Here we go, was going to write something lovely and meaningful, but I'm not very good at it so I'll leave that to someone else.....

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 09:36

yep londoner, thursday is good for me! lol at you loving that pizza too..so good!
anyone else?

thanks for advice and links on slings. i like the fabric ones with rings but need a 'manly' one that dp can use too..hehee
wilkinet looks good, and they have a red one too! yey!

Busyalexsmummy · 30/01/2006 10:29

I can vouch for the babybjorn sling, i bought it after alex was born, used it till he was 8months and am using it for alfie too. its a comfortable sling and very easy to put on and off, its great too as if they fall asleep and you dont want to disturb them you can lean over a bed and unclip it carefully without having to wake them up

Enthusia · 30/01/2006 12:03

Just uploaded some photos. What a cheeky lot we've got!!!!!! Loved looking at everyone's little ones, they all look so happy and healthy!!!

Not feeling so angry now. Not sure what I am going to do next, will just go with it for the mo and see what comes up.

Sam is doing really well, slept from 9.30 til 9.30 WOW!!!!!!! He is alseep again now after a very energetic first swim. He was great!!!! Will try and go weekly now. The swing is also working and we are finally able to eat in peace.

Left Sam for first time on Friday night and went to DH's work do. Typical do, but nice to have 5 or so hours off. Made him even more special when we got back.

Looks like I may well be coming to Sheffield sorry to gatecrash, hope you don't mind!

Am also going to Liverpool for the day on Wednesday this week and may be in Newcastle on Friday! Sam will definitely be well travelled by the time he is 1.

Right hope you are all ok

Enthusia and Sam 12 weeks Wednesday.

Diege · 30/01/2006 12:23

Hi Enthusia! Glad to hear swim went well - he certainly seems a very contented baby . Yeah!!!you're coming to Sheffield! Will be very exciting; we will have to start thinking about where to meet in the Meadowhall (does anyone actually know it well enough to suggest a venue, or shall we say 'food hall'? May be harder to spot Rodeo, though I'm sure she will see us first with 3 buggies!)
Anyone recommend anything better than Sudocrem for nappy rash? Libby's gone mad on the pooing front, and her poor bot is suffering!
Right, am getting her up and going to Morrisons as she hasn't settled,
Diege and cross Libby.

Londoner · 30/01/2006 12:41

Hi, Enthusia, love your photos, esp the just born one, wow!
Diege, oh poor you and Libby on the nappy rash. I can recommend changing nappies ridiculously frequently for the day and leaving her with her nappy off as much as poss till it clears up, kicking about on the towel for extra long at nappy changes etc, also lay off try cleaning with cotton wool and water rather than baby wipes (you may do this anyway) or a flannel and after making sure it's really dry putting on a barrier cream such as zinc and castor oil cream from any chemist, I use it every time as a preventative........ good luck, hth?

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 12:48

diege - i tend to use bepanthen cream - it cleared oskars rash literally overnight and it hasn't returned since..
here it is

i know i'm not coming, but i know meadowhall well, and the food hall is pretty darn big! you'd be better choosing a specific place.

can someone who has my email please send me an invite to the yahoo group? can't wait to see your ittle darlings!

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 13:07

thought you all might be amused to hear me and oskar have been cowering in this room for an hour or so hiding from the biggest wasp i've ever seen. it was in the hall so i've opened all the windows in the rooms off it and shut us in here while it finds its way out..i'm listening against the door and can hear it buzzing..argh..
now would this be a reasonable excuse to call dp at work ...lol

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 14:18

it's still there..i swear i can also hear its massive wasp body banging on the door as it tries to get in.
oskar has been sleeping blissfuly unaware of this crisis, but i'll soon have to venture out into the hall to get him some milk and get ready to go shopping.
why am i such a wuss? help!

goldenoldie · 30/01/2006 14:56

Londoner - have got a few numbers from the twins group, but if you know of any good nanny agencies that are not extrodinarily expensive, let me know. One mum told me the fee for one agency was nanny's monthly wage!

Diege - 1lb a week is not enough for me, not with two stones to lose. Got a personal trainer as well now - hope that will shift a bit of weight.

will start a SW thread - where shall I put it?

BOb - thanks for the tip.

Diege · 30/01/2006 15:39

Thanks for the nappy rash tips Londoner and BOB; will try both creams, and laying off the wipes for a while. Never had this with dds 1 &2, so appreciate the advice . Thanks for food hall tip too! Can you imagine us having to put out a public announcement 'If there is a Rodeo, a Rodeo in the building meeting a 'Diege, Enthusia, and Twinkle'...
BOB: you must confront your wasp - a rolled up newspaper will do the job - be brave!
GOLDEN, good on you for getting a personal trainer sorted out! You will be proud of me at this minute, finishing off a packet of rich teas before SW meeting - well, it's the only week I'll be able to do it . Am totally clueless about starting threads etc.. I guess it would be somewhere under postnatal, but am only familiar with the clubs... Sorry to be so useless!
Just glanced across at Libby and she is transfixed by the Shiny Show, smiling and cooing at the cat ...well, if it keeps them happy...
Diege

goldenoldie · 30/01/2006 15:53

diege - sw thread in food and in post-natal.

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 16:13

Diege pmsl, at the public announcement idea...would lighten the shoppers moods, makes a change from ''would mr. f smith please meet his family at the statues in market hall'' (any of you who've been there must have heard suchlike so many times)

the wasp left yay!
I could never do the newspaper thing again, i tried once but only half hit it ,and it came back and got me..grr...
one time when we were students dp was away and i caught a wasp under a glass but was too scared to let it out the window incase it came back in and got me so it just sat there on our bookshelf until my friend came round and let it out, the poor thing was half dead...(wasp..not friend)

I have won the wilkinet sling in red on ebay for £15..real pleased!

golden..personal trainer! wow, i need that kind of thing, it leaves choice out of the equation at a time when choice is your enemy,

speaking of weight i wondered, if oskar has a 6/7oz feed 9which he usually does)just before we go to the clinic surely he will weigh more than if he's just due a feed, or am i being clueless with that?

tessasmum · 30/01/2006 16:18

Hoorah for CBeebies I say

Sorry I haven't posted for ages, I've have been stuck in Tax Return land. Not that I have much to put in it but trying to do it with a baby on my lap/breast and a toddler demanding CBeebies website/a drink/a wee/a cuddle/etc its been a trial! Done now and back to MN

ChaCha - I"m always thirsty and seem to drink loads. I even get a dull headache occasionally to let me know I'm dehydrated. I don't remember it being as bad last time but then this one is growing so much faster than Tessa that he must be drinking more!
I also eat for England Last time I ate everything in sight and the weight just dropped off, ended up being 1/2 st lighter than pre-pg weight. It did creep on a bit after I stopped bf (at 12 months). This time it seems to be coming off slower (but then someone did put Christmas in the way and I REALLY snacked through it!) Also I may be more aware of wanting to lose the weight this time as nothing fits and I can't afford new inbetween clothes
Better go as someone has just exploded in a nice, clean nappy!

K8 and Ash - 12 weeks today (where has that gone? )

tessasmum · 30/01/2006 16:21

Hoorah for Wilkinet slings too
If it doesn't come with instructions BoB I can email them - you will need them to start with but its dead easy with practice.

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 16:42

thanks tessasmum..it doesn't come with instructions and i thought it would be simple enough, but if you say not i will certainly neeed help
at the moment i am doing a silly improvised sling, i am wearing one of dps old vneck jumpers with a belt around it on my waist..oskar is happily tucked up inside with his head poking out..
don't worry for me though, this is only a good arangemment for indoors when noone else is around and i need to clean or want to blah away..hehehe

Londoner · 30/01/2006 16:52

Golden - sorry, no nanny contacts here I'm afraid, was just interested to hear about your news really....
BoB - lol at you and your wasp... hope it hasn't blown down the hill to Greenwich! Love your improvised sling, sounds like the sort of thing I'd do, I'm liking it!
Tessa! Good to hear from you! Well I'm not surprised you're eating loads with your constant bf, you must need the fuel....
Well done on the tax return, must be such a relief to wrap up!
Am desperately trying to find a good reason to wriggle out of taking E for her jabs tomorrow....... well I haven't managed to secure someone else picking up dd1 from school yet, which is neccessary as stupid clinic only does appts between 2 and 3.30 and they've given me a 3.20 which I had to book over a week ago, can't help thinking it's much better to give them jabs in the morning......

Londoner · 30/01/2006 16:56

Oh by the way BoB you can get

wilkinet instructions here

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 17:01

real shame actualy golden, our old flatamte was the most lovely girl ever, and had worked in the u.k for the last 10 years, mainly nannying, but while she was with us she was a full(ish) time nanny, barmaid at weekends and occasional babysitter for her cousins kids
shes sadly gone back to hungary to get married, but she has passed on to me her friends numbers who me and dp plan to use (hopefully soon if dp gets his expected promotion)
otherwise my cousin and his wife have a nanny share with neighbours, through an agency based in notin hill, i can ask for the details if you are interested.
that might be the best way to go if finances are a concern..

goldenoldie · 30/01/2006 17:44

BOB - thanks, with twins I def. need someone with NNEB or level 3, first aid and CRB checks, so will prob. have to go via agency.

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 17:49

golden, could you not consider nanny shar ayway, by which i mean some agenxies will pay a full time wage and then she splits time between the families or sometimes (though obviously not for yours young as they are) has two families kids at once.
i do know they are really good as an agency overall, but not sure if they cover your area of london

goldenoldie · 30/01/2006 20:35

BoB - yes a nanny share would be ideal - as long as it was exclusive on the days she had the twins, but still need to find nanny/agency.

goldenoldie · 30/01/2006 20:37

Diege - SW thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1378&threadid=133924&stamp=060130202047

BEKsmum · 30/01/2006 21:06

Evening girls,

Enthusia what a spineless bunch your lot are at work, the Head can't be that good if she can't take a bit of healthy competition. It's the schools loss if they aren't prepared to let you move them forward, it the kids i feel sorry for most as you are obviously a very dedicated and motivated teacher who wants to make the school the best it can be.

Diege have you tried Metanium for Libby's bottom, it's very thick and smells horrible but works wonders.

Londoner, if it makes you feel any better Thomas has his jabs at 2pm on Wednesday so we can feel sorry for ourselves and them together on Wednesday night - at least you know I'll have a moany baby too!!!

Tessamum welcome back had wondered where you had gone, glad to hear Tessa and Ash are doing well.

Have just heard Thomas's first proper giggle, dh was ticking the top of his leg and he was chuckling away - melts the heart doesn't it.

lol at the shopping announcement - we really should swap real names at some stage. Jenjam thought my name was Rebecca needless to say it's not BEK are Ben's initials!!!

Right best go and take over from dh, I'm out for a girls night tomorrow so had better do my bit tonight. Hoppe you are all well, Speak to you all later Beks

LilJ · 30/01/2006 22:33

Hi everone.

So now I'm in day four of my temporary single motherhood and boy am I glad that I have a partner/husband. Doing everything on your own is tough - even though my brother and friends are helping out it's been just the two of us most of the time. I now have total respect for Mums who do it on their own - it's amazing how much you need someone to just hold your baby for a short while each day to make life easier! I practically forced him into the arms of my cleaning lady today so I could have a pee! I am soooooo looking forward to having Daddy back on Thursday!

J xx

Enthusia · 31/01/2006 07:13

LilJ, know how you feel DH is out at work at least 12 hours a day, and is now away most weeks - that is why I gatecrash and go with him - just to have a pee on my own - BLISSS

Beks - thanks so much fr your thoughts on my school. The school was always hard work because of the head, we even held a meeting with the governors about her when I was there, but she has been there for 18 years as has the head of governors who is her best friend so we had no chance of changing her. I did, however wrongly, think that as deputy I could help the kids and change things whilst allowing the head to fade into the background (as she would like to do) so make both her and the school'd life easier. Unfortunatly I think she thought I would try and out her or just wanted too much change - I mean what school needs planning? Anyway, will see what comes up - just wish they had the balls to tell me, I had the balls to ask if I had her support before I put the application in, asking did she want me to put it in or would she rather i didn't, and she said to put it in. Spineless lady.

Right I am off to Liverpool this evening. Only one night and not doing Warrington or Manchester so can't see Twinkle or Diege bit short notice anyway!!!!! Seeing you next week though!

Right must pack.
