Welcome to our cosy, new thread.

Where's the bunk cots?

I've just joined that thread Blush I'm not quite in their league but we are moving into the large pan zone , pasta for 5 is quite a lot now!

tiredfeet · 01/09/2011 19:25

You can have my twin vibes too nohun Smile as I am pretty sure I only want one more, unless the next one is one of those babies that actually sleeps...

Dh away in norway for the weekend and I haven't been organised and made plans to see anyone, so it might be just me and ds for three days. It will be nice to have some quiet time but in the evenings the house feels too quiet. I have so much respect for you mock managing to do this forr months on end. Has your dh managed to be in touch much?

Smile Trib.

Loving the bunk cots- what a good idea! The lack of back strain is the best thing! NoHun are you planning to get a superking bed or have a room thats just cosy massive mattress with lots of cushions and pillows

Thanks TF yes he's managed to call but he still hasn't been able to sort out internet access as the man that sells it is never there. He has skyped twice as they have the facility in his office but not exactly private and the office (I use the term loosely-its a kind of lean-to shack) is filled with people and is rather noisy. One person he works with is a female Dutch para who got badly injured in Iraq and has bionic hips. She's also lost her only child and fiance in a car crash. When he mentioned that she plans to have her mid-tour break at the beginning of October all I could think of was her going back to an empty house Sad.

I hope you have a nice time with your DS. When DD isn't full of the pox, we like cafe culture when we're on our own. DD shamelessly gazes at people and is particularly enthralled with sophisticated looking teenage girls!

busyprocrastinating · 01/09/2011 21:00

Oo reading that thread has made me determined to persuade dh we need lots of kids!

Glad dh is managing to keep in touch mock and what a terrible story about the woman Sad it really makes you count your blessings doesn't it hearing what other people have suffered.

First day back at work has been ok (but that is probably because there were no students in) feeling better now but worried dd is coming down with it has she has just thrown up all over her cot.

My car is finally fixed (trying not to think of all the things we could have done with the money it has cost) so that's a weight off my mind.

Try and enjoy the peace and quiet tired whilst you are on your own.

NoHunIntended · 01/09/2011 22:04

Thanks for all the twin vibes!

I haven't read much of that thread yet - got side-tracked at the start by the blog of the mum of four boys and a girl - oh, just so wonderful. What a lucky lucky lady. I would LOVE that! Though I don't know that I'd be able to come up with three more boys' names I like as much as I like DS's name! I do have at least three perfect girls' names lined up, so maybe I need the back to front version of that lady - one boy and then four girls! I am sure I can come up with a fourth girls' name! :)

tf, hope you enjoy your few days of just you and your baby.

Mock we already have a large King, that I think would very easily fit another baby - if we get twins, I think we'll put a big crib on the side for DS, so he is still part of the bed. Triplets, I think we'd have to take over the living room with mattresses galore! Oh, I am loving that idea! :)

How awful for your DH's colleague. I just don't know how people cope. I actually think I'd not see the point of carrying on myself, and go to join them. :(

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 01/09/2011 22:18

You and me both NoHun. Would you mind saying what names you'd fancy?! Even though I am not going to have any more children I love thinking of names and have plenty to share if you need any extra inspiration! Grin.

TribbleWithoutACause · 02/09/2011 10:11

Oooo Mock what names do you have, I always like discussing names. I love names that are a bit different but not out there so much that people sort of look at you funny. Mind you, people have done that high pitched 'oh thats different' when I've told them DS's name.

Nohun Does your LO have a nickname? Seriously cool name though.

NoHunIntended · 02/09/2011 13:10

I'm sorry to disappoint, but I have sworn DH to secrecy with our potential babynames, so it wouldn't be fair to spill! :)
I can give you an idea of what I like though, that I have ruled out for various reasons:

  • Liberty. I LOVE this name, love how it sounds, love the meaning, love the nn Libby, or Berty if she's a tomboy, but apparently Liberty is a brand of sanitary towels, and that has put me off! I'm not actually aware of this brand, but since someone said it on the MN babyname board, it's made me discount it.
  • Cleopatra. Well, DH just said no, so that's that. Plus I don't like family to have the same initial, and DH's name starts with C.
  • Same for Calypso and Cadence, the C thing. But love the names!
- Harmony. Something I like about this, and I like the meaning (not just the musical connotations, but the peace/love vibe), but a) mony (moany!) at the end puts me off, and b) Harmony is also a sex shop here in London! So that's out, I think! Very happy to hear your suggestions! I will chuckle if you come up with something actually on our list!

We have a few on our boys' list that haven't been ruled out, but none yet that leap out at me as being THE ONE, that is as good (imho!) as DS's name.
I do like Mowgli, but as DS's name begins with M, that's out!
I like Tex, but DH said a stern NO!

Thanks, Trib. We call him a variety of NNs, trying to see what suits, and give him options, but I'd ideally like to leave it for him to choose.
I really like your DS's name too!
We have also had a few 'oh that's different', but we really really love his name, and think it suits him. It's had a pasting on the MN babyname board though! I didn't bother commenting, you can't please all of the people all of the time, and it would be a dull place if we all liked the same things.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 02/09/2011 13:29

I like:

Coralie
Autumn
Xanthe
Cairine (pronounced Careena)
Clarissa
Carrigan
Dido
Greta
India
Juliet

There's more but I'm picking a friend up from the train station soon so better get sorted...except DD is eating beans,,,one at a time with lots of finger sucking off the juice in between!

TribbleWithoutACause · 02/09/2011 14:55

Ok girls, I like classic sounding names. I love Elizabeth, it's one of my top two names for any little girl I have. It just sounds so nice and I like how many nicknames you can get out of it. I can imagine my child in her late 80's rocking out in the old folks home whilst wearing a purple beret and some sort of Dr Who themed scarf.

I also love Isabella and Bella, but a lot of people have it nowadays so I don't know if I would. DH loves Rebecca, I must admit it's growing on me.

As for boys, I like names like Jasper, Joash, Caleb and the like. I don't really come across many boys with names like that. When I was pregnant with DS I loved loved loved Joel and Reuben, but everyone I know has a DS called that at the moment.

Nohun Tex is pretty cool, I think as a family you could pull that off. It had a pasting, I think I must of missed that. How about Wyatt, thats pretty cool.

We could all go down the brand name route, Waitrosse, Tesco and Asda. You never know, we might get a discount. Grin

TribbleWithoutACause · 02/09/2011 14:58

Oh how about Tristen? Or Isolde?

busyprocrastinating · 02/09/2011 16:39

Ooo baby names. I spend more time thinking about them now than when I was pg Grin.
I told dh he wasn't allowed mowgli nohun
Love India off your list mock and the nickname Indy. But am slightly worried people might think we are just using place names!
At the moment my top two are alexia and Saul but they keep changing. Plus dh has said a firm no to Saul as people found here say 'our' xxx when talking about family so to be fair can servos point Grin but do love the name.

TribbleWithoutACause · 02/09/2011 17:17

Ok at what point do I cease trying to get in contact with a friend. I haven't spoken to her in a while, so I text her the other day; no reply. I've then tried ringing her at different points over the last few days, I've left a message; still no reply. I've now FB her and also tried ringing her again. If it was me, I'd have at least text back by now if someone was trying to get in touch with me.

Should I give her up as a lost cause? I may FB mutual friend to check if she's still alive.

TribbleWithoutACause · 02/09/2011 17:23

Well thats that, friend is still alive. I'll put it down to pre going back to school induced brain melt down and leave it for now.

HarrietJones · 02/09/2011 17:24

I'm not telling our girls name. It doesn't fit in with the others but was dh gggg grandma or something like that & is an old fashioned name that I've not heard before.flora is on my short list but dh says it margerine.
We didn't have a favourite boys name last time either.

Survived day 2( well half day) at work. Was busy so not too bad. V busy on Monday travelling the county.

SpringFlowers · 02/09/2011 18:35

I've done a week of work. Seven to go 'til half term and a load of weekend work too. I am tired but drinking champagne as dh has worked his last day at his current employer and is moving onto to bigger and more lucrative things. I love champagne... Hope everyone has a great weekend.

busyprocrastinating · 02/09/2011 20:55

trib I couldn't get hold of my friend for a month. We have known each other since toddler group and so was really worried as we are really close and had racked my brain to think if I had upset her and ended up concluding she must have died. Turns out she was pg and had been hospitalised with hyperemisis and then turned her phone off as she knew that if she had contact with me it would end up coming out and she didn't want to tell anyone till her 12 week scan especially as she had had such a rough start to the pg. She even admitted that she saw me on the street and hid! So maybe there is an explanation for your friend not getting in touch. As you have left a message I would wait for her to get back to you.
HJ am intrigued to hear the name now.
Spring I will be counting down the seven weeks with you Smile though so far am impressed with our shiney new school. Hope DH new job goes well.
Have got work to do myself so thought i would come on here whiislt I decide between getting on with that or doing the housework- what a choice on a Friday night! The in-laws have been babysitting today and managed to break the TV so can't even watch that.

NoHunIntended · 02/09/2011 22:48

No TV - oh no! We're trialling a LoveFilm package, and it's been ace!

Some nice names above! A couple close to what we would choose! But I am saying no more!!!

HarrietJones · 03/09/2011 07:49

We have lovefilm . Working our way through various series interspaced with films /kids stuff.

NoHunIntended · 03/09/2011 20:19

Us too. I like staying in and snuggling on the sofa.
Just got through www.stieglarsson.com/Millennium-series - awesome! I think I want a big dragon tattoo now! :)

TribbleWithoutACause · 03/09/2011 20:52

We've got lovefilm as well, its dhs new and bestest toy.

Does anyone else watch how I met your Mother? I'm watching it on e4, it's pretty good.

nohun did you see the rainbow tots that totsbots have brought out?

I've been having a couple of problems at work boob wise since I went back, I've had mastitus which has developed into thrush, the dream seems to be working though. My boobs don't like working, they seem to be much happier at home. Weirdness abounds eh.

tiredfeet · 03/09/2011 21:07

trib might her phone have died.

I love Liberty nohun. There's a boy at ds' nursery called Hunter, don't know why but I've decided I really love it. not sure ds would let me though, he's got quite conventional taste. For a girl I really wanted Rosalie this time, but still working on DH liking that one.

aww sad watching baby hospital and there's parents who lost their baby, its making me teary now. will make me hug ds a little bit closer when he wakees for the milliionth time tonight.

we didn't get our nice quiet day today! had three lots of unexpected visitors, a local friend in the morning, family in mid afternoon and then old uni friends later on. was lovely but I am soooo tired now.

Trib I really like how I met your mother.

HarrietJones · 03/09/2011 21:19

Im watching 'how I met your mother' .
I love Big Bang theory too. Best theme tune ever!

SpringFlowers · 03/09/2011 21:52

Funny thing here...when I cook and the food is too hot for R I have to blow on it which seems to be all the time at the moment. Well, when I breast feed her morning and bedtime she blows on my nipple first!!! It's the funniest thing!
