morning ladies, am bf so don't expect capitals etc!

groovy poor s, it doesn't take much to feel guilty does it, especially as we are newbies Grin, last saturday i had a similar thing where i ended up taking p to this bloody garden centre to meet some friends of my mums, ended with p crying in the car all the way home and me not knowing whether i should have pulled over somewhere or ploughed on, you can spend the weekend cuddling though hopefully Grin

i too want to punch my saggy tum, very jealous of those of you where it is nt saggy
penguin and bilblio how are they this morning?

PenguinArmy · 17/12/2011 12:44

we have an appointment at 5:20, seems like ages to wait

bilblio · 17/12/2011 13:31

penguin hope he's okay. Seth is fine-ish. Still crackly chested but he's been like this for a week now, no better, but no worse. DH still has a runny belly, looks dreadful but he slept well (snored lots.) Hoping he doesn't pass it on to me.

cheshire it's horrible when they're crying and you're driving.

I've decided I'm going to brave the shops to get out of the germy house, and to let DD pick up a present for DH.

Grr! we finally put our tree up yesterday. Everyone thinks I'm cruel as DD has been asking to put it up for weeks, but I'm already cheesed off with DD taking the decorations off and playing with them. We may as well scatter the decorations randomly round the house! Some of the decorations belonged to my nan-nan. I don't want to have to hide them away for years, but I also don't want DD playing with them. She broke so many last year, mostly it was tacky ones, but 2 had some sentimental value. :(

BB3 · 17/12/2011 16:00

penguin hope he's ok x

PenguinArmy · 17/12/2011 18:48

Doc says he is alright (apart from being ill obviously). Hopefully it won't be long before he's feeding better and his voice returns to normal. Cracked out the pump, think I'll need to do another express before bed to help keep supply up. The initial attempt DS didn't take any, but DD finished it off and then asked for more.

OP posts:
GroovyRach · 17/12/2011 20:00

Aw glad to hear penguin Smile

BB3 · 17/12/2011 20:55

Penguin - very glad he's ok! Xx

I'm really worried about supply at the moment - have a horrid d&v bug and I'd normally feed and express every day but where I can't keep anything down am getting nothing out when I express so worried I'm not producing enough x hopefully tomorrow will be better and I can start to build up again x

Girls are just settling down in their baskets and I'm going to do a bit of house work, shower and bed! Hopefully all by 9.30 after I've watched the strictly result! Xx

mpops · 17/12/2011 21:49

Aw, good news Penguin. It's horrible when they're poorly. x

GroovyRach · 17/12/2011 21:59

bb3 not sure if it's something you would try, but I've been taking fenugreek tablets for a week now to bring back my supply. I've went from a drip to tonight managing 3/4 of oz in one go. Obv that's not a lot for you to feed with but it's definitely working for me!!

So glad I decided to try bring back my milk. It's hard work. Having to pump for 15 mins at least 3 times a day. Should be much more but I'm just not finding the time. Have seen a big increase tonight so hopefully it's going the right way. I'm saving up what I express through the day then giving it to S first before her bottle of formula. Makes me Smile that it's my milk. Hopefully in next month or so, I can get enough through day to feed one bottle of ebm

PenguinArmy · 17/12/2011 22:05

thanks all, I feel a bit silly because that's twice I've used NHS for him in the last few days (first to check I could keep dosing with calpol when he had his fever) but I just thought to myself that if he did develop a infection I would hate myself for not taking him. I feel loads more relaxed now though, even though it's still horrible listening to him and watching him being sick.

groovy that's amazing, you'll be hitting 25oz a day in no time at this rate.

BB3 It's nerve wracking trusting your supply will right itself, but it will. I found from this point on with DD that my body adjusted to not expressing really quickly i.e. I missed a pump for 2 days and I had to start from scratch to build it back up again. My body was almost too good at regulating itself. In a way I'm mainly pumping because I don't want a baby acting like it's in a growth spurt when on my own with the two of them come Monday.

mpops · 17/12/2011 22:13

You shouldn't feel bad Penguin! That's what the NHS is there for. You can't really take any risks when they're so little and it's awful sitting there worrying about them when you can just ask an expert.

Groovy, it's lovely that you have managed to bring back your milk supply!

PenguinArmy · 17/12/2011 22:20

mpops you said it so well

right, I better try some sleep :)

OP posts:
Fleecy · 17/12/2011 23:03

Glad to hear you're reassured penguin If in doubt I always play it safe and get medical advice when it relates to the children.

Very envious of those of you near or less than your pre-pregnancy weight. I was very happy with my figure before this pregnancy as I was doing a lot of exercise and was pretty toned with a flat tum. Not the case now! Haven't exercised for nearly a year now (my SPD put a stop to it fairly early on in pregnancy and put me off!) and am carrying an extra stone and a bit.

Still, had a night out last night and, with the help of spanx, squeezed in to a minidress from last winter and felt pretty good. MIL came and stayed at ours with the DC and we stayed at hers so had an uninterrupted sleep. Except that we rolled in late and got to bed at 3.45 so less sleep than usual Grin

groovy brilliant news on your supply. So impressive! Sorry about the poo pants day though. I hate it when they get overtired and you feel so inadequate because you just can't seem to soothe them.

Right, off to bed. Blimmin' shattered this evening!

LittlePebble · 18/12/2011 07:12

Morning all, penguin how is DS this morning? I hope he's on the mend.

groovy well done re your supply that's brilliant you must be so pleased Grin

I have survived my first night alone with Elijah, not the best night but we've done it!

Can't believe he's 9 weeks today, I put him into a 3-6 month babygro yesterday and his feet are at the end of it already [Shock] He's got long chubby legs and is generally very big for his age, have pulled out all his 3-6 month stuff as I'm worried he'll grow too big and not get to wear any of it. Really Sad to have to pack away all newborn and 0-3 stuff so soon where did my little baby go?

CheshireDing · 18/12/2011 10:33

Gosh Pebble E must be a long baby :) Even though P is now 10.9lb the baby grows for 9lb's are still a bit long and baggy on her (although I think she is going to be a short arse like me)! I have started putting her in random combinations of clothes to make sure she has been able to wear everything before it's too small too. Yesterday she had pinky/orange dungarees, orange socks and pink shoes, good job she was in her pram Grin

P has a right snot nose this morning and was quite hot last night, poor baby keeps sneezing and have snot on her face and red eyes. God knows what I will be like if she ever gets REALLY ill, I feel sooo sorry for her today.

Penguin and Bilblio how are the boys this morning? I hope they are feeling a lot better today.

CheshireDing · 18/12/2011 10:37

Forgot to say...

I read an article in the middle of the night which said the WHO re-did the growth charts in 2006 and that basically the ones in our red books are from research done in the 1930's and 70's on ff babies.

DH looked up the new graphs this morning and when we marked P's weight gain it said she was born on 25th centile (rather than 9th) and that she is now on 50th centile (rather than 25th).

I figure no harm in having both for interest so we have printed off the new chart and are going to put it in the red book. I am sure the HV will LOVE that when she sees it, ha ha!

BB3 · 18/12/2011 11:17

Cheshire do you have the link to those charts? When ds was born I had a chart for bf babies and ff babies but now only one!Hmm

Thanks groovy, might give them a try if it continues to slow down x

penguin, when Ayse-Rose was taken to hospital with her viral infection they said to me that a newborn baby can go from nothing to serious very quickly so to ALWAYS, always get it checked (in that heightened tone too) even if you're at the drs/NHS every day so don't feel bad, glad he's ok x I once left ds' cough a bit too long (in my defence he wasn't bothered by it one bit) and it developed into a really, really nasty chest infection so you definitely did the right thing x

Off shopping today, will, will, will finish my Christmas shopping today! And tonight I'm wrapping! (I love, love, love wrapping christmas presents!)

PenguinArmy · 18/12/2011 12:02

the red book should be the updated bf ones (bf babies actually weigh a bit more for the first few months) these are the ones we have from here either way jut beware a HV that uses any chart or any rule too rigidly.

DS is doing better, it's hard to describe as in a lot of ways he's the same but it just feels different. DD however had a brief respite before her fever hit so we shall wait and see.

My boiler is broken brrrrrrrrr Sad trying to light a fire with no fire lighters. It would have to happen when I'm alone, hurry home DP!

BB3 · 18/12/2011 15:49

Oh no pebble hope you managed to get a fire lit xx

TallyBear · 18/12/2011 18:42

Having a thick moment - could someone please explain to me about centiles?

Pebble hope you managed to get some heat. And the boiler fixed.

Not finished xmas shopping yet....help....

PenguinArmy · 18/12/2011 18:51

If your baby s on the 25th centile for weight, 75% of babies the same age are heavier, 25% lighter. It is on a growth chart per se, babies grow in chunks not steadily so a variation over time of plus/minus two centiles is normal.

pebble arggghhhh for you :(

I can't believe the difference in DS, this time yesterday he was still getting worse now he's feeding quite well again. :)

OP posts:
PenguinArmy · 18/12/2011 18:52

not a growth chart...
and is not s

cheekydino · 18/12/2011 20:16

Hello all, have been reading thread for weeks now without posting, sorry, but am reasonably up to date - glad everyone seems to be coping really well with everything the little monkeys are throwing at us. Hope the sick babies recover soon and good luck with boiler-fixing pebble.

Am in awe of your efforts at bringing milk back groovy, you must be so pleased.

Bb3 - hope you are feeling better soon.

We are doing ok - dd now 12 weeks and it has gone so much more quickly than with ds. Nights are really good (touch wood) with her sleeping through most nights this week from 8.30 til 6 or 7. (Am scared to write that in case it jinxes things) Days are different though - refluxy symptoms are getting worse and going remotely flat for naps during the day almost impossible. Making us all grumpy and feel very sorry for ds on the days where he is not at nursery. Thinking of going to the doctor tomorrow to ask for some medication for her. Have tried Gaviscon and that made her worse.

Still - Christmas soon and ds is so excited Smile I'm looking forward to it for the first time in ages.
