ledkr Grin, congratulations on thread title - just remember we all loved you first!

ponyo Girls in bed - last 20 mins of X Factor was possibly the grumpiest / tiredest I've ever seen them. O doesn't like X Factor but Sofia is obsessed with any of the female judges - bit like her Dad Grin Mr W is off tomorrow where he has the exciting choice of helping my sister move house or taking his parents to Ikea for the first time [cruelly snicker] He is back in on Mon, on nights again. He is off for a week in about 10 days time but I thought he finished this week for the longer break and was really pissed off when I realised I couldn't read a calendar Shock

reastie Grin at your dh and Alice

While I remember does anyone have a recommendation for hotel in Paris - have got a few from the travel bit but like trust you more. We're not fussy, as long as there's a bed [phnar phnar]

reastie Grin and Hmm at your dh looking after A, reminds me of dp turning up with dd to see me and my friend (out having lunch) looking all stressed with fruit puree on his shoulder Grin
Boo to him being bored at park, might try taking dd to a park near us although I think they're all full of scallies...

wiggles oh dear to tired and grumpy girls! Hope Mr W has an exciting day tomo then Hmm what will you be doing with yourself?! No suggestions for gay Paree sorry, sounds fab though :) Wink

Am watching satc film myself this evening, aah makes me all nostalgic for drinking wine and watching satc series with my friends and film with my sis :)

wigglesrock · 27/08/2011 22:23

ILovePonyo I'm helping my sister move some bits and pieces, we have a great car boot so will get some stuff shifted before she gets the van on Monday. Well we are heading to my mums, her and my dad are at their best friends daughters! wedding today, so need all the gossip and hopefully there will be plenty Grin The girls are setting up a crazy golf game there so that will keep my Dad them busy for hours!!

PS I never look at Jessica Alba if I can help it Grin, too pretty Envy

wiggles We stayed in a very cheap hostel/hotel type place in Paris is La Marais. It was decent enough although we were on a hen do so doubt it's what you and Mr Wiggles are after!

reastie my DP Is always telling me about things he's going to do at weekends. I often just nod and smile and think yep, and I'll be looking after the baby. Again.

ponyo SATC is one of my faves. I'm watching Reading on BBC3 though and am gutted I haven't made a festival this year. I saw Pulp at Leeds 11 years ago and they played none of A Different Class so I'm well jel of all the youngsters getting treated to a bit of a greatest hits session today.

Ooohhh. And Barlow/ToryBoy was looking HOT on X Factor today.

(Can anyone tell I've done no decorating and just drunk wine instead?)

ledkr · 28/08/2011 11:40

Gosh it took me ages to find that thread-how embarassing-i agree ponyo she can be abitch on the bf threads but i think she appreciates my honesty on those boards,i get so annoyed when the completely refuse to accept that some women cannot feed.

Night out was ok,id have rather watch tv tho,i drank sensibly which is a new experience for me and then pissed people got on my nerves. Our friends bickering and storming off cos each were talking to ex's,i was just like "wtf, how old are we?"
Dilly was good for brother Derri but is still not eating, dil suggested blw again but i am lost for ideas and cant believe they get enough nutrition from it.Am cooking a roast today so maybe ill dice some up and see what happens. It is interesting how many of us are struggling with dh/p's. When you think about it we have 9 months of pg then big traumatic birth followed by massive body changes,no sleep, worry about babies, weight, feeding, going back to work, other kids,no sex, different holidays, changes to social life, trying to get dh to do their bit. Phew,no wonder we are a bit edgey Grin and thats just what i remember.

Emski76 · 28/08/2011 13:06

Nodding my head to Ledkrs dh/p explanation and saying uh huh, that's too bloody right.

ledkr · 28/08/2011 18:03

Yes ems and we are not even first timers either.

Dilly sat in high chair with chicken cabbage roasters and carrots, she nibbled and gagged and then chucked most of it on the floor Confused she then ate a small amount of pudding-jarred apple crumble n custard-any blw experts,is it normal for most of the food to end up launched?

Dh is p'd off now cos friggin manu have just thrashed arsenal 8-2 yep 8-2 !!

reastie · 28/08/2011 18:43

evenin. well, today I left dh and alice together when i went to the supermarket - came back to find dh in a foul mood as alice wouldn't get to sleep (so what i have several times a day then). i think he is finally understanding the demands i'm under. btw - when i was in tesco i had a brush with a minor celeb - I saw gloria hunniford in the veg section Grin

ledkr it was my understanding that the amount of mess made is why most people don't do blw Hmm . btw all those knowledgable ones - alice just decided to have no dinner today Confused (as in solids, not milk). she always has a few mouthfuls and has never flat out refused any - is this usual?

debka · 28/08/2011 19:33

Well hello everyone,

Been a manic day today with 2 whingey girls. Imy was so tired that when DH was cleaning her teeth and she wouldn't cooperate he just put her straight in bed, no bath, no stories, nothing, expecting her to scream then have her teeth cleaned properly. No no, quietly got to bed, she is now asleep! Grin

S has decided she now likes going two hours between sleeps, we discovered this after much screaming when I tried to put her down after 1.5hours this morning same as every other day for the last 2 months. It's been One Of Those Days.

However I did take a large dose of Night Nurse last night and slept like a bloody log, twas heaven, 10 hours straight, did me the world of good.

Anyway enough about me.

ledkr and others I cannot find that thread, can anyone link it for me? Pretty please?

ledkr re BLW we did it with Imy and she had more milk than S does now on mainly purees but she honestly did fine. She was on full solids (no more bf, she never had a bottle) at 13 months. She did use to throw it around some days but she always slept through the night and gained weight so did ok I think.

It is a bit sh!t Grin isn't it being a mum sometimes, sometimes it's wonderful but day to day it's just bloody hard slog and no-one who's not had kids really gets it. I find having 2 harder than I thought, when it's just the one baby you can kind of kid yourself that you're still you and life is fairly calm, with 2, especially with the smallish age gap I honestly never have a moment, except the heaven that is early bedtime!! (apologies to reastie with Alice who doesn't sleep in the evenings :( ) How the actual F any of you manage with more than 2 in utterly beyond me!!

And I totally agree the men just DO NOT get it, in the book Life After Birth she says that a man's time is his own unless he has a baby thrust into his arms; a woman's time belongs to her children. So so true.

40Weeks · 28/08/2011 19:49

HI girls - not been on for ages, off to celeb spot ledkr on aibu....back soon for catch up!

ILovePonyo · 28/08/2011 19:54

Hey all, been out into town to meet a friend for a cuppa today, dd very well behaved and got lots of admiring looks from the grannies in John lewis cafe :)

deb I don't know how people manage it with more than one child! Good idea with the night nurse, bet you feel good after your nice big sleep, although sounds like you needed it to deal wth today.

Yes indeed to the bloody hard slog of motherhood, the friend I met today doesn't have kids and isn't too fussed about them, my other good friend is ttc so I can't really moan to her about having a baby Hmm Good job I have you lot Grin

ledkr can't believe your mates were bickering about ex's, thats what you do as a teenager! Am no expert on blw but when I give dd stuff she chews on it, dribbles it out and is only just learning to swallow. So sounds normal? Is she still having usual amount of milk?

reastie woo to celeb spot Grin Good for you leaving dh with A, hope he is gaining some insight into how difficult it can be. No idea re: dinner, maybe she wasn't hungry?

wiggles hope you got some good wedding gossip and the moving stuff went well.

choco I went to a couple of Reading festivals many years ago, couldn't stand it now though, I am not a camping in a tent sort of person, I like my home comforts and lovely bed! My sis went one year but her mate got them some vip camping somehow and it sounded great, celeb spotting, free bar, nice toilets - thats the only way I'd do it nowadays! How did the decorating go Grin Wink

This weaning business is a bit confusing isnt it - I know I keep banging on about it but now dd is taking some food from a spoon and swallowing it (phew) but then not having a bottle later. Is it food or milk thats most important Confused
Think I'll go and re-read what you are all feeding and when... Grin

ILovePonyo · 28/08/2011 19:56

Oh deb and 40 the ledkr thread has been moved to chat - heeeere

debka · 28/08/2011 20:08

Thanks ponyo

ledkr!

wigglesrock · 28/08/2011 21:25

Evening - knackered as usual, my bloody sister, for somone who is so organised with her professional life she can't move house for shit. I went up today and nothing was packed - she was literally throwing stuff into bags as I walked in Angry All the main stuff is done and she has "men" coming to help tomorrow, she has humungus sofas, so I am bowing out of that one Grin.

Mr W brought his Dad to Ikea Grin, he bloody loved it - apparently he was like a child at Christmas! He had to be told that "no we can't go to the cafe and have a nosy" Grin All their bits and pieces bought (afraid we have introduced him to Billy bookcases - there's no saving him now) All that remains to be done is for Mr W to build all the feckin' stuff on his next day off, after he fixes my sisters' sink pipe [grrr]

debka I found going from 1-2 difficult, I think it was because I didn't go back to work after O and the days did seem very long and obviously the nights because of the no sleeping. If its any help I have found going from 2-3 much easier Grin.

With regard to men and their helping Hmm the only reason me and Mr W don't really have any problem with that is I treat the girls as a full-time job, so he has a fulltime job and so do I, therefore any time that we have off is spilt down the middle as free time. I'm sure that doesn't make sense anywhere but in my own head but it works for us Grin

OP posts:
ledkr · 28/08/2011 22:38

Well wiggles out of all of us you seem less affected so you must have something there.
I know my prob is that much as i love Dilly i have had kids since i was 17 and was enjoying no night wakes and my lie ins career and social life,i was planning to move abroad, cognitivley i need to learn how to embrace my new life but its been a struggle,dh is actually very good but just a bit slower paced than i am and i defo think hormones play a part.
When the school term starts i am going to tackle this weight and shred daily and forget the sodding house work, going to do something for meeee for a change and try and enjoy this time off work and not be miserable, can you kick my ares when i moan in future.

reastie · 29/08/2011 07:56

wiggles that makes perfect sense to me Grin . I sort of think the same way too just don't think dh does. Actually, I have to say things have got a little better since I talked to him about it and he's now helping out alot more at home Hmm

ledkr are you doing the sponsored shred-a-thon? That would help with the motivation to do it every day Wink . Only a couple of days until shred day and I still need to buy a sports bra - it's hard doing aerobics when you're having to use your hands to hold on to your boobs Wink

Alice has a cold now too - seems like lots of the babies have had one recently. She was awake screaming about every 45 mins all through the night needing rocking/cuddling back to sleep [yawn] . I think that must be the reason why she wouldn't eat her dinner yesterday - I told dh I thought she was getting a cold yesterday morning as she was coughing and sneezing alot but he wouldn't believe me - he should know I am always right Grin Although today she doesn't seem too winey, I think it's just when she gets tired/can't sleep with a stuffy nose. Got a PIL visit today - think I'll ask them if they can get some nose spray and that snot sucker on their way over to make themselves useful Grin although I'm not sure if chemists are open on bank holidays Hmm

wigglesrock · 29/08/2011 08:49

Morning all, reastie having a little giggle to myself at Alice being winey Grin

ledkr said it before I think you are the one of us that had the most adjusting to do - like I said I was still getting up with O and helping to wipe dirty bums until the week A was born.

I'm shredding from Thu - really got no excuse - both the "mockers" S & O will be out for the morning and at least A still still loves me enough to giggle with me not at me Grin Sofia is literally beside herself with excitement about starting back to school on Wednesday. She had already got her uniform laid out and we've sorted out pencil cases, lunch boxes etc. Can't believe she's about to enter her third year of primary school - she's only 6 [sob]

jane thought about you over the weekend a few times, really difficult few days, not that any day is easy, xx

Hope everyone has a nice day, no big plans here - surprise surprise Grin

OP posts:
reastie · 29/08/2011 09:02

Grin I like to start her young wiggles Blush . I meant whiney of course - but I can blame tiredness as a valid excuse Wink . Being tired does nothing for the diet does it? I'm soooooooooo hungry excuses excuses

ledkr · 29/08/2011 10:53

Well Dilly was a complete cowbag pita. Woke at 10 then 5 then i battled her back to sleep by 6.15 and she woke at 7 grrrrr. Cant decide if its regression or just hungry cos not having solids. She ate a good brefast, she likes the hip baby rice breakfast jars so maybe on the way up.Out to dsis for lunch today how does one do blw when out?I am going to take a splash mat and try to use the strap on baby chair but not sure if she is too younbg for it,she is a bit of a sloucher tbh,in the buggy h chair etc, very slouchy.
Back on the prozac today then wahoo.Need to do something as feeling very unbalanced.
I m not shredding untill next Monday btw as Ella still off. Cant wait Hmm

reastie · 29/08/2011 12:45

ledkr Angry and Sad to you for dillys lack of sleeping last night. I'm keeping my eyes open with match sticks today Wink . We have something a little like this as a travel high chair and tbh it fits alice better than her actual high chair and she doesn't slouch nearly as much. We don't have that actual one though.

ANyone who's used those baby snotter suckers for los with colds - how do you get it in their noses? Keep trying with alice but she won't hold her head still. DO you wait til their asleep and then pounce or just pin them down when awake?

debka · 29/08/2011 12:55

Sorry for bad night ledkr but I did Grin at you calling D a complete cowbag! Hope she's a bit more settled today.

wiggles sweet about S so excited about going back to school, I don't remember ever feeling like that! TBH I can't wait till next year when Imy will go to nursery.

reastie I'm clueless when it comes to snot suckers, sorry!

I am considering joining Slimming World. My aunt wants to lose weight so we may do it together. I've a friend who has lost over 3 stone now doing SW diet, so I know it works! ledkr you've done it haven't you, what's it like?

WeAreBorg · 29/08/2011 16:04

Hi all,

Can't catch up properly so hope all is well. Just wanted to say hello to Jane and thinking of her, hope you are doing okay. Also wondered how hubbard was?

Not much going on here. N keeps waking up screaming in the evening after going to bed, he drifts off quite peacefully after a little play with his toys so no idea what the screaming is? Teeth? Tummy pains from weaning? He definitely seems more unsettled in general since the weanathon, I don't know if you others have found this.

ledkr a friend who we never invite round cos they're so messy does BLW and just casually makes a huge mess when they go out to eat. I remember being 38 weeks preg and crawling round picking up bits of food after they'd gone. I don't know how else you'd do it though Confused.

Well need to rescue Nate, he is on his tummy, desperately trying to get his Sophie but just pushing himself further and further away and is now off his mat and wedged under the sofa. Bless.

WeAreBorg · 29/08/2011 16:08

reastie I think you would just have to pin them down (re snot suckers).

Does anyone know (boring question alert) if I have frozen something e.g. mince, then defrosted it to make something, e.g. shepherds pie, can I then refreeze it? Was going to leave some for N but thinking I shouldn't?

reastie · 29/08/2011 16:47

borg if you just defrosted raw mince then you can only refreeze it if you've cooked it in some kind of dish (eg shepherds pie), you can't refreeze it as it is IYKWIM. I'm sure people will now come on and say they've done that and nothings happened to them, but the advice is you shouldn't or you risk nasty food poisoning. Btw I tried pinning alice down to do suctioning - she just screamed so much there was more snot than pre suctioning due to screams Hmm

NeedToSleepZZZ · 29/08/2011 18:04

Hello all,

Started writing this morning and was called away and lost the message Angry. found the ledkr thread and added to it, makes a change to read a nice thread every now and then (usually lurking in aibu).

reastie our snot sucker is too big for Ben and have resorted to using my finger which isn't great but works! The spray is good though, usually results in a couple of screams followed by a sneeze and huge clearance then calm Grin

wiggles I'll be shredding with you on Thursday, looking forward to shifting my stomach. Pre pregnancy I hated my. thunder thighs legs but now they look slim compared to the rest of me Hmm. hopefully Ben is too young to be traumatised by me gasping for breath and sweating for England in the living room..

ledkr please give yourself a break, I agree with wiggles saying how much your life has altered. So sorry Dilly has been playing up, if it's any consolation Ben is teething AGAIN! Up at 3, 3:30, 4 then up for good at 5am. He turned his nose up at pea and cauliflower today but still ate his organix carrot sticks.

Right, going to go as B is tired (please sleep please sleep please sleep) and going to post this before I lose it.
