How did I miss the steaming turd in the middle of the living room carpet???

VagolaJahooli · 28/09/2011 22:03

Spot I have no words, I am (almost) literally pissing myself laughing. Too funny.

ZuleikaJambiere · 28/09/2011 22:10

Hello ladies, I was looking forward to a lovely long catch up this evening, with no DH around to want conversation. But the night has run away with me and I'm tired, so will retire now rather than start catching up and still be here at midnight. I'll come back tomorrow, night all x

Beans36 · 29/09/2011 07:56

Whose is it, Spot? Hee hee hee!

VagolaJahooli · 29/09/2011 08:37

Beans! Did you sneak down to bBrighton and do a cheeky one on Spots carpet!

EffiePerine · 29/09/2011 13:32

Lots of chat! I'm going to attempt a proper catch up, two fingers to the chaotic Gods of the MN App who may stymie my good intentions. I even made notes. Reading back on them, they are not hugely helpful. 'Lady - rats; Jam - rolling pin.' Hey ho.

Mom: that is an epic tale! I'm impressed that you had the strength to go back on your plan once you'd decided otherwise.

Lady: ugh ugh ugh to rats. Do you have a ratcatcher or is it a rural pest eradication service or some such nonsense? Saw your news on FB: hope DD2 has completely recovered and a very happy birthday to her Smile.

Jolly that is grand news on DD2. What a star.

Trace running is a good plan, but don't dismiss your doc's ideas just yet. It might help or it might not. Still your decision in the end.

Jam I read your post as claiming you had battered your DH many a time with the rolling pin! Berlin sounds really interesting, I'd love to try a mini break with DH. Only downside being the sorry state of my German. I am addicted to the Bake Off, but it makes me so hungry! My money is on Mary Anne.

Vag: I have SF written next to your name, any ideas? Glad the personal trainer is helping.

Beans a name change to Queen Naked Mole Rat is called for immediately!

spotofcheerfulness · 29/09/2011 13:32

filthy mare

EffiePerine · 29/09/2011 13:41

Spot: the night time rows are the worst. Did you solve the mystery of the rogue poo? I saw the Stephen Fry programme (that's what SF was!) but was actually a bit disappointed. Poss cos I know something about language acquisition already. I thought it could have been a lot more interested. Plus any hint if a tv reenactment and I froth at the mouth so when they got to the feral child bit I was not happy.

Deids glad DD us enjoying her new class.

AAA that's really interesting about the diaries. I'm glad the bit you did read had a positive effect Smile.

News from us: sis (she's 38, 2 years older than me as someone asked) has now told parents, possibly after broadcasting the news on FB. Everyone pleased and no teeth-sucking yet, which must be a Lincolnshire record. DS1 now much more settled at school (thank goodness for full days) but we miss him at home! Until he comes back and starts stropping everywhere, that is. School dinners a big hit, as is playing in the big playground at lunch. I asked him what he had learned yesterday and he said, 'I can be rich by taking everyone's money and putting it in a big box.' I suggested such activities might result in a stay in the slammer, but he wasn't convinced.

JamInMyWellies · 29/09/2011 17:17

Effie I like his plan. Grin

Am going to do a little boast. My fairly quiet shy boy got an award at assembly today. He took DH's marathon medal in to show his teacher all good she put it away for safe keeping. They were having a special celebration assembly and he asked his teacher to go back to class to get the medal. Then he stood up front of the entire school and told everyone about his Daddy running. so proud of him he got a little certificate. Which now has pride of place on the fridge. GrinGrin

Lady hope little D is ok now and that she had a super birthday.

Beans36 · 29/09/2011 18:24

Oh Jam! That is just gorgeous! Well done your little DS! I am so delighted for you. Heaven.

Lady - I just read your FB post. You poor lamb. And poor DD2. Happy Birthday to her - has she recovered? I'm so gutted for you that she's allergic to nuts, as I know they're a big part of DD1's diet. Oh am thinking of you. I hope you had a lovely day anyway and the swelling has gone down?

My DDs are both currently wrapped in the curtain, with DD1 ominously singing the three little monkeys bouncing on the bed song. Usually ends with DD2 being thrown to the ground and inevitable screamng. But not this time. Yay! DD2 suddenly really into kissing us all, which is gorgeous. She is such a busy little bee. I love it. Got so many words now, I'm proud as punch. Boastie me too! DD1 loving her as well at the moment, which is great. Phew.

Went to a lovely friend's house today. She of the violent son! He was actually very sweet. He just gets really over-excited and instead of playing, he starts hurting. It's a bit sad, really, as he's actually a nice little boy. He gave I and P great big cuddles at the end of our visit, but sadly, DD1 is so terrified of him that she just cried. Oopsie.

I've just given them Annabel Karmel's bang bang chicken. DD1 LOVED IT! So rare that she'll eat anything, I am chuffed to bits. Although of course DD2 wouldn't eat any of it. Luckily served with potato waffles and peas, which she wolfed and I ate her bits of chicken. Yummers.

Right, little birds are now playing in the garden in their jamas. Must go and play with them instead of being lazy Mummy on computer.

I vote for Marriott on 14th. Think it's probably easy for everyone to get to? And we hopefully know where it is?

Big love to all. I am already planning my outfit for 14th. Ho ho! I really am. I am a loser!

xxxx

VagolaJahooli · 29/09/2011 19:33

Effie I believe it stands for sexy female, how lovely of you to say.

Lady sorry about your peanut thingy. Bummer. You asked about the PT. I will keep you posted on what he gets me to do. So far I've asked to concentrate on strength training so its loads of painful stuff.

VagolaJahooli · 29/09/2011 19:43

Bloody buggery bum. I have really thick hair and I like holding it up kind of twisted around and held in place with one of those teethy hair clip things. Normal ones usually last a week or two before they break because they don't seem to cope with all my hair. But today I found one that is designed for thick hair and its really pretty. It is a dream in my hair and holds it up beautifully. Stupidly I let DS2 play with it because he liked it as it has a nice design on it. Of course he managed to drop it then somehow kicked it against a wall and snapped it!!! Bum. Be has started feeling remorse lately and as he knew how excited I was about this clip he instantly started tearing up and had a very sad looking bottom lip, then he burst into tears wailing 'sorry mummy, sorry!'. Then DS1 who is far too empathetic started wailing because he also knew how much I liked the hair clip. So I've had to settle two boys who are upset about MY hairclip breaking! Give me strength.

Beans36 · 29/09/2011 21:24

Oh Bumholes Vag. That's a hassle. Did they go off to sleep ok?

Telly rubbish tonight. But I ate a whole bag of Twirl Bites, which made it a bit more bearable.

TheInvisibleHand · 29/09/2011 22:37

Another late evening (and a stinky headache), tooo tired to post properly. But did just want to say the 14th is firmly in the diary - I wouldn't lightly miss the chance to finally meet Vag and see some of you lovely ladies. Anywhere central is fine - Marriot was nice enough.

lots I wanted to say, but it will have to be another night

JumpJockey · 30/09/2011 10:08

oh I'm such a twit. Wrote catchup on one window, swapped to other to see new page of posts, erroneously clicked 'next page' on original and lost post. Effie clearly you are very clever to make notes.

Vag sorry about your hairclip, but good that your boys care enough about you to feel your emotions too. Hope they settled in the end,

Jam how gorgeous about your DS! what a brave little chap. And of course well done to DH for his marathon achievement too...

Mom good to see you're staying here! Definitely a very courageous thing to do if you knew ultimately that it would have been the wrong thing to do - better the temporary inconvenience than ending up in a situation you didn't want to be in.

14th - not going to be able to do evening alas, DH doesn't get out of work til late on Fridays as it's his duty day, so if we think girls to bed by 7.30, leap on a train at 8, arrive in town 9ish, well it's possible and a bit like my old clubbing days (only without getting dressed on the train and [ahem] pepping up the journey a bit with my boyfriend and his best mate). Is anyone arond in the daytime?

Beans your girls are so lovely and how cute about the kissing Grin makes it all worth it.

Lady your post about D being all cute and pudgy was so delicious. Hard to believe she's a year old already! So sorry about the nuts adventure, hope you can ghet her seen very soon and find out what to do about it. Glad you were sensible and took her straight to A&E, S's nursery has a 'wonderful' policy on allergy that says "In the case of anaphylactic shock, we will wait ten minutes then if necessary administer one dose of piriton". Erm, well if it's really anaphylactic shock, that's getting a bit too little too late Hmm

spot you really are in a world of botty related hilarity what with your trumps and the mystery poo!

SL gosh no E's mnot walking but doing that thing where she grabs your trousers then hobbles round behind you, usually when I'm trying to make tea or some such and need to be able to get about. Though this morning she did it and pulled my PJ trousers right down, right in front of the french windows! sorry to hear the potty business is being slow but as this thread is showing, boys generally a bit slower on that front anyway.

JumpJockey · 30/09/2011 10:17

and now that that lot's safely posted...

Lady eek to the rats, hope the yummy poison gets rid of them

trace how exciting about the running! Great to have something to aim for like that and of course we will all sponsor you to the heavens. Hope the meeting goes well with your consultant. I am in awe of you for always keeping your spirits up even in tough times, but also being willing to ask for help when you need it.

AAA glad you feel you made the right decision about the diaries. Your mum sounds like such a fascinating lady, interesting that you say you feel very conventional as you come across here as being pretty brave and bold about a lot of things where many people would just let things tick along. I guess maybe you mean your job (as in part of the 'establishment') but there's much more to a person that that.

Yikes E finally stirring, sleep has got better over the last 2 nights so maybe just a blip, but delighted to report she has gone til 4am 2 nights in a row Grin so maybe she heard about the controlled crying thing and thought "that's not for me!". Plus of course the massive change, which I have not really been appreciating enough, is she is no longer in our bedroom, which means she still burbles a bit but I can generally just go back to sleep rather than being kept awake by it all night. Fingers crossed that this is a permanent change and not just a two night wonder...

JumpJockey · 30/09/2011 10:20

oh just very quickly, S's godfather's 11 year old son has asked to friend me on FB, he is a lovely boy (and would make a very good husband for S... Wink) but I clearly don't want to friend him, how do I say no without offending him?

Beans36 · 30/09/2011 11:36

JJ - I would ignore and then speak to him directly and say that you put personal stuff on there, so it's probably best if you aren't friends, but ask for his email address, then you can send him any photos if he wants to see them?

xx

Beans36 · 30/09/2011 11:49

I just found DD2 holding a china egg cup with a bit of a bite taken out of it. I found some bits of it on the floor, but am worried she has swallowed some of it. Should I take her to the doctor? She seems fine, and is tucking into her eggy bread happily, but I am a bit nervous. Eek!

JamInMyWellies · 30/09/2011 12:17

It will come out in her poo Beans. Clearly she may not like your cooking but a bit of china goes down a treat Grin

JJ hurrah for some sleep. They must all realise we are fed up of it as DS2 notorious for his sleeping slept unitl 7.30 Shock this morning. Thats the latest he has ever slept.

I have millions of bulbs to plant and loads of winter violas and pansy for my tubs seems a but strange doing it when I am wearing flip flops a summer dress and its 26 degrees outside.

Beans36 · 30/09/2011 13:09

Thanks Jam - am not overly worried. She's gone off to snoozeville very nicely.

Taking DD1 to ballet this afternoon. She is very excited. It's £8 per lesson, though, which is pretty steep for half an hour. Hmmm. If she likes it, I feel I ought to sign up for a term, but it it quite a lot of wonga. Tomorrow, off to the safari park! Woohooooo! Then MIL coming on Sunday afternoon and on Monday, she's having DD2 for the day while I take DD1 to the aquarium. So exciting!

I have just cooked a sausage casserole for our supper on Sunday night. I keep on cooking wintry meals as it's October tomorrow! But it's so bright and sunny. I am actually sweating while doing nothing!!! Ho hum.

ZuleikaJambiere · 30/09/2011 13:49

Beans a child my Mum once looked after swallowed a coin, which is obviously quite large. Mum fed her cotton wool and honey sandwiches, and apparently the cotton wool wrapped itself around the coin so it didn't hurt on the way out. Something (rather disgusting sounding) to try if you're worried about sharp edges?

I am working on my promised catch up - will post it one day (beware, 'tis an essay!)

EffiePerine · 30/09/2011 15:15

Jam: you have reminded me that there is stuff to do in the garden before its usual winter neglect.

SummerLightning · 30/09/2011 16:23

Hello,
Quick one from me as have been neglecting DCs all day but feeling v unmotivated to do anything. Feeling quite pissed off as DH has been away for 10 days, my parents were meant to be staying all week but decided to bugger off to help my SIL this morning, so I have organised nothing to do, and DH has e-mailed me to say "Oh might miss my connection so not be back until mid-afternoon tomorrow", fucking great you could have figured that out earlier. Thanks. I am sick of being on my own with them, especially bloody DS and his shit attempt at toilet training, I am getting seriously fed up with it now, nursery say he is doing really well, but I don't consider still almost never going to teh potty of his own accord after two weeks doing well. And he will happily have poo accidents as well as wee ones, which are obviously grim. I just want to give up as it's fucking tedious, he will reliably wee on the potty if I ask him to and goes a reasonable amount of time between but that's not much use with having a normal life, basically unless you force him onto the potty or he vaguely needs a wee when you ask and he's NOT engrossed in something else he will go of his own accord, otherwise he needs to be coerced and will deny he needs a wee as he wants to keep playing then will just have a wee where he stands 5 minutes later. And he really doesn't care if he has accidents.

Oh I had loads of personals stuff to say but now I am just annoyed and fed up.

going back ages, AAAAA, I would not have been able to resist reading the diaries, but sounds like a good idea not to read any more. I think lady's point about writing more low points in diaries is a good one though. I am not a fan of pot either, it makes me giggly and unable to speak and then paranoid about the fact I can't speak.

Oh lady you asked about DS's eating, savoury repertoire is now bread, cheese, houmous, pasta and pesto, plain or cheesy pasta, fish fingers, salmon and occasionally plain chicken. that's about it! Have given up caring though. But he eats fruit and yoghurt and cake, etc too. DD still a pig.

JJ hurrah on the sleep. That is great. DH and I have had similar arguments to you in the middle of the night. Anything except leaving them to scream indefinitely is defined as "hippy parenting" so infuriating, and DH can also sleep through them screaming as well, so he'd go "oh I can't get her to settle down, I'll just have to leave her". ARGHGHGHGHG! Beating with a rolling pin's too good for them. JJ tricky one on the godson. Maybe you could just ignore and say you don't use it that much? Or could you add him and then add him to a limited view list or something, or is that too complicated. I am friends with my friend's daughters on there though, they are 14 and 13, and I just don't worry about it too much. They don't have post some crap though! Isn't 10 a bit young to be on facebook?

Oh and vag going back a bit I loved you thrashing snobby supposedly fit woman on your bike with both kids in tow! Awesome.

trace Great North Run sounds good, I did it ages ago pre kids, maybe I should come and join you! (and the vagmeister). I do agree exercise is good for mood, you have to keep it up though or you get in a bad mood you are not doing exercise and then as you are in a bad mood you don't want to - arghghghghg! Not that I am comparing bad moods to proper depression if you see what I mean. Gah, sorry if that all sounds like nonsense.

Poor E, I have been ignoring him so had better go. (dd asleep)

lady hope d had a happy birthday and you get the allergy thing sorted out soon...

ZuleikaJambiere · 30/09/2011 17:22

Feel I ought to add that the cotton wool sandwich was taught in nanny school in the late 60s/early 70s - I bet it isn't anymore!!
