Ahh poor E, at least you know what it is and can have the appropriate anti- Bs. Good that he's eating too.

vik she had to work late which is fair enough but still annoying for me! Do you mean when does dh finish for Xmas or what time does he finish daily? I'll answer both anyway he's working til fri but they might send him home early on the last day, he usually finishes work at half 5 and is home just before 6.

Dylthan · 21/12/2011 19:20

mlisc I hope the antibiotics kick in soon and he starts to feel better. I also hope you get a better nights sleep tonight to.

tsc 3am Shock what caused them to get up at that ungodly hour?

vik This time 5 years ago I was in the same position as you just waiting for D to make an appearance. I can't believe he is going to be 5, time has just flown by so quickly. How are you feeling now?

I have applied for a band 5 job at work. It is only to cover someones maternity leave but it will be full time. I dont really want to work full time but it is only for 9months and then if my college wants to come back part time after then hopefully we could job share. I don't know if I've done the right thing applying for it or not.

viksam · 21/12/2011 19:21

dh both answerd are relevent, does he have much time off for xmas? My dh gets home around the same time, when and how do we ever eat around the table as a family?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 21/12/2011 19:46

I'm of the opinion that you have nothing to lose by applying Dylth. If you get further down the line and decide it's not what you want then you can withdraw your interest. Better than deciding you would have liked to apply but that it was too late.

Vik my dh gets home anytime from 5pm until after 7pm. The answer is, we don't sit down altogether and eat. My boys want/need their tea by 5pm and there's no way of knowing what time he'll get back. Besides, I don't like eating that early so they eat together, then dh and I eat together about 7.30pm. I figure that as much as I see it as important in the future when they can eat later/stay up later, it isn't a priority at this age - the priority is meeting everyone's needs so that's what I do Xmas Smile

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/12/2011 19:48

vik he's got the whole time between Xmas and new year off which is nice. I do dinner for 6 every night and unless dh is working late we have dinner together every night. The new baby will just have to fit in with you that's what I plan to do!

viksam · 21/12/2011 20:44

Sorry dylthan xposted, i second mylife better to show an interest, and if its not what u want a least u will know.
dh do u all eat at 6? mylife we work things the same as you by the sounds of things. Just couldnt meet everyones needs other wise.
Also, how do u stop a sleep association building up when u have to go and see to the baby so often through the night??

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/12/2011 20:51

Yup all eat at 6 :)

I'm in immense pain, period has come with a vengeance :(

viksam · 21/12/2011 21:02

Oh dh that sucks, are u taking painkillers and have a hot water bottle?

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/12/2011 08:15

No I try to hold off taking painkillers unless it's unbearable. I was fully prepared to be bleeding by now, put a pad in last night but there's nothing Confused

viksam · 22/12/2011 08:45

Hmmm thats a bit weird dh probably come with a vengance today. Take the pain killers, theres no point in holding off, i do know what you mean but if they help take them imo. How was ur night?
mylife Was E happier through the night? and how was W?
D didnt settle properly for a whole hour, thats unheard of, the one thing he is very good at is settling at bed time, he woke at 10 but then didnt surface untill just after 5 but resettled on his own till 7.20 when dh had to wake him up.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 22/12/2011 08:53

ds1 came downstairs at 9.30 (which actually worked out ok as I could give him some more antibiotics) and I got him back in bed at 10pm, but then they both pretty much slept through. ds2 woke at some point I think but no screaming until 6.50am.

Hope your period pains settle dh. I'm with vik, take paracetamol if it's bad.

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/12/2011 09:38

He woke up 3 times between 7:45 and 9:30 then he came in with us and stirred at 11ish then 6 and woke for the day at 7:20.

The pain has gone now it's like it never happened, v strange. I had the usual aching lower back and unmistakable crampy pains. I suppose it would be good to have a 'proper' period but I want a baby more Xmas Grin

CakeandRoses · 22/12/2011 09:43

who's feeling christmassy?! me me me!

got the day off today, children in nursery and going xmas shopping later with dh.

anyone heard of/making cosy boxes for xmas eve? my friend read about them on netmums (sorry!): www.netmums.com/activities/christmas/christmas-eve-traditions and told us about them on tues night. SUCH a great idea. so i've now added to my crimbo workload by having to sort out (and hide) 5 more boxes of stuff! am getting ridiculously over-excited about buying mags, popcorn, chocolate and PJs and hope the recipients appreciate them or i'll be v cross.

any suggestions for xmas film/s please? suitable for the DCs.

how's big boy doing now mlic?

how're you feeling today vik?

CakeandRoses · 22/12/2011 09:44

ooo need to make reindeer food for F & A's boxes too

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/12/2011 10:10

cake I'm feeling Christmassy too!! Even though it's v sunny and mild today.
Films for Xmas- Polar Express, The Grinch, A Christmas Carol there are Xmas versions of things like postman pat and Thomas the tank engine etc.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 22/12/2011 10:17

He's a lot better thanks cake Xmas Smile Hopefully he'll stay better though as he nose-dived maffisly yesterday afternoon...

He made reindeer food at sure start last week so we have some to put out

I The boys watched Polar Express yesterday and thought it was wonderful, I'd recommend that.

I'm really bored. I have LOADS to do, but it either can't be done with the boys around (ie wrapping presents) or it involves cooking and I'm not doing food shopping until tomorrow while they're in nursery.

Cosy box looks good cake. I have got all 4 of us new pyjamas (oh ok, dh's are tracky bottoms but you get the jist) and we will have them Christmas Eve and watch a film in them before bed.

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/12/2011 12:34

Ong I thought I'd quickly pop to morrisons to get some lunch and bits for dinner. It was bedlam in there. So so so busy, mile long queues on every checkout, people pushing past and everyone complaining.

I still need to get last min milk and things. I've got to brave tesco tomo or sat arghhhh!!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 22/12/2011 12:58

Last minute things dh??? I've got to do my full Chrsitmas dinner shopping.

Bah humbug

I'm debating about going when the boys are in bed tonight, but know I won't have the energy. I just hate the thought of wasting half of my last day off for the next 20 months in the bloody supermarket :(

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/12/2011 13:26

Well we still go to our parents for Xmas dinner so I haven't got that much to buy! Just essentials to see us through the next few days.

Xmas or otherwise, those wake-ups sound bloody killers tsc

Your plans sound great fun. Am a bit jel of your sociable new year. We've always gone to a cottage for new years since having DCs. I love it but looking forward to proper party ones again one day.

I've been out lots this week, out again tonight round neighbours for drinks - for the whole street (eek! Tis also full of millionaires so will be interesting to see who comes, what they wear etc!) And then for a thai with dh late on xmas eve but after that it'll be quite quiet other than going to my step-mothers boxing day.

mlic how's E doing now? Hopefully the meds are kicking in now so he hasn't gone downhill again.

Am having an uber-blissful moment to myself: tea and cake in a candle-lit cafe, tinkly music, no children. Feels like a holiday.

Thank you for the film ideas dh and mlic. Need to get off my arse and find a smiths or something now.

Am feeling super-excited about christmas this year!! I'm even enjoying making up MIL a cosy box and stocking!

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/12/2011 16:09

tsc sounds like you've got an action packed week coming up! Sounds like you'll all have a great time even if you are being woken up at stupid o clock.

D slept for 50 mins then came in and sat on my lap while I watched tv and he fell back asleep for half an hour bless him.

We've been to the park and he stood in copious amounts of mus and poo (I don't mind this time because I was prepared and poit boots on him even though he can't walk in them)

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/12/2011 16:12

Mus obv means mud*

Poit clearly meant put*

tsc I wouldnt bother with mince pies I think come christmas day people are pig sick of them, I would stick with what you have planned, new years is about getting tipsy smashed so people dont want to fill up on food, so nibbles sound perfect!

I have just read everyones posts but after a hellish day at work and bad news from my dad I feel numb, It has gone into his glands, something I didnt expect, dont really know how I feel but Im not dealing with L being a clingon tonight and dh is away, I have tried phoning him for the past 4 hours with no answer, a bit pissed off as he knew we were getting the results today.

So I have just bought my tea...very healthy, a 12 inch pizza, a huge bag od mussels, as dh hates them so I never do them and going to wash it down with wine and maybe some brandy I have found in the cupboard and Ive also bought 4 cream cakes! ive got mince pies to make tonight so this would make for interesting viewing Grin
