Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I found a really good park today, it has a toddler section that is fenced off so I could even sit down on a bench for a few minutes. Then we had a stand off as she wanted to be carried, refused to walk or get in the buggy. I was actually rather calm as I forced strapped her in.

StoneBaby · 24/08/2011 17:02

I hate the pink/blue thing! DS was offered one pale blue outfit when newborn and he worn it once when we visited those people Blush I like blue but not the pale one.
I agree that the design on the link are not the best. The one at nursery are navy blue and red. Amazon also sell some. (useful as they don't charge for postage if they sale it themselves).

It's bathtime now. I'll be back later

PenguinArmy · 24/08/2011 17:33

I think she's spent half her waking time today crying and we've possibly just had our first tantrum because I dared to get her down from the table

StoneBaby · 24/08/2011 18:19

Pheew, tonight has been without any major meltdowns. DS for the last 2 nights was just screaming/tantruming as soon as he was put in his highchair, refusing to eat anything. Tonight he agreed to seat in it, and eat a bit of the rice/courgette dish and some bread. But we had a big tantrum this morning before going to nursery, then outside of nursery. I think most of the tantrums are pure frustration as he wants things and I do not know what they are! Hopefully he'll speak a real language soon and all those misunderstanding will pass.

I'm actually pleased to know they're all having those tantrums (sorry Blush ) as it shows me that the problem is not him.

StoneBaby · 24/08/2011 18:23

PA Those puddle suit are even less expensive + for some there's no postage

StoneBaby · 24/08/2011 19:07

mous how are you feeling? Just saw your post on FB and wondered if your DH helped you

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 24/08/2011 19:25

PA I think mine were regatta but an old model, bleu and red (5 years ago!).
SB fine, waving back from wonderful holidays in bulgaria wilderness (we avoided the package holidays spot!)

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 24/08/2011 19:26

Just bought the uniforms for DD1 (spooky and penniless!) Wink

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 24/08/2011 19:27

spooked and penniless! Blush

StoneBaby · 24/08/2011 19:37

mous glad to hear that you're better.

SconesForTea · 25/08/2011 10:29

Morning everyone, I'm back from a few days at my mum's which was lovely and also quite bizarre in terms of DD's sleep. She took to waking at 8 or 8.30 Shock, having a 2-our nap in the morning Shock and then we had to wake her at an hour and a half from the afternoon nap or we'd have done nothing all day! Shock Shock It didn't last though - Tuesday night she was up from 12.30am to 3am and boy did I feel it yesterday after a few good nights Hmm She's napping at the moment so I wonder how long it'll last...

It MUST NOT RAIN I have three loads of washing to get on the line.

I should get DD a rainsuit, for some reason she's taken against the raincover on her buggy and so at the moment if it's raining we either stay in, go out and she gets soaked Hmm or I put down the cover and she screams the entire time (i.e. half hour walk anywhere from here). Will check out your links in a mo!

I have to say I hate pink - for little girls or for me or just as a colour. I've always preferred blue and I love red. But DD has loads of pink clothes as that's all people seem to want to buy (there is other stuff out there! But you have to look for it).

DD turned 18m exactly this week, I can't get over how quickly the time has flown by.

I suppose I should get dressed, I just had to open the door to the window cleaners in my PJs.

Bearcrumble · 25/08/2011 11:55

I agree, I'm not that taken with pink everything for girls - especially for some reason those barbie bikes covered in glitter and tassels, you know the ones I mean? Vile.

I had a scan yesterday and there is a heartbeat and it measures within 2 days of what I think the date of conception is so it seems that I am currently properly pregnant. I have a bit of morning sickness which I never had with DS - it's not so bad that I'm actually puking but feeling nauseous and retching now and again.

Had a nice day out at the london transport museum on Monday and a wildlife park in Kent on Tues.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 25/08/2011 13:47

Ooh, Bc, good news! (not the retching, the scan)

Good to hear from you Mous!

Scones what topsy turvy sleep, no wonder you're slightly discombobulated by it! This showery weather is a total arse for drying washing, isn't it??! I've lost count of the times I've hung and re-hung the laundry....

Night before last was a sleep-through after the minor bedtime histrionics. Last night DD went down without a problem, squawked a little bit at around 02.30, but went quiet without parental intervention. DH and I were both restless - we'd had friends over for dinner so I think we'd over-eaten and drunk too close to bedtime. DD didn't help matters by waking for the day at 05.45. We left her until 06.00, but it was clear she had no intention of going back to sleep.
Consequently she was crochety on and off all morning, then almost fell asleep in her high chair at lunch - which is a first. FX she's in a better mood this afternoon.

BG how's it going, are you back yet?

Good hol, BBB?

bethy?

BabyGiraffes · 25/08/2011 14:25

Hi I am back [waves]. Got back Tuesday and went from 34 degrees and very high humidity at my parents to Stansted where it was 13 degrees and pouring with rain... To be honest, I actually prefer it here (although have the same problem getting washing dry).

We spent most of yesterday trying to fit the furniture of our 'spare' house in the Midlands into our own home Confused. We gave away/sold beds, cots and sofa but are still left with several chests of drawers, blanket boxes, a single bed, kitchen table and chairs, shelves.... And I won't ever be short of crockery, cutlery, coffee machines, pots and pans, kettles etc Grin. It was our second home for the past ten years, so was fully kitted out. Fx new tenant will move in next week... Smile Now we just have to collect the washing machine because new tenants have their own Hmm so we'll have two of those in our house, too Grin.

Agree with the pink discussion. dd1 was born strawberry blonde and pink really clashed. Was really grateful to find a totally non-pink clothes bundle for her on ebay at one point.

BC Great news on the scan and apparently morning sickness is a good sign

PA good luck with your move

mous feel your pain re cost of school uniform! I never had one as a child and was quite shocked until dh pointed out that dd1 is going to wear little else during the week.

Waving again, will catch up more later when dd1 is not trying to jump on me on the sofa...

PenguinArmy · 25/08/2011 14:33

Pink and blue only clothes are much more prevalent over here. I'm glad we stocked up before we left. My mum commented the other day because she was in a pink dress and we have had a lot of comments from people about her clothes, generally because I like the bright stuff, whereas here a lot of things seem to be quite pale and mute.

Think I'll order the puddlesuit once we've moved. Been lucking out the past few days. Airshow is on at the moment so we walked along the promenade this morning before it got too busy. Her new favourite word is 'see-saw' :)

BC so glad you came and updated us. Have been thinking of you.

BG hope you get it sorted in time.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 25/08/2011 15:11

Welcome back, BG!!
Got any spare bookshelves? We just pulled a few boxes out of PILs' attic..... Grin

PA DD loves saying "see-saw" as well - except it comes out "see-soah-or".

2.5hr nap so far - think I'm going to give DD another 5 mins then see about gently rousing her.... I'm not surprised, she was obviously tired this morning, bless her....

InmaculadaConcepcion · 25/08/2011 15:12

PS tantrums any better today, SB?

StoneBaby · 25/08/2011 18:52

IC the evil twin was back in his box today! Grin My lovely baby toddler is back, he ate all his dinner. Nursery was concerned as he didn't have a second serving at lunchtime! Now I know why he's not that bothered by dinner!!!

DS did the 'cutest' thing today: he had a runny nose, so he went to the box of tissues, pulled one and wiped his nose Shock then gave me the tissue to finish. If I say 'souffle' (blow) he blows with his mouth Smile

Went out for lunch with a colleague today and as we had a busy week, we treated ourselves with a Pimm's Blush it was a lovely day and we could have stayed there all afternoon!

BBB Good holidays?

BG welcome back

bc great news about the scan. FX it all goes fine. Have you told anybody in RL?

StoneBaby · 25/08/2011 18:53

I've ordered the puddlesuit from Amazon. Now need to sell the splash suit...

LittlebearH · 25/08/2011 19:37

DD had 10 mins nappy free today as her "fairy" is sore. Think teething poos casued it. Anyway was standing on ktchen floor (thank goodness) and she looked down and said "wee wee!!!" and sure enough she had wee'd. I was v.impressed! Anyway got to run, got councelling now. Spent too much time reading!

PenguinArmy · 25/08/2011 19:40

we just had a two poo bath day!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 25/08/2011 20:57

Just had a two post-bath poo day Grin

Nice nose-wiping, SB!

Ha ha, good one LBH! Next step is when you get a two-second warning too... Smile

Not surprisingly, DD was far sunnier after her long nap and was a very pleasant companion in IKEA when I went on a picture frame-buying mission. She also ate pretty much her entire bowl of lentil and veg pie (with the magic ingredient of cheesy pesto sauce) and sauteed potatoes at supper. Hoorah, because we'd had a couple of tricky meals, so it was very heartening.

BabyGiraffes · 25/08/2011 21:01

Ha ha ha, dd2 had a seven poos in one day day yesterday! Was grateful though it was the day after we travelled back to the UK. Would not have fancied driving from Stansted all the way to Wales with a stinky baby! Grin

BabyGiraffes · 25/08/2011 21:06

IC sorry, dd2 claimed the remaining shelf for her room, along with a wardrobe... Mind you, we are a book heavy household and recently covered an entire wall with IKea shelves, and are already out of space again Hmm

SB also impressed with the nose wiping. dd2 is very fond of baby wipes and likes to clean things... a lot. When I went for a haircut and left her with my parents she spent a long time wiping down an ancient collection of smurfs Grin. Well, it kept her busy and they ended up very clean Grin

BabyGiraffes · 25/08/2011 21:11

LBH interesting choice of word for girl bits Smile. One of my friends also uses it with her children. dd1 has chosen her own word 'Maedchen', which is just the German word for girl, but she uses it to refer to her girl bits, as in 'her Maedchen is sore'. I think it is really sweet.
