Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
maisiemog · 17/04/2006 23:28

Actually I think the guidelines are 12-14 hours per day at 18 months. He's definately not a 14 hour boy.
I feel sick, just ate a whole Thornton's egg! Yum! Ick!
Delicious.
Did the kitchen come yet Kath?

Hi Biglips!! Did you have a nice Easter?
Does Tweenie have a normal cup now?
I don't know if Alf should drink from a regular cup yet, I tried him today and he raised the bottom of the cup so high that the whole lot came out and soaked him. It was really funny.
I tried him again, with me holding the cup and he drank some, but there was still quite a bit drooling down his bib.
He can drink through a straw though, so cocktails aren't a problem.

biglips · 18/04/2006 10:34

maisie - ive got teh same problem as u too as DD grabs the cup to put it on the floor ! hmm!

cazzybabs · 18/04/2006 21:17

Biglips Grace is fine from a cup although she does tend to walk round the house and forgets which way up it goes and then retraes her steps saying "O Oh"

I have started feeding Grace again - feel much much happier. Just feeding her once in the morning, but might take up a nighttime feed again - I must be mad!!!

Was back at work today and Kids are in tomorrow - where did that holiday go?

maisiemog · 18/04/2006 21:54

I don't know if I can be bothered training Alfie to drink from a cup. He seems to manage when I hold the cup for him, but the minute I give him the cup, he tips it all over himself. I think I'll just wait until Summer, so I can give him a cup when he's out in the garden in a pair of shorts, then it won't matter. Grin
Aaah Cazzy feeding Grace. She'll love it though, they are still so little aren't they?
I think Alfie was saying teddy today, he was poking my old ted and saying isit tetty in a very quiet voice. AND he sounded like he was saying sse (step) when we were going up and down the stairs today. I'm probably just being a crazy mum thinking.
We went to ELC today, and Alf loved the sizzling kitchen, although it said it was from age 3, so I'm a bit confused, but he loved all the bits.
I tried him with the toddle truck, but the wheels didn't turn very well, and I think it would have trouble with our carpets.
He loves his wheelybug and balances things on it to push around Grin. Which wheelybug do the other babies have? He has the cow.
Oh I meant to ask, which cbeebies progarmme is your favourite and which one do you hate?

OP posts:
geogteach · 18/04/2006 22:10

Well working was a one off here - I spoke too soon, baby geog has obviously decided not to do that again, though I took him swimming today and he is perfectly able to stand on the side and jump in like a loony! Talking is a totally different ballgame he never shuts up. He currently thinks he can read - he sits there with the teletubbies annual going 'dipsey, lala, po, uhoh'. Aparently his allergy tests are all negative so I really don't know what is up with his guts but he seems quite happy as usual. As for cbeebies, Balamory has always been a big hit in this house and the fimbles is the work of the devilGrin

maisiemog · 18/04/2006 22:18

Oh I don't like Fimbles either! What's with that Pom character? It's the same size as the others, but talks in this stupid baby voice.
Alfie starts playing with his toys when Fimbles comes on.
He likes Balamory, and waves them at the end. Then he looks at me to see if I am waving, so I hastily wave and say 'bye'.
I like 'Lazy Town', it's the mad gay disco eighties techno music from the Netherlands.
Oh and Alfie still loves Tellytubbies. Again Again!

OP posts:
geogteach · 19/04/2006 11:38

Ooops that should say walking

maisiemog · 19/04/2006 15:00

Yeah yeah! I knew that! Grin
I didn't think you had found him a job. Grin

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 20/04/2006 11:14

Maisy I would buy the kichen - because I always found the ELC to over estimate age range - I guess it is safety (small parts to swallow).

Grace has a cow too!

maisiemog · 20/04/2006 18:40

The cow's are cute. I like the horns, but they're a bit dangerous with their super-strength springs.
I find Alfie likes to run into my ankles as much as possible OW!!!
He loves the kitchen so much, we nearly went home with Alfie clutching a plastic burger bun. Spotted at the last moment. Grin
I'm totally going to get arrested for shoplifting before Alfie's three. Shock

OP posts:
biglips · 20/04/2006 21:25

well Tweenie had got a musical Dj junior - how about that Wink? and Noah Ark boat with all the animals and also ive got her a barbie trike which was free - tweenie loves it as she cant reach teh floor as need to lower the seat down abit - hee hee

KathH · 21/04/2006 17:39

Masiemog - you need to train Alfie properly - what good is a burger? He needs to grab at cds and dvds! Grin

cazzybabs · 21/04/2006 19:51

ONG - what is all this report this post function - how long has that been there. I have only just noticed it!

No sign of AF - has been excatly 4 weeks today - am going to wait till tues and if no sign shall do test! (don't let me go to Boots!!!)

maisiemog · 21/04/2006 22:28

Haha Cazzy, yes the post function is very useful, I think it is a major contribution in the reduction of RSI. Grin
Hmmm! So what do you think about having to buy a test?
Kath, he ran into Game (the computer game shop) and started grabbing those big boys off the bottom shelf. A nice little boy helpfully removed them from Alfie's grasp and put them back on the shelf. 'It's alright' he said. What a little sweetie. I hope Alfie grows up to be a nice helpful boy like him. Smile

maisiemog · 21/04/2006 23:05

Oh had a bit of a day, took the car for its MOT and it passed, but somehow the buzzer thingy that tells you when the lights are on was disconnected, so flat battery.
All the local kids watched as we and a neighbour shoved the car up and down the carpark. They were all looking at Alfie in his pram, saying 'Oh she's got lovely hair (what hair!)' and 'Can I push her pram?' I'm like whatever? He wasn't wearing a pink floral ballet dress or anything, but they all seemed convinced he was a little girl. Does that ever happen to the other babies???
Do you bother correcting people?

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 22/04/2006 10:49

Ywp - everyone things Grace is a little boy inspite of the pick coat, dress, top, shoes etc because she has no hair!

biglips · 22/04/2006 11:23

same here as ive had it twice though and a old lady said to me "Is it a boy or a girl?" dd was dressed from head to toe in pink!! i just said sarcastically "its a girl as she is dressed all in pink!!"

but i thought maybe she is colour blind - oops!

maisiemog · 22/04/2006 23:11

I've just had a horrible night with Alfie. He wouldn't go to sleep and screamed for half an hour, and I mean really screaming, until he was gagging.
Finally we let him get up for a drink, he did poops and then thought it was playtime.
No! Back to bed with dp this time and he dropped off!
I've posted a new \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=3496&topicid=1700&threadid=166642&redir=3496\piccie} on the profile bit. It's Alfie in his red hoodie, doing giant steps up the stairs to our flat. He just loves stairs now and wants to practice on any steps he sees, which makes a trip to the shops take slightly longer than expected........
Anything yet Cazzy?
Is Reibee still out there anywhere??? Alfie keeps asking how Chimpy is?

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 23/04/2006 21:34

I am going to wait till Tues before do a test then I will be AF+4 - but keep fingers crossed. We went to a memorial service today for a freind of ours who died and DH had to find some photos of him and in the same box where lots of dd1 as a newborn - I think dh got a bit broody (I think that is the 1st time since I was pregant with dd1!!!). I just pray its a boy this time - he would soooo happy if it was (well if I am pregant that is). God sorry for going on!!!!

cazzybabs · 23/04/2006 21:35

OH maisymog hope last night was better!

What did you do about Alfie biting? Is he any better?

maisiemog · 24/04/2006 10:10

Cazzy, last night was worse, he was up and down until 11, when I went to bed as well. He was totally unsettled the whole night and kept feeding then sleeping, so thank goodness for co-sleeping, at least I didn't have to move.
It turns out he is getting two upper molars, so he is probably just uncomfortable and doesn't know what to do with himself. He's a good boy really.
He doesn't really bite, it's just occasionally and seems to just think he's biting my t-shirt.
It is nice when they are little isn't it. When I think about it, you can actually do more, because they sleep a lot and don't need to be watched like a hawk.
Mind you, the no-sleep thing was hell. I'm a bit worried about how you manage a toddler on two hours a night. Shock

Hello girls - just a quickie as I haven't posted for ages - been a bit busy! Wink

Everything is going O.K. still exclusively bf dd2 - I am sooooo proud and happy with myself! Grin Grin

DD1 is back to being a happy little soul, had a few issues at the beginning - dd2 gets kisses but not me or dp - enough said!

Got dd1 weighed last week and she is 29lb 4ozs - how does this compare with your lot. Dd1 doesn't eat any 'crap' but I fear she is a bit 'solid' IYKWIM.

Was thinking of taking dd1 to see the Fimbles live at the end of May - show is 90 mins including the interval - do you think she is too young?

Oh,oh forgot my other news - it was my birthday on Mothers Day and at long last got engaged - we have been together for 25 years come this July - so about time - so I am currently wearing a sparkly platinum and diamond engagement ring. Grin Have 2 bridesmaids sorted. Wink

Will catch up on all the posts.

Hope everyone is well and the lo's are smiling! Smile

jbadgirl · 25/04/2006 19:21

I had ds weighed yesterday and he is 17lb and 1oz! He has a lovely attractive feeding tube up his nose at the moment and will have for a while yet. He put on 8oz in a week since he had it fitted last wednesday. From jan to april he put on 4 oz.
So a little lighter than your dd hotmama but he is certainly on way to try and catch up!!

Had my final dress fitting on saturday and its perfect, only a week and a half left!!
