Hello! xxx

sybilfaulty · 17/09/2011 19:18

Hello everyone!

VagolaJahooli · 17/09/2011 20:39

DB I love the title, one if the best yet I think.

Who is Jason Mason?

Had a lovely afternoon of yum cha with friends for DHs birthday was quite yummy. I'm home with the boys tonight while DH has gone out for a drink. I'm so tired, we were up until 2am last night, which is very late for me. Plus I had my first personal trainer session yesterday and I am in so much pain today, every muscle in my body is aching today, even when I'm not moving. Putting my bra on this morning was agony.

VagolaJahooli · 17/09/2011 20:40

Oh & happy birthday Sybs, you a couple of days older than my DH, very young still of course.

SummerLightning · 17/09/2011 21:21

thanks for new thread!

db that dieting sounds a wee bit hard work. Bah, dieting is hard work isn't it? I just wish slightly cutting down would get me to lose weight SLOWLY over a few months, but it doesn't. I have to properly diet and it is shit and not sure I can cope with it at the moment with busyness of going back to work.

After enjoying 30 day shred for a bit, dd got her hands on the dvd and it is now trashed. so having to order a new copy.

toilet training going ok i think, no accidents this afternoon, but about a million this morning. progress I hope!

Oh and of course very cool that db's dd is so smart though terrible that they are doing sneaky streaming and that they didn't recognise it in the first place! (but she must be very smart for them to be getting so wound up over it)

vag you are quite the social butterfly at the moment!

sybs happy birthday!

VagolaJahooli · 17/09/2011 21:33

SL the personal trainer dude I saw yesterday thought my eating habits were ok but advised that I could reduce my meals a little and add snacks of yogurt, fruit & nuts between meals. He said I should aim to eat either a meal or this snack every three hours, as it keeps the metabolism at a consistent level. I'm going to give it a go and see if it helps the weight lose. I good so, well that and this painful weight training.

SummerLightning · 17/09/2011 22:03

I think that would be a good idea vag apart from presumably I would have to eat less at non snack meals to make up. And that is my downfall big troffy meals. That and beer.

JamInMyWellies · 17/09/2011 22:49

Just marking my spot.

Nice thread title thanks dieds.

Back tom.

spotofcheerfulness · 17/09/2011 23:00

marking place, back from hols, more later. x

spotofcheerfulness · 18/09/2011 21:18

Back again, from the incredibly wet North Lancs where we stayed in one of those godawful 'leisure' (I use the term advisedly) villages. Luckily though, there was a pool so we could spend a couple of wet mornings there, but our lodge was right by the A6 so we could hear the lorries thundering throughout the night/early morning.

Nighttime hell, B waking every hour, every night, for a week. T up at 5 because of the traffic noise. Luckily both of us there so could take turns sleeping but meant we spent longer than usual in the house.

There were some nice bits though, saw DP's elderly parents three times, so T could meet his grandma and grandad (we don't see them very often) and B is learning to crawl. He also has an incredibly bad temper, which is quite funny but I fear for the future when he can put words to his rage.

Luckily T's collarbone is healing now, so less drama on that front.

I haven't read through the end of the old thread but wish I could ask, "who is Jason Mason?" T would like to be renamed JM, if at all possible.

V Envy of those TT, still nowhere near yet. Hey ho.

Oh, and I have not had wine for the last two nights and feel a bit wobbly. Dearie me. Now need to gear myself up for the world's crappest sleeper (TM) and no shift sleeping to compensate.

Sorry for the deeply self-indulgent post, will be back with personals and less self-pity anon.

Beans36 · 19/09/2011 09:09

Ah. That doesn't sound that much fun, Spot - are you ok? Exhausting.

DH took the girls off for a sightseeing tour of London yesterday for me. I was feeling like the house was totally filthy and wanted to really get stuck into cleaning it. I did a fantastic job, cooked dinner for DH's uncle, who is coming for supper tonight (big pheasant casserole!) ironed a million and one shirts and the house is finally looking decent. PLUS I went for a 5k run, which was great too. I thought I would finish fairly quickly and be able to put my feet up, but they got back at 3.45 and I had only just literally finished the cleaning. Was quite weird. AND I haven't dusted yet. Clearly the house was disgusting!!! Ooops.

It was so nice to have a day to myself, though. Delighted DH took them off. What a star. And he loved it! Hurray! Hopefully he'll do that more often now!

Off to shops in a minute. Treat.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Sybs - did you have a happy birthday? x

Beans36 · 19/09/2011 14:06

Ooh, one quick other one. DH and I looking to go on a week's holiday towards the end of October. Keen to go somewhere hot with the kids and hopefully with a kid's club. Any suggestions welcome!!

DeidreBarlow · 19/09/2011 17:22

Just a quickie while DC's eating. Went to see DD's HT who is going to be moving her. No arguments, never asked me what prompted my visit but said DD would be better in another class and showed me her Early Years Assessment results. She was well over the average, and in the top few children...so all ended well. But I have THE worst tension headache. I've been so stressed all weekend thinking I'd be having to grass on teachers and governors and thinking the HT might resist and I'd have more of a fight.

I told DD she was moving and she said "Mummy that is so exciting". Bless her.

OP posts:
Nolda · 19/09/2011 18:40

DB - Glad the meeting with the HT went well. You are lucky to have such a clever, sweet little girl.

Vag, I had to ask DD who Jason Mason was. Hope the training gives the results you're after.

Summer - Sorry to hear about the Shred DVD. I hope you have better luck with the new one. I'm still trying to TT DS. He seems to have a bladder of steel and can go without a wee for hours. However, he isn't much good at realising he needs to go. And on the poo front, he has started retaining poo for days because he doesn't want to use the potty, joy.

Spot - sorry your holiday wasn't as enjoyable as you had hoped.

Beans - Super wife again!

DS had his speech therapy assessment a little over a week ago. They said that, although he is quite advanced in some areas, his speech is definitely behind and have put him down for some sessions which should start in November some time. I'm not overly concerned, as I think he has begun to realize that there are advantages to speaking the same language as everyone else since he has started at Pre-School. We have found rhyming books very helpful for increasing his vocabulary. Duck in a Truck and Green Eggs and Ham have been particularly popular and successful. If anyone has any suggestions of books along similar lines, I would be very interested.

Got to go and put those monkeys in the bath!

LadyThompson · 20/09/2011 09:55

Love the title Grin

Going to do a big post when I have tided up a bit. Looking forward to it! Grin (Er, that's posting, NOT tidying up. This place is a pit. It's going to take me more than an hour to sort it out but at least I can skim the very worst off to start with...)

LadyThompson · 20/09/2011 11:23

RRrrrrrright then,

Well, I had a fabulous minibreak in beautiful York. The girls went to Mum's. I don't think DP and I have had a weekend break (well, certainly no more than one night) away since DD1 was born. We even managed to have some quite interesting conversations! It's a great city with an almost indecent amount of nice things about it, and it really brought home to me how splendid some parts of the UK are and how I mustn't just think about London all the time. Admittedly, I think I could love most cities. Anyway, I got to see ZJ again and meet Trace! (And Trace's DD2!) Which was really really lovely, and thanks again, girls, for coming out to meet me. ZJ, I went to the Castle Museum on Sunday and we loved it. And DP got to gawk at the Crown Court as well

LadyThompson · 20/09/2011 11:44

How often are you having your Personal Trainer, Vag? I am jealous. I could do with someone to kick my butt. Although Trace said I wasn't as fat as I make out on here, as she was expecting me to be fatter Grin Which I will take as a massive compliment.

I liked the sound of your recipe, Beans. I would never eat it because I'm a veggie who is trying to avoid carbs, but nonetheless it sounded delicious. Still in awe of your casual 5k runs. Where did your DH take the girls sightseeing? DD1 likes Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. But just glimpsed from a cab. Any news on the offer? You are being very disciplined re: what you want to spend on it. That's good. Sorry you are having probs with DD1's eating. Ensure a balance as far as you can and roll with it, is my advice. I have learned the hard way that upsetting yourself about it doesn't change it! (Though you are probably doing a lot of homecooked food and I can see that if that's uneaten, it's very frustrating!)

Nolda, that's great that you've got the sessions in store for DS but as you rightly say, I am sure pre-school will help on this front. DD1 loves poems and rhymes as well. She likes Kit Wright books but they haven't got colourful pictures in, just little sketches. I will have a think of some other ones, too.

Spot - sorry your break wasn't exactly the break you needed. Are you starting work again after Christmas? Must catch up with the blogs! Any news on the house stuff? I am glad to hear T's collar bone is healing.

Watched Date Night last night. It was quite funny. Better than I was expecting. Anyone watching Downton? I enjoyed it on Sunday night but I had forgotten half of what had happened in Series 1. I am such an old gimmer.

Rubes, you were asking about keenness to go to school - DD1 was slightly less keen this morning because she wanted to stay and play with her toys. It really is a tiny place. Just 6 of them again today, all girls. I would like there to be much more of a learning element (it just seems to be ALL play). On the other hand - as I mentioned, DD1 needs to learn how to mix more, it's really important, so she is learning that, I guess!

Oh yeah - Beans, you asked abou hols for late-Oct. It's Turkey/Egypt/Canaries at that time of year for sun, I would guess?

Oh crumbs, look at the time.

Beans36 · 20/09/2011 13:13

Oh yay! I can't be long as DD2 about to wake up, but just wanted to say that I've finally sold my wedding dress! £515 - in the bank. I'm going to buy myself a piece of jewellery with it - much more memorable than a dress I'm never going to wear again - hurrah!

DeidreBarlow · 20/09/2011 16:42

Beans that is great news about your dress. Wonderful idea to get some jewellery with the cash too.

Lady, York sounded wonderful. I love the Castle Museum.

DD ran into school this morning screaming "Im moving class". Lots of sideways glances from parents and me trying to talk my way round it without sounding like an over bearing pushy parent! I was hoping noone would notice. Oh well.

OP posts:
spotofcheerfulness · 20/09/2011 19:38

Nice one, Beans! That's some serious cash you've made there. What kind of bling are you going to buy?

Great news about DD's Class, Deids. Don't worry about the other parents, they're probably not even thinking about it. But it's lovely your DD is so bright, you must be v proud Smile.

Lady I am so pleased your mini-break went well and you and DP got some quality time together. And v Envy of your meeting ZJ and trace and seeing the Rubes clan.

No news on the house front, should hopefully exchange soon though. Had a bit of a hiccup when the lende wanted more details about the fact that the study (converted from the garage) didn't have planning permission, but as it's not going to be used as a bedroom we'll take the chance and just heat it with electric heaters in the winter.

I've booked T and B in for Tues and Thurs nursery from Jan, so plan is to work from home those days. Thanks for still bothering with the blogs - TBH I've let the language one go for a while as I was a bit optimistic I could maintain two. But here's the PND one - got my first comments yesterday.

traceface · 20/09/2011 20:25

hello!
Well it was very lovely indeed to meet LadyT and see ZJ again Smile I hope my comments on Lady's size didn't come out as badly as they now sound [eek] I had imagined someone taller and was suprised at how petite she was! It always freaks me out a little when my mental image is challenged with an actual image! We all had a lovely natter in one of my fave cafes, with P doing her best to break the record for number of toilet trips (most of them to wash her hands or put something in the bin!) and she also demonstrated her lovely table manners by plunging her fist into her orange juice several times Blush
DB I'm glad the school thing is now sorted and can be put behind you all. Well done Little-Deidre for being such a lovely bright spark.
We had our meeting at school yesterday where the teacher tells us all about the new class. L's class is now being streamed for maths and literacy, but she is a junior now Shock.
I had to have a day off work yesterday with what I guess was a migraine. I had a horrid headache which made me want to put my fist into my head and squeeze my brain. I woke in the night with it and it just got worse, then I was sick in the morning, so had to take the day off. I slept on and off for the morning, but feel pretty much ok today so was back at work today. Got another headache now though so think another early night is in order.
I was cross with my boss today, which I shall now bore you with - feel free to skip to the next post! I don't normally work on a wednesday because I have no child care. We were told that we have a full day meeting with the health visitors next wednesday that I HAD to attend, so I booked Phoebe into her normal nursery, at a cost of £40, so that I could go. Then today we were in the office and my colleague mentioned the meeting planned for next week. She had been talking to one of the Health visitors, who said the meeting had been cancelled, so my colleague asked our boss if she knew anything about it. Our boss said "oh yes it's cancelled. Didn't I email you all to tell you?" to which we all replied "no" and she said " I thought I did". grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So had my colleague not asked her about it, would we have even known about it being cancelled? And having realised that she hadn't let us know, should she not have apologised for not telling us? Anyway, I rang nursery and un-booked the session, which made me feel like a disorganised person, messing them around, which, in turn, made me cry when I put the phone down Sad AIBU to have expected an apology from my boss for this? My boss didn't see my cry, and I didn't tell her how I felt about her not informing us/apologising, and I think I wish I had said something now.
Anyway. Blah. It's probably because I'm a bit tired and headachey that it got to me so much. Maybe I need a slap!
Sorry this has been a bit of a 'me' post.

JollyBear · 20/09/2011 20:41

Hello everyone

I've been completely awol for about a week and a half so I need to go and find the end of the old thread. No idea who Jason Whatsit is?!

Have a read incorrectly about streaming in primary school? Wowsers that seems a bit early DB.

News from the jolly household is that DD1 asked to wear knickers on our first day back from holiday and apart from one wee and one poo in her knickers (on the second and third day respectively) she has been using the potty for 12 days and counting. I am AMAZED that she asked in the first place as all my attempts to encourage her were seemingly falling on deaf ears. Finally the temptation of chocolate buttons proved too strong! I'm just crossing my fingers she keeps it up.

DD2 has found her appetite and forced me into the world of purees. BLW with DD1 was much easier! The blender bit of the kenwood is coming in very useful now ZJ. She has also started sleeping through. It probably doesn't help anyone with a non-sleeping child but she just came out a good sleeper. Even back in the Neo Natal unit the nurses commented that she was very 'chilled out'. I am very, very lucky I know.

Right, I'll do my tesco order and then look for the old thread.

JollyBear · 20/09/2011 21:17

Done a quick read of the last few pages because the tesco site refuses to work. Damn them.

DB How awful that you weren't told about the class mix up. I'm really shocked about streaming although I suppose back in the olden days when I was at primary school we were divided into smaller groups within the class for abilities, reading etc.

LadyT My DD1 has just started at nursery again this week so I understand what you mean about seeing them being the odd one out. I'm sure they'll settle quickly. Sorry not to have made it to York. I was shattered after our hols and it would have been a very long way. Glad you met ZJ and trace, they are lovely ladies Smile.

AAA Well done DD1 on the reading. My DD1 was reciting a book today from memory and said 'listen mummy, I'm reading'. It really tickled me.

JJ Good luck with the house move!

trace Really annoying about that meeting especially when you have to arrange extra childcare.

Nolda DD loves the AA Milne one, 'when we were young', is it? DH reads them and DD says the last word.

beans Good news on selling your dress.

Mmm, I can't remember anything else. My poor brain. I swear I have lost great sections of my short term memory having children.

VagolaJahooli · 20/09/2011 21:22

I keep trying to keep up but just keep being way behind.

Trace I'm sorry about your headache, I don't think the nursery would mind as you gave them plenty of notice, but maybe you cried when you hung up because you just needed a good cry, I find if I am a bit teary but suppress it I get migraines, but if something sets me off and I have a good cry about it I don't get migraines for ages.

DH is away this week and both boys were home today as its the official Royal opening of parliament so all the kids get the day off school. We didnt go to watch the big procession through town as the weather was a bit crap so we went for a swim instead. It was quite a nice chilled day and not too much Grumpypants mummy.

Lady I got a special introductory offer for 3 personal training sessions for ?40 I can then decide if I want to continue which I probably won't as motivation isn't really my problem, a gammy ankle is what is holding me up. I was finally able to do my non weights exercises today without being in too much pain. I was supposed to see him again on Friday but his wife had a baby on the weekend so he is taking this week off, which is good for me as it gives me more time to get some more sessions in before I see him next. Unfortunately my right knee & ankle hurts tonight so I think some physio might finally be a good idea.
