Took me 2 days to express almost an oz and I go and knock the bottle over Sad. Saved around half of it. Bloody unbelievable!! Angry

MamaMaiasaura · 18/12/2011 22:27

Sad groovy x

GroovyRach · 18/12/2011 22:41

One of those moments you think could happen in your head then it happens!! Had to laugh or I would've cried! Oh well, mr buble on tv is making it better! Lol Grin

Penelope1980 · 19/12/2011 05:23

Is anyone else going away for christmas? We are going to the ILs this weekend, am dreading the long car trip (tw0 4 hr days) with baby, but still should be OK although am hoping I still get a lot of alone time with A!

LittlePebble · 19/12/2011 06:10

Oh Groovy Sad
penelope we're having three different Christmases and have to travel for one of them but only a two hr drive thank goodness!
Penguin fingers crossed DS is better
BB3 hope you're feeling better and got lots of wrapping done
We've got lots of heaters around house so not too bad overnight, but Elijah was really unsettled ended up having to kick dp into spare room to get some sleep and only way to get E to sleep was to cosleep. He seemed to have really painful tummy but not sure if it could have just been wind it caused so much crying Confused?

BB3 · 19/12/2011 07:32

cheeky glad everything is going so well x I'm looking forward to Christmas too - if I ever get any bloody presents wrapped Wink we ended up having guests last night so my wrapping did not get done!

Oh no groovy how frustrating!! Xx

I'm much better managed two meals yesterday and woke up feeling slightly more normal today so fingers crossed. I'm so very fed up of having a house full of lurgy (dh hasn't had it and I'm praying he doesn't as that will literally be a nightmare while he dies on the sofa! Grin).

Engelsmeisje · 19/12/2011 07:56

Morning ladies!

I am so excited about Christmas! Shopping done. Presents wrapped. Heading back to the UK on Wednesday so we have a 4 hour drive to Calais, hopefully won't have to wait too long for our boat. The an hour and a half on the boat and 30 drive minutes to our cottage. Going to take a few bottles of EBM with us as M feeds so much quicker and with less fuss (and I don't want to have to get my boobs out in a Belgian service station!).

It's going to be so hectic - everyone is getting in touch and saying how they'd love to meet up but we can't possibly see everyone and stay sane!

now just have to pack Hmm my least favourite job.

Just waiting for the physio for what is probably M's last appointment.

Get well soon to everyone (and everybaby!) with the lurgy.

CheshireDing · 19/12/2011 11:54

It?s my understanding Tally that the centiles are basically based on 100 children researched, that?s what HV told me anyway! Hence Penguins explanation of the percentages. Although I am confused then Penguin if the red book has the correct charts in from WHO, how come when I mark P on the WHO chart she is at different centiles?

This is a link to the girls chart BB3
www.who.int/childgrowth/standards/weight_for_age/en/index.html

Pebble hope you are a bit warmer now.

Very Envy of your sleep Cheeky. P has a really bad cold, in both nostrils so has been waking every hour because she can?t breathe properly. 

Groovy I hope you had a glass of wine to cheer yourself up over the spilt milk.

Engels we used to find that when we lived abroad, as soon as you come back to the UK people think you can meet up with them and much as you would love to you cannot meet up with EVERYONE EVERYTIME. Although you could get them to come to you, all in one day and just get everyone seen in one big session :)

TallyBear · 19/12/2011 11:57

engles, so jealous of your organisation. so much not done here still. last day of posting today and still need to buy photo frame to send to great grandparents. got photos sorted at least. only one present bought for dh so far. another on order but out of stock... grhhh! cards posted at least...some people will get a little surprise in their cards this year!! never did get round too doing birth announcement cards so unless people are on facebook they may not know!

groovy i would have cried...but i think you're doing fantasticly bringing your milk back.

GroovyRach · 19/12/2011 13:57

Sophia has a very faint rash on her tummy. Looks like one a doc would class as just viral but I dont know if I should try see doc or not? I put some snuffle baby rub on her chest the other day that brought her out in a rash on the area I put it but this is all over, right down to nappy area. I'll post a pic on fb n you guys can tell me what you think if you don't mind!! Smile

GroovyRach · 19/12/2011 14:09

Got app with doc at 5.45 tonight. Prob nothing but just to be sure Smile

PenguinArmy · 19/12/2011 15:17

The UK ones are recent but I think based on UK studies as well as WHO. It was based on a lot more than 100 babies. From what I've read they use WHO from 2 weeks to 4 years and UK date for pre-term, 0 weeks and 4 years plus. I don't know why when you plot if should be different as looking at the 50th centile in months 0-6 for girls, I see no difference. I haven't compared centiles as they have different numbers plotted. What weights are you comparing chesire

engel I did that with DD, just one word of warning I got masitis which I think was a combo of just one two many bottle feeds and wearing the seat belt so if you can limit to one bottle of EBM and give your breasts a good massage when you feed DC next that should help.

groovy good luck, DS comes out pimply sometimes which can look like a rash but isn't.

DS is much improved and feeding normally (well more so but assume it's a pseudo growth spurt). His not being sick when he coughs anymore, but I think the snot is starting to happen, lovely Xmas HmmXmas Grin

Just had another physio for pelvic floors, at least a few months before I'll be running again but making progress, see her again in a month.

Glad DS is getting better penguin.

groovy hope the docs goes ok, its always best to check. And excellent work on getting your milk supply up!

Hope you have some decent heat now pebble.

DD has 8 week jabs tomorrow (at 9 weeks) and I'm not looking forward to it at all!

Getting there with being ready for Christmas, just the wrapping to do now.

GroovyRach · 19/12/2011 17:00

Thanks everyone! God I worked in a nursery for 5 years and been a nanny for past 3 so I've seen every rash under the sun, but it's different when it's ur own eh? Lol Smile

cheekydino · 19/12/2011 18:34

Knew I'd jinx things by mentioning good sleep. It was 4 am this morning and a big dirty nappy. And screaming during the day is really getting to me, arghh! She just cannot sleep in the day unless completely upright or moving as reflux (I think) is causing her pain. Off to docs on weds to see if there is anything else I can do.

Moan over! Hope the cold is getting better cheshire, it is miserable when they are ill.

Groovy - no wonder you are coping so well when you've worked in childcare - am full of admiration for anyone who has the patience to do that. Give me a room of teenagers any day! Grin

Off to do bath and bed. Wish it didn't take 2 hours!

MamaMaiasaura · 19/12/2011 20:22

cheekydino poor you with the daytime crying. J has real problems sleeping in day but I think that's down to her brothers waking her. She only really settles on me. Today I ended up getting them all in car and to supermarket just to get her to sleep. Ended up 3.5 hr nap! First time she's napped that long for ages.
mrsp81 J got her immunisation tomorrow as well, in afternoon. Dreading it Sad really hope she doesn't have reaction. Don't know wether to give her calpol before, what did everyone else do?
groovy hope drs went ok. What did they say?

Still feels surreal here wen I look at j and realise she is my daughter Smile been talking about me packing stuff she's grown out of rather than selling it or giving it away just in case. Tbh I think she's our last and that dh just being kind. Our anniversary this week, 8 years we've been together. I've been a right bitch lately, really need to stop snapping at him and ds's Dont know if hormones or tiredness.

J doing well, feeding well tho I don't really register it iykwim. I've got to really think about how many times she nurses as I don't keep count. she, sleeps generally from 11 till 5/6 and in her cot next to bed now. I find it easier as ds2 still in bed with me. It's his birthday next week.

All ready for Xmas and added icing to cake today. First one I ever made Grin want to make birthday cake for da but need a good sponge or chocolate cake recipe

PenguinArmy · 19/12/2011 21:00

awen there is some evidence that suggests giving calpol before hand can slightly reduce the effectiveness of the immunisation. If you see the GP you can get a prescription for some calpol in case of fever. Remember to ask for a syringe Blush I forgot, the spoon method was err. interesting and wasteful.

I am writing the packing list for a xmas travels, I think the car may be full.

DS did a 2 hour nap in his basket today Shock, like awen his sibling is normally responsible for waking him up. I naively thought being born into a noisier house would mean he'd naturally learn to sleep through it. I was worried his crying would wake her up, but her sleep has been quite easy (took until him being born to get there, I'm wondering if she can only sleep if he's crying Xmas Grin).

Just put together our xmas present to grandparents. Those pictures in those hinged frame things.

Thanks for the advice Penguin!

GroovyRach · 19/12/2011 21:19

thanks everyone for your messages. S got on fine at the doctors. typically i changed her nappy just before we went and the rash had just about faded but i went anyway. had a feeling it was just a viral rash (ive seen enough of them in my time!) but i guess you can never be too careful. glad to report all is fine! he did say she has a bit of a red throat. i commented on how she had been tugging at her ears more recently. unsure if she had just became aware of them or if they were hurting. he had a look and said they looked fine and to be honest, they try not to give anti biotics for ear infections these days. its usually just calpol Xmas Hmm

she def is under the weather though, had a very tearful day and just wanted cuddles which is lovely but got to the point i had to put her down to get to the toilet and have a cup of tea!! she has also drank so much! was on about 5oz every 2 1/2 hours, 3 at a push but has been taking 5oz every 2 hours, sometimes even 1 1/2! was worried i was giving her to much and was trying to distract her but she wasnt entertaining the idea and wanted food! when can you start to give a sip of water? im thinking its closer to 6 months..?

cheekydino have you been using gaviscon for the reflux? S had it for a few weeks around 6/7wks old and it def helped her! i had terrible heartburn when preg so could only sympathise with how uncomfy it must be for them Xmas Sad

thats her now also into 0-3 month vests and sleepsuits!! clothes still a little big tho lol. was sad packing all her things away that are too small. i have decided to give away the unisex stuff to a friend who is having a boy next year but i want to hang on to everything else. not ready to part with any of it!! came across one of her 'tiny baby' vests that i had to buy after we got home from hospital as everything was huge on her! i'll never forget that, putting her into a 'first size' vest and sleepsuit in the hospital after she was born and it was huge! goodness, where has the last 11 weeks went? i cant even remember her being that small now!! gonna try pop down to have her wieghed on wednesday. curious as to what she will be after the amount she has consumed today!!

anyway, been a long post! im off to tidy up, shower, cup of tea packet of biscuts and try get an earlyish night. hairdresser coming at 9.30am tomorrow so we both need to be up and looking half decent! Xmas Grin

happy aniversary awen Thanks

CheshireDing · 20/12/2011 03:35

:( :( Feel terrible, P has not slept decently for at least 3 nights now and to be waking every hour has made me feel like crying tonight. She still cant breathe through her nose and is only able to sleep on my chest when she is pretty much upright - which of course means i cant sleep.
DH has gone in the other room and said he will dog walk in the morning but i will still have to get up and out as have some things to collect in town, also i feel so bad for DH not getting sleep and having to work.
I cant imagine her ever going back to decent sleep at the moment and before she was born i convinced myself i would have a Gina Ford trained baby, sob :(

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 20/12/2011 04:08

Sorry I haven't posted for ages. Been running round like a headless chicken.

Oh Cheshire I saw your post and wanted to reply. Nights are the worst and I didn't want you going unanswered. Don't feel guilty for a start. Your DH signed up to sleepless nights for a start and secondly, your baby is ill. This. Is. Not. Your. Fault!
Having gone through similar recently I just kept thinking this too will pass. And it does.
Just try and get her comfortable and maybe try and get some sleep during the day. Hopefully her breathing might be a bit better during the day. I would also think about seeing the doctor (if you haven't already) as you don't want bronchiolitis like my DS2.
Sending you big hugs ((( )))

GroovyRach · 20/12/2011 08:54

cheshire have you tried the saline solution you squirt up their nose? It helped unblock S nose just enough that she could get a breath. I used it when she had the cold at 3 wks old. Would squirt it everyone she had a hint of being snuffly. Iv also been rubbing some snuffle baby rub onto her sleep suit so she breathes it in while sleeping.

Hugs to you Smile xx

GroovyRach · 20/12/2011 08:54

Everytime, not everyone!

Fleecy · 20/12/2011 11:06

We got those saline syringes too - when we squirted the solution up her nose she would cry but was still clearer afterwards and I could then feed her back to sleep. Worth a try.

You can also get those snot sucker things but I never fancied it myself.

CheshireDing · 20/12/2011 12:34

Yeah we have the squirty nose stuff, i think it is helping a bit but very short term as she is so snotty :( I put her in the en suite with the shower on this morning whilst she sat in her chair for the steam. She seems happier sat upright and that is how iam trying to get her to feed a little.

DH said he would go to the pharmacy and get her some sort of chest rub stuff, good idea to put it on her sleep suit Groovy

The snot sucker thing makes me feel a bit sick at the thought of it Fleecy Grin so might pass on that one!

Poor thing is breathing out through her mouth and sounding like a pig.
