LOL at axe-shaped bag Tribble!

HJ Gill Rapley did well with Skype. I had a skype talk with my dad the other day and the connection was terrible. However.....!! DD and I had a skype chat with DH today!! For 15 minutes! Reasonable video and good comms. DD waved at DH a lot and it made me all teary eyed!

HarrietJones · 18/08/2011 20:46

Aww! Will be nice for your dh to see dd on there even if it's not that great and she will remember him better

NoHunIntended · 18/08/2011 21:32

Skype is great, isn't it! Definitely a good thing to try and do as often as possible.

SpringFlowers · 18/08/2011 22:23

A mum on the pregnancy after miscarriage thread that I have been on for months died this week. She had a four year old and six month old twins. It rather puts it all into perspective doesn't it? Snuggle your babies when they wake tonight because we are all so lucky...

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 18/08/2011 22:53

Oh Spring Sad Sad Sad. Thats appalling. How did it happen? Sad.

HarrietJones · 19/08/2011 06:43

I saw that spring I didn't know her though. Very sad. There's a blanket thread going on.

SpringFlowers · 19/08/2011 08:31

I don't know how it happened, the condolence thread doesn't say and the post natal thread's gone very quiet. I feel quite distracted by it, her babies will never know their mum.

HarrietJones · 19/08/2011 08:37

There was some talk of her having a heart problem?

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 19/08/2011 09:44

Oh :( so sad. These things really touch us now we are parents too don't they, her poor family.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 19/08/2011 09:53

It is distracting isn't it? Even if you don't really know the person. My thoughts are with her family.

NoHunIntended · 19/08/2011 10:48

I saw that too. A lot of people on here seemed to know her in person.
Very tragic. :( Brought tears to my eyes and I don't even know her. :(
Makes you appreciate all you have all the more.

It feels like a Saturday today. With no DH about at weekends, all the days meld into one. Had a great day so far. swimming this morning followed by a trip into town and lunch at Costas. Off on a dog walk now.

DD is trialling a washable nappy. A Little Lamb pocket nappy. I am disappointed already that one of the poppers has snapped off, but other than that its nice and not too bulky.

TribbleWithoutACause · 19/08/2011 20:06

Mock You want to try a few different ones before you properly decide, I've got a real mixture but my work horse nappies are my bumgenius. That being said I do like Baba and Boo, they're cheap but brilliant nappies. I've never had a problem with them. I've got one with a little cowboy on the back as well.

It has been so so hectic this week, I'm so so tired. I had to get up earlish and typically DS decided he wanted to get up with me and play with my bag. It was lovely to come home to him though today, I got a lovely smile and a whack round the head. He then followed me round the living room crying at me as I got his stuff together for bed.

We've got the out laws coming tomorrow, should be nice.

NoHunIntended · 19/08/2011 20:18

I always have to think hard what day it is! :)

Is this your first foray into cloth nappies, Mock? I absolutely love mine. My favourites are TotsBots Easyfit - great flexible fit, look comfortable, pretty prints, easy to wash and pretty quick to dry.
Also love my bespoke ones.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 19/08/2011 20:22

Ooh thanks for the recommendation Tribble a pack of 10 is £20 cheaper than LittleLamb and I can get £30 cashback from the council. DD shall trial one. Other than the snapping popper, the nappy saw full usage this afternoon and it was a hit. I used a fleece liner too which made getting rid of solids very easy.

Very cute of your DS- I get an affectionate whack or 2 as well. Have a lovely weekend with your in-laws. I've just realised I've forgotten my FILs b-day Blush have quickly bought some posh chocs which will arrive Monday!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 19/08/2011 20:24

Ooh, just seen camouflage nappy.....Grin.

HarrietJones · 19/08/2011 20:38

Dd3 hyper this afternoon , v mischievous. We were at bf talk & she was everywhere , in people's bags, pinching stuff, eating anything she could find onthe floor, pushing prams. Then when I kept stopping her eating pens she kept signing 'bye, finished, bye, finished...'

TribbleWithoutACause · 19/08/2011 21:04

Nohun I'm not so keen on the easyfits, I've found the rise a bit poor in relation to others, plus I want the velcro bit on the front to be longer.

Mock Seriously it is addictive, holdens landing and weenotions are nice for customs. You can get others on facebook but I'm never too sure about them.

TribbleWithoutACause · 19/08/2011 21:19

I've seen a pram I really want on ebay. I'm on the verge of trying to convincing DH.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 19/08/2011 21:23

Sorry NoHun x-posted. Yes its my first foray. I got bum advice when I was expecting DD about reusables and after a bit of research last week I decided that pocket nappies sounded like the best bet. DD is really slim so I did not want anything bulky to inhibit her movement. LittleLamb had the best website for explaining it all I thought. I rang them today and left a message about the popper as if it had come off when DD was messing with it it could have choked her. I suggested it could be a batch issue. Functionality wise it works well, but the lack of popper reliability has put me off. I have ordered a dalmation one from Baba and Boo and I will look at your recommendation. DD being a little one, a low rise might be ok.

Trib yes I can see how its addictive!

HJ you have a cheeky monkey!!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 19/08/2011 21:24

Another one Trib?! Grin

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 19/08/2011 21:35

Just found this website here.

TribbleWithoutACause · 20/08/2011 05:24

mock I live in a flat and my car is parked well away frOm the house, so we have the bcmj that lives in the car and the quinny that lives in the stair well. I have long since decided that I don't like the quinny but really can't afford an uppababy as they don't seem to be coming up on eBay that much. One has and I'm tempted to get it and sell on the quinny. Still not sure though.

SilverSky · 20/08/2011 08:35

Morning all!

That's really really sad about that lady. Sad Also send my thoughts to her family. Sad

No real news this week aside from my little boy turning into a teary unhappy complaining individual. There are moments of happiness and laughter but they are few and far between. Thought it was all teeth related but it seems it's developmental which was pointed out by someone else.

We are all having a lie in. HI and DS are snoozing next to me yet I'm wide awake thinking about all the jobs that need doing and the ones that won't even get started. But let's not worry about that!

Got some clothes to wear to work. I say clothes - jacket, dress & cardigan, top. Leaving shoes and bras plus anything else I find. I refuse to wear my maternity clothes back to work. Must go through and sort wardrobe next week.

Hope you are having lovely weekends.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 20/08/2011 09:12

Trib I know you weren't a Quinny fan in the end. Shame as you loved it when it first arrived (but was not in use and was holding a teddy bear!). I can hardly talk, I have 2. I have the MC Spin and also a Silvercross pop.

Well done for getting new work clothes Silver. I just have to dig out pre-maternity stuff to wear. My hat has seen better days so I need to rescue it. Its been squashed into a removals box.
