Thanks for the list NoHun.

Tribble, I got DS a kitchen for I think his second Christmas or birthday (they're only two weeks apart anyway) and he LOVED it. He had always played with them over any other toys when we went anywhere with one. Needless to say, nearly three years on it doesn't get a look in now (the vehicles took over - sigh) but I'm hoping for a new lease of life when dd is old enough to appreciate it. She has gummed the toy foodstuffs a bit Grin. Also, you should go for it with the midwifery. I believe I'm right in saying you still get an NHS bursary for it - do it now in case they take that away too in future!! Glad you're off for now.

It's been interesting looking at all your pictures and seeing if my imaginings match what you really look like. I've got it fairly right with some of you at least...

TribbleWithoutACause · 30/09/2011 08:03

Floozie Did I look as glam as you thought I would [grins].

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 30/09/2011 08:36

I was mostly right about images apart from Seashells who I was convinced would have dark hair!

busyprocrastinating · 30/09/2011 09:45

I was really surprised at how young everyone looked!
I've been at work two hours and it feels like forever. Mil was supposed to be having dd today so my sil has got her. She hasn't been looked after by her before so hoping she's ok. She will have her little cousin to play with so sure she will be fine. Sil on the other hand might not be. She worked 4-9 an and now she has two Los for the day.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 30/09/2011 12:25

Hi everyone! Having a busy day here and about to head to the beach after lunchtime naps :) floozie its lovely to "see" you on fb, I have to say I got most people wrong ish, but then I always imagine caricatures based on people's names, so AbFab will always look like patsy to me (couldn't be further from the truth) and Nymphadora will alway look like the imagine I had of her when reading the books (ie not a normal human being Grin)....as you can tell, I haven't een updated to include new name changes-I'm useless!!

NoHunIntended · 30/09/2011 13:11

Ooh, Trib, you'd make a great midwife!

DS doesn't need a toy kitchen - he messes about in mine well enough. Especially the washing machine - he is frequently fiddling with the dials and buttons.

Lol at Ab Fab - I never actually saw an episode, but am familiar enough with the characters. Yes, not very me at all! :)

I only put the ok photos on Fb - mainly I look a mess!
I enjoy seeing what you and your little ones are up to.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 30/09/2011 15:38

ok photos?! You look great NoHun!

NoHunIntended · 30/09/2011 18:53

Aw shucks, Mock. .

HarrietJones · 30/09/2011 19:15

Ordered our next car seat on Wed pm & it arrived this morning. Fully set up to go! Very happy with the car seat people at Milton Keynes. No charge for postage which is good considering how much the seats are. The box is very popular too, we've all been in it!

tiredfeet · 30/09/2011 20:08

I think most of you are roughly how I imagined you, but mock for some reason I imagined you being sort of big and solid looking Blush and in fact you're really dainty and pretty

bp I hope your little one managed ok today?

Ds took 20 steps in a row today! He has been doing 3-5 on his own since August, and then this afternoon he just suddenly started walking a further and further each time. He has two very proud parents! Am thinking this weekend may be spent doing phase two of baby proofing...

TribbleWithoutACause · 30/09/2011 20:20

HJ Oh did you go for the TWE then? I think we're about to take the plunge, I did go to Halfords and the local baby shop here but still didn't feel too confident about the choices they offered me. Also shock of all shocks the local baby shop are experimenting with extended rear facing seats.

HarrietJones · 30/09/2011 21:03

Are they? I never even thought of going there for a seat! I've replied to you on FB but we haven't fitted it yet.

HarrietJones · 30/09/2011 21:04

Congrats to tiredfeets ds & hope bps dd & mil were ok today

busyprocrastinating · 30/09/2011 22:35

Dd had a lovely time with SIL although came back with a black eye as she was having a tug of war with her little cousin over the baby wipes! and fell down onto something. She doesn't seem bothered I think SIL was more upset by bringing her back damaged.
MIL was very lucky by all accounts and is recovering.
Am celebrating as DD fell asleep at 9pm Smile was especially good as my friend was round who is very heavily pregnant and tonight was probably the last chance of a chat before she enters the newborn haze.
Envy of you on the beach sea
Well done tired's DS
Trib shush time in the cot doesn't work as she screams as soon as I put her in it but she will quietly play in her walker- just hope she doesn't figure out it moves.

NoHunIntended · 02/10/2011 11:42

Good news re MIL, bp.

And hope DD's black eye isn't too bad.

Hope you are all enjoying the sunny weekend. Hope it lasts for DS's birthday next week, so we can picnic in the park.

HarrietJones · 02/10/2011 15:11

Sun finished last night here. Hoping for a dry day thurs or Friday so we can put a tent in the garden for the big kids to play in. Got 3 11 year olds, 1x 10,2x 9,1x8,1x7& 1x6. At least 4 are hyper ones. Plus a couple of 1 year olds!

NoHunIntended · 03/10/2011 12:49

Sounds very busy, HJ!
We had a lovely lazy day, went to my mum's, and DS splashed about in the paddling pool. What a gorgeous sunny weekend!

floozietoozie · 03/10/2011 22:00

Wasn't it amazing? I was on the beach Saturday and Sunday, for six hours on Saturday with two different sets of friends - picnic with one lot, barbecue with the next, then we all, DS included, went in the sea at about 6.15pm. On October 1st! In Britain! On Sunday, had a shorter stay but went in the sea for longer. It's just been surreal.

I've just taken the plunge and ordered some reusable nappies. I'm a bit late to the party really. I've just given my friend back the ones she lent me. I haven't used them for months now, but I got an offer through the NCT for some so I've ordered 10 and am going to see how I get on in the next week then may order more. Can I just ask all the experts on this, exactly how do you deal with yours? Ie, do they go in a bucket to soak, do you just put tea tree oil or something in a bucket and then wash them - could somebody give me an idiot's guide to using them properly? They're bamboo if that makes any difference. I know they will take longer to dry than some others and that is a bit of a concern now that the sun is going and I have no tumble dryer or airing cupboard. I am wondering if I'm mad as dd pooed five times today and usually produces at least three....

busyprocrastinating · 04/10/2011 10:36

Sounds crazy, but fun, hj
Sounds like you had fun on the beach floozie. Am not jealous at all Envy
Well mil came home yesterday and then a couple of hours later got rushed back in. As they were taking her in to the hospital fil got wheeled in behind her ( they're divorced) and he's had an heart attack as well. Can't believe it. Poor dh. He's gone off to work and I had a message from step fil to call but I can't get hold of anyone!

MonsterBookOfTysons · 04/10/2011 20:48

Floozie I use disposable, mainly due to not affording a bulk in one go, buying a £4 pack of morrisons is in our budget Blush
Dd's birthday went well in the end, cant believe I have a one year old. She seems different now too, a more delicate featured face. She is appearing more girly
She was bought so many lovely presents that I truly can't think of what to put on her christmas list Grin
Yippee I can now get excited over christmas Grin

ft, well done on the cloth nappies. 10 without a tumble drier/airer/airing cupboard may mean you are using disposables and cloth, so you can ease yourself in.
DS doesn't usually mess a nappy - we have been doing ECing from the early days, and he is quite good at doing his business there - on the odd occasion I get a messy nappy, I rinse off the bulk under a tap, then chuck it in the washing machine. He usually only goes once a day! I am lucky! :) The ones that have wee on just go in a dry pail until I am ready to wash them. I have this to help with the drying: www.lakeland.co.uk/21736/Dry-Soon-Heated-Tower-Dryer. Saves putting the heating on. Works a treat, though it does take up valuable space.

bp, bad news about the ILs. I hope they both make a good recovery. Sad we are getting to that age now.

Ty, happy birthday to your girl! DS is one on Sunday, I will then accept that he is my little boy, and not such a baby. Ach, he'll always be my baby.

I am sooooo excited for Christmas too, though I think next year is the one when he'll understand more and be excited himself.

HarrietJones · 06/10/2011 14:47

Dd3 birthday tomorrow. But she's poorly:( bot slept much all week & v hot last night & clingy today :( not sure if it's cold/ teeth or something else

NoHunIntended · 06/10/2011 22:38

Aw, Harry, hope DD is better for tomorrow. DS is extra cuddly right now, and is teething again - I can just see tooth number six trying to break through. Birthday on Sunday, hope he is not being niggled by teething.

I made his cake today. Will decorate tomorrow.

busyprocrastinating · 07/10/2011 06:44

Happy birthday for your dd3 hj. Hope she's feeling better.
Has anyone else got a little biter? Dd often bites us and we just say no and ouch and sit her away from us (though to be fair she laughs) but I always thought she didn't realise she was hurting until she bit a little boy at sign because he was annoying her Blush any ideas?
Nohun I'm excited for Christmas too but I know what you mean about next year been the one which will be really fun.

HarrietJones · 07/10/2011 08:58

BP- just moving her away & saying no. Can't say it worked withdd2 but nothing did.

Dd3 has ear infection& antibiotics. Bit brighter for her presents but flat out now. Getting meds in isn't easy though
