Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

OK then how is Tweenie getting on at nursery? Poor you with the cold, uck! I had a sinus thing for about three weeks, it's poops. There's something about this time of year and colds.
I'm very pleased with little alf, tonight we got in from shopping/walking at about 6:30 so I took off his nappy and sat him on his potty, then went and made his dinner and changed the sheets on the bed.
I went back through to the sitting room and he was standing up playing with his bead frame, so I thought 'Oh he must have got bored on the potty' I looked in the potty and he had done a poop. He's so clever, he did a poop then got off and played.
Saves his poor old butt getting red.
I think he's getting the hang of it a bit. Although it's hard to tell, as he doesn't say anything. Grin
Bye bye Baba. Sad

tweenie is learning how to blow her snotty nose atm and she hadnt called me Mummy since Friday - oh well...it will happen one day Wink

those application forms are too much hassle !!!!!

geogteach · 20/03/2006 18:56

Well little geog can say 'mamma' but his big brother 'nanex' is definately his friend of choice at the moment, he wonders round looking for him while he is at school.
I think he actually has some other type of food intolerence as we've had d & v for nearly 6 weeks now, waiting for a hospital appointment.

maisiemog · 20/03/2006 22:37

Congratulations Biglips. That sounds a bit hair raising, with your mum forgetting. Shock
Are you getting on better with her now she's moved out?
I haven't filled out an application in ages, but for a while I was completing quite a few, you do get into the swing of it. If the form is online, you can cut and paste the same old thing.
Have you got any interviews lined-up.
You'll be too tired to post, then we only post once a month on this group. Grin
Geo, is that Babygeog's new name 'Little Geog'?
Poor old boy, I hope it all gets sorted out soon. Do you have any suspicions about what's causing the reaction?
Oh I meant to ask, does anyone have one of those pop-up farm thingys? Can any of the babies popup all the animals yet.
He's doing well with his potty now, he carries the potty when he wants to use it. Tonight he carried it into the kitchen to DP and then they put it down in the hall and Alfie did peeps, then off he went again. He's so clever. Those babies are a lot smarter than you think. Grin

maisiemog · 23/03/2006 19:47

The latest developmental coup by Alfie is spinning round and round until he falls over! Shock
He has started to say a'o to his phone so that's progress for him.
Sleep he's waking a bit less early since I pushed his bedtime back a and cut the naps down. But it's so tempting to put him to bed at 7pm, because then I can get some peace. I'm like groan - another hour.
How's the job hunting Biglips??
How's Little Geog getting on? Did you hear anything about the food intolerence?
Is Cazzybabs married yet?
Is Evie sleeping 6 hours in a row yet?
Dum dum duuuuuuuuum!
Can't wait for next week's installment....

maisie - same to tweenie as she loves putting her Dads big work hat on and spinning around till she falls over..

ive just caught my DD on the top of the stairs as i was playing with her and she must've of flew up them stairs.. ive just put her back in the playpen now with a bottle... i cant even trust her in the playpen now as she had climbed out of it 3 times!!... im gonna have to buy some safety gates as still havent got any yet!! - oops! Blush

geogteach · 24/03/2006 16:32

Little geog has been to hospital today to have loads of blood taken to test him for just about everything under the sun and I have to get a poo sample, looking forward to that one!
At soft play today he knicked a banana out of someones handbag and proceeded to squeeze it until he had mush to smear everywhere, he was extatic, I have a lot of washing to doGrin

maisiemog · 24/03/2006 22:28

Haha Geo, banana is the worst!!! I remember soaking collars in oxi-action for an hour to get it out. Good luck with that.
Getting a poo sample isn't exactly difficult with a 17 month old though - on the plus side.Grin
When do you get the test results back?
Biglips, how does Baba walk up stairs?
I help Alfie down our outside stairs - we're in a flat. He either just stands there or he jumps down one at a time. The funniest is when I help him back up, he steps on one step, then the logical thing to do is to bring up the other foot onto the same step, regain balance and attempt the next step. Logical yes, but it's not the baby way.
No the baby way is to then bring the other foot from behind, bypass the obvious step and try to get it on the NEXT step. It's ridiculous.
It's like me trying to go up four steps at at time. He ends up leaning right backwards to get his foot high enough and totally losing his balance then kind of dangling from my hand. It's not going to work out.
Oh there's a ban on smoking in public places from this weekend in Scotland, so I'll be able to take Alfie into pubs now. He usually just has stuff from his minibar Wink
There are going to be a lot of people standing outside the pub tonight puffing.

Moley's vocabulary now consists of bec bec (for becca dd2) & dames (for james). He's had yet another stinking cold so have been a bit paranoid about his temperature! Hope everyone's ok!

cazzybabs · 27/03/2006 22:04

Hi girlw - sorry to keep appearing and disappearing once the wedding is over I will stop reading wedding chatboards and come back to mumsnet (phew says dp's bank balance!)

THE wedding is on Saturday - ahhh please pray for nice weather. We have had loads of people drop out so have some little - any one fancy a day out in Brum? Am praying I fit into the dress!

Today I had such fun - I went and had some (ahem - Boudair) photos taken for dp's wedding pressie! I hope they come out well!

Anyway hope you are all well.

cazzybabs · 27/03/2006 22:10

OH god I must proof read - I meant little tables!

I didn't have a hen night - as I wasn't really in the mood.

Anyway my frineds from work have organsied a cocktail and pizza night for tomorrow!

maisiemog · 27/03/2006 22:26

OOOOOO! Saturday! I hope it's a lovely sunny day for you. Boudoir photos eh! I reckon your future dh will be impressed. I would die of embarrassment, did you have a drink first?Grin
I would love a day out in Brum, but it's a bit short notice for me to come from Edinburgh. Shock
It will be fab though.
What's Grace wearing on Saturday?
Kath I hope Moley's feeling better. Is his dancing improving? I remember you saying he could only move his top half. Grin
Alf is now dancing with just his legs: up and down, a bit like that knee-bend policemen do when they say 'allo allo allo. Maybe they could join together and have a whole body dance. Grin

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 28/03/2006 15:22

No drink involved (well apart from tea) - I reackoned I'd given birth twice and as a consquence of that had women's fingers up my (you know where!!!), had a smear done, had a spray tan done therefore I could do anything and the company specalise in taking boudair photos of women and they themselves are all women! IT was fun!

Grace is wearing a cream dress from Debenhams with a feather shrug and is carrying a rose. Shall post photos as and when we get them!

KathH · 28/03/2006 21:34

Cazybabs - Grin at the "boudoir" piccies!

When dh & I got married dd1 & dd2 were bridesmaids dd2 who was nearly 2 sat in the registry office and one by one ate the flowers in her basket!

maisiemog · 29/03/2006 19:33

Haha at the bridesmaid. We've got a wedding to attend at the end of April, and the invite is just to me and dp, no mention of Alf.
I can't imagine him lasting for a whole wedding and the thought of him during a four course meal with speeches is horrifying. What is the normal procedure with teenies? For the first-timers amongst us. Smile

OP posts:
geogteach · 30/03/2006 18:59

Only been to 2 since having kids, 1st with DS1 when he was 18 months, he just about survived the meal (buffet style) and I took him upstairs to bed (we were staying in the hotel)during the speeches, it was DH friends wedding so I wasn't that bothered. Second one kids weren't invited - quite civilised being out without them! We've been invited to 2 whitsun weekend this year, the one we are going to is DS1 godmother and its in the highlands, so flights, hotel stay the works with 3 under 5's - i'll let you know how it goes!

maisiemog · 31/03/2006 08:34

Good luck with that wedding! It sounds lovely though, hope it doesn't rain. Do your older kids amuse the littler ones?
I'm thinking about taking Alf to the ceremony (because I can go outside with him) and the pre-meal part of the reception, then meeting my mum somewhere and handing him over to her. It's not that far from my parent's house, so I can pick him up on the way home.
Not sure about leaving him overnight, they might be a bit knackered looking after him for that long? Shock
We now have very few places where alfie can't get to, so he's managed to knock over about three cups of coffee, although he has been unharmed. It's such a nightmare, he loves cups?
