Strong tea and a jumbo packet of custard creams are getting me through today Confused

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 07/12/2011 21:30

Welcome back scheh my milk must also tast like chocolate Grin I lost loads of weight when BFing DS and when mhairi was born I was losing weight again but have now started piling it on again (v unhealthy relationship with biscuit tin) plus I found a recipe for homemade chocolate fudge which turned out to e far far too easy to make (I ate 2 baking trays worth in 1 week Shock

M generally goes 2-3 hours now between feeds day and night although she is much better ar going back to sleep in the night now.
She currently wears a vest, sleepsuit (with socks under) and is swaddled in a shawl/blanket then has a loose blanket on top (but I am in Scotland and it's freezing here)
When ds was in his sleeping bag he wore the same but with sleeping bag instead of blankets and he switched to the fleecy sleepsuits in winter.

U can get sleeping bags with arms from mothercare/jojomamanbebe although think they are pretty pricy!

mpops · 07/12/2011 22:22

Heh, scheh, fried bread! Dreamy!

Awen, could she be cold or very tired? Apart from hunger, D only ever cries when she's exhausted and it's a thankless cry because she won't sleep! Or she could be going through a growth spurt/wonder week? I find a walk in the pram/sling for an hour so they can get some sleep always helps settling them. Or a spot of bf if you're doing it, like Scheh said. Good luck.

MamaMaiasaura · 07/12/2011 22:33

Scheherazade - yup bfing. Dh took her for 15 mins while I sorted stuff I needed. Been busy day so guess unsettled her. She fights sleep and only wants me. Inline it's a need but hard when all day and I feel bad for other children. Dh was an arse tonight which didnt help.

In bed now trying to get j so sleep while ds2 is snoring softly Smile

MamaMaiasaura · 07/12/2011 22:36

Mpops - I think it's tiredness tho right time for growth spurt.

I have a dairy milk most evenings Blush and cheese with grapes

Fleecy · 07/12/2011 22:40

Can't stop eating here either. Trying to be good but gained weight last week. I need to exercise more self control. Wouldn't mind the recipe for the fudge though Grin

L has a cold still and is all snuffly at night. She woke at 5.45 last night for a feed so not too bad. Hoping she'll sleep through again soon though.

Unfortunately DS is coming down with something and is a little feverish and has had his first night terror tonight. It's really horrible and nothing you can do to help but cuddle them Sad

So not expecting a brilliant night tonight as his screaming will no doubt wake the other two.

Will see you all again on the other side...

Fleecy · 07/12/2011 22:44

oh and hope tonight goes well and she settles nicely and sleeps beautifully to make up for the lack of sleep today awen

MamaMaiasaura · 07/12/2011 23:12

Fleecy hope your night is filled with lovely sleep. J still being a pickle. She settles and makes this noise like an old car trying to crank up and builds it up to a full blown cry.

MamaMaiasaura · 08/12/2011 06:57

After all that she's only just woken for change and feed and fallen asleep again. So wakeful teary days mean sleepy nights here. Now to just split my self in 3 for each of my kids

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 08/12/2011 08:10

fleecy
it's 200-300g of dark choc
1 can condensed milk
50g butter

Put all in plastic mixing bowl and into microwave for 3 mins
Line baking tray with greaseproof paper.
When done mix v well and pour into tray and put in fridge to set. then cut into squares

Told u it's too easy! End up eating it all the time Blush

CheshireDing · 08/12/2011 08:25

God is that how you make fudge! Sounds very easy so it's a good job I don't have a microwave, I ate 2 snickers yesterday so that's bad enough and then the fruit in the fruit bowl goes mouldy because I ignore it.

Much better sleep from P, just 1am and 5am. Although because DH is off today he hasnot set his alarm so we have just woken now (8am), which feels dead late and a bit of a novelty. Morning routine messed up today then Grin

Welcome back Sheh I hope you have been resting from mucking out too. I am hoping P wants a pony one day

Groovy I think your ex will come wanting to be interested in S again if/when he splits up with his gf. You would think if he was that bothered now he would have made sure there was a continuing regular payment for her. It's hard to imagine not wanting to see them now they are here isn't it?

LittlePebble · 08/12/2011 08:29

Oh Edward that's naughty! I'm going to have to try that now..I'm never going to fit in my wedding dress! (promise to self to diet in new year as reaches for chocolate Blush)

Scheherezade good to hear you are ok, Smile well done on your bf I'm impressed at how you managed to keep going.

We've had a bad couple of nights was trying to do 3hr feeds as suggested by Engels as I think he snacks then dozes then snacks. But it did not go down well yesterday evening, will see how we get on today - have 6 wk check with doctor (late as Elijah is 7.4wks) he was weighed etc Tuesday by hv and he's on 91st centile but she reassures me you can't over feed a breast fed baby, hope she's right as he's getting really chubby (very cute but DP and I were both overweight kids and I'm worried he'll take after us).
Hope everyone has had lots of sleep Awen Envy at your night! Xx

Engelsmeisje · 08/12/2011 08:41

Hey ladies, lovely to hear all your news.

I may have to try that fudge Edward Grin I cannot stop eating! Put on 15kg when pregnant and lost 10kg of that straight after birth and in the first 2 weeks, but this last 5kg is going to take some shifting. Am so fed up with my jelly belly - looks fine when I'm standing up, but sitting down it's a real spare tyre Sad Time to do some exercise - does Wii Fit count?

M is still doing pretty well with longer gaps between feeds though yesterday evening he was ready for his 7pm feed at 6. He's starting only haveing one night feed at about 4am (11.30 feed doesn't count, even though we're going to bed so ridiculously early that I'm deep in sleep by the time it comes around!)...long may it continue!

GP gave DH some allergy medication at our appointment on Tuesday and he's slept through the last 2 nights - didn't even hear me get up! Not sure if it's the medication, or the relief of having been to our GP to discuss his problems (but either way YAY!).

Re: gummy eyes, saw our MW for 6 week check yesterday and she also recommended cooled cammomile tea (though, let's be honest, it's a lot less hassle just to use a bit of breast milk!)

Continuing my Christmas preparations today - managed to get the tree up but not decorated yesterday so time to put on the carols and get festive (and also pay my credit card and post my grandad's birthday card which seem to have slipped my mind...anyone else having trouble keeping track of anything not baby-related?!).

GroovyRach · 08/12/2011 09:57

Oh dear, it's a day in. 100mph winds are coming! All schools in Glasgow have been shut as they don't want anyone out on the roads between midday and 3pm when it's at it's worse! It's a day to be snuggled Grin

Engelsmeisje · 08/12/2011 10:24

It's eerily quiet here Groovy. I expect we'll get your weather tomorrow!

MamaMaiasaura · 08/12/2011 11:04

Here we go again. Tv on all day Jessica crying if not being held/rocked/fed/changed = S has no time and me stressed. Too wet/windy/cold to o to park or walk. Soft play means Sam on his own as I can't leave Jessica. :-(

MamaMaiasaura · 08/12/2011 11:14

I can post on here as on mobile btw Wink she's keeps opening on eye like a pirate to check I've not dumped her and scarpered. Got sling but she's only happy in it if I am
Moving.

Trudyla · 08/12/2011 12:05

OMG! 8pm to 4am constant screaming. Xmas Sad

It seemed as if he wasn't getting full. My boobs felt all empty and he just screamed in frustration. How can nature have designed babies to go through so much pain? It really seems unfair and it's shite that I can't help him.

Never have daylight and a cuppa been so comforting. Everything's shit at night.

Sorry for the moan. Haven't got much else to say for myself, but will def give that fudge a try Xmas Grin

We'll put our Xmas tree up today. Very excited and a bit nervous what DD (16 months) will make of it. Though we did have to cat proof our trees for years now, so child proofing it shouldn't be much different.

Awen F is the same, only sleeps on us or in sling or pram but only when we're moving. I'm hoping this counts as exercise Xmas Grin even though I might just walk to get some more chocolate

Oh and for me it's a total lie that breastfeeding helps loosing weight. It didn't help me with DD, I only lost weight when dieting strictly, and it doesn't help this time. Oh well.

Right, I'd better be off again. DD's lunch nap will soon be over.

Have a good day all.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 08/12/2011 13:45

Winds here are terrible! So scary
Dh has had to take day off work :-( and he is out with next door neighbour trying to add extra support to garden fence!
I've heard that a bus has blown over as well as trees/fences/ lampposts and billboards Shock

GroovyRach · 08/12/2011 14:11

Yeah, I just looked out and there are tiles off by roof. Pray I don't start leeking!! It sounds really bad. Someone on twitter posted a pic of the Clyde, water very high!!

Scheherezade · 08/12/2011 14:20

Oh dear Trudy- I know that feeling! Its good that you kept putting it on, because it'll make your body make more milk. The growth spurts periods are awful, when I was expressing little C was demanding EIGHT ozs every three hours, it was awful, I just had saggy sacks on my chest the whole time! How did you cat proof your tree?

We've opted without an xmas tree this year, but have decorated the living room - we live in a very cosy old cottage with abig woodburner, and so put a big mantelpiece decoration and loads of wreaths up, and it looks as good as, and saves us £40 on a tree!

Just got fed up with trying to settle C so I could make dinner for later (CHECK ME OUT!) so I finally worked ou thow the carrier worked and stuck him on, and now he's asleep in his cot - result! Think I will reward myself with a cup of tea and watch a crimbo film.

Awen - she sounds far too clever for her own good Grin

We had a bad night, he finished his bottle at 10, then woke up at 1.30-2.30, 4.30-5.30, 8-11.I should be mroe tired but feeling quite sprightly, I suspect it's the chuftiness from finally cooking a nutritious meal AND eating a banana.

Anyway HV has been and weighed him, 12lbs 9oz, little fatty.

Scheherezade · 08/12/2011 14:24

putting HIM on - sorry! Blush

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 08/12/2011 15:04

Well there goes my garden fence and my bank balance
Sad

GroovyRach · 08/12/2011 15:29

Ed - oh no!!!

Scheherezade · 08/12/2011 15:29

Oh no Ed :( we had a power cut, but we have them all the time anyway. I have washing outside (a little outhouse that has our appliances in), and really don't want to go out to get it :(
