7 poos Shock BG

IC Can I pinch the lentil and veg pie recipe please?? DD hated daal and I have a bag of red lentils that need using! Grin

DD is very interested in colours. She knows "boo" (blue) and "back" (black) and will hold up pens/blocks/coloured plastic coat hangers/point to rainbow in a book for me to tell her the colour. She tilts her head and says "boo?" whilst holding a orange item for me to say "no it is orange" etc. Amusing but tiring!

BabyGiraffes · 25/08/2011 21:23

LBH I think she likes a little privacy to do her poos (usually standing very quietly in a corner either in the garden or living room), so travelling was not suitable and she held it all in... Grin
Very impressed at your dd's knowledge of colours Smile. dd2 likes to count, but everything is still 'drei' ie. 3 Grin

PenguinArmy · 25/08/2011 21:29

we have 'too' and 'tee', still no one yet Hmm (she waits for me to say that)

LittlebearH · 25/08/2011 21:33

Ha! I have noticed DD sits quitely on her baby walker and I say are you doing a poo poo? She says "yes" and I say oh good girl, lets change your nappy. She then says "no!!" and runs off! She thinks it is a game......Hmm but mummy always wins!

Strangely a poo nappy doesnt bother her, but will say "dirty" whilst pointing at her tshirt with half of dinner down it and then "off" to take it off. Or that her hands are dirty.
She told me my feet were dirty yesterday....bloomin flip flops!

StoneBaby · 25/08/2011 21:36

I'm so impressed by your LO speaking facilities. DS can say daddy, maman, hiya and bye. He is more than happy to speak giberiche (sp?) but no where near havjng a conversation Grin

InmaculadaConcepcion · 25/08/2011 21:43

DH made it, LBH and it was with green lentils so it had more "bite" - but there's no reason why you couldn't do something similar with red lentils - especially if you added some grated cheese into the mix (or if you were making the pie for you and your DP, then do what I did and insert extra cheesiness into your DD's portion - assuming she's into cheese, of course!)
Anyway, I think he basically sweated onions with garlic, leek, red pepper and sweet potato (chopped up small) then added veg stock and the lentils plus some herbs and simmered until the lentils were mostly cooked (usually about 30mins) and had absorbed most of the liquid. Then he used frozen short crust pastry to make the pie, bunged the filling in and cooked it through in the oven.

Where are your LOs when it comes to using "yes" and "no"? DD will very occasionally use the Spanish "si" but usually, a shake of the head, energetic wave of the hands and "da-da-da-da" means No and a sort of pleased-sounding giggle with a smile means Yes. It's kind of cute.

LittlebearH · 25/08/2011 21:47

Oh had to buy two more pairs of shoes this week.(bloody Clarks -£56!!) Last ones were a 4 back in May, she is now a 5.5!

StoneBaby · 25/08/2011 21:51

DS is now a 5 and I need to go and get him some boots (or similar). The main problem is that he's having a fit everytime we go to the shop to get his feet measured, so I used a printed chart so I hope it'll be right Confused

PenguinArmy · 25/08/2011 21:52

I am now more annoyed with Clarks now that I've seen how big her shoes are, they fell of three times yesterday. I'm thinking he thought her toe was where there was just a structural thing IYSWIM. Her softer ones finally have a hole in both shoes so I better find her something else until she grows into them.

LBH It's always worth trying again. How about more of a tarka daal, cooked with a tin of coconut milk?

PenguinArmy · 25/08/2011 21:53

well DD is very nearly 20lbs and almost in 9-12 months clothing (some bits are really big on her and others fit)

LittlebearH · 25/08/2011 21:58

PA She has grown loads! DD is only 21llb, I was worried the shoes would make her look like a golf club!

Thank god my shoe shop offers a loyalty card, her next pair (6th) will be free and no price restriction!

LittlebearH · 25/08/2011 22:01

Thanks for the lentill tip/recipe. I have never bought coconut milk! I love baking but my savory foods reppotoire is macaroni cheese and various casseroles!! Oh I can steam veg for England Grin

PenguinArmy · 25/08/2011 22:02

I have now decided that DH mucked up the last time he got her weighed but it's still a good weight for her age wrt centiles.

Bed time for me, night all :)

SconesForTea · 26/08/2011 09:42

Bc congratulations! How very exciting! How many weeks are you? Hope the MS isn't too bad. You and DH must be over the moon Grin

PA great news on the weight gain Smile

LBH hope the counselling is going well.

BG I feel for you, we're clearing out my mum's house at the moment (she's moving and there's a lot of our old stuff there) and now we have to fit it in our tiny house somehow and there's just no way.

We got DD's feet remeausred a couple of weeks ago and in all this time she's only gone up half a size from 4 to 4.5. A friend passed on a couple of pairs of barely-used shoes in exactly her size which was great Grin I can't believe that toddler shoes cost £32 per pair in Clarks Shock

DD's favourite word is no! She says it very cutely with a french accent ("non!") and to everything whether or not she really means yes. She can say yes too, but has copied me and more usually says "Yeah!" instead She has also just started saying "allright?" as it seems I say that a lot too Blush They are little sponges at this age. Thank goodness DH made me stop swearing when he did.

DD seemsShe tells me when she's done a poo ("poo poo - nappy") and is right about half the time. She put three words together for the first time last week - "hot tea Grandpa". My mum and I were practically dancing round the kitchen.

I really must go I have a friend due round in 15 mins and (surprise surprise) I'm not dressed yet.

Happy Friday to all!

BabyGiraffes · 26/08/2011 12:26

dd2 has started talking to one of dd1's imaginary friends... Grin (Yes, she has several Confused)

PenguinArmy · 26/08/2011 16:04

I've just been going through some of the clothes we were given (second hand but got left in the UK) with DD. There is 3-6month stuff that goes up to 8kg Shock The tops fit her. Am separating out all the unisex and girl stuff.

Not as shocked as I was going through the newborn bag and seeing the early baby babygro's she was in to start with. Can't believe see was ever that small

PenguinArmy · 26/08/2011 17:40

In another blast to the past, DD has had 3 naps today (although I think two of them were only 30 mins, this one is coming up to that).

StoneBaby · 26/08/2011 18:54

BG Grin at your DD2 speaking to your DD1 imaginary friends

PA 3 naps Shock. Are you looking thorugh newborn clothes to get ready for Nigel?

To go back onto the pink/blue clothes conversation, I think UK is very onto those 2 colours as when I go to France they seem o have more colourful clothes with babies. A friend of mine was surprised when I offered her newborn DDa brown dress and orange top that I bought in France for her! Hmm

BabyGiraffes · 27/08/2011 13:53

[dons chef's hat, gets out lentils to try ICs recipe, realises has neither pie dish nor pastry, shrugs shoulders, puts lentils away and gets out frozen quorn pies... Blush ] LOVE the sound of the lentil pies but have to get my act together first Wink

dd2 says ja/yes and nein/no. For yes she often does an impatient 'ja, ja, ja', as in 'stop going on about it mama!' Grin I think she gets this from dh who rarely listens properly and then complains I never tell him anything Hmm

PA Could it be that your dd's shoes are the wrong width fitting for them to fall off so easily? Clarks are generally very good on customer service and if I were you I'd take them back for a second opinion and re-fitting.
Must admit I have only bought a few pairs for my two full price. I tend to get their feet measured at Clarks and then buy on ebay, either new or used. At this age they grow out of shoes so quickly that I've had some barely worn ones for both girls. And it's always worth keeping an eye on the Clarks sales. I got the cutest pair of while shoes for dd2 a few weeks ago for £7 (new price £28).
Having said that, I just had to pay £28 for dd1's first school shoes in plain black (school is very particular about no patterns etc.). Knowing dd1 they will last her a day and come back scuffed at the front... Angry

PenguinArmy · 27/08/2011 14:06

I think it's both BG and also they didn't have small ones in stock so wanted to give something. I will find a store in Oxford and re-do it. Figure may as well keep them for her to grow into.

We are on our 4th nap already today, all 30mins so far. I'm assuming she's a bit unwell. Was hot and unsettled (waking every 60-90mins) last night with some blocked nose (but it comes and goes).

BabyGiraffes · 27/08/2011 14:14

PA oh dear, poor baby! Hope sleeping lots (at night too, fx) will help her get better. Good luck on the move, too.

PenguinArmy · 27/08/2011 15:33

thanks, we're now on nap 5 (last one was an hour, but I'm not doing anything and just resting, whilst trying not to feel guilty about it)

BabyGiraffes · 27/08/2011 18:13

Never trust a toddler wielding a toothbrush... dd2 just managed to jab me in the eye with hers

PenguinArmy · 27/08/2011 18:18

DD now refuses to bathe unless she has hers, although I think it's less she likes brushing her teeth (which she does) and more it's a sneaky way to drink/slurp the bath water. I often let her 'brush' mine as well which has led to some injuries.

Home made wedges, bean burgers and peas for dinner tonight. I should make a little salsa to go with it as burgers can be dry.

BabyGiraffes · 27/08/2011 18:53

I made a few of her cuddly toys say goodnight to her, using different voices (eg very deep for the large teddy bear). She was totally captivated!! Grin

Meant to ask, anyone else struggling to get their LO dressed in the mornings because they think it really is quite unnecessary and they'd rather play? I have started dressing her in her cot and changing her nappy later. That way she can't escape Wink.

We had pizza tonight with pesto, potatoes (well, left over mash from last night), onions, and lots of garlic and cheese. Very nice.
