I have just had some fantastic news - a friend who has been trying for a baby for about five years has just got her first ever BFP! Am so over the moon for her. She also HATES her job and got offered a fantastic new job on Monday, and has another interview today! Great news. Sorry, just had to share with someone!

Chulita · 04/08/2011 11:46

woodlands that's really great for your friend! Let's hope her little bean treats her kindly so she's not whacked round the side of the head with ms and a new job!

tsc 4 hourly is good for sure, if he wasn't in your bed you might actually get some sleep. As it is though, seeing as he can smell your sleep-training scent, there ain't no chance. Fingers crossed he gets better quickly so at least you can get back to normal, as odd as that might be.

All I want to eat is salt and vinegar french fry/crispy things. I seriously can't stomach the thought of anything else. Is there anything around that tastes like salt&vinegar crisps but isn't? and isn't a snack-a-jack? (I can't stand those after living off them for 4 months with L)

S has cried pretty much all day (again) and I'm sick to the back teeth of it. Not sure if it's teething or over-tiredness or what but with the rain, me feeling sick and his crying I'm about to hit something.

Yea, might be worth a try, I just think soggy popcorn if I pour vinegar on it! When I was about 12 I remember Asda selling vinegared salt, that's the stuff I need :)

It's quiet without cake today isn't it?!

MelissaM · 04/08/2011 18:41

Chul I so know how you feel. Day started off badly and has got progressively worse. Took over 2 hrs to get Lucas' prescription sorted out and I ended up paying for half privately. E pushed L over and when I took her to sit on the step she hit me in the face so I put her in her room. When I went to get her out she had drawn over her wall with felt pen (not a nice washable crayola one)

CakeandRoses · 04/08/2011 18:41

Ha - glad to see I'm being missed! I am reading all your posts but haven't had time to post myself.

I am soo loving work. As I texted mlic earlier, i can not believe I'm being paid to sit on my arse and drink tea, in peace!!

i am getting a tad frustrated with the ridiculous so-called IT 'help'desk's sendig me on goosechase's just to get my godamn LAN fixed but I'm prepared to pay that price just to not sweep a floor for a whole day!

Does it have to be vinegar then chul? salted popcorn not hit the spot?

you feeling any better tsc?

mlic was it 'my' brownies? i don't remember giving you the recipe. how did they turn out? you have to have brownies with hot choc sauce and ice cream imo. illegal otherwise.

'meat'balls and spaghetti for dinner - yum!

Just a quick pop my head in as trying to sort tea and bedtime, L was unsettled in the night just unhappy, but he has been happy all day for my mum filled nappy after nappy it apparently stank, my sister said it would be the injections cause it,so glad that I was at work!
DH just walked in with a big bunch of flowers for me, now he is showering before we put L to bed, A job has come up at local funeral directors I think im going to go for it, its flexable and part time advising families on arrangments, its a biiig company so chance to develop a real career in the field I really want to be in, so tomorrow will be dusting off my CV and doing something to make me sound like they need me even though Ive only worked for my mum for past few years

MelissaM · 04/08/2011 18:52

Sounds exciting re job memph

cake after 3 weeks back at work I'm still being sent on wild goose chases by IT

WRT L's op, I think it will be funny if I end up having to take the time off they wouldn't let me have for E starting school Grin

CakeandRoses · 04/08/2011 19:16

That sounds great memph. Let me know if you need any help with your CV. I often give friends a hand with theirs as I worked in recruitment many moons ago plus have recruited (and therefore seen tons of good and bad CVs) for many jobs over the years Smile

That would be a poke in the eye for them melissa Grin

Just paying our nursery bill, it is £748 per month Shock. pure madness.

sorry xposted with your first post melissa, sounds a horrid day Sad. sounds a step forward re the gromits tho. did you say L is already dairy-free?

mlic The £748 is for only 2 days a week (each) so is v expensive compared to yours then! I'm lucky to make enough to make it worthwhile but it's helped because they're not in childcare the whole 20 hours i'm working iyswim?

MalibuStac · 04/08/2011 20:06

Well done A! What is classed as proper walking babies? R walked from the settee to the tv about 6 feet does that mean she can walk? [Blush] can't remember with jack.

memphgood luck with the job

tsc are you in for something? Glad f's on the mend.

Sorry all will have to re-read, dp being a wanker!

Woodlands · 04/08/2011 20:06

Yes, I'm lucky in that for my three days a week I'll be taking home somewhere around £1100 (not sure exactly) and the nursery bill is 'only' £440 or so, which will all be tax free in the form of childcare vouchers. This is why I want a three year age gap between children! Luckily my mum is looking after him for some of the time I work - it was the first time today. J was pretty unhappy after his jabs yesterday, clingy and off his food so he wanted lots of BFs. That is the advantage of working from home and having flexible childcare - I could be there for him and still do my work!

Congratulations on the walking A! Clever girl!

How many non-walking babies are there? J for one...

memphis83 · 04/08/2011 20:22

cakes before I was ill I worked up in a shop as a sales assistant up to management in the head office, I was the quickest person up the ladder in the company, I won awards for service to the customer and all that, the problem is one stroke and one baby later I work part time for my mum, I know that much that breaks in a CV dont look good, I dont think I will get it and the big problem is im worried that I will fail at interview or even worse not get as far as an interview and that will send me on a slippery slope of depression!
childcare at the lovely nursery here is £39 a day, im hoping that it will fall so I could still do a day for my mum on top of a job and being a funeral home their busiest day is a monday after being shut all weekend so my mum could have him that day then that would only be 2 days childcare.

CakeandRoses · 04/08/2011 20:50

thanks everyone! I feel inordinately proud - like she's the first baby who ever walked Hmm and she's not even MY first baby who walked.

memph it's how you spin it and imo, almost everything can be spun. do they need to know exactly who you work for, what you do or how many hours for instance? and the fact you had a super-quick career progression and won awards is still there. get yourself into the interview and 'gaps' won't matter at all.
