Loving that the Great British Bake Off is back on. Wish I had more energy for baking as I do love it.

NoHunIntended · 17/08/2011 00:11

I HAD forgotten that, Mock, thanks for the info.

SpringFlowers · 17/08/2011 15:01

Where is everyone today? Mock - I hope you're feeling ok. HJ - hope your mam was ok with the children.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 17/08/2011 15:10

Helloo! Yes feeling human. Still same symptoms, but drugged up and happy because I have just had a 30 min chat with DH! How're you? Sorted with the ante-natal moblet?

HarrietJones · 17/08/2011 15:13

Kids survived this morning. Dd3 quite happy. Been to pick up my car this afternoon& came back to an upset baby wanting milk

HarrietJones · 17/08/2011 15:14

Is that the first phone call mock? Bet it was lovely to speak to him

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 17/08/2011 15:35

Its the first phone call that lasted longer than 2 minutes. He also sent me a box of chocolates from hotel chocolat today. They're yummy and its the first time I have had a whole box of chocolates to myself Grin.

HarrietJones · 17/08/2011 15:54

Aww, that's sweet :) makes note to tell dh later

Dd2 currently reading 'mummy laid an egg' to dd3. Not sure she's made the link. Dd3 seems to be enjoying it though!

NoHunIntended · 17/08/2011 18:35

Hm, you've made me want chocolate now!!!

But glad you had a nice chat.

TribbleWithoutACause · 17/08/2011 18:39

Ok, DS has had a LOT of pooey nappies today (at least four). Is that counted as diarrhea? Some of them were slightly looser than normal, but nothing watery or runny. He seemed a bit unsettled this afternoon and was off his tea a bit (he tried to eat his toys though).

Is he just teething? We never get red cheeks or any of the like so I'm not sure.

HarrietJones · 17/08/2011 18:50

If they aren't runny I wouldn't worry. Could have eaten something dodgy? like dd3 eating compost yesterday or a lot of fruit?
Dd3 doesn't have solid poo yet it's more mush so I'm not entirely sure on a clear difference.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 17/08/2011 19:16

DD poos for Britain. At least 4 is a normal day for us! Could be teeth. Might be worth making sure his bottom stays comfy so nip any teething rash in the bud.

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 17/08/2011 19:37

Mick-so glad you had a proper chat with your dh! Must feel so lovely :)

Spring-sounds like yesterday was a horrendous day for you! I hope today was better. Fwiw I think the rest of your antenatal group are just being silly. It sounds a lovely offer :)

I'm shattered, this working and kids milarky is crazy. Nearly my first week done though. It's flown by!

TribbleWithoutACause · 17/08/2011 19:40

Cool, will do, thanks for that.

Mock Wow, that is a lot of poo.

HJ Who knows what he was eating, we went to a friends house today so his diet may have expanded to include dog hair and breadsticks off of the floor.

HarrietJones · 17/08/2011 20:28

It's an interesting phase isn't it the 'I can eat anything' one. The compost incident ended in a huge tantrum. She usually doesn't bother but it was fresh worm compost which she thought was wonderful Hmm

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 17/08/2011 20:36

We have regular dog hair consumption too Blush.

Well done Seashells you are my inspiration for when I go back to work in October!

I did something potentially incredibly stupid today.....On the way back from nursery a man and his 4 year old daughter were thumbing a lift and I stopped for them. They needed to get to a village near me. When I let them in the car all I could think of was no car seat for her, was she really his daughter and was he going to garrote me as I drove. I have never offered anyone a lift or stopped for a hitch hiker. Even considering this day and age perhaps its wrong of me to be so suspicious but in retrospect I feel really stupid for putting myself and DD in that position. It seems like they do it regularly though and I think he was her Daddy as thats what she called him and she seemed very happy. He told me she was going to be going to a school in a nearby village soon and I asked how if she would be getting to school by taxi and he said 'I hope it won't come to that' Hmm . There is only one bus service from the villages into the town a day at 0930 so hitch hiking was his method. The little girl also was used to walking considerable distances for a 4 year old.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 17/08/2011 21:36

For those who are interested I have found out that Tescos paracetamol suspension for babies does not contain any of the ingredients that Calpol does that are actually banned for under 3 year olds in other food products. Its a purer product that does the same job. I have not found a baby ibuprofen that does not contain the banned ingredients yet but will let you know if and when I do.
I tried DD with a baltic amber teething necklace a few weeks ago and she took to it well, but unfortunately it gave her a rash that took about a month to clear up. She did look like a flintstones baby when she wore it though!

HarrietJones · 18/08/2011 06:36

Ooh that's useful mock!

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 18/08/2011 12:54

Just got back from the Osteopath. DD's last session and now she's fast asleep. It seems to have worked wonders for her ear. She barely pulls on it now.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 18/08/2011 16:50

Mock you have made me feel better about being tight and always buying the cheap brands of calpol Grin

Glad to be of service Smile.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 18/08/2011 18:27

Good meal for the baby who will only practice fine motor skills and eat tiny stuff:

Fry the following small diced veg in this order:
Potatoes, butternut squash, courgettes, mushrooms and tomatoes add smoked paprika, chive and rosemary (or whatever combos appeal to you) then add chopped tomatoes and finally chickpeas. Cook until the chickpeas are cooked through. Serve with cous cous if you want but there's plenty of carb in the potatoes. Was a hit here.

TribbleWithoutACause · 18/08/2011 18:41

mock oh that sounds nice. Regarding the hitch hiker, I think we are guilty in this country of seeing potential murderers on every corner. The vast majority of people are ok (minor silliness aside). That being said, if the guy is carrying an axe shaped bag I'd be inclined to drive on.

hj ds also seems to be developing a taste for baby wipes as well. I did actually try one to see what the fuss was about and well I'm obviously missing something as it didn't really appeal.

Ds is dancing away to In the Night Garden, why is it so captivating?

HarrietJones · 18/08/2011 19:07

Mock- that sounds perfect for us. Dd3 is obsessed with tiny things. Though fajitas went down ok tonight. It sounds like something dh/I would like too.

HarrietJones · 18/08/2011 19:12

Been to talks on BLW & EC today. V interesting. Must have been hard work for Gill Rapley as she did her talk over skype and there was a lot of noisy babies!
