hi to everyone, no news really to report, although i am a very happy mummy due to the fact that i have had a reply from work and my job share application has been accepted yeah!! i finally got the best nights sleep ever last night!!!
dd has started changing her routine a bit since sleeping during the day in her big cot to almost 3 hours between 12 and 3 its a god send as she hasnt slept during the day for more than 20mins since born

kate100 · 14/01/2006 13:10

My darling boy has his firsat tooth!! {smile] He's put a lot of hard work into it and now it's here, I knew it was nearlt there as he was so grumpy last week and as it got nearer the gum he cheered up and now it's through he seems much brighter.

Suzi2 the runny nappy is to do with teething, it's often the first sign that a tooth is on its way. It has been for my little ones.

Miaou, are you feeling better?

Josey, that's great news about your job. I had real trouble negotiating my hours after I had DS1, so I'm really pleased you've got it sorted.

Has anyone's baby's eyes changed colour? DH, DS1 and I have both got blue eyes, so I expect that ds2 will too, but is there still time for them to change?

Miaou · 14/01/2006 13:17

kate, congrats on ds's tooth! Josey, well done with your job, that must be a weight off your mind.

No, I'm no better, thanks for asking though. I suspect I've got thrush too, and can't speak without coughing, so I'm feeling very sorry for myself atm. I am not a good patient - in fact I am very impatient!

Hi All!!

Kate100 My DS4's eyes have changed colour already. He now has light brown eyes but started of a bluey colour. DS1 was born with brown eyes already and DS2&3 both have blue eyes so no changing there. Ds4 is the only one and his started to change at about one month and were brown by two months. I don't know how long it can take!!???

DS4 ROLLED OVER all the way today on his 5 month anniversary!!! Only thing is he got his arm stuck underneath him and looked like a crazy beached whale trying to free it (which he didn't) and I had to go and 'rescue' him It was so exciting though. Even though he is the forth, I was there like a looney first time mum saying to DH and the other DS's 'look, look he's rolling over'! and clapping like an idiot

I hope you are all well and getting good nights sleep. DS3 slept until 9am this morning and DS4 slept until 10.15am!!!! Don't get too jealous though, DS1&2 got up at 5.20am!!!!

I am now on my health kick and have been out walking every day this week (except today) but so far not much to show for it (a bit early for results yet) but it is the 'going without yummy sugary/fatty food' bit that I am struggling with. All I think about all day long is food and it is driving me mad I am sure once the inches and lbs start coming off it will all be worth it (she says optimistically).

Has anyone elses baby cut out a bottle of its own accord?? DS4 has cut his bottles down from 5 to 4 a day as he sleeps so long at night I can't fit them all in. I feed him every 3 hours during the day and we still only get 4 in him and he doesn't need weaning at all yet.

pookey · 14/01/2006 20:57

Congrats to ds4 for rolling over dc and also to your ds for his tooth kate!!

DS was really ahead on the things they should be doing for the first couple of months but he still hasn't done rolling or sitting yet and he isn't as chatty as he used to be ... at least he is sleeping better now

Went for lunch with 5 other mums on thursday which was really nice

Does anyone have tips on administering baby gaviscon DS wont have it syringed, spooned or in a bottle and I am breastfeeding so can only mix it in to one feed? Also his bcg (think thats the right name) still hasn't healed is this normal?
Hope everyone is ok x

Azure · 14/01/2006 21:32

Hi all and congratulations on the baby milestones. DS2 hasn't rolled over yet, although I hardly ever do tummy time so don't know if that makes a difference, and hasn't cut a tooth. He doesn't so much babble as make strange squeeky noises. He is strong on his legs, though, and is desparate to pull himself up to sitting position, although can't sit unaided yet.

Pookey, when did he have the BCG? DS2 had it in the hospital and it took around 10 weeks to look better - it went through a horrible stage at 8 weeks (the spot actually burst on a friend's baby's arm).

pookey · 14/01/2006 22:27

Hi Azure

I dont do tummy time much either actually. He had his BCG about 4 months ago.

Miaou · 15/01/2006 09:55

what is bcg? Ds has had his jags at 2, 3 and 4 months (well, more like 3, 4 and 5 months), but that's it. Is bcg for tb? If so they don't do it here.

OP posts:
moschops · 15/01/2006 10:55

my little one hasn't had his bcg either, and i read that they won't be giving it to teens from now on. i had mine at 13yrs old.

had a terrible day yesterday, feeling very down and abandoned by so called friends. ranted at dp about loads of stupid stuff, but mostly about how useless and selfish all our so called friends have turned out to be. kind of annoyed that they were a big part of us choosing this village to live in and now we never see them.

feeling better for having a good cry though.....and ds slept from 6.20 till 6 this morning which is unheard of, had his bottle and went back to sleep for another two hours, so maybe having a decent sleep myself has helped!

wilbur · 15/01/2006 11:13

Hello to all the teething, rolling, sleeping (ish) babies! Ds2 started some solids yesterday - I'd forgotten how difficult it is to get spoons of gloop into a tiny mouth when two little hand are determined to grab as it comes towards them. He's also had a few top ups in the evening of formula as my milk is getting a bit low by then and I've run out of stockpiled freezer milk! Still planning to bf fully around the weaning, so hopefully he'll get everything he needs.

Ds1 was five this week - it's only yesterday that he was a teeny person like ds2, it seems, and yet it feels like he's been 5 for years too, IYSWIM. Everyone's growing up so fast.

wilbur · 15/01/2006 11:16

Sorry you're feeling down moschops - sometimes you do just have to vent! Hope you feel better soon.

suzi2 · 15/01/2006 14:28

Azure - my DS has stopped making proper sounds (gaa & ooo) and now just screeches & squeaks too! We're desperate for him to go back to making 'nice' noises!

Kate100 - DSs eyes are changing from slate/ble to brown/hazel though I suspect they're not quite finished yet. I believe it can take up to a year - especially if they are fair.

DS is at my mums all day as we're packing up for moving. House is a tip - we have far too much stuff! Just expressing for his supper and then I'm off to my mums to feed him before coming back to clear up!

moschops · 15/01/2006 16:06

have been to visit some friends this am and feel better for socialising with people who understand the demands of parenthood (they have an 11 month dd).

am wondering if AF is about to make an appearance as my moods are really up and down (quite dramatically so)

ds has discovered he can get hold of his own feet and so rolls from side to side holding his feet in the air, and this morning was trying to roll over properly......his motivation is the cat, whom he ADORES , he absolutely squeals when she comes near him, and is desperate to get hold of her. he is transfixed and watches her all the time, only problem is that she is still really a kitten and thinks ds is a toy, especially when he waves his arms about.

dp says as soon as our extra mortgage money clears we are buying a new bed as ours is quite old and not at all comfy, sleep being a precious commodity nowadays we feel justified in buying a new bed.

pookey · 15/01/2006 19:25

Hi All

Wilbur I have started giving ds a bottle of formula at night so he can have gaviscon mixed in(he really drinks that up!) and I think I am going to do the same kind of thing as you; keep breastfeeding but introduce more formula slowly.

Moschops know how you feel about friends, mine keep promising to come and visit and then cancelling etc. Your ds was obv looking after his mummy by having a good sleep that night
Azure and I both live in west london which I guess is why we both were offered the BCG - it is for tb and app tb is appearing more in areas of west london.

Suzi, so your baby has stopped goo gaing to, I guess it must be a developmental thing then which is a relief. Mine makes a right racket squaking when he gets frustrated by toys!

Azure · 15/01/2006 19:41

Suzi2 I don't envy you packing up for moving - best of luck. Moschops, sorry you were feeling down and glad you've had a better day. AF still hasn't shown for me, although I had some spotting after having a mirena coil fitted (my first one) on Wednesday. Miaou, yes the BCG is for TB - they only offer it in deemed higher-risk areas (i.e. London rather than Scotland!). Pookey, DS2's BCG mark is now a red spot, but harmless looking. Does your DS's look infected? It's my wedding anniversary today (6 years) and for the first time we haven't gone away, which I'm feeling rather sad about. This time last year we were in Rome. Still, it's DH's birthday tomorrow and we are going out to dinner, which should be nice.

Azure · 15/01/2006 19:43

Pookey, DS2 started crying in-between me writing and posting my message, so snap on BCG.

pookey · 15/01/2006 20:07

Hi Azure, happy anniversarie
The BCG is like a raised red lump - it had a scab but that fell off. Its not bleeding or green, maybe I should take him to the clinic and show it to the health visitor?

Man, I breastfed DS after giving him a bottle of formula with gaviscon in and he has just woken up after an hour so obv I have cancelled the gaviscon out.

kate100 · 15/01/2006 20:46

Happy Anniversary Azure, I remember you going to Rome last year. DH and I have been married for 4 years next month and we're hoping to have at least 1 might away, we usually do, but last year we were both really ill and missed out and I remember feeling really disappointed.

DS2's next tooth is on the way through, there's a red blob on is gum andnhe's chewing anything he can get his hands on. I forgotten how sharp they are.

All those whose baby's aren't rolling over, be glad they aren't on a hurry. Today DS2 rolled right off our bed, thankfully he landed on my dressing gown so he had a soft landing and wasn't hurt, but I still feel very guilty

suzi2 · 15/01/2006 20:58

Don't feel guilty Kate. My DS rolled off the sofa at my mums (I laid him at a bad angle - had flu at the time so have na excuse) straight onto wood floor. And he was only 3 wks at the time. He went quiet for a good minute or so. And then screamed. I screamed even more mind you! He was find though.

Moschops - my DS loves the cat too. But the cat avoids him. Maybe I can coax the cat to lie beside DS and give DS some motivation to roll... he's been rocking with his feet up (and in his mouth!) for a couple of weeks now but still has no interest in rolling - not even onto his side!

pookey · 15/01/2006 22:35

Wow feet in mouth - now there's a trick My dp bites off his toe nails instead of cutting them yuk!

dazedandconfusedmum · 16/01/2006 12:41

Hi everyone,

I am feeling really good today, the wlking is coming along well and I have just joined my local David Lloyd Club so am optimistic about the whole keep fit thing. I had better make the use out of the membership though or DH will go mad!! I couldn't get a space in the creche for the whole of this week though coz you can book 8 days in advance. It is really popular so I am gonna have to be on the phone at 9am tomorrow to book for Wednesday NEXT week!!!!

Moschops, I know exactly what you ean about "so called" friends. I had my first DS when I was 21 and I found out who my real friends were as none of them had babies themselves and only 3 stayed in proper contact. Even now I find it hard as I have DS x 4 now and most of my old friends still don't have 1 yet!!! I found baby & toddler group great for meeting people like me and when DS1 went to playgroup then nursery then school I met so many people I didn't have enough hours in the day to see everyone!!

Pookey did you find the Gaviscon made any difference?? DS4 was given it but it made no difference whatsoever it just made the milk a bit lumpy and kept getting stuck in the teat

Suzi2 I don't envy you at all moving house, I did it when DS2 was 2 1/2 months and again when he was 13 months and lets just say, I won't be doing it again in a hurry!! It is exciting though

josey · 17/01/2006 11:44

hi everyone

moschops sorry you are have been feeling low, friends can be your worst enemies at times, my so called best friend and chief bridesmaid did a runner when i told her i was preg with dd that was a year ago she still hasnt been to see me or dd.

happy anniversary Azure

DD is teething like made but still no sign, she has red cheeks sore, bum, hot mouth and drool is unreal, dh was doing the old flying babay thing and she drooled all over his face much to my enjoyment haha
no sign of her rolling yet, she hates being on her tummy, the last few days she has found one foot though(dont know why she hasnt found the other one!!)and she seems to pull herself over to one side so maybe that will get her rolling, who knows!

moschops · 17/01/2006 13:16

have given ds lunch two days in a row.......yesterday i decided to try him on some different flavours but he's not having any of it.

i had a load of Hipp foods in because they were on offer. he won't eat anything but his Cow & Gate breakfasts!! i tried him with all the sweet tasting veg like carrot/sweet potato and apple/pear mix.....he spits everything out and pulls a funny face. i gave him a yoghurt with his breakfast and after the shock of something cold in his mouth he ate it all and yelled when i got to the bottom of the pot.

i can see this weaning lark is going to give me a major headache.......lol my mum did say all i would eat when she started weaning me was the cauliflower cheese, which made her retch every time she smelt it!!

kate100 · 17/01/2006 16:20

D&Cmum, it could be worse, at my gym if you want a ballet lesson you have to ring at 6:30 in the morning!!

Moschops, keep going with trying new flavours I'm sure he'll get the hang of it.

DS2 now has 2 bottom teeth and his skin is so much better. I don't know if it's becaue the teeth are through or because I've moisturised him so much recently but he looks much nicer again.

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 19/01/2006 20:47

I can't let this thread go a couple days with nobody posting, can I? Not a whole lot going on here. I'm definitely having problems with the idea of waiting until 6 mo. for weaning. Caitlin's up to 34-36 oz a day and is constantly hungry. I know there they say to wait until 6, but here the guidelines are 4-6 mo, and the dr. says to wait until at least 5 mo. so maybe after mini-vacation next week and her 5 mo. birthday will start on rice cereal or something. She absolutely goes crazy every time she sees her bottle and makes frantic noises and flaps for it until she gets it in her mouth every time.
