Here we go, was going to write something lovely and meaningful, but I'm not very good at it so I'll leave that to someone else.....

Londoner · 01/02/2006 10:25

ChaCha - we're worried about you, is erverythig okay?

Rodeo · 01/02/2006 10:31

Morning!

Glad you had a great time last night Beks! Makes a lovely change doesn't it, although when 5-6pm comes I always start to think 'Can I be bothered?'! I'm going round to a friend's tonight for a takeaway for her birthday, which means I'm going to miss that bfing prog on 4!

Tessasmum, I hate cordial! Full fat coke is my downfall at the minute! KWYM about birthdays, it's funny but in our group of friends there's loads of b'days in Feb and March too! I'm the only one with a new baby too so when the boy's (they're all boys!! All 8 of them!) go to school I'll be on my own! I really must get round to making some new friends with new babies!

Diege, well done with the application! What is it for? Fingers crossed for you!

TEX!! Welcome back! Hope Tobes and little Rosie are well! I can vouch for Beks, she did say she was going to cat you about the last meet! Have a great time on Thurs al of you, I'm meeting S&Lsmum this afternoon, we're taking babies and toddlers to a mother & toddler sesh at a soft play centre, which will be good

I'm getting really fed up and depressed with this cold dark weather, think I get that SAD disorder mildly but it seems worse every year. I'm thinking about investing in one of those light boxes. Do any of you know anyone who's got one??

Right, need to bath Jess as I've just noticed the cats been licking her while under her gym and given her hair an unusual cat lick style! Urgh!

LOL Tessasmum, after readng Londoners post I realised I misread yours! I though you were giggling to yourself about the cordial calories I thought 'it's not that funny' but then thought well childbirth and babies can do funny things to our sense of humour.... I'm always laughing at daft things.....but it was Ash, awww, how lovely!

Londoner, poor E, never thought that their legs coud ache after jab's but I bet it does, it makes sense doesn't it? Need to ring doc's to rebook Jess's now her cold's about gone.

Jess has now nodded off on the floor under her gym, the cat must have lulled her off! Just popped a blanket over her....

Right I'll get on with the housework then instead

Morning girls, thanks for all your support re the PND, the happy pills are kicking in now so feeling a lot better, had a good chat with my HV yesterday about it, but then went and offended her by asking if she had kids - needless to say she didn't, which led the conversation down the lines of how can you do this job or be a midwife (which she was previously) if you haven't been in the situation etc etc. Oh well I'm sure she's had the conversation before, but I did feel a bit bad afterwards

Londoner glad you had a good night with Elizabeth, it's horrible isn't when they have to have a jab in both legs because you just can't hold them to comfort them, hope you had a big glass of wine last night for being so brave See you tomorrow.

Golden well done for losing 5/6 pounds that's brilliant, could you send some of your will power this way please

Diege well done for getting your form filled out will keep everything crossed for you.

Tessa I'm with you on persevering with the PN group, I made some great friends at Ben's group and like you we're just entering the b'day rush, it starts today in fact with Ben's bestfriend.

Rodeo, just re read your message about Jess & the door, poor little mite, very clever for rolling over though, I'm sure you were a very proud mummy!

Right best go as have a guy from Anglian Windows coming in a minute to give us a quote, more expense! Hope everyone ia having a good day. Beks

Londoner · 01/02/2006 11:02

Rodeo, love the cat babysitting Jess routine , could be onto something there......
BEKs, about toe-curling HV conversation, glad you get on with her though, you were just curious right? They ask us so many questions it only seems polite to ask some in return doesn't it, sure you didn't mean to offend.

novadandypowder · 01/02/2006 13:53

Tessasmum - my DH can just about work out how to put the Baby Bjorn on so he'd be in a right tangle with the Wilkinet! He's also a lot bigger than me so I don't think it would fit him properly.

Rodeo - I can't bring myself to face Natalie outwards in the sling in this weather, her little face would get so cold. Also, she tends to drop off to sleep as soon as she's put in it, so it makes more sense to keep her facing in. I also really love being able to kiss her face all the time

Met a mum from Netmums today, she was really lovely with a daughter born 10 days after Nat, and doesn't live a million miles away. We've arranged to meet up for lunch before the cinema on monday

Yoga was fab yesterday - for once Natalie was very well behaved!!!!

Our cats are a bit scared of Natalie. They sometimes sniff her but if she moves they run away. They're in for a bit of a shock when she starts walking!

babyonboard · 01/02/2006 14:05

hi all..
still no news from chacha? hope she's coping okay now her dad has left.

oskar has taken to wriggling to the side of his crib that's alongside our bed and reaching his arm out onto my pillow..so sweet!
i have to keep moving him though as he bangs his head on the bars - not good..

did we arrange a time etc for meeting tomorrow? and whereabouts in zerodegrees? the restaurant area is non smoking i believe, but thats upstairs so not sure how we'd manage with the babies.

Londoner · 01/02/2006 14:15

How about midday? Stairs not a prob for me as will use bus/sling, think beks will prob have Thomas in a car seat, what about you bob? And Tex? Shall I go ahead & book a table for 4 adults/2 kids.... or shall we just turn up? Do Ben and Tobes need high chairs? Or do they normally use adult chairs now?

novadandypowder · 01/02/2006 14:21

Chacha did say she was trying to wean herself off too much MN.

Londoner · 01/02/2006 14:32

Just thought, upstairs might be no good for beks and tex with active lo's?
Hopefully ChaCha is spending blissful quality time with Zayn.
Anybody knowledge of Mirena coil? Sorry v. personal question I know , have booked in for one but am having doubts since reading worrying thread on the subject..

babyonboard · 01/02/2006 14:35

i'll be walking there with the pram, so stairs aren't too good for me.
what about the sofa areas in the bar..it'll probably be pretty empty at that time of the day and more spacious than the 'proper' tables

babyonboard · 01/02/2006 14:45

..unless of oursae the sling arrives tomorrow- i hope so...

Londoner · 01/02/2006 15:05

Sofas sound good to me BoB!

BEKsmum · 01/02/2006 16:51

Londoner / BOB, I'll have the buggy, so the sofa area sounds good, Ben definitely doesn't need a high chair, he's about as tall as most of them!!! Is the restaurant on the bit facing the heath or is it further into the village - I didn't notice it last time I was there?

Thomas has had his jabs and has spent most of the day asleep, I'll probably pay for that tonight but I'd much rather he is comfortably asleep rather than awake and grumpy!!!

Right best go as Ben wants to go and wish his girlfriend a happy 'day, she's been to Hamley's today so will be completely over excited i'm sure!!! Catch up later Beks

BEKsmum · 01/02/2006 16:52

Sorry that should have been B'Day!

babyonboard · 01/02/2006 17:44

It's sort of facing the heath, it's on the little road near the church.
here

Midday is good for me, though I'm only 5 minutes away so anytime is fine really. looking forward to it! mmmmm...pizzas...

glad to be hearing about the jabs too..i was dreading them but it doesn't sound too bad. he didn't cry at the heel prick test so hopefully he'll be okay.

we haven't had any nappy leaks for days now! thanks for the tips, I think it was that i was using too much cream. I'm so glad I discovered the sainsburys nappies too, they're half the price of the 'big brands' and just as good, if not better.

The problem i've got at the moment is with him scratching his face..i cut and file his nails every couple of days as they grow really fast ,and we try to keep his mits on, but he hates them and chews them off..teehee..has anyone seen scratch mits that tie on? you'd imagine someone would make them but i can't find any.

tex111 · 01/02/2006 18:06

Noon at Zero Degrees sounds fantastic. I'll have the stroller so somewhere upstairs would be easier but I have carried it up and down stairs many times so whatever suits everyone is fine with me. Tobes won't need a highchair though I'm sure I'll be wishing I could strap him down somewhere.

BEKS, I missed your mention of PND. So glad you're getting some help. I've had a very simliar cringey conversation with my HV. When I first opened the door to her I thought she must be selling Girl Scout cookies. She's sooooo young, but thankfully she's a very good HV.

So looking forward to meeting you guys tomorrow. Life has been insane over the last few months which is why I haven't been on MN very much. We moved house and at the moment I'm sitting in what seems to be Pompeii. They've ripped out the bathroom and the dust is an inch thick and covering absolutely everything. Can't even be arsed to do a good clean until the jobs finished though. Complete nightmare. I think a pear and gorgonzola pizza should ease the pain.

Golden, very impressed with your weight loss. How are you doing it? Saw a photo of myself today that has shocked me into finally getting serious about losing the baby weight. Any helpful tips would be much appreciated.

babyonboard · 01/02/2006 18:20

Tex - the sofas at the very back will probably be best with all the prams etc..as i've mentioned before ours is an absolute monster..i've had someone yell at me on the bus 'what is that you're pushing , it looks like a bloody car' teehee..
it was a bit of a misguided purchase really..living in london and in a flat on the first and second floor, ah well..

babyonboard · 01/02/2006 18:21

i've just called to reserve two big sofas at 12..under the name 'ami'

babyonboard · 01/02/2006 18:26

the renovations sound like a nightmare..we want to put hard wood floors in our bedroom and what will become the nursery, but remembering the chaos when dp and his dad did the living room is really putting me off.

i'll have to show some restraint tomorrow as i'll be walking past my favourite kids clothes shop, that has the best little furry waistcoat and hat that me and dp have been drooling at for weeks...its £40 though..no way i could justify it..
i might get a really good look at it and then bring out the sewing machine - worth a try!

beks - hope you can keep the pnd at bay..we've all been pretty lucky, i expected more of us to end up with it.

Londoner · 01/02/2006 18:35

BEKs - glad the jabs were okay.
BoB you can get babygros with optional integral mitts, they fold on and off...
like on this gown
....although I couldn't find any clothes with them on my brief search for you.... but this might be good for night-time?

Great, see you all at the sofas at noon then .

goldenoldie · 01/02/2006 19:20

Tex - I'm using slimming world and a personal trainer. There is a slimming thread if you are interested.

JenJam - are you back yet?

novadandypowder · 01/02/2006 19:27

BoB - I'd try to discourage you from covering his hands as exploring them is an important part of his self discovery. The odd scratch doesn't do them any harm, they often look worse then they really are. I've got a little pair of nail scissors that you can cut right down to the skin with, and that seems to stop most of them.

Looks like we're going to have to miss swimming tomorrow as Natalies cold isn't any better

babyonboard · 01/02/2006 19:58

aaw nova it's so sad when they have colds isn't it..poor little mite!

I know oskar needs to be able to explore his hands, stuff them in his mouth etc, but it would really help if he had mits on at night, as he tends to rub his eyes in his sleep and thats when all the scratches appear.

i'm actually scared to cut too far down as the first time i cut his nails i cut into the skin on one and it was all bloody. maybe i should be a bit more brave now i've had lots of practice.
