A lot*

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 10/11/2011 08:34

No I haven't considered it for my two. But then dh and I have both had chicken pox and I've also had shingles, so I think it's better to just get them if it's going round, the younger the better as like you said it isn't really an issue for kids but it can be for adults. I guess you need to speak to your dh and see what he thinks, but tbh if there's an outbreak he'd be at risk anyway.

Keep forgetting to say chul, thanks for the bread recipe. I've forgotten what it was like to cut into the loaf and it not disintegrate. I'm into my second loaf of it now and it's lovely thanks. I have just written down your fruit loaf recipe too, think I might put that in the breadmaker bake that today.

i was watching that fabulous how i made my millions program - well worth catching up on it if you have any interest in business, entrepreneurs and how to do things at all ethically. innocent boss richard is my new idol. watching that was top and tailed and interspersed with a teething Lady A and keeping on top of work.

off to work today - yay! altho it has to be said i actually really enjoyed yday with F and A. F was a total delight all day (A always is).

i'm starting to think the alternate day working thing i usually do has its issues as it's harder for us all to get into a routine and get used to being round each other iykwim? i'll see how i feel tomo as it's one of the first times i've put them in 2 days in a row but if i feel ok and they are then i might try mixing it up a bit in jan.

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/11/2011 09:01

Dh and I have spoken about it a bit but he thinks he's immune because he didn't get it as a child so he thinks it's avoidable and seems to think D won't get it Hmm just because he didnt get it doesn't mean D won't.

MalibuStac · 10/11/2011 09:12

Morning all

Shit night here again, thought it may have been teeth so calpoled her before bed but it made no difference. Does everyone give suppper before bed and what do you give them?

dh dp got chicken pox when he was 24 and it was terrible. I would suggest your dh gets the vaccine rather than D as its your right it is worse for adults. I've not heard of the lollies but have heard of chicken pox parties :S

How was the book mlisc?

cake since starting college R has been away 3 days a week from me which I found made me enjoy the time off with her. Bit gutted as of monday it will be 5 days a week but she's loving nursery as I'm sure your 2 are. Maybe having your days altogether will be nicer for you all.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 10/11/2011 09:38

It's quite a harrowing read in places Stac but a good book. Makes me thankful for my children that's for sure! What was the film like Gracie? Worth going to see?

I think you def have a point cake - I think one day home, one day nursery, one day home may be more confusing (in a routine sense) than 2/3 days of each at a time. Like Stac says I found I appreciated ds1 more for having 'missed' him iyswim. That's why I think in a way I'd be a better parent if I worked - I appreciate them more for having a Friday away from them and think work would give us all the balance I crave. Problem is soooooo much unemployment means even getting a little admin job nigh on impossible cos there is so little about that when a job comes up there is so much compitition. I would love to go back to work for my old boss, but she now works for dh so that's a no-no. I would never mix business with pleasure, nless it was my own business.

Trudyla · 10/11/2011 11:27

Not read yet. Just a quickie.

Frederick (I will put full name on FB) was born 7/11/11. After nearly everything that could go wrong, went wrong, he was delivered by emergency c section and we've only just come out of hospital. We're both OK and he is utterly gorgeous, but I'm still getting over the shock of it all.

Will try and catch up soon.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 10/11/2011 11:32

Aw Trydy...congratulations on the birth of Frederick! So sorry to hear it wasn't a good experience, I do hope you're ok

Looking forward to pics on fb when you're feeling up to it!

Congratualtions Thanks

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 10/11/2011 11:32

Who is Trydy? Confused Sorry about that Trudy!

Woodlands · 10/11/2011 12:09

Oh crikey, sorry to hear you had such a rough time, but many many congratulations!

Chulita · 10/11/2011 12:24

Congrats trudy!! sorry you had a tough time, bet he's gorgeous and so worth it!
Looking forward to pics, get lots of rest and cuddles!

Thanks
viksam · 10/11/2011 14:09

Trudy so glad to hear from u! Hope ur getting plenty of rest, don't push yourself right now, it's so important that u recover well. Can't wait to see pics and hear ur story when ur ready to tell. Thinking of u xx
Well I had a consultants app this morning and to cut a long story short after I told him about the lack of movement and he measured me he decided to get me an emergency scan as he thought the baby was very small. They scanned me straight away and checked loads of things and all is well thank goodness. I was quite scared for a while though i have to say! On a different note D slept 7.10 till 6.20 without a peep, not a peep, the best night ever i think! Amazing.

Spirael · 10/11/2011 15:26

Congratulations Trudy! :) Sorry to hear things didn't go smoothly, but very glad that the end result was good.

Frederick's a lovely name, can't wait to see pictures and hear the story when you've got the time and energy. What does your M think of her baby brother? Grin Is she being a good big sister?

Glad to hear your tiny LO is ok too, viksam. All this talk of tiny babies is making me feel quite broody, especially with M moving up to the toddler room and stomping around with all the bigger kids!

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/11/2011 16:24

vik glad the scan went ok, it's scary when you can't really feel movement. Great about Ds sleep too, hope my D sleeps like once in his life

Been down the park for 2 hours, bumped into 2 friends which was nice. I also managed to push the buggy through dog poo grrrrrrrrrrrr!!

WhatSheSaid · 10/11/2011 16:57

Congrats trudy, hope you're ok. They've let you out quite soon after an emergency c/sec - I was in for 5 days after mine.

dh mine haven't had the chicken pox vaccine, you can get it for about 40 quid here. A had chicken pox at 10 months, G hasn't had it yet.

mlisc I'm def going to see the film of We Need To Talk About Kevin when it comes out here - it's had really good reviews

WhatSheSaid · 10/11/2011 17:14

Oh and glad the scan showed everything was ok vik. They kept giving me extra scans as they were worried my dcs wouldn't grow well as I had high blood pressure. They then told me each of my dds would be well over 9lb at birth. They were both 7lb 14 Hmm.

Dh has a cracking case of manflu, every time he sniffles he does it in a I'm being so brave kind of way. He's staying off work today and came home early yesterday. He phoned from work yesterday and I asked him if he had taken any paracetomol for it. His reply was "To be honest, this cold is so bad, I don't think paracetomol would touch the pain" . I was sorely tempted to point out to him that I had been given paracetomol while in labour and THAT was a real situation in which paracetomol wouldn't touch the pain...Anyway he has an unexpected 3 and a half day weekend so that's good apart from all the brave sniffling

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 10/11/2011 18:12

Gosh vik, glad everything is ok!

You wanna be careful you don't catch that man-flu wss, I've heard it's a killer. DH tells me so anyway. Let's hope if you catch anything it's just a cold Hmm Grin

I'm making pizza for dh's tea. Don't know what to do myself though. Have got barely anything in as I'm intending on doing my meal-planning tonight and food shopping tomorrow. In the peace and quiet that is shopping with no children!

Gracie123 · 10/11/2011 19:25

DH tells me that they once managed to give a strain of man flu to a female ape and she went mad with the pain and then her head fell off.

Good thing it can't really cross the sex barrier onto X chromosomes...

Gracie123 · 10/11/2011 19:28

I went to see 'we need to talk about Kevin' and it was terrible.

Maybe it's alright if you haven't read the book, but you'd be sorely missing out if you did that. It's not even close to the book. Complete pants IMHO.

Gracie123 · 10/11/2011 19:34

Don't want to give too much away for those who haven't read the book, but tons of stuff missing, two characters added, about three significant characters cut (and many more less significant) her entire life (well courtship and marriage) before Kevin is born is missing (really important for character development) and story skips around in the wrong order so that you know the ending before you should.

Basically if I was the author is be suing the director for copyright of the title and character names, because it's not even close to a retelling of the story. Angry

CakeandRoses · 10/11/2011 20:08

Oh trudylicious Lovely to hear your news, my lovely!! We've all been dying to know how you (and baby boy) are!

Can't wait to see pics and hear more. Big virtual snuggles for Frederick :)

So sorry you had a rough time, really try to take it easy for a good week as it'll make the rest of the recovery so much quicker.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 10/11/2011 20:17

Oh :( Well whilst I'm disappointed that they didn't do the book justice, I'm glad I know now not to waste £7+ going to the cinema to watch it, thanks! I still fancy The Help which is supposed to be quite good judging by what I've read online.

I'd be interested if you could message me on fb Gracie and tell me the details of what is missing/added? TIA

MalibuStac · 10/11/2011 20:55

Congrats trud, dh and M on the birth of Frederick, looking forward to pictures. Hope your ok trudy Thanks

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 10/11/2011 20:55

Memph hasn't got net for another 10 days so asked me to say 'congratulations and take it easy' Trudy :)

Babyface was all over himself and his bed tonight, 10 mins after being put down. Poor little mite.
