CRANR My DS has also been refusing to go back in his moses basket recently - generally after his first night time feed or during the day. He is OK in it when he first goes to bed in the evening. Not sure what the reason is, maybe he just finds me or my bed more comfortable?! DH and DS were in the spare room all night last to give me a break and he went back to sleep in his basket after each feed with no fuss. Maybe it's something that I'm doing?! Confused

I like your username, I had to go to the library this week to get some books of nursery rhymes because I couldn't remember any to sing to DS!

No period here and DS is 13.5 weeks and I am mix feeding. Smile that it hasn't come back yet but I'm worried that it is going to come back when I'm not expecting it, I was always very regular before so it's a bit weird not knowing when it's going to arrive. I had no idea that they didn't come back for so long, to be honest I was expecting them to start 4 weeks after the birth.

We're going to BIL's wedding this weekend - 2 nights in a hotel which will be first time we have taken DS to a hotel. We normally use ready to use formula cartons for top-ups but I have been practising with powder formula and a thermos flask of hot water in case there is no fridge in our room. I have packed 2 entire wedding outfits for me because we have had a couple of poo leaking on our clothes incidents recently but hopefully my first outfit will last a bit longer than the church service Wink. DS's outfit was a little harder. I found that the best baby outfits start at 3 months but he was very small at birth and is still less than 11lbs and only just going into 0-3 month clothes despite being 3 months old. I did manage to find some slim fitting 1 month size chinos in M&S and a little 2-4 month shirt in H&M. Hopefully they will last longer than just the church service too Grin!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 27/08/2011 07:49

79Monica - aww that outfit for DS sounds lovely :)
I hope you have a lovely night away!

Our Moses basket has gone in the garage - DD NEVER goes in it but she is getting a little big in it. Can't believe DS was in for 4 months!!

motherofsnortpigs · 03/09/2011 22:52

O this group is getting so sleepy...

I went shopping today so I now have a pair of jeans in a normal person fitting, rather than still wearing my maternity clothes.

I also took a risk on some feeding bras from H&M - will report back on their usefulness. The Mothercare ones I had for DS1 are just too small. I think after the scare of pre-term labour due to being under-nourished, I 'piled on loads of weight. I need to keep the weight on, really so I can feed DS2 and still have plenty of energy for living my life. Actually, I have stupid amounts of energy. DH went to bed exhausted from our day out. I'm only suffering from chaffed hips from trying on so many pairs of jeans in quick succession.

Monica I have never dressed DS2 in anything other than vests and sleepsuits. But I do love baby boy clothes - they look like miniature men. Which reminds me DS1 wet through his trousers while we were out and they are still in the changing bag. How was the wedding?

SSD Don't namechange, Super Sunny Day always makes me smile and fill me with hope.

I thought I had nits last week, but after careful examination, I think it is just the sensation of my hair falling out - nice!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 04/09/2011 07:55

MOSP - am seeing the NCT bra fitter on Tuesday, so am getting some new bras then. Last time I checked my local H&M didn't have a maternity section.
Have spent a week in Blackpool, as some of might know!
Been great, dd slept well and she seemed entranced by the fishes at the sealife centre, kept watching them intently and cooing lots Smile
Fed her al over the place no probs, and had loads of people going "ahh" at her in the sling. DS also had loads of fun, he went on quite a few rides at the Pleasure beach with me, DH and DSS.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingMind · 04/09/2011 09:28

When DS was a baby we went to a zoo and there was a woman walking around bfing what was obviously DC3 (2 older ones running ahead). I remembered thinking something like She's keen! and I'd never manage that. Cue yesterday walking around the glass houses at the botanical gardens, bfing DD. Turns out I'm that keen too (to not sit for half an hour outside in the cold on wet seats)!

TabithaTwitchet · 04/09/2011 21:37

Hello, can I join in (late as usual)? I was a very very occasional poster on the antenatal threads.
DD2 is now 12 weeks - where did the time go?
Don't usually get much chance to post, but DH is away on business for the next 10 days (eek!) and so I feel in need of a bit of adult "conversation" after a day of DD1s prattle and DD2s screaming.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 05/09/2011 08:41

Welcome Tabitha! My DD is also 12 weeks, where does the time gone!

motherofsnortpigs · 05/09/2011 10:08

confessions the reason I didn't try bras on in the shop was that DS2 was feeding. Sorry to report that the H&M bras are too small. I think the straps are a bit too stretchy as well, so I'll get my money back and go to John Lewis on Thurs. Percy has jabs today. Going to get into town soon for the PO and new tap shoes for DD1. Shall I count how many times I'm told I've got my hands full? :)

79monica · 06/09/2011 18:50

Wedding was lovely thanks. DS looked very smart in his outfit and managed not to poo or be sick on it. The photographer seemed quite captivated by him and there are quite a lot of photos of DS in the wedding album online! He did get a bit hot by the end of the meal though so ended up losing an item of clothing each time I went to change him and by the night do was just in a vest sleeping peacefully in the arms of various great aunities while me and DH had a chance to do a few moves on the dance floor Smile

KaraStarbuckThrace · 06/09/2011 20:58

Ahh glad you had a good time!!

HalleLouja · 07/09/2011 07:12

Dd is 15 weeks tomorrow I can't believe next week is her last jabs. Am also having my smear. Happy days.

nomoreheels · 08/09/2011 14:07

Hi everyone, haven't been on here in ages... life is quite hectic with mini me. :)

She's 16 weeks now and started teething a week ago. It's been really, really hard as she's very grouchy in the day, and started waking every 2-3 hours again for a feed or cuddles. The poor mite is struggling, I'm doing what I can to make her comfortable with Nurofen, teething powders, gel and a Sophie the Giraffe teether toy, but sometimes she just has to have a good wail (along with lots of fist chewing, ear tugging and drooling!)

She loves watching Waybuloo, it's very sweet watching her laugh and coo at it. It's part of our morning routine - I set her up in her baby bouncer with an episode (thank goodness for catch up TV!) and it gives me time to make a much needed coffee.

DP got her a talking De Li plush doll and she loves it - it's great for cheering her up when she's grumbling. Amazing how much she can take in and recognise at such a young age!

She's got a very healthy appetite but doesn't seem that satisfied with milk, so I'm going to start introducing baby porridge and a few veg purees once she's 4 months. If she's not keen I'll leave it til 5/6 months though.

We're getting ready to fly to Canada in a few weeks for my sister's wedding. I think I'm prepared - been doing lots of research on the best ways to do things - but it will be a challenge to be on my own. Unfortunately DP can't come with me, although he'll help me get to the airport etc. We haven't got a car which isn't ideal, so we'll be getting there via taxi and then rail. Fun fun!

Right now the thing that I crave most of all is sleep. Even 6 hours uninterrupted would be bliss. I do all the nights (with the very odd exception) as DP is freelance and is working from home every day. Unfortunately he has lots of clients on at once - good for the money, but tough to juggle.

Anyhow I'm going to go back through this thread and have a read. Hope everyone is ok.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 08/09/2011 20:58

Hey nomoreheels
Glad things are well, sympathise. on the tiredness, my DD is 12 weeks and has yet undergone another growth spurt, there is one at 16 weeks and 20 weeks so that may be why your dd is feeding more?
A lot of us have defected to FB as easier posting, and sharing pics. If you PM NurseSunshine or Moomin they will be able to add you if you use FB.

motherofsnortpigs · 10/09/2011 21:02

Glad the wedding was fun monica

NMH Teething is horrid. And it goes on and on. At least you've spotted the problem. I am the dippy kind who wonders why the baby is so cranky and then they cut a tooth. DS1 has nearly all his teeth now, but DD1's have started falling out - at least she can communicate clearly, but by heck is she a whinger!

I've never flown long-haul with a baby in tow, but have done short flights. I think my worst memory of taking the snortpigs away was realising that DD2 had filled her nappy and her tights just as they were calling us to board. I headed for the gate with DD1 whilst DH dealt with the nappy. Stupid, stupid disposable nappies.

I took the bras back and had a fitting at John Lewis. Super, amazing new fitted bras for me now. I am very happy.

DS2 is now 13 weeks and full of cold. He was so snuffly last night that I let him sleep in bed with me so that he would actually sleep (and so could DH). Unfortunately, I'm not cut out for co-sleeping and consequently was awake for quite a lot of the night. DH has the same cold so is feeling worse than I do. I have a tiny sore throat that I don't have time for :)

ConfessionsOfAWareFanjo · 11/09/2011 22:27

NMH tiny babies a far easier to fly with than mobile babies/toddlers. I flew long haul with DS a few times before his first birthday and each flight got harder and harder as he became more mobile. the worst one was when he was 11 months and walking. He really REALLY didn't like having to stay put for 30 something hours! Just pack several changes of clothes, nappies etc as it's amazing how many more they go through when you can't get to your bag. Oh and feeding during take of and landing helps their ears pop with out hurting to much.

Yay for properly fitted bras MOSP

misshoohaa · 15/09/2011 17:57

Hi all,
I haven't been on for ages as it seemed the thread had taken a backseat to Facebook but pleased to see a few people back on here!

nomoreheels keep us updated on how the flight goes! Me and junior are off to Australia in a few weeks so interested in any tips to make it easier! I'm dreading doing it solo but DH will be there for the return journey so least I get the bad bit over with first!

DS is now 13 weeks and just a complete darling, so smiley and a pleasure to look after. He has got harder to feed now his vision is better, i think the distraction of seeing things is just too much! But all in all thriving. I've also made the decision not to return to work, very lucky that my husband is a Scrooge and we've saved enough to keep us going (barely) till 2013! Things will be tight but I'm very keen to be a stay at home mummy so will be watching the purse strings to make sure we manage - ive found shopping online is a great money saver as I don't get tempted by the offers and treats. Those get 3 for 2 offers are nasty and I often end up with things I don't even need!

Right best go get the little fella bathed!

motherofsnortpigs · 17/09/2011 09:06

Hi misshoohaa So glad you're able to stay at home with your DS. I've been at home full time since DD1 was a baby and I love it. We have to be a bit careful with our money, but that's ok.

Well, inevitably DS1 caught the snots this week. He's been so poorly, but so brave.

My parents have been around the past few weeks, which has been great. They take the DDs with them to stay in hotels nearby. Only having the 2 boys to take care of seems so easy!

WiiUnfit · 19/09/2011 21:14

Hello ladies!

Well, DS is 15 weeks on Wednesday & has started doing 6 / 7hr sleep stretches from about 9am onwards which is bliss! And he did his first full on giggle last week which had DP & I in fits of laughter, it was so cute!

misshoohaa, DS is also a lot harder to feed now he can see, he likes to follow his Daddy round the room with his eyes... taking my nipple with him!

Erm, here comes a first-time Mum question... after childbirth can your periods be rather irregular? I was due on on Saturday and nothing. I POAS just to make sure, it came back BFN but I'm worried! Confused

How are you all doing?

Aloha31 · 27/09/2011 09:03

Been a while - DD after starting off so well started sleeping badly at night, sue to teething! She is better now but seems to wake out of habit a few times (she only feeds once between 7-7). Seems she has forgotten how to self settle at night - any advice? Think she may be addicted to Nelson's Teetha granuals??! Want her to settle without my having to give her any, or a dummy which I then spend all night replacing. We only introduced the dummy to put teetha gel on, and she really doesn't need one to sleep.

She rolled onto her tummy for the first time yesterday!

jimper · 30/09/2011 21:11

Hello!

I wondered where everyone had gone - I didn't realise there was a post natal thread! I posted on the ante one when I had the chance - trying to catch up!

DD was born 9th June, weird experience - very quick initially but pushing for hours - forceps, stitches etc. Have finally regained full bladder control Grin!

Poor DD had a tough time though. Bleed in brain and various feeding problems. Gutted that I had to FF. She also has Delayed Visual Maturation, and is a bit behind everyone else, but is so darling. Happy wee girl now.

Moved back overseas when she was around 11 weeks, and she has just had her first vaccinations today (not such a happy wee girl!).

Anyway, she sleeps 12 hours a night with one feed in the middle - and has been rolling over from tummy to back for a while now. Loves her Jolly Jumper!

Hope all is well for everyone else :)

nomoreheels · 03/10/2011 16:00

Hi all, just reporting on the flight with DD. Overall it went pretty well, I was on Air Transat so cattle class, but the staff were very helpful and even moved me to an empty row they realised they had, so I could spread out all of our stuff.

I could not have done it without my baby bjorn sling as nappy changing and using the loo would have been impossible alone otherwise.

She did scream for a bit after takeoff due to cabin pressure pain. I did my best to boob and bottle feed her to help ease the pain but she was clearly uncomfortable for the next day or so (lots of ear grabbing & pulling, different to when she is teething.) And while I was of course glad she couldn't run around, it was still tiring as she wanted to be kept amused all the time and wanted to stand supported etc. She was very well behaved overall though, and other passengers were kind and interested in her.

The flight was 7 hours but by the time you added the early check in (3 hours early), the wait at customs and the fact I'd already been up with her since 5 AM, it was a very long day.

I also hadn't thought much about baby jet lag - it's really hard and the best advice I could give would be to line up some childcare when you arrive so you don't have to manage it alone and can rest. I thought DD would sleep through because she was so tired, but although she went down well at around 8 pm local time, she woke up at 2:30 am and would not get back to sleep. I had to get up and make her porridge, and play with her - all on just a couple of hours of sleep. I then had to look after her all day save for a two hour break when my mum took her - but it wasn't long enough, and I was too wired to fall asleep. Sad

I don't think I could do a very very long haul alone, but wish those of you lots of luck - just be sure to ask for lots of help from the cabin crew!

nomoreheels · 03/10/2011 16:08

PS I haven't done the flight home yet, which is red eye/overnight in a few days' time... not looking forward to it but DP has promised to take her for a couple of days once we're back so I can rest.

ConfessionsOfAWareFanjo · 10/10/2011 00:05

Hey Jimper. Good to hear from you. So sorry that your little girl has had a rough start to life though. Really hope that things go well for her going forward.

Most of us have jumped ship for a private fb group, which you can join by contacting either Nursesunshine or milliemuffin. xx

CuppaTeaJanice · 03/11/2011 11:35

Hi to all you Jue in June ladies, I hope you and your babies are all doing well.

I just wanted to let you know (if anyone is still reading this thread!!) that I have finally caught up with you - DD was born in the early hours of tuesday morning. Her birth was so much easier than DS's, although there was a bit of panic when one of her shoulders got stuck and the delivery room was suddenly flooded with various medical bods. Not surprising really as she was nearly 10 and a half pounds!!! Grin
