ds practises his walking by trotting over to me for a cuddle, so cute, and if I kiss him he kisses me back now Grin it is rather a dribbly snotty kiss though

Hope your evening got better hj

mock bonkers at how difficult they are making it for you to register at the gp.

Got the in laws here, they're lovely but work is busy and all I want to do at the end of the day is cuddle ds to sleep and then go to bed myself.

NoHunIntended · 26/10/2011 23:29

HJ, hope your evening picked up.

Mock, we let him snuggle in. And we chuckle a bit! I just love the cuddles so much. He kisses a lot too, I feel very blessed. We do open arms and say 'come here for a cuddle', and he runs over, giggling. Just lovely.

tf, how long are your ILs there for?

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 27/10/2011 19:32

DD puts her hands up in the air and smiles with her eyes shut whilst making the sign for cuddle which is opening and closing her fists but won't cuddle static....except I arrived at the cm earlier and DD was sat on the sofa having a cuddle!!! [henvy]

HarrietJones · 27/10/2011 20:32

Got a bit better last night but had a melt down this am & did us out if a day out :( had to tell big dds off & I just got upset. Dh calmed me down & we did some shopping & Garden etc but I'm v on edge.
I'm also full of cold which didn't help.

floozietoozie · 27/10/2011 22:48

HJ hope you are feeling better. Here's a Brew, or maybe a Wine would be more appropriate.

Cuddles are lovely. DD snuggles her head down into me much more now. Sadly, bfing ended just after I went back to work, as she pointblank refused to latch on any more Sad - not surprising I suppose as there was not much there but I thought we both liked the comfort factor. So the snuggly cuddles are great. Ds keeps saying he wants another baby.... a brother this time.

I have placed my first ever eBay big tonight, for some re-usable nappies. Clearly, I have the bug too. I have the 10 I bought new, and a friend has given me five more, but those ones don't seem very good, unlike my own ones which I'm really so pleased with. So I'm bidding for more of the same but second-hand. Mine are bamboo Close Parent Pop-Ins. What are you lot using? Also, the instructions say no biological detergent - is that really necessary or is it just an ideological thing, does anyone know? Do you all use non-bio on yours?

NoHunIntended · 27/10/2011 23:32

Aw, HJ. Hope you are ok.

mock, hope you get static cuddles soon!

ft, welcome to the nappy bug! :) My favourite are Tots Bots Easyfit. Well, my bespoke Holden's Landing are my best, but they are a bit pricier. We use EcoBalls for laundering, so I don't really know about bio/non-bio. I think not to use fabric conditioner though, as it decreases absorbency.
DS turned the washing machine on today - turned a dial, and pressed a button! He was shocked when it lurched into noisy action, and came scampering over to me, I was very amused!

HarrietJones · 28/10/2011 15:57

Dd3 loves working the Hoover. She likes taking stuff out of the washer & loading it.

Bit better today. Weird thing this week is I'm doing really well at work but not at home. I've the biggest case load at the moment despite being part time. Some are the easier cases though! They've realised I need to be busy so are loading me up.

tiredfeet · 29/10/2011 13:35

ft I love easyfit by tots bots and bumgenius. I didnt get on with the close parent ones, took forever to dry and seemed really leaky. but I think it depends on the baby.

in laws have finally gone, they are lovely but rather draining as they are so besotted by ds! I guess thats good though! Also we do baby led weaning type feeding, i.e. ds mainly feeds himself whatever we are having, but mil was having kittens over it. she couldn't help making comments about 'puree' the whole time. she was a bit shocked when he devoured a whole big bread roll. up till now we haven't had these issues, and I'm struggling with being criticised by her, especially over eating as I need meal times as stress free as possible (as ds has allergies and I was anorexic for a bit), I have been really relaxed about it all up till now and really enjoyed weaning and now she has got me all wound up and doubting myself Sad silly really as I have discussed feeding ds tons with his specialist and dietitian, and they are totally happy with what I'm doing and the types of meals he had.

had a lovely day today though, been on a little pink ferry with ds, across the river, and played a very boisterous game of hide and seek with him, so funny! and dh has made allergy-proofed pumpkin pie and it tastes really great Smile

glad things are a bit better today hj

HarrietJones · 29/10/2011 16:26

Had a rough evening yesterday. Dh was at work and usually texts me constantly. Nothing last night & I was all panicky until he cane in at 11:45pm. He had left his phone in the car.

Having Internet trouble here keep losing certain sites/not loading/v slow. MN v slow last night & only a little better today.
Now the DVD player has crashed on me too. It's stripy & won't do anything ( like eject the love film disc!)

tiredfeet · 29/10/2011 19:57

sorry to hear about yesterday hj I expect he won't do that again now!

TribbleToilandTrouble · 29/10/2011 20:41

ft you can use bold two in one on reusables as it's clay based rather than something other based, otherwise a bit of White vinegar in the softener drawer works as well. As to what I use, I think it's more of a question of what don't I use. I like trying new things.

Well ds is one now, it went well. We went to a soft play, we ate cake and I blubed. All in all a good day!

I've seen a plan toys doll house on eBay, I'm pondering if to get it for ds for Christmas. What do you think?

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 30/10/2011 10:24

Happy belated birthday to your DS Trib and I like your nn!

Sorry to hear about your anxious evening last night HJ

TF You're doing great, esp as your DS has allergies. Stick to your guns. Anyway BLW is so much easier for all concerned and at 12 months anyway I think most babies are beyond purees anyway so raspberries to your MIL.

DD slept yesterday until 1045 in the morning, catching up on the less sleep in her busy working week! Up at 0600 this morning- adjusted to GMT- and she got out of the wrong side of bed good and proper and was miserable for the first 2 hours not even wanted to bf for comfort (must be a tooth) until she got the opportunity to get into mischief emptying out one of the cupboards in the bathroom Smile. She's now catching some zzzs ready for more chaos and destruction.

Floozie I like pocket nappies and my favourite is baa baa and boo recommended by Trib although I found ones almost identical from tinynippers.com which are much cheaper and are great. DD is currently sporting their giraffe print one.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 30/10/2011 21:39

Hi I have nothing to report but lost the thread :o
Hope all is well :)

floozietoozie · 30/10/2011 22:37

tiredfeet - sorry you had trouble with your MIL. There's no way on earth a one-year-old should be having purees. If she gets funny again, tell her they need solid food to develop their muscles for speech, and will suffer if they don't have it. Hope you don't feel down over it. Negative reactions on baby stuff are really hard first time round. Second time round you know just to ignore everyone Grin.

Happy birthday baby Trib. Thanks for the advice on washing. I have my non-bio now but did wonder. Also, it advises not to use vinegar, again I don't know why really. Anyway, I'm bumbling through. Dd has started being really difficult on the changing table now which does not help when trying to apply nappy with the flushable liner in the right place! That reminds me, any suggestions of cheap places to buy them?

I'm going away for the weekend next week and am looking at travel stair gates to buy. Rather stupidly, I went for accommodation which has the living area upstairs... dd is now fascinated with stairs and just wants to be near them all the time. So I'm hoping the stair gate is quite robust otherwise she's going to be in the high chair a LOT!

NoHunIntended · 30/10/2011 22:39

:o Nor me! Still here though!

NoHunIntended · 30/10/2011 22:45

X-p! Where are you off to, ft? DS loves stairs. Is keeping me fit!

Do you change DD's nappy with her under a mobile? DS is a wriggler too, but if I am desperate, I use the mobile to distract him. Or I give him something to hold - usually a cloth wetwipe. Seems to like eating those.

tiredfeet · 31/10/2011 20:04

Thanks ft Smile feeling aa bit better now but dreading christmas, which is sad as they are lovely. I may have to say something to her, but hate confrontation!

Where are you heading ft? Have you checked they don't have stairgates you could hire?

Ds loves chewing cloth wet wipes too, especially when he'4 teething

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 31/10/2011 21:12

DD is fascinated by her nappies, so she holds one whilst I change her with another. It doesn't always work.

floozietoozie · 31/10/2011 22:52

It's a very recent thing - usually something to chew will keep her happy, but she's just decided turning over is more fun! She does like to remove the wipes if I let her but I don't want her chewing them so not ideal.

I'm going here with friends. Really looking forward to it. I got a new (to us) car a few weeks ago and this will be the first long journey in it - I have to say I'm a bit in love with it right now so I'm quite looking forward to the drive as well. Dp's not coming though so I will be relying on the people I'm sharing with for a bit of help. Fortunately they only have one son the same age as Ds. There are two other couples as well in another lodge, both with two kids each, so it will be quite busy! I just hope the children (mine I mean) will have ok nights. I've had a few pretty disturbed ones recently so will be grateful for uninterrupted sleep while away.

Oh yes, happy Halloween [hsmile] [hsmile] [hgrin].

DillyDora · 01/11/2011 14:52

Hello! I think I recognise some names on here from when we were waiting for our babies to be born! I haven't been on mumsnet in aaaaaaaaaages, but my nickname is still the same. DS was born October 18th last year so just turned one. Congratulations to all the other 1 year olds. How are you all, Mums?!!!!

NoHunIntended · 01/11/2011 16:47

Dilly! How fabulous to hear from you! Happy belated Birthday to your DS. Did you have a nice day?
A few names changes here, and not many of us left! Will you stick around or were you just popping by on a flying visit? Hope all is well.

All good here, loving motherhood very much!

tiredfeet · 01/11/2011 19:55

Hello dilly! Lovely to hear from you! Was wondering how you were getting on. Happy birthday to your ds, I hope he enjoyed celebrating!

Hello dilly! Lovely to hear from you! Was wondering how you were getting on. Happy birthday to your ds, I hope he enjoyed celebrating!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 01/11/2011 20:28

Hi dilly! How are you?!

I've had a hectic month and hardly been on MN either-and now tonight dd is throwing up so it's another busy day Grin good to read all your news...we are finally beginning to loose the newborn haze-we definately have a toddler and a preschooler in the house now!! Dd is a stroppy madam some days :)

DillyDora · 02/11/2011 10:08

Hi hi! We're fine. DS is brilliant. I will try to stay on this thread (cue A-ha song....Stay on these Rooooooooaaaaads....ahem Blush) to hear all about you. DS had a lovely birthday. We had family round on the nearest Sunday which he thought was great - gave everyone a round of applause when they sang him happy birthday. Sleep is....challenging though he's going through the night now, long may it last (it won't) but everything else is lovely.

I have to say I have no idea how anyone manages with more than one child though, sorry, but I am just in awe... do you never sleep?!
