New thread just for you star!

Well, hopefully not just for you, or it could get a bit boring talking to yourself Grin.

We are back on the 3rd this year, so it's just 2 weeks plus one day, as is dh but he's at work today and tomorrow, poor thing. I am so glad to not be at work this week. Far too close to Christmas - would be impossible to get anything done with my class. We did have a festive and fun Friday, though Grin

Q is having a (forced) quiet time right now. Made cookies and played this morning. It is soooo lovely being able to do what I want and not have to go to work for a bit. And I get loads of cuddles from my baby Smile dh's last day today. I need to finish shopping for dh's stocking but will do that when he can stay with Q.

You're tumbling? WinkGrin

We were complimented this morning on how well the DS's behaved in Peacocks. To be fair there was a small boy behaving atrociously to compare them too! Also i suspect she didn't hear me hissing viciously under my breath that no one would get a chocolate if they misbehaved Xmas Blush.
I have put this parenting triumph behind me this afternoon - as a good friend brought round a bottle of sparkly pink stuff - she was coming for coffee! and we drank it! slightly tipsy getting the kids tea now.... oops!
i have not drunk in the day prbably for 10 years! and never without DH...
have eaten all the christmas crisps as well. tee hee.

HavePatience · 20/12/2011 18:44

Ummmm do carol singers sing for money here? Never in the 7 years we have loved abroad have I experienced this.
When I was growing up, our church sang christmas carols for happiness and fun and to bring music to people... Never for money or chocolate..:
This girl, around age 10-13 just came to our door and sang "we wish you a merry Christmas". I said "thank you" and was about to close the door and she says "what's that?! It's carol singin!" and held her hand out. I said "sorry? Thank you so much for the music"
She repeated first line...
I gave her a chocolate ball and she said thank you and left ?!??? ConfusedHmmConfused

pepperrabbit · 20/12/2011 19:18

Sounds a bit cheeky to me star Hmm
There is a tradition of going round in a proper group singing carols and I suppose you might collect for charity, but one opportunistic kid on their own, singing one line. . . Xmas Biscuit!
We have a Santa that travels round our town in the evening of the week before Christmas, and "elves" from the local Lions Club knock on the doors for a donation. The kids love it.
I saw Ekka today in town! We had 3 kids each and we're looking equally stressed relaxed and unprepared ready for Christmas. i did my most unfortunate trick of managing to make small babies cry by just smiling at them, which probably didn't help her day - sorry Ekka if you're online tonight! Blush her DS2 was very scrummy though Xmas Smile

HavePatience · 20/12/2011 19:23

*lived

HavePatience · 20/12/2011 19:34

That's what I thought! Thanks.
I won't be answering the door now
Why did she freak me out so much? She was really forceful and just a little girl...

So cool that you and Ekka saw each other today! You've met before, right?

Hi all, welcome to Gossip Witch Smile We're having a lovely Christmassy week here. I had friends over yesterday with their dc for a little Christmas party and today J and I went to see Father Christmas. The whole visit took nearly an hour and it was totally magical. The children got to make reindeer food, write and post a letter to FC and then to get their present they had to clap two times and it magically fell down Santa's chimney. J liked it but I loved it and kept getting all misty eyed Grin
We have had a few threenager moments too though and on the way to see FC there was lots of shrieking from me Sad Do any of you ever wake up and just know your dc is going to have a trying day?
HP well done for not parting with cash. No Carol singers here but I suspect that a few trick or treaters would prefer £1 to a chuppa chups lolly Grin
Myjob glad u are having a good week too.
Pepper yay to daytime drinking Grin

Myjob I was laughing at the thinking up of a more positive word for it. No correction at all Grin

I meant thinking of a positive word for the situation Smile sorry, I've come across wrong. I was Grin because leave it to myjob to find a way to put it nicely, what that girl did Smile it was a good thing - about your ever positive nature and ability to find reason and good in everything. X

Yes. I wondered if she realised we were from the US and Assumed that since we trick or treat at Halloween, we do this at every holiday Grin haven't seen her since. But she was holding a bag with a canister of Pringles in it. So weird!

All ready for Christmas! Can't wait Smile
Going to local small panto tomorrow, very excited about that. Q spent a total of 5 hours at a softplay today with dh and I taking turns staying with him or shopping. He was wiped at the end of it all.

Dh and I tend to go in an engage in whatever pretend game Q chooses, so we always get about 15-30 kids playing with us as well - exhausting all around as I feel like I'm at work haha! Grin We always end up settling disputes and helping kids that have been hurt...etc - no clue where their parents are!!

HavePatience · 22/12/2011 21:17

Arghhh

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/12/2011 23:08

Their parents may have multiple children star, and be with one of the others or taking it easy for once with a cuppa.

Purpleprickles · 23/12/2011 08:06

HP the invisibility of parents at soft play always winds me up as the teacher in me means I feel the need to sort out disputes and quell over the top rowdy behaviour. However I can totally see the appeal of slipping off for a quiet cuppa. I'm sure once J is tall enough to not need a bunk up to the top slide in our local soft play I'll become invisible too Grin

Coconutfeet · 23/12/2011 08:19

Hello ladies, Just popped back to say hello and Merry Christmas. It's good to see that you're all still going strong. Sorry I've not been around for ages. I've only got limited MN time these days and have been quite involved in the miscarriage threads. Anyway, the upshot of all the miscarriage lurking and posting is that I've had some private treatment for recurrent miscarriage and am expecting another baby in May. Had the 20 week scan last week and it's another boy!

I hope you're all doing well. How are you enjoying the new house HP? Our place is finally on the market so hopefully we'll be getting a bigger place soon too. We're very excited about Christmas here. It feels so much more fun with children around, doesn't it. Have a great time everyone. I'll make an effort to pop back more regularly in the new year!

xx

HavePatience · 23/12/2011 08:59

Oh cf!! Massive congrats!!! SmileSmileSmileSmile
I hope you sell quickly! Yes, enjoying new house and DIY but no central heating so current heat wave has been a blessing.
