Thanks mlic I really need all the positive stories I can get. Am in the middle of my evening melt down Sad

As for names, we're pretty set on Frederick now, despite the connotation with the cartoon pig over here. We are very likely gonna be moving back to England anyway, so school teasing wouldn't be an issue and lots of people have said that whatever name we choose it might be turned into something mean by school kids or someone might have come up with an even worse cartoon pig by then. Or, like in M's case, a similar name is turned into a West End musical Angry

As for the second name we are torn between Siegfried, which has family value for us or Edgar. I love the name Edgar and we were considering it for the first name, I just hate it being shortened to Eddie, so we decided against it. I love the sentiment of Siegfried, cos M's second name is also that of a lovely but sadly not longer with us family member, so it would be nice to have the same for baby boy, but I don't like the old fashionedness of the name.

Thanks for telling me your meeting stories of newborn and toddler mlic and chul. I told them to DP and we both laughed at how different and unique little people are. Quite exciting.

Thanks for the tip about not saying no too often and being overly precious about M touching the baby. I have thought about that too and will try my hardest to pretend to be relaxed about it. We've already got her into the habbit of washing her hands more often, which I've been very lazy about, so she doesn't associate it with the baby.

viks Sounds grim your end, but it's probably a good sign that you're hungry. Well done to your DH for stepping up. Not often that I've said positive things about him Grin

Was gonna say lots more (in the post I lost Angry ) but can't remember anything now.

Dinner: Chicken sandwiches.

Woodlands · 19/10/2011 18:32

poor you viksam, how rotten! glad you're on the mend.

have had a pretty dull day with J. Went for a walk to Homebase and took him to the library where he had a bit of a crawl around. He fell asleep on me this afternoon and slept till almost 5... oops. Not sure when he'll get to bed tonight! This bug does seem to make him need lots of sleep so maybe he'll be OK.

I'm so pleased you've settled on Frederick and not let some silly cartoon stop you choosing a lovely name :) FWIW my opinion is that middle names are used so infequently that I really wouldn't worry about 'old-fashionedness' of a name if you like it. I very, very rarely use my name, does anyone?

I also like one of your names in particular vik, for obvious reasons Wink I like Franklin too, a lot actually.

viksam · 19/10/2011 20:00

Haha mylife i wondered if u would, i really like it too. Just had some toast, hope it stays down, i think it will.

DesperateHousewife21 · 19/10/2011 21:03

Oh good god I think I've got thrush and I think I've given it to dh. I've feigned ignorance because I thought mine was clearing up but obv not quick enough! I might need some canestan duo. God dammit!

Really can't be bothered with Ds middle of the night wake ups, he's made no improvement at all so now I'm worried that he still needs me to get back to sleep just my presence rather than my boob.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 19/10/2011 21:15

dh it's only been a few days. You need to give this time to work. For 15 months he's had it his way, it's not going to sink in straight away things are changing, but he will get used to it. You just need to be consistent in whatever you choose to do.

Ouch re thrush.

viksam · 19/10/2011 21:31

oh dh that sucks, i had it for months at the beginning of this pregnancy, just couldnt shift it, hope it goes quickly for u.
Im off to bed for the third time today, im so tired, glandular feaver is going around this area, i sooooo hope i havent got that!!!

WhatSheSaid · 20/10/2011 06:56

dh urgh, hope you're better soon. And you too vik

Chul I like Adam, it was ruled out for us though as dh's half-brother is Adam so it had already been used iyswim. I like Ben too and I don't know any (but I'm not in the same country so not really relevant Grin).

I could never think of any boys names I loved - I was quite relieved I only had to think of girl's names. Even that wasn't easy for dh and I to agree on, we didn't agree on a name for G till she was 9 days old. I knew what I wanted for her middle name as if you put A's middle name and G's middle name together it makes my mum's name - so they're both named after her but neither have her actual name. But it was a bugger trying to agree on her first name.

Actually I do really like Patrick for a boy's name, it's one of those names that everyone has heard of but there aren't that many of them around.

Feel really headachey, it's been a long day and dh just phoned to say he won't be back till after the kids bedtime. I had a mole removed from my face yesterday so I have a lovely line of blue stitches down my cheek Hmm, will look better when the stitches come out next week.

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/10/2011 08:42

D was up from 2 til 4 last night just lying there awake but if we went out the room he cried. He eventually drifted off and slept for a whole hour. He then came in our bed and slept solidly for 3 hours til 8. He seems to sleep best in our bed again but only once hes spent the night in his room first.

His voice box has taken a battering too, he's really croaky :(

Dh tried to settle him around 3ish but D woke up as soon as he left the room so dh had a tantrum. He does not have alot of patience!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 20/10/2011 08:48

I know a 5 year old Patrick.

Really curious now what the girls' middle names are wss!

Ds2 was up at 11.30, only an hour after I fell asleep so I really struggled to pull myself round as I was in a really deep sleep. Then ds1 was shouting me for no fucking reason at 4.40am. He was just wide awake for some reason Confused He didn't wake ds2 thankfully, then I got to sleep until 7.35am, but the borken night has left me shattered again. I feel like I haven't had more than a dozen good nights' sleep in 3 and a half years :(

I've had two moles removed, one when I was 11 and one when I was 26, hope you're ok wss.

CakeandRoses · 20/10/2011 08:58

sorry i've been mega busy again - off to work now so will try to catch up properly later.

i love franklin and frederick (i must like boys F names). i think adam's a good strong name too. i'm doing this from memory so apols for any i've not mentioned - doesn't mean anything awful!

fabian is another boys name i love (another F?!). i met a really cool good-looking teenage boy who shortened it to fabe - tis funny how people can shape names for you like that isn't it?

i also quite like forrest - wtf is it with me and Fs?

two more at the top of our list were: Xavier and F was very nearly called Caspian. I chose the name F after he was born and i saw he was fair so F seemed more suited than caspian. you can all laugh now Grin

A's middle name is Molly, mlic. it's fine just a bit meh and twee for my taste and sounds pretty weird with her first name. but hey ho, tis prolly less embarrassing than F's which is winston Grin

A had no back-up girls' name as we couldn't agree on any others. dh's taste runs to stuff like mary Hmm

Chulita · 20/10/2011 08:59

Caspar's not for us Grin I do know one already anyway so probs wouldn't because of him. I really like Finlay, I know one of those and he's such a sweetie! Michael is one of my all-time favourite names but my it's my bro's name and basically my last name too so can't have that. I was thinking last night that I really like Seth and I don't know any.

wss sounds a bit painful, ouch! hope it heals up quick.

dh L took 2 weeks to break from her nightfeeding habit and she was 10 months old. It's completely up to you but if you do go back to what you were doing it could well take longer next time you try cos he'll know you've given in before.

How're you feeling today viks?

I went to bed at 7pm last night, needed it too. today's a new day though, wiggles&giggles in an hour and a bit , we're going to take along our germy cookies to share.

chul would Luke suit or be too close to L's name? all luke's i know are always lovely Smile

Chulita · 20/10/2011 09:02

I actually like Mary, so no Hmm's from me, but again the Curse of the Last Name strikes again. Probs a good thing though so no snickering from cake should this one be a girl :)

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 20/10/2011 09:02

xposted you chul so read my other post re names too Smile

bloody piss-takers to good for the like of you lot anyway Grin

right - must go!!

Chulita · 20/10/2011 09:03

I did have a friend in secondary school called Michelle Mitchell which I think has put me off alliterating names forever.

OP posts:
Chulita · 20/10/2011 09:03

Chulita · 20/10/2011 09:04

OP posts:
CakeandRoses · 20/10/2011 09:05

i was typing v quickly

WhatSheSaid · 20/10/2011 09:12

A's middle name is Rose, mlisc and G's is Mary, so if you put them together you get my mum's name Smile.

We actually gave A an extra middle name at the last minute (named after both her great-grannies, one of whom is still alive) as we realised otherwise her initials would spell ARS and dh was convinced she would get teased mercilessly about it.

The mole removal wasn't painful at all, only felt the needle going in for the local, the mole was fine but used to get itchy and inflamed so decided to get rid of it.

Oh and Trudy my two run around holding hands too, it's very cute. They play wrestle on the sofa too Grin

Spirael · 20/10/2011 09:47

[crawls in] Augh, yesterday was a bit of a nightmare. Nothing especially significant, just work being inefficiently stressful, a friend ditching on essential transportation (car in garage) at the last minute, DH a bit down over a few things and M uncharacteristically upset with a few symtoms that can probably be traced to teething.

Oh well, hopefully today will be better! M was giggling at DH's fluffy deerstalker hat earlier as we left the house, which made a much happier start to the day. We also made double chocolate brownies last night, so I have a box full of them sat next to me. Grin

Anyway, the reason why I'm posting (and not working) is because it's funny you mention the name Caspian, Cake. Grin That was a possible name for M if she'd been a boy, and is currently top of the list for eventual DC2 if we have a boy then.

I like Caspar too, though I'd spell it Casper, which unfortunately has Ghost connections...

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 20/10/2011 12:37

Oh I bloomin wrote Set last night then deleted it, didn't think you'd want another 'S'. I wrote Sebastian too, but prefer Seth

That's really nice about the girls' middle names wss. I like A's middle name cake!

I agree with alliteration too chul, I know a Robert Robinson. Just why?

Chulita · 20/10/2011 12:53

I don't think we could have another 'S', someone already asked us if it was deliberate Hmm I didn't even realise til he was a few months old (DH is an 'S' too)

OP posts:
MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 20/10/2011 13:09

I know someone whose children's names (one boy, one girl) start with the same letter as her husband's first name. It isn't deliberate, it just turned out that way. She thought her dd was a ds and had picked my surname as a first name, so that wouldn't have been the same, then she was a girl and it was the only name they liked/thought suited her. It would seem a little twee though, if I didn't know it wasn't actually deliberate.

ds2 had 10 minutes sleep in the car on the way home from the park and has sinced refused to sleep. After an hour of talking to himself in his cot, I've admited defeat and got him up.
