do the eeg so they can compare the results. These tests cant be done locally as they dont have the facilities but a hospital in london does!
We also went to see the special needs school and tobs can go there from 2 providing the process of statementing has started. It looks really nice but at the same time its daunting. Toby comes to the nursery I work at so he is always close by, so having him go somewhere else will be hard to start with but I know it will be better for him.
Apart from the weekly sessions at theraplay, hydrotherapy, and his ng tube changes we havent been upto much else!!

maisiemog · 08/07/2006 22:34

Hi Jbad, that sounds confusing, but it's good to have some more information. What happens after the eeg?
When would he be going to the school, is this in a while or quite soon? I would have Alfie to go off somewhere (I think). Mind you on the other hand it would give you a break and he would have tailored care.
Any more photos of Toby???

Wow - what a week jbadgirl! you must've of been all over the place but at least things are starting to roll quicker iykwim? please keep us updated xx

biglips · 08/07/2006 22:58

is anyone little ones are a nightmare with their nappies atm meaning taking them off at so many times!! as mine had been for the past 3 days as she is ssooo naughty! as im getting the Easy up pants and as long she got her bodysuit on or pants on it will stay on! (finger cross)

IslaAndMomma · 09/07/2006 10:36

Biglips, isla's been in the pull up pants style nappies for a while now, cos she figured out how to rip the sides and free herself! the huggies convertibles are quite good too - you can take them off like normal anppies but you have to tug pretty hard to rip the sides. she doesnt seem too bothered about taking off the pampers active fit nappies tho - maybe they're more comfortable?

she's been sitting her dolly on the nappy the last couple of days - i've kept it handy so she gets used to it, and we spent some time putting stickers on it cos i read somewhere that its important that they learn it's theirs - she so sweet tho, she sits dolly on and goes "psssss" and then gives dolly a cuddle for being good.

we havent managed to get her to do a wee in the potty tho (there were a few flukes a while back but i think she was a bit young to understand). i'm not pushing it cos i'm not sure if she really is ready or not - altho the dolly thing seems like a really good sign.

sounds like you went through the mill a bit Jbad. i hope the mri goes ok. look after yourself and keep us posted.

cazzybabs · 09/07/2006 11:02

I am leaving potty trainning for a long as possible - I left dd1 till she was 2 and 3 months and we blizted it in a week! Grace does now tell me when she has done a wee (sometimes)!
I now have 8 weeks off - HORRAH but so much to do at school as I am moving classrooms and changing year groups- AHHHHHH!

biglips · 09/07/2006 11:05

isla - thats sounds a really good idea about the dolly on the potty, as i bet Isla is ssooo proud

Cazzy - 6 weeks!! hope you enjoy your time off

biglips · 09/07/2006 11:11

hope everyone had a good weekend as i went out yesterday with mum shopping in town yesterday and bought a few clothes in the sale as they are lovely stuff in New look..it was funny as i put DD onto one side of the aisle whilst i was looking for clothes and me and mum could hear some little one saying "OH NO!, OH NO!" and it was my DD, she was looking thru the clothes and was saying Oh no! to it - seh probably didnt like it

maisiemog · 09/07/2006 16:12

Hmmm! I still don't think Alfie is getting the hang of the spoon. He seems to be able to get stuff on it (not a lot) but then turns it upside down to put it in his mouth.
Oh well!
I put a photo I took about a month ago on the member's area of Alfie eating yog.

I have put on another pic of tobs "ds asleep again"!

Not sure what happens after the eeg, spose it depends on the results. They may not put him on medication even if he is having "seizure" as they can have a detrimental effect anyway.

The mri should be between now and october before he is 2, so should be pretty soon.

When he is 2 we can also apply for a blue badge!

biglips · 09/07/2006 19:54

jbad - your piccy is not worked.....

geogteach · 09/07/2006 21:34

Hi everyone.
Babygeog is just toddling along, he seems to have increased in confidence a bit now he can walk, great that he will now go with other people for a bit, not so great when he grabs a just one year old by the ankles, pulls him to the floor and sits on his head
Maisie I may have dreamed this but did you once explain somewhere on here how to replace the elastic in a totsbot nappy? Some of ours our giving up the ghost and I find myself getting lazy and resorting to the disposables supposedly reserved for night time and holidays.
