Pull up a comfy chair, grab a cuppa and a piece of cake, switch the monitors on low and let's PARTY.....!!!

or the paint/chalk board thing like BC (look at second hand places)

DH said don't some fancy dress costume come in large boxes?

PenguinArmy · 18/11/2011 19:46

although DH also asked how much a millennium falcon would cost and mentioned castle greyskull

Bearcrumble · 18/11/2011 20:07

What about for your partners? I am stumped. I know DH likes fancy bubble bath and nice Scotch but I always get him those and would like a bit of a change.

BabyGiraffes · 18/11/2011 20:07

PA Grin at your dh... We've got quite similar things like the links though (damn that first child! Grin). Oh, and I knew what you meant about no presents (from you) because the GPs will give presents anyway Smile. Less simple in our case with little family, and I have asked my parents to not send anything because the postage would be more than the present is worth! Instead I get something and then pass it off as from them Smile

BabyGiraffes · 18/11/2011 20:10

Ah, partners.... Hmm. After nearly 18 years together I usually get him to write a list (tends to be mostly CDs and books) and then add a small thing as a surprise. And after a few pre-dc years of pushing the boat out we now try to stick to a budget of around £20 each (it's the thought that counts, right?).
We are also quite mean with the children and I suggested a budget of about 35ish pounds per child which dh thought was excessive Shock. I suggested he talk to some of his colleagues to see how much they spend on their children at christmas Grin

PenguinArmy · 18/11/2011 20:23

what about a big box filled with helium balloons?

BabyGiraffes · 18/11/2011 20:24

Excellent idea Grin although dd1 wouldn't let 'the baby' have them but claim them for herself Grin

StoneBaby · 18/11/2011 20:29

BG why not find a small present and put it in a big box filled with paint, balloon, stickers and loads of papers?

bc DH is going to have some computer related stuff, a top, slippers (one pair every 2 Christmas) and a book.

PenguinArmy · 18/11/2011 20:30

well she'll have to learn not stealing others possessions goes two ways Grin

actually I'm going to bag that idea for later on

InmaculadaConcepcion · 18/11/2011 20:41

so a few bed questions for ladies older DCs

(i) how long before they stop falling out? She doesn't even wake up. We have her old mattress on the floor next to it.

(ii) what shall I do when we stay at various parents at xmas?

PA what about a ready bed (look in Amazon) for when you go to the family?

I've put DS down for his nap and I'm now waiting to see if he'll fall asleep or carries on screaming/calling... Hmm I've tried a nappy free morning again and it was a complete failure today, 7 accidents - 4 in less than one hour (I got the feeling that he didn't empty his bladder fully the 1st time on the potty, hold it and then fload happened)! So he's back in nappy and we'll give it a go in a few weeks time. Screaming is going down... FX he'll sleep and I can rest...

StoneBaby · 19/11/2011 11:37

Still going... but I know he's tired...

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 19/11/2011 12:43

PA DD1 only fell out of bed twice always when having high fever (being restless I guess).
At family "ready bed" or mattress on the floor. If she is falling a lot put her on the floor at home too. other wise we had a toddler bed with a arm there again or you can buy a portable ones but they are not very good (for heavy toddlers anyway, might be OK for yours)

SB hope you feel better soon. and DS falls asleep.

DD2 seems to be ready for potty training now (grrr) I intended to wait till spring. Accident in snowsuits are NOT good. Not sure what to do? Confused.

She can jump with both feet joint, climb up and down stairs like an adult, is dry after most naps (sometimes even after the night!) and most importantly when she goes nappy free she holds everything until the nappy is back on (which can be all morning). She has no fear of sitting naked on the potty or the toilet, but she has NO patience at all.

We are moving house in a month. Shall I wait till then (no subway)? or do it now and risk having an accident in the subway (yuuuck!), but then we don't need snowsuits yet we might in a month time. She is not verbal yet but can do the "dance" holding front or bottom (or both, depending Grin) so she is pretty clear to decipher!

Just talking out loud, sorry, still Confused. I don't want to give the message "mama is lazy, you are fine in a nappy" and have a battle later on.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 19/11/2011 12:57

BC glad your DS is better

Xmas? we have santa nicholas 1st! small but we have to do it for DD1 's sake.

Xmas from us will be not much either BG I stick around 10 pounds/20. (but I also buy for each set of grand parents)

BigBlueBear · 19/11/2011 12:58

Can't remember who said what and am in a tearing hurry as ever, but I just wanted to say that i had a ReadyBed for DD1 and found it a nightmare. It took ages to put up (mean mummy refused to fork out for the auto-inflating model) but worse than that, it was incredibly noisy! Every time she turned over in her sleep, or even moved at all, it made a really loud plastic creaking noise that woke her up. A mattress on the floor, or even a bed made out of pillows and duvets is much better.

Christmas shopping, including wrapping paper, done here too. DH has a Kindle and some PJs. The DDs are getting lots of little things (clothes, books, toys bought second hand), with DD1's biggest present a VTech interactive globe I bought on Ebay, and DD2's main present a toy camera I bought at a PTA sale for £2.50.

StoneBaby · 19/11/2011 15:09

mous I would say that if she's ready to do it do it, but I can see the issue on the subway Confused Now after weeks of telling us when he's doing a poo he denies having done one Hmm Where are you moving??? (soory I'm too curious)

BabyGiraffes · 19/11/2011 17:01

mous We also have St Nicholas coming on the 6th of December but it's just a chocolate santa and a satsuma left mysteriously in the children's shes Grin

BabyGiraffes · 19/11/2011 17:55

shoes

StoneBaby · 19/11/2011 20:28

DS finally had a 40 mn nap at 3.45pm, but he then woke up extremely grumpy, folloed by a 40 mn clingy tantrum! We managed to calm him down finally by putting Noddy on tv. But on the plus side, he ate all his dinner baked beans on toast (1st time he ate some) but I'm not sure his digestive system is ready for them Shock

PenguinArmy · 19/11/2011 20:40

:( doesn't matter how tired DD is, bar illness, attempts to put her down early resulted short naps hours later

hope tomorrow is better, house days are so much harder. Can DH take him out for a few hours tomorrow?
