Wow huge post beaditAli, I think newmum001's post come up twice from her phone but once when she's on her computer. Dh is feeling more positive as he has managed to find other things that are on the audit but not there that he didn't throw out so should be ok. Could do without the stress! Boys are better, ds1 was almost back to normal by 7 tonight so fingers crossed for undisrupted sleep. Sounds like some of your customers want two items Wink, I would say once the royal mail stauatory period is up they can claim the money back from them and they can pay you for a second one but it will go to the bottom of your list. Send back the pushchair and/or ask for a refund that's no on!! No idea on nose bleed kids never had one and I only had one once when I was pregnant with Luke and blueberry picking so not much help!

Thought for the day funny how people an be total arse holes and then when they want something as sweet as pie. Shame I can't be an arse hole back, not in my nature!!!

Laptops broken so all my posts are from my phone atm which does usually post twice but sometimes it likes to surprise me by only posting once! Very random!

Ahhhhhh........ double posting is back! Yeay! I really do smile every time there are two. I'm so sad!!
cinnamon I'm certain that customer fibbed his way into getting 2 for the price of one. Just the language he used in his emails and the remarks about thieves at this time of year rang alarm bells. Just pleased it doesn't happen a lot.

Can I ask more questions now??? I know I rant when I come on here Xmas Sad
*Jack will just not touch cow's milk..... would you carry on being happy to give follow on as long as he seems happy to have it.

  • Nurseries/cminders: do any of you think dcs that don't go before they're say 2ish will be any the worse because of it??

*Lastly: if you have a night away from home dcs included...... are they hard to settle for a day or two once back home??

Debs75 · 08/12/2011 08:58

Beadit my dd1 didn't got to nursery until she was just past 3 and she fitted in realy well and is now coming out of school with A and A* G.C.S.E's DD2 has been going since she was 2 and loves it but is sometimes overwhelmed by it all. Lucy will be going hopefully after Christmas for 1 session a week so I can get some more study done. She will go at 2 on the 2 year pilot for 10 hours a week.
I think some kids do well at nursery and some don't, I don't think age is so much of a factor

Can't say I have noticed much of a difference when we get back home. DD2 did struggle when we went away last Easter. She kept telling us she was tired and wanted to go home. She didn't understand that we were on holiday and was up really late. She was fine the next night and shattered when we got home so fine that night

newmum001 · 08/12/2011 09:58

Beadit, regarding the milk the hv said to me that they say move them onto cows milk as it's more of a drink and less of a meal. That toddler milks apparently have more calories etc but if I were u I wouldn't worry about it. If that's the only milk he'll have then I'd keep letting him have it.

Good point Debs re: age not being a factor.... hadn't really thought that before.
I just feel so guilty that I don't get out to groups or play centers much with Jack and that he can easily go a week and barely see another little persons face.
We car share and I'm always trying to steal bits of time to do bits of work etc...... such a bad Mummy....... I think we'll look into nursery after Christmas though my Mum might feel a little glum about it.... bless her. She adores having him Xmas Grin
Figure the nose bleeding must just be him picking up there [yuk]

newmum he won't have the toddler milk and no wonder really...... have you smelt/tasted it? It's like melted candy floss!!! [yuk] Will keep going with the old stuff but keep trying cow's milk I think.

Hope everyone's good today! Xmas Grin

Debs75 · 08/12/2011 12:32

Beadit if you want you could try mixing it and gradually upping the cows milk till it is all cows milk.

Or just give up the milk. We don't need milk in our diets there are plenty of other ways to get calcium. DD2 and DS only have milk in cereals and Lucy hasn't drank anything but my milk and water. I agree formula is foul tasting and he may just see all white drinks as yuck.

Lucy is feeling off today. She has a horrid wet cough and it is keeping her awake, we were up till gone 1am last night. All she has done today is whinge and I am shattered

saoirse86 · 08/12/2011 13:13

beadit orlaith's not in nursery either. She gets looked after by my mum or pil's when I'm at work or studying. I am planning to put her in nursery for maybe 2 afternoons a week or something but just haven't got round to sorting it yet. But I'm lucky that I still meet up with mums from our postnatal group so she sees other babies at least once a week, oh and she sees imara when they're back from Liverpool!
I still give orlaith stage 1 formula as well as cow's milk. I use the formula when we're out as it's easier to not have to keep fresh milk cold. I just mix it up when I need it. And the reason I'm still using stage 1 is because I was told to ages ago by the hv's but I don't really know if I should swap to follow on milk now if that has fewer calories. I'll have a look when I go to the supermarket. But if that's all Jack will have then I wouldn't worry too much personally. He's not having many milk feeds now anyway is he?
We had a ziko too and it was crap considering how much they cost new. The brake was a nightmare, constantly playing up. I ended up selling it, but got more than I paid for it! Xmas Grin Could you buy a city mini with the money you get for your urbo? They're only £150 at Halfords.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/12/2011 13:38

I think a lot comes down to personality beaditAli, ds1 went to a childminder from 6-14 months until I started childminding and then was with me until he got his free sessions at just over 3. He's very outgoing and confident and has never cried leaving me. Luke has only been with me and is a bit more clingy at times but is also very happy to go off with other people. I think he interacts a lot more with children than ds1 did but then there are kids around him all the time and have been since he was 3 weeks old. I do go out to groups to see other children as well but there is a reason that children don't get free sessions until the term after they're free as there is a lot of research to show children don't play together until that age and so don't benefit from it. They are often playing the same thing but along side each other, although all children are different. My mum was home with me and my brother and I was very confident and outgoing and my brother clung onto my mum every day crying and never wanted to go anywhere! She didn't do anything differently but he was very different to me and I think it's just personality.

With the milk I think it depends on lots of things, is it stopping him eating other food? Does he want the milk but just won't have the others or is he still having it because it's time for a feed iyswim? Is he having other dairy products? Luke is having 2 bf a day and I am not giving him milk any other time, if I'm not here at bedtime dh gives him a bottle of cows milk which he happilt drinks. He does have porridge made with milk, cheese and yogurt so I don't worry too much, he also eats pretty well so I don't think he's deficient in anyway. How do you feel about it? I personally don't think follow on milk will do him any harm and if you're both happy then leave it as it is for now. Every child is different and I think generally we worry too much!

We have only been away twice since Luke was born, we had a week in a caravan when he was 8 months and one night last month and he was fine both times when we got home.

saoirse86 · 08/12/2011 13:52

My sister and I were in full time childcare of varying types from 6 weeks and we were always very shy and clingy to our mum, although didn't cry when we left her. So being socialised a lot doesn't necessarily mean you become sociable iyswim. And considering Orlaith doesn't spend that much time with other children, she's very confident, almost to the point I find it embarrassing sometimes when she goes and plays with anyone and everyone without even a glance back in my direction! Xmas Shock

And we have been away and it's been a nightmare, but she's often a nightmare at home too so I don't think that's anything to go by. Xmas Wink

DecTheHallsWithbeaditAli · 08/12/2011 14:27

Thanks guys....... He definitely still wants his milk late morning and at bedtime and I think his appetite is ok though he's definitely still a grazer and I find it hard to keep track some days. He slept from 8pm to 9.30am last night so he's not waking out of hunger or anything else really so I will stop thinking about it I think.
Just so many friends asking why he's not on cow's milk yet Xmas Confused

Just back from a play center and he was so indifferent..... really all he wanted was to play with was the flippy lid on the bin Xmas Blush Xmas Grin
He's not clingy for me especially although when he wakes after his nap during the day he is very needy for sleepy cuddles...... takes him a while to come round.

My sister and I were at home with Mum until we were abut 3.5 I think and I was a nightmare and she was so confident and independent! I don't think I've ever met two more different twins! Xmas Grin

Saoirse....... my Dad is going to look at the buggy tomorrow..... wish I'd asked your advice first! I LONGGGGGGG for a Baby Jogger but DH still thinks they're too big and pricey. He's SO VERY, VERY WRONG!!!!! Xmas Grin

lumpylumps · 08/12/2011 15:28

I have a friend who refuses to give her boys anything but formula until they're 2 because of the chemicals in cows milk Xmas Hmm It won't do any harm thats what its designed for!

As for nurserys etc, I think as long as you do things with him and he mixes with other children his age it doesn't matter. Toby went to a childminder. It was my friend and his best friends mum! We used to go round a lot anyway so he was just going to her house to play!! she didn't do anything different than I did with him and he's come on just like those who went to nursery or a more structured childminder.

I have to say I agree with your dh beady the jogger is lovely but far too big and expensive when you consider that jack will be walking more & more and needing it less!

saoirse86 · 08/12/2011 16:42

Noooo lumpy you are of course wrong about the pushchair! Xmas Shock Xmas Wink
I have actually been thinking about getting a city mini myself. They seem expensive for a stroller type thing, but they're much better than others that are cheaper. You could get a second hand one. And they're not that expensive if you think about it because the difference between what you pay for it and what you can sell it for later isn't as much as it would be for a more basic one. Or if you're going to be having another soon then it'll be handy for a while longer. But I think I'd have a job convincing DP as I'd really want the 4 wheel version which is about £200!!
beadit it's funny that we have parallels in our pushchair collections! I had an M&P 03 series but the old fixed wheel version which I ended up selling, I've had a ziko, wanted an urbo but decided against after reading bad reviews about the wheels. But I've had several others too. Xmas Blush

saoirse86 · 08/12/2011 16:43

Has your DH seen one in RL? They're not big! Xmas Confused

newmum001 · 08/12/2011 17:51

Wanders off to see what a city mini looks like, if I come back wanting one I will hold both of you responsible and expect you both to put too and buy me one :p

Debs75 · 08/12/2011 18:23

I would love a city mini. I even lookied into the double version when I found out about Lucy. We are stil using the M&P MPX facing backwards but the wheels are getting ona bit now. I don't really want to buy a new pram but the city mini is a lot better then a normal stroller, just a bit expensive

DecTheHallsWithbeaditAli · 08/12/2011 19:14

And you can use it again with a car seat on the chassis for the next DC!! So Lucy.......... HE"S STILL WRONG!! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin
saoirse Are you sure you don't actually live here?! We have an older M&P 03 that we're hanging onto for our muddy walks and it's brilliant in the snow! My Urbo has been ace but the wheels are really worn but they're now made differently so I'd still recommend that for newborns...... it's just not really that great for 12 months plus. Jack looks enormous in his! Xmas Grin
Debs yeah he's seen one. I think he's just coming up with random reasons to stop us spending money though he does want an umbrella fold and the City Mini doesn't do that.
newmum YOU WANT ONE NOW DON'T YOU!!!??? hehehehehehehehehe

DecTheHallsWithbeaditAli · 08/12/2011 19:17

Oops... meant Saoirse not Debs Xmas Smile

I've had a look and I'm not all that keen, I have however recently fallen back in love with my chicco liteway now I've figured out a way of making the footmuff fit properly. I spent all last winter dragging at the footmuff to keep it on the pram (it isn't designed very well at all) but I had a genious moment the other day and now it fits perfectly and I love it again! If I had the room/money I'd have at least 5 different prams. Dp doesn't get my obsession and I'm still annoyed with him for not letting me get a quinny buzz a while ago!

Beadit, if ur dh doesn't want to shell out a lot of money have you looked at the petite star zia? My mums got one for grace cause she's got a tiny boot on her car and it folds up really tiny! Not umberella fold it kind of folds in half and then in half again but it's so easy to do! Also the seat on it is massive, grace is really tall and she's got loads of room in it!
