ooh and is there a facebook group that I could perhaps sneak myself into? I'm a bit more adept at FB than MN!

Hi booberella, She sleeps in her moses basket with a blanket during the night and day time naps, once i've got her off she will stay asleep if the room is dark and quiet.

Yesterday we put her to bed upstairs at 8pm upstairs (with a movement sensor and her monitor on) and then came down stairs, she slept like a log but i was constantly going upstairs to check. I posted a question on the parenting forum asking at what age did people put their LO's to bed and leave them upstairs. Although the majority of people said 6 weeks was not too early someone mentioned that the SID guidelines was to always have them sleeping in the same room as you (something about "tiny changes in air pressure from your breathing stimulates their lungs or the sound of you breathing and moving around keeps them in a light sleep so they don't "forget" to breath"!) so now i'm not so sure! The only alternative is to sit in the dark not making a sound from 8pm onwards Hmm.

Has anyone else on here started to leave their LO's to sleep in another room?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/08/2011 18:35

Pearl I started from 7 weeks putting her down in our room upstairs, otherwise she was feeding all evening. Made no difference to her sleep at night. Daytime she naps mostly on me, or in the car - I usually manage to transfer in her bouncy chair as she wakes up if I put her in the moses basket. Think I will just get rid of the moses basket as she never goes in it and it is just taking up space.

pearl we're the other end of the scale, LO has been in his big cot in his own room since the beginning, our house is tiny but he's still in his own room and has been since day 2! None of us were getting any sleep, all light sleepers and for us this was the best option.

We have a monitor and respisense monitor on him and check on
Him loads.

Do whatever is right for you!

Zzzz Zzzz too tired to post properly!!

moomin156 · 11/08/2011 08:59

Morning all...... My DD has been in her own room for 5 weeks, since we moved house and had the option. Works better all round, she and us sleep better. We only have a normal monitor, we do check on her early evening but once we go to bed she is left until she wakes. She is now in a growbag which is fab. During the day she is in her pram.......she has always been able to settle herself off to sleep ( probably 5 weeks in NICU without cuddles to sleep helped)

Morning everyone, did you all had a good night? Hope you have a good day with your mum supersunny and get loads of rest/ things done.

I didn't try leaving her in the bedroom yesterday evening because the little minx just wouldn't go to sleep she was awake from 5.pm til 10.10pm with the exception of a couple of 15 min snoozes. We tried everything and i mean everything for 3 hours! i've made a serious rod for my own back and now she won't sleep without constant rocking Blush (i've got a right arm like popeye). I'm sure she's nipping out for red bull when i'm not looking Hmm! When she did sleep she slept for 7 hours poor mite was exhausted.

Aloha31 · 11/08/2011 12:06

Wow - hard to believe my DD is 2 months old already - seriously, does it seem like yesterday to anyone else that you were in the maternity hospital in awe that you had just given birth?!

Hope everyone is managing ok - we have our moments but I am learning! Best thing I have discovered is to watch for tired signs in the day and then put her down for a nap. Everyone is happier! Doesn't always work (I have an awful cold and at its peak I almost had a meltdown and couldn't settle her at all!) but getting there.

Trying to get her used to a bottle (of my breaskmilk) - anyone any tips?

booberella · 11/08/2011 13:07

try warming the teat- apparently they don't like cold teats! my cousin tried to get her LO to take a bottle of breastmilk when he was 6 weeks- he just would not take it no matter what she tried and still won't at 6 months old! she warned me and advised me to try my DD with a bottle sooner- I tried her at 3 weeks, no problems at all. Perhaps I am just one of the lucky ones!

moomin156 · 11/08/2011 13:16

aloha...perserverance, trying different teats and feed positions, different temps of milk. Just keep trying once a day........

aloha as others have suggested, just try different things. I'm going through this with DD2 at the moment. DD1 was able to switch between boob and bottle with no problem by 10 days, but this one seems resistant, so I've got to try every day, if I'm ever to have some semblance of a life in the next 6 months. It's such a faff when it ends up going down the drain because she's refused it, but I have to keep trying.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 12/08/2011 12:00

Me: DS, Just leave baby, she's sleeping.
DS about 30 seconds later. Bady's waking up
Me. That's bec ause you're annoying her
DS I just cuddling her
and on and on

Poor DD I'm surprised she gets any sleep during the day at all! I'm happy DS loves his little sister, but I really wish he would listen to me! Mind you I also wish DD would stay asleep while I carry her upstairs and put her in her basket Grin

Aloha31 · 12/08/2011 19:25

Thanks all.

LisasCat isn't is awful having to throw away expressed breastmilk?! It seems so precious!

moomin156 · 13/08/2011 07:31

Morning all hope you all have fabulous weekends with your lo.....how is the bottle feeding going? I think dd is starting to prefer the bottle to breast ..... But she is mainly ff fed now anyway. See how we go over the weekend

moomin156 · 15/08/2011 08:16

Well we are down to just one BF a day ( the first of the day) over the weekend we had 7pm battles of head flinging, pulling and arm waving and i just couldnt be bothered to fight anymore so last night she had a bottle before bed. Our little routine was out but she eventually went to sleep and had another feed at 11 and slept til 7 so im happy with that. Have a friend over for tea on thursday, i just hope she doesnt do the screaming and fighting sleep like she did last night. Its the first time in 21weeks that someone other than family will be here at her bedtime!!

Aloha31 · 15/08/2011 16:50

Moomin my DD is ok at bedtime but fights her daytime naps!

She has finally learned how to take the bottle though! I tried just putting it in her mouth for ages, and she wasn't happy - after a while I sat on the bed and bounced up and down - she must have liked the motion and started feeding from the bottle. She took a full 6oz from the bottle today, with me having to bounce only for the first 30 seconds!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 15/08/2011 22:04

Clearly persistance pays off!
I must admit I have been slack on the bottle front, I guess because tbh there is no real urgency for DD to take a bottle, I don't go out much and we don't have any baby sitters for if DH and I want to go out.
But need to do something to justify the money spent on the pump!

Being able to pump has saved my sanity! I have had 3 full nights sleep, been to the cinema twice and even been clubbing! Although it was a very sober clubbing night for me and I had to pump when i got home at 2.30am as I looked like Jordan. Hope it goes well for you SSD, how old is your DS?

Oh me too- anywhere that baby is coming with me it takes us about 2 hours to get ready to leave the house!! A quick coffee is now a day long event!

Aloha31 · 16/08/2011 20:13

Been 'one of those days' but DD went to bed no problem at least so feet up and glass of Wine (just one as will have to breastfeed in 5 or 6 hours)!

Hope everyone gets a bit of sleep tonight!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 16/08/2011 21:14

Clubbing!Shock Wow. We went for a 2 hour walk in the country on Sunday and I'm still recovering. Can't imagine being awake til 2.30, let alone being out and dancing.
