I've never heard of state of play.

Thanks Floozie I got some calamine yesterday and dabbed it on last night. I think it helped as she slept through until 0910! I always keep her nails dead short so she doesn't stab me with them. Being gouged in the boob with a nail is never pleasant.

DD is covered in even more pocks and they are still coming, bless her. I don't think she's got it mildly so fingers crossed this will be it for her!

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 25/08/2011 13:22

State of play is amazingly good! Love it, love bill nighy :)

I hope the pox is not too bad-we seem to have missed it twice this year, no idea how (despite my best efforts to infect both kids!)

NoHunIntended · 25/08/2011 17:13

Oh poor baby, Mock. So nasty for them.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 25/08/2011 17:26

Yup! I did have my fun this morning though and put her in a spotty nappy Smile.

NoHunIntended · 25/08/2011 17:36

:)

HarrietJones · 25/08/2011 18:22

Dd1/2 taking it in turns to be a pita today. They seem to swap every half hour so v hard to keep up on who is getting told off.
Dd3 just ate best part of 3/4 large jacket potato, cheese, toms, 1/4 pepper. Followed by 8 small plums. Shock. dd2 offered her another half a potato & she nodded. So I chopped it up & she chomped through it

NoHunIntended · 25/08/2011 18:42

Crikey, HJ! I don't think DS eats anything near that amount!

Hope the elder two settle down for you!

HarrietJones · 25/08/2011 18:58

She's done that for 3 days now. Struggling to fit in food now, good job she seems to have dropped her morning nap. 3 meals ,2 snacks between 8&6. Then milk 6:30/10/2-3 more over night.
She's had a growth spurt though as she can now see over our bed now (just!).

TribbleWithoutACause · 26/08/2011 02:54

hj wow go dd3!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 26/08/2011 14:08

Hello from the land of Pox.

DD is generally like that with food too HJ. Last night she had a whole bowl of pasta then a whole orange minus 2 segments that I was allowed to have. Although I don't think she's eat 8 whole plums!

NoHunIntended · 26/08/2011 14:37

I am still stunned about the plums! I don't think I could eat eight plums comfortably!

HarrietJones · 26/08/2011 15:04

They were small plums if that's any consolation!

Dd3 had breast milk from a cup this am( doesn't usually drink it) and kept laughing& looking at me.

Just got back from the beach bit cold but nice fresh air picnic & dd3 had great fun destroying dd1/2 sandcastles!

TribbleWithoutACause · 26/08/2011 15:10

Mock Are you having fun with the real nappies (love the spotty child with spotty nappy). Theres a load of wonderoos going cheap on cloth nappy tree at the moment. We've used them on DS and I quite like them, they're quickly becoming one of my work horse nappies.

I've had to speak up again at work about issues in relation to my return. It's so frustrating and typically everyone I need to speak to is off on leave. I felt sorry for my boss, they seemed as frustrated as I was.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 26/08/2011 16:04

Trib thats annoying about work. What worries me is simply feeling too tired! i feel whacked right now!

Baba and Boo was tried yesterday (the spotty one). Today via amazon I received some flushable liners that I hope are ok with sewage treatment plants as the washable liners aren't any good at the moment. I don't know if its the pox but I think flushable will make my life easier! I am going to try one with Aplix tomorrow as I think it will be easier than poppers as DD is super wriggly at change time.

NoHunIntended · 26/08/2011 16:59

Good luck kicking arse at work, Trib. Why life can't be simpler, I don't know!

How is the little spotty baby today, Mock??

Anyone up for a Friday Five?

HarrietJones · 26/08/2011 17:02

Trib- so frustrating. Especially when X has to check with Y who will liase with Z but Z is on holiday so Y will speak to A but she's off sick and B who would cover is in an all day meeting...

TribbleWithoutACause · 26/08/2011 17:31

Just heard my best friend has finally agreed to marry her DP. She's been wavering for ages and he keeps asking. I'm so happy for her. She had an xh like mine and her DP is so sweet!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 26/08/2011 20:53

Thats nice news HJ.

I've only just got DD off to sleep as her head is too itchy. Poor little thing. I know she'll be up in the night as dinner was too late and she was too tired to eat much. DH rang when we normally eat, so everything got delayed. I felt so sorry for DD as she did want the food but she was too tired Sad.

  1. Will be doing the same as I've been doing all week, 2 dog walks and staying in for the rest of the time if DD is still contagious.
  2. Dark pink spotty
  3. L'Oreal 4x Voluminous black mascara and Max Factor eyeliner in khaki which is the perfect eyebrow pencil and they seem to have stopped doing it ARGHH!
  4. All day breakfast minus the egg
  5. Latest Sheila Flanagan novel with others in the queue on my Kindle. Most cheap!
NoHunIntended · 26/08/2011 21:48

That is lovely news, H. I love a bit of love!

Mock, hope the pox pain will be over soon.

  1. Just chilling with the boys (DH and DS).
  2. Khaki green.
  3. I do like make-up, but quite happily go without too.
  4. He eats what we eat.
  5. I just read MN! :)
TribbleWithoutACause · 26/08/2011 22:19

HJ Awwwww, how lovely. I love weddings, I always cry. I have found bomb proof make up though that has stood up to the test of my mushiness.

1, Going for hot chocolate.
2, Brown with pink trim.
3, Benefit Badgal in black.
4, Home made Macaroni cheese.
5, Me too nohun, either that or wikipedia.

The mormons came back round again today, they spent an hour sat in the living room having a good old debate with DH. DH is a bit of a geek and enjoyed the arguing, I had a cup of tea and cruised MN and made sure DS didn't destroy anything.

But get this, these guys were like 19 and 20. They were mere babies, and just so so young (they did look smart in their suits though). I was speaking to them and one of them was saying how it was his birthday tomorrow, and the other one was telling me that his brother had just gotten married last week. He didn't get to go either, he had to make do with pictures. DH asked them what they did for fun, and they said they do prep and maybe write letters to their family.

I know it's just so so soppy of me, but all I could hear imagine in my head was this poor chap trudging round in the rain on his birthday or sat in a darkened room on his own writing letters by candle light with a malfunctioning biro. All I wanted to do was to go all mushy, pat them on the head and then force feed them cake and biscuits and tell them they didn't have to go out in the rain anymore.

I have no plans to convert, but if I ever see the poor little mites again I don't think I'll be able to hold back on not force feeding them cake.

bestfootforwards · 26/08/2011 22:28
  1. Ferry trip to the isle of wight!
  1. None (but only because I'm tucked up in bed already)
  1. Benetint blusher, I look pasty pale without blusher
  1. Roast dinner a favourite with everyone
  1. Have a whole bookshelf of books I want to read, barely manage any at the minute as mumsnet ds takes up all my energy

On operation wean here. Ds is allergic to cows milk which means I can have any either, and now I'm back at work I'm finding it too hard to keep it up. If I don't remember sandwiches in the morning I often end up eating ready salted crisps (the only milk free flavour!) And sweets, not exactly a healthy lunch. Feel a tad guilty not to make it to one, but in the circumstances hopefully ds will forgive me!

trib well done for speaking up, but sorry it will take a while to get any progress

hj that's lovely about your friend
