Come chat, moan, boast (by stealth of course), vent, rage, relax, worry and be reassured. Welcome to all the new babies. Stats thread here

Cheshire - sounds like the babies were in the mood to party last night. Thankfully J gave up at 1. S had me up at 6 tho.

Just nibbled a bit of the choc fudge.... Mmmmm om nom nom. Proud of myself for stepping away and scoffing a banana instead.

I am doing the ultimate saddo cliche of being home and got the god awful jeremy Kyle on while j snoozes on me as T at school and J at preschool.

mpops · 14/12/2011 10:21

Oh dear, I'm still pretending that fudge recipe doesn't exist...

Edward, hope today is a new improved day.

And Groovy, you are doing great. In awe of you!

D has been sleeping well at night but maybe 2 hours in total in the day. Exhausted! Both her and me. And her feeding is all over the place come 3pm, so by the time DH gets home I'm in a right state. Cue arguments and upset. Gah!

bilblio · 14/12/2011 11:00

MrsH Seth has his done last week and he's recovered from it very well. Feeding still isn't 100% but he's been ill since he had it done so I think that's the problem. Is she playing with her tongue now? Seth spent the first couple of days rolling it round in his mouth and looking confused. He sticks it out a lot now too which looked odd as I wasn't used to it.

We had a rotten night too, well a few actually. He's started feeding every 2-3 hours in the night. He was only waking once, I'm hoping it's also down to the illness. DH & I have bad coughs so we keep disturbing each other, and DD has a dodgy belly so she's been waking in the night too. I'm shattered.

Seth is 2 months old today. How did that happen? I thought we had our check up yesterday, but it's today. I'm going to delay the jabs until he's better though.

I'm going to spend this morning making starting the Christmas baking. It's not Christmas without caramel shortbread.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 14/12/2011 12:56

Ooh caramel shortbread sounds delicious!!

GroovyRach · 14/12/2011 13:36

I actually can't stop eating chocolate!! Getting sick of the taste of it now, but it's not stopping me!!!

PenguinArmy · 14/12/2011 13:59

The advantage of an active toddler is that I don't have time to eat much in the day. I'm still having an extra something in the evenings (tea and half a pack of bickies Xmas Blush) though Xmas Hmm but I'm back to normal weight (Although not at pre-pg weight as I was the lowest I had been for ages, about 2kg from that).

Found a few wrap dresses that are BF friendly.

DD is quite ill but DS seems unaffected so far. They're both due for jabs this afternoon but don't think I will get DDs done as she's borderline fever.

Penguin - I have an active toddler and still 2 stone to go!! Envy

I will be pretending I did not read all about fudge and caramel shortbread (after eating almost a whole pack of strawberry creams today - although in my defence there are only 10 in a pack!!)

Dh and I bicker a lot where we are both tired but he finishes for Christmas this Saturday so hoping it will be easier then x

Girls are going through really difficult stage, i'm very, very tired but hoping it will get better soon. They had their second set of jabs yesterday so were sleepy all day! Can't believe they are 12+1 weeks already! Seems crazy x

groovy sorry your exdp is being such a pain, if I were you I'd take the high road, make sure he has the opportunity to see his daughter and if he continues to be an idiot then you've done all you can, it's all his own doing xx

PenguinArmy · 14/12/2011 16:52

BB3 I'd blame the nanny if I were you Grin

DD didn't have jabs as her fever was quite high. Nurse confirmed that a fever above 38oC is the circumstance when they don't give them. DS was fine as soon as he latched on immediately afterwards.

mpops · 14/12/2011 18:49

BB3, can't believe your girls are 12 weeks already. Aww!

I'm totally addicted to chocolate too at the moment. Sort of went off it while I was pregnant but, erm, it's all come flooding back.

TallyBear · 14/12/2011 19:23

OK, i need advice...my fudge didn't set fully. what did i wrong? I put about 240g of choc in, do i need more? it still tasted yummy!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 14/12/2011 21:10

tally the only time mine has set properly I used pretty expensive dark choc min 70% cocoa solids, it was in fridge a few hours I then cut it into squares and put back into fridge as the underside had still been really soft and sticky.
HTH
Tbh though if u have a really sweet tooth I prefer it not set and eaten with a spoon lol

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 14/12/2011 21:13

My poor ds has D&V vomited rings round himself I then gave him 2 spoons calpol before realising it was actually ibuprofen which dosage is a quarter of what he had. Have been reassured by nurse at NHS24 that he'll be alright but feel like worst mum on the planet!!

BB3 · 14/12/2011 21:30

edward don't beat yourself up it was a mistake and ds is fine x you are a great mother and the fact that you are so worried shows how good you are x Chocolate helps (you and ds).

bilblio · 14/12/2011 22:29

edward it's easy to do. I have it drilled into me with my job about checking medicines but I've still made errors before, and that's without the extra sleepless nights & worry about DS that you have.
Hope he's better soon.

I have a monster baby! 8 week check up and Seth measured 62.5cm, which puts him on the 99th centile line! DH & I are both 5' 5" Confused He now weighs 13lb something. I think she said 4oz but I was still trying to get my head around the 13lb and she didn't write it down. He did have his jabs in the end, I decided to get them over with. The doctor said to keep a close eye on him though as he has a very crackly chest which may or may not turn into bronchiolitis.

While we were at the GP's I asked if DD's ears could be checked, they're always waxy, her speech isn't great and she's been complaining of ear ache lately. I'm also noticing more that she's not hearing me.... she's probably just in her own little world.
Anyway he did a basic test, rubbed his fingers by one ear while he whispered a number in the opposite ear. I could hear him when he was near me but DD showed no signs of hearing him. So we're off to see an audiologist.
I really really hope it's just wax.

Penelope1980 · 15/12/2011 05:39

I think I am going to have to jump on the fudge making bus as well. Not that I need to eat more crap, have been guzzling marshmallow choc santas atm. Mmmm.

bilblio hope it is just wax!

I am tired atm, Amotai has started waking up an extra time a night for reasons I don't understand. I was getting a bit complacent so am finding the tiredness a nasty shock!

BB3 · 15/12/2011 06:43

Bilblio - fingers crossed, ds gets lots of wax, sore ears etc and doesn't really speak, his hearing is fine but I'm convinced there is a link somewhere between it, we are starting speech therapy after Xmas so hopefully that will help or find out the reason begin it x

Go Seth, good lad! That's a great weight! Xx

BB3 · 15/12/2011 06:48

I'm hopping on the tired bus Penelope, ds decided to wake up at 2.30. I finally gave in and got up with him at 4.15 so am downstairs with all three kids while dh sleeps on the sofa next to me (he came down to 'help' AngryAngryAngry!!!) I am gutted too as girls were having their best night yet - Ayse-Rose didn't wake until half one (normally 11-12 ish) and Edith-May woke up about 3 (she's gone back down and is still asleep). Ayse has just fed again and is drifting back off - I could have had so much sleep!!!!

Is it wrong I want to throw ds' toys at dh's snoring head? WinkGrin

Engelsmeisje · 15/12/2011 07:24

I'm tired too (and maybe just a little bit grumpy).

Up with M at 5, which should have meant that he'd sleep til 8 or so. But then DH (who had just woken me up to give me a kiss goodbye when he left for work at 7) popped in to see M before he left who was apparently awake (but not crying). As soon as DH stepped out, M then starts bawling so I had to get up.

Grrrrrrrr. DH just rang and helpfully suggested that I go for a nap this afternoon. I don't want t nap this afternoon, I wanted a bloody lay in!!!

Maybe I am being just a tad unreasonable. Think I should jump on the fudge bus...

CheshireDing · 15/12/2011 08:12

I am NOT going to jump on the fudge bus because I fear it could be my undoing. However I am still in bed (8.03am), which is super naughty. Usually we are showered and either up and downstairs or out with the dog - but it's not my dog walking day turn today so he's already been. I am contemplating festering in the dark, playing on laptap, drinking builders tea (DH left me a mint tea for P's burping) and eating some of the chocolate orange segments I know are in the kitchen.

P seems to manage to sleep until 2.30am but then at the moment she is waking every hour after that for a snack. I cannot get her to stay awake longer to feed more, to sleep longer, boo hoo :(

I tried on my size 10 jeans yesterday, probably for the first time since about March, my tum is grossly saggy but the jeans fitted :) :) I really have to not put the weight back on because each time I have lost it in the past - for our wedding etc, then within the year I am back up to tight clothes, as Edie said in Ab Fab "I just want a day where I am not marked by my clothes" Grin

Bilblio 62.5cm sounds really long if I think of one of those plastic rulers, he is a tall chap!! P weighed 10.9lb yesterday at 10 weeks and seems to have slowed down her weight gain from when she was a tidler. The HV said she looked long but GP said they don't measure their length here any more, I might measure her for interest later.

CheshireDing · 15/12/2011 08:47

I have just checked Cups link on baby Beatrice and she was admitted to HDU on Tuesday, it sounds like she improved a bit yesterday but she is still there :(

GroovyRach · 15/12/2011 10:21

Well done cheshire getting into ur jeans!! I am about a stone lighter than pre preg but I still have a way to go! Goal is to loose another 2 st before April. So could people please stop posting yummy recipes for fudge!! Grin

I'll jump on the tired bus tho. S is loaded with the cold and was so unsettled all night. I had her propped up but wasn't helping much.

It's funny, she is starting to find her feet now. When she is laying on her back, she is pulling her legs up. When is it they can get their feet in their mouths..?!

TallyBear · 15/12/2011 12:54

fingers crossed for all those on the tired bus that things improve for you and you get some sleep and for those on the fudge bus that you don'y eat too much of it! I need to try another batch and try to get it to set. gonna use more choc this time. groovy such restraint - well done - keep it up.

engles and bb3, maybe time for a daddy lesson!! dh is doing tuesday; he has day off as i am going to work xmas lunch, then xmas shopping and meeting a friend for drinks afterwards. can't wait. he's not been on alone daddy duty for more than about 3 hours before now!

we were all set to go out this morning when seb decided he needed a new nappy, by the time i'd finished it was pouring with rain - well done seb, we'd have got caught in that! he's now fast asleep on me Xmas Grin

the postie keeps delivering missed parcel cards when i'm at the post office collecting the last one! Xmas Angry still not finished xmas shopping. poor dh won't have anything to open at this stage! have got a daddy card from seb though!

TallyBear · 15/12/2011 12:56

thinking of wrapping up seb and giving to dh on xmas am! Xmas Grin

GroovyRach · 15/12/2011 13:04

That made me lol tallybear!! I'll post a pic in fb group of what I done to S the other day. Maybe it's something like that you have in mind..?

TallyBear · 15/12/2011 13:49

lol, yes something like that! i was just wondering if i can find a stocking big enough for him to fit into!! not sure he'll stay quiet under the tree though! Xmas Grin
