MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 03/10/2011 17:13

Maybe dh. But sometimes they take a while to adjust so just play it by ear.

I totally know what you mean tsc - I spend absolutely fuck all on myself. Not a bean. Unless you count 'food' as spending money on myself. I thought you had a joint account for some reason. Wouldn't he agree to one? Then he couldn't not tell you how much money he had. I absolutley know what you mean about another child - my ex was exactly the same. I hated it. By the time we split up it felt like he wanted me to be his girlfriend in the bedroom but to mother him in every other aspect of his life. No thanks. I love that dh is 'in charge' of the finances tbh.

Vik easycook would totally be up your street! You should have a flick next time you're at the supermarket. It's only £2.90 which isn't bad imo.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 03/10/2011 17:29

Wooooooohhooooooo

What was I just saying about spending nothing on myself? I filled in a questionnaire in that the University I did my Masters at sent me a while ago and thought no more about it. I have just had a phonecall to say I won the prize of £100 M&S vouchers Grin Yaaaay! And I will be spending at least some of them on myself Grin

DesperateHousewife21 · 03/10/2011 19:41

Wow! Congrats mlisc that's great news! I filled out one for tesco the other week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that. I don't know what I'd spend £100 of m&s vouchers on as I never shop in there! Do you know what you're going to buy?

D went down within 20 mins tonight so it's def been a better day for sleep, just hope it's a good night to top it off.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 03/10/2011 19:52

I don't know to be honest dh, but I do like their clothes [old before her time emoticon]

My mam just made me promise not to spend it on food Grin

CakeandRoses · 03/10/2011 20:20

hey all - i am reading but feeling quite jaded at the mo as the Lady has given up sleeping in most positions/locations other than propped up on me in our bed Hmm due to her 4th molar coming in v v v v slowly.

will post more when feeling more cheery

Dylthan · 03/10/2011 20:29

Congratulations mlisc! :o

The christening is this Sunday with mil's birthday party on the saturday so its going to be an action packed and stressful weekend with an 8hr car journey to get down there thrown In for good measure.

We've salvaged our ancient cake out of the fridge and dh cut away a bit of the base and ate it yesterday. He's still alive and well today so that's good enough for me I'll just pass around the cake with a to be eaten at your own risk warning :o

I've finally plucked up the courage to talk to a doctor about how I've been feeling. I've changed doctors surgerys because I didn't feel comfortable talking to any of the doctors at my old surgery. The appointment is on Thursday and I'm dreading it :(

Dylthan · 03/10/2011 20:34

Wow cake 4th molar [faints] B still only has two teeth.

However she does beat lady A hands down in the hair contest Wink

I can't believe you are going to be 40 Shock have you got any plans for the big day?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 03/10/2011 20:37

That's excellent Dylth. Why not write it down and then even if you're feeling good that day/don't want to talk about it, they can read it and then start the discussion.

Glad you're happy about the cake too :)

It's my very good friend's son's birthday (ds1's best friend) on Thursday too cake so I'll never forget your birthday!

Woodlands · 03/10/2011 22:20

well done mlisc!

dylthan, i meant to say before, we served the top tier of our wedding cake at J's christening a couple of months ago. It was four years old. I took all the old icing off and redid it with marzipan and royal icing. I injected the base with some whisky but it was still pretty dry. Edible though. Some of it got eaten but mostly people ate his chocolate birthday cake! Hope it goes well on Sunday.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/10/2011 07:39

Judging by my friends and family, most people I know don't like fruit cake anyway. I'm going to make a Christmas Cake for the first time ever this year because my Nana used to and noone took over when she died, but I know there'll only be a few people who'll eat it.

I also had our top tier, but our wedding cake was bottom tier fruit, next sponge, then chocolate, then sponge. So our top teir was simply frozen and defrosted for ds1's Christening with no probs [cheat emoticon]

I got 8 hours sleep last night! I was restless at one point but no children were up. ds1 up at 7:10am and ds2 still in bed!

No plans for today other than a visit to a card shop - I still haven't written my thank you cards What's everyone else up to?

Chulita · 04/10/2011 08:18

We're all a bit quiet at the mo aren't we!

I never quite 'got' the keeping your cake til the first christening thing, I thought you kept it to celebrate your first anniversary...either way our cake was so delicious there was no way I was going to let it dry out :)

Lovely long sleep mlisc! I'm grateful that since buying L an overpriced training clock she usually stays in bed til it goes green. I'm slowly increasing the time to 7am which is when S has given up singing in bed and starts wailing.

S's latest thing is bringing a book over, clambering on my knee and getting me to read it over, and over and over again. He tries it with L but she's not quite so fond of having him sat on her!

Hope you get a bit more sleep soon cake (decides not to ask how Lady A got used to falling asleep on cake's warm bosom in the first place for fear of sparking off something she might regret)

S isn't saying much, maybe 8 recognisable (badly pronounced) words but he's got about 20 signs going and is picking up a couple a week at the moment, very cute. He's also a whizz with a spoon/fork, scoops for Britain which amazes me cos it took L aaaaages to get the hang of it.

dylthan I think mlisc's suggestion is a good one, hope you find some courage to get on and go - fingers crossed for a friendly doctor!

WhatSheSaid · 04/10/2011 08:44

I don't like fruit cake, mince pies or christmas pudding mlisc - we never have any of them at Christmas. I like the marzipan and icing though but you can't just have them, can you...

Getting G's 15 month jabs (your 12 month ones, done at 15 months here) and A's 4 year old ones done in the same appt next week. A will be 3 weeks off turning 4 but I want her to get her MMR booster, the measles outbreak is still going on here, over 250 cases in the city I'm in.

Not much news except that A has made 2 friends at pre-school and is so much happier there. G is absolutely nuts at the moment - emptying out drawers, chucking everything in the bin, just generally wrecking the joint. She has learnt to blow kisses and does it when she thinks she's in trouble - in a kind of "Aw, don't be angry with me, look how cute I am" way.

memphis83 · 04/10/2011 09:37

stac not sure why I would sylk until 2015, just semed like a good round number! Grin
mlic where was that cookbook from? Oh and after a week of dvd or loads of excersize people are already saying my body is changing! DH was in your area yesterday but had to be onsite at 7am and off by 10am so didnt think you would weant a visitor that early!
tsc shit birthday cake?.....Ive seen the photo and think it looks amazing! well done you! Can see why your pissed off with dp, would drive me potty, It annoys me enough that dh spends more than he needs in the first week after payday,He offered last month for me to take over finances but I dont want to deal with his as well!

Well dh seems excited about the house now, maybe its because the bills will be cheaper, the rent is £100 a month cheaper than they usually are in the area due to mates rates too, just waiting on friend to get back to me on viewing day, she is a bit slow at replying! We are staying in the house today doing jobs, apart from my daily walk!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/10/2011 11:30

Ooo it sounds promising memph! Fingers crossed for you wrt the house. And well done for keeping up with the dvd - it's easier to find the motivation when you see it starting to work isn't it! I'll be doing it again today when babyboy goes down for his nap. Ah it's such a shame you couldn't have come to visit memphis it would have been lovely! Have you booked C yet? It's not a cookbook it's just a magazine that comes out every couple of months. I subscribe to it but wish I had chosen 'good food' instead of 'easycook' as things really are a bit too simple for me iyswim. And I find it quite 'meat heavy' and not the sort of things I could sub with quorn.

Been to shops, walked the dogs. Now to start the thank you cards.

I am very happy today - I decided last night to make my first Christmas cake this year. I wanted my Nana's recipe but didn't think nayone had it. Anyway, long story short is my Aunt has it, so she's sending me it - I nearly cried when she said she had it. My Nana was the best :)

Speaking of cake - I agree tsc it looks great! I am planning on making ds1's birthday cake this year too - I just can't decide whether to take it with us to CP or just leave it here as it is the last day of our holiday so we'll be travelling home that day. I'm veering towards leaving it here. will it be ok if I make it on the Sunday and we have it on the Friday folks?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/10/2011 11:33

Oh and forgot to ask how the morning noon and night sickness is chulita? Are you feeling any better apart from the exhaustion?

All ds2 says is
Go
There you go (ere go)
Hiya (even when he mean bye Confused)
Night night (nigh nigh)

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/10/2011 11:35

Oh and how did I forget 'no'? He says it a million times a day a lot.
And yes. Far less often though, everything is 'no' Grin

Chulita · 04/10/2011 12:41

Still sick but down to mostly nausea with the odd extra bit every couple of days. Should be easing up soon I hope...

S's favourite word is 'no' said more like 'naaaaaa' for everything. You can tell when he actually means 'yes' because he gets a panicked look on his face as if to say 'I'm trying to say yes but my mouth only says no but I still want a biscuit so don't put that tin away'

If you ice it with rolling icing rather than buttercream it would be fine for a week I'd reckon.

L keeps going on and on about going to school, I think she's ready. I just realised that when I filled in the forms for her to go to the place I didn't think she'd get into I asked for 5 mornings which is 9-11...I might try and take a day off and spread those two hours out a bit. 2 hours seems a bit pointless.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/10/2011 13:03

2hrs seems a little strange. ds1 will do 8.30 - 11.30 Mon to Fri from January. You are entitled to 15hrs a week, I wonder why they only offer 10hrs Confused

Yes, I was planning on icing it. It'll be my first ever attempt!

Chulita · 04/10/2011 13:19

She's in for 'lunch' two days a week, and just the mornings for the other three but I'm going to need to ring them and double check (fingers crossed they can re-jig, they always seem so full).
Good luck with the cake, I'm thinking of doing Bedtime Bear with rolly icing for L's b-day and I'm not quite sure how to go about it.

memphis83 · 04/10/2011 14:03

mlic look on youtube for tips on icing a cake. We havent booked cp, DH has said we cant go if we move as if we move we need to buy fridge, freezer, oven sofas, wardobes and drawers if we move as the sofas are with the house and all the bedroom storage is intergrated, bit scary as I wouldnt even know where to start with the bedroom furniture, where to go to get cheaper stuff that wont fall apart as soon as I put a t-shirt in it!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 04/10/2011 14:09

That's fair enough memph, it is expensive to move.

I've just done all the photos to sell my iCandy Peach Blossom. I feel a bit sad about it really - it has been such a good buggy and I hate using the McLaren stroller but it cost soooo much money I can't justify keeping it longer and it's resale value having fallen, just so I can use it as a single buggy :(

Ah well, I'll list it tonight so that people can bid on it after work/when children are in bed. I hope I get a decent amount for it! I'll put a £400 reserve I think.

Chulita · 04/10/2011 19:19

What's a sofa oven memphis? Grin

Good luck with your buggy mlisc, I have no luck on ebay.

L has been a little angel today, I've hardly had to tell her off at all and she's just been cuddly and really lovely to S, all kisses and cuddles - gorgeous!

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/10/2011 19:53

Chulita- D does the book thing too, we've only got about 5 books so it gets v boring!

He only had one nap again today but it was only 40 mins so he was knackered this afternoon, I pushed him around in the buggy for an hour but he was just talking to himself and I didn't want him having a nap at 4.

I'm taking him to the zoo tomorrow with my friend so thatll be good he can do lots of walking and tire himself out!

Chulita · 04/10/2011 21:02

I'm not sure how but we have hundreds of books...most of which I don't particularly like Hmm but he always picks either "the three little pigs" or " the little gingerbread man" which, thankfully, I can stand 10-15 times in a row!

D certainly has odd nap habits doesn't he!?! S usually has 2-2.5 hours at lunch and sometimes a 1 hour nap in the morning, long live the lunchtime nap!

viksam · 04/10/2011 22:17

mylife wicked about the vouchers, i think M&S has some lovely clothes right now, good mix and match stuff, im usually a H&M girl but i could easily get rid of £100 at M&S!
TSC WHAT.............the roses reforming, i thought they said they would never do it after spike island, Hmmmmm glasto 1213 might be the one then! sen as its only down the road it would be rude not to go! haha.
chu does he sit still for a whole story!?! D cant unless theres a flap to lift or some hair to touch or whatever. S sounds great with his spoon and fork, i need to get D going a bit better with his. I gave him his milk in a cup agin this morning but he didnt drink it this time, weird.
mylife so ur icandy, what does it consist of? I have a seat and a carrycot but cant put them on at the same time so would have to buy the expensive adaptor and the different carry cot to do it, did u use it as a double then?
cake hope ur feeling a little less jaded, whats ur plans for ur birthday? Hope Lady A is more settled and gives u a break! Poor girl.
Im soooooooo tired, what the hell am i doing up???
