when i put ds in his 1st pair of shoes he fell over, he couldn't actually lift his foot at first.

Lucy won't be getting any till probably after xmas as she won't get outside to wear them over winter. She is almost taking steps but is a little wuss and as soon as she realises she has let go she sits down

mapletrees · 21/08/2011 15:54

There must be something in the air jodey.. For the first time ever, Louis refused point blank to eat any of his dinner last night. It was spag bol that he's had loads of times before, but he just kept spitting it all out. I tried him with some toast which he usually loves, but he only had a bit of crust before flinging the rest on the floor. Eventually I managed to coax him into eating a yoghurt and some rice pud but he wasn't even keen on that. I was hoping it was a one off but he was the same with his lunch today. We were out though and I felt really bad eating myself when he wasn't having anything so I offered him some of my (luckily unsalty) chips which he scoffed greedily had a bit of a nibble on.

I am so tired today, but for once it isn't Louis' fault. I went out last night on my friend's stag do Grin. The groom and a few of the other guys are old friends of mine and it was great to all get together again as we're all a bit spread out now. The lads (inc. DP) had all been paintballing during the day but I didn't want to leave Louis that long so I didn't join them. I'm quite glad now as they spent half the evening showing me the horrific bruises they'd all been left with. Ouch! DP has a good one on his neck that looks just like a hickey Grin

mapletrees · 21/08/2011 15:59

I've just realised that while I was typing that, Louis' snoring from the buggy has starting being echoed by DP who's having just a quick lie down on the sofa... Arrr Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 21/08/2011 17:33

I was going to say that luke won't walk on his own in his shoes and I was going to get them double checked but we all played out today and he walked off in his shoes chasing the other children so I guess it was just getting used to them.

lumpylumps · 21/08/2011 20:38

Comix Toby has a wheely bug! he absolutely loves it!

Cinnamon my friend has had another baby & moved house so wasn't able to carry on. I considered looking for another cm but with him being ready for pre school just thought it'd be easier to go to a nursery and him get used to 1 new place rather than 2!

MammyG wakes at 5.30, 7oz. breakfast. hour nap at 10ish. lunch at 12. hour nap at 2ish, 4oz when wakes. tea at 5pm. 7oz at 6pm bed by 6.30!

Newmum olly likes all veg. especially carrot. he does love pasta but neither of mine have ever been bothered by egg! he's not so good with bread but loves ritz crackers, bread sticks etc. All fruit. he likes anything with lots of sauce. curry etc and sausage is always a hit!

I've had a lovely couple of days with my mum, sil and 2 dns. It was lovely to be there without the boys cos I could play with them, cuddle & feed them without worrying about my 2. They had a nice time with their daddy so I didn't feel bad about leaving them!

MammyG · 21/08/2011 21:06

Thanks for replies ladies. Cinnamon is that just one nap so?
Phoebe is a little out of kelter some days and I think she is sleeping too much. She generally wakes between 7 and 8. Has a nap close to 11 and goes for another sleep at 2. I will have to shake this up a little tho as I need to pick her up from creche at 3.30 so would be better if she slept at 12.30 but that is a long morning for her!
Ditto on the food thing! My wonderful eater is fussing like mad yesterday and today. She doesnt have any teeth yet so possibly that. Also she is battling with texture. Too lumpy and it all comes up - too smooth and she looks at me like she wants to tell me she isnt a baby baby anymore! Wait it out I guess and see what happens.
The electricity went during the night last night and DS2 roared the house down as it was too dark. Made my way into their room to find lovely DS1 trying to find his way to us in the dark but got lost (bless) and not a peep out of him. Had to sleep in with ds2 for a while until it came back on. Had a crick neck this morning - but....DH took one look at me and cancelled cycling to send me back to bed (no prompting from me!) then woke me at 11 to say picnic packed and we all headed to the woods then the beach! Needless to say he is now back in the good books! I have to get my sleeping sorted this week to practice for back to work. Ugh!!!!

Dixiebell · 21/08/2011 21:31

Arlo wakes 6.30, BF then breakfast. Nap at 8/8.30ish for 1-2 hours. Sometimes mid-morning BF although he doesn't miss it if I don't offer it. Lunch at 12 and nap at 12.30 for another 1-2 hours although it has been known to go on for 3 hours! Tea at 5, BF before bed at 6.30.

Arlo has just learnt how to sit himself up from lying down! As he doesn't crawl yet he hasn't really worked out how to push himself up or kneel to stand, so was quite exciting. He's such a strong walker now if we hold his hand, but so fast he has no patience with trying to stand/walk on his own, just flings himself forwards and onto the floor! Also he can now point to his head when we say it, and identify the cat and birds in his book by pointing. He has no hair but somehow knows what his hairbrush is for as he picked it up and started using it earlier! He's a cutie Grin.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/08/2011 21:37

Sounds like allthese babies are doing what Luke was a month ago a I was paranoid it was milk related but sorted itself out. newmum001, Luke eats what we eat just chopped up, for finger foods he eats bread of every kind!, fruit, veg, not keen on meat (if not chopped up in food) but does eat sausage, he's not keen on pasta unless it's chopped up either so couldn't give it to him as finger food.

Yes just one nap MammyG, he stopped having 2 at about 9 months and it was a nightmare for a while as the first one was too short but he wasn't tired enough for a second. Now he has learned to sleep longer it's perfect.

Grrr... Moan alert!!! We went to my mums today, ds1 has been a pain in the arse all day. He was warned twice about pushing Luke with cushions when he finally pushed him over and lay on top of him making him cry. He was put in time out to which my
Mum said oh poor boy what have you done. Dh told her what he'd done and she said if he was mine he'd have had a smack, I don't believe in time out it's a load of rubbish- loud enough for ds1 to hear. It does work or I wouldn't bother, it upset me she thinks so little of my
Parenting skill but very annoyed she said it loud enough for him to hear!!

sassy34264 · 22/08/2011 04:48

well ive been awake since 3.20am and its now 4.35am. ive banished dp to chloes bed as she is at her dads and both babies are asleep- on and around me- but i am sat upright on the bed with no way of moving without disturbing them! damn.
decided to try aptimil's growing up milk tonight and jacob has puked his guts up. he couldnt swallow it down this time though as it was great big chunks of sweet potato and chicken breast- tmi- it stunk to high heaven!
gave him some water after the 1st time and isobel (who was awake by this time and in the care of dp managed to get hold of it and have some, 30mins later she is beung sick, albeit not nearly half as much. not sure if she would have anyway or whether it is bug from bottle?! [confuse]
took picture of them sleeping will stick it on facebook. that big green lump you can see is my bump! got on 4th outfit since he woke him, as nightie, dressing gown and towels all soiled. not sure dp will ever see me the same again after witnessing vomit chunks down my arm, cleavage and shoulder! god- who'd be a mum!!!! Grin

Debs75 · 22/08/2011 07:39

Oh Sassy I've been there too. TBH I prefer the covered in sick so you have to change as then you get it away from you. The smell though would have me puking as well. I hope they are feeling better tomorrow.

We have all got a cold so there is lots of sneezing and snotting going on. Lucy has been napping lots, especially if dp has her. DD2 is looking rough and me and dp feel awful. Am crossing fingers ds doesn't get it as he is at the playcentre today then at respite tomorrow and we caould all do with the break.

Lucy has almost mastered crawling. She can get around the house now by either cruising or a mixture of crawling/bum shuffling. She does try a proper crawl but gets a bit confused and goes back to bum shuffling

MorallyBankrupt · 22/08/2011 21:21

Hi :) I was in this group before I had DD but had a difficult birth and never really came on after I had her....

Anyway, DD is 10 months now (11 tomorrow) she is walking a little bit and is generally amazing, I am actually quite obsessed with how gorgeous she is Blush

The thing is now she is getting close to her birthday I feel really depressed thinking about it. I know it's crazy but she was 2 days early and I've always felt strangely depressed about her being early, like I failed her in some way. Maybe because DS was 2 weeks late and was this huge, healthy baby and DD has always been a lot smaller.

Does anyone else feel depressed now it's getting near their birthdays? Did anyone else have their baby a little bit early and feel strangely disappointed about it? I don't know what's wrng with me!

newmum001 · 22/08/2011 21:58

Hi morally, I wish grace had been a bit early! I went 6 days over and was sooo pissed off towards the end! However I could cry every time I think about her upcoming birthday, I'm not ready for my baby to be 1! Little bit about me, I have a dd called grace, she's 1 in 3 weeks. She crawls so fast and wants to play with everything she isn't allowed to play with, mostly plug sockets and the oven but only when it's switched on :s she certainly likes to keep me on my toes! She talks and babbles all day everyday and sometimes even in her sleep! We've just started giving her what we eat after initially weaning on jars (had big issues with her gagging and throwing up with anything slightly lumpy) she mostly eats well but sometimes prefers to throw everything over the side of her highchair! She has got quite a temper and will let everyone know it, usually when out in public :) I've got a feeling she's going to be quite a handful and I can't wait!

MammyG · 22/08/2011 22:19

Ah Sassy - poor you! I remember one night both boys ran temps and were vomiting. DH and I ended up sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the spare room with one of the boys in the cot bed and the other on a blow up bed cause they vomited (verb??) us out of all the beds!!
I swear I think if most singletons new the truth about labour/breastfeeding/babyrearing/motherhood the human race would just end!!

hi Morally Both my lads were overdue and huge and my little lady was tiny. I may just be a girl thing. All my friends tell me not to compare them as my boys were thumpers and girls are supposedly more petite! I wasnt depressed with DS1s first but definitely felt time was slipping by me too quickly. Its a bit conflicting - loving all the new things they are doing but not wanting them growing up too quickly!
Havnet even thought about what to do for phoebes birthday. Think I might have to defer it for 3 days to celebrate at the weekend. Luckily no-one here will notice!!

sassy34264 · 22/08/2011 22:50

debs i did have a nightie on, but it only has thin straps so it made it onto my skin. they both pucked again after i posted that message too! luckily mammyg none actually went on our bed. i just let them do it all over me! it was literally chunks rather than runny too- so that helped. Hmm
jacob has looked like death all day, but they've both eaten and played normally.
hi morally i had my twins 4weeks early and had a few problems, including isobel spending 12 hours in scbu and jacob needing to be rushed to resus for oxygen, but i dont blame myself. it maybe something i did, like not taking it easy etc, but i'll never know and its a never ending game if you start beating yourself up about everything thats not textbook. Smile
i have 3kids and im currently 7months pregnant. my eldest is chloe who is 11 a week tomorrow and starting high school the week after. i also have 1 yr old twins. they are the oldest on this thread but probably the littlest by the sounds of it! isobel can still fit in some 3/6 month stuff and jacob is mostly in 6/9months. i know what you mean about differences in sizes though as chloe was 9lb 12 born and was always a size bigger than her age. i think she was 98percentile for first 2 yrs whereas jacob is prob 50percentile and isobel 25-50 percentile. but chloe didnt walk until past her 1st birthday, jacob walked at 10months and isobel walked at 11months- so it doesnt mean much as far as i can see.Grin
speaking of walking- jacob has got over his alieness of shoes and is now walking in them- i should bloody hope so at £60 for 2 pairs!!!! christ i'll need a job just to keep them all in shoes for next few years! not a good month august- all three kid's birthdays, new shoes and chloe's high school uniform! how much for a kidney?! ha.

MorallyBankrupt · 23/08/2011 09:01

Hanks for the replies :) I don't know what it is, I always just feel like. Let her down, not making it to her due date.... Maybe I just feel idid better with DS.

She has always been 50th percentile whereas DS was 98th! Although she is already walking a little bit and he wasn't until pretty much his first birthday. So I guess they are just very different children.

Sassy I take my hat off to you! An 11 year old, twins and 7 months pg, you must be knackered!

lumpylumps · 23/08/2011 09:13

Sassy is Chloes birthday the 31st????? I didn't realise that. Same as Olly!

Morally was that your name when you were posting before? Ds1 was 9 days early and has always been small. he was 6lb 7oz at birth and now at 3yrs is only 27lb. he and Olly can share some clothes. Olly was 2 days early but 8lb. he didn't carry on like that tho and is now about the same as ds1 was. He still wears 3-6mth/6-9mth clothes. Your due date is not set in stone. Its only an estimation based on the size at scans. I'm convinced that Olly was actually late due to his size and dry skin!

I'm just sat here watching my boys playing together! ds1 is pushing a car & they're both chasing it! Its lovely to see. They get on so well together.

SeaChelles · 23/08/2011 09:16

Hi all,
Apologies for my absencelumpy ? I don?t know where all the days go?..I fell as though they all merge in to one at the minute! Barely had a minute to myself for the last 3 weeks! [tired emoticon]

Oliver is doing really well. He has been walking properly for the last month now and is nearly at running pace?.although everything is bloody running place with Oliver! Grin Going to have to bite the bullet and get him some shoes in the next two weeks as I?m really paranoid now that he is out in the garden at the child-minders etc. that he is going to stand on something sharp and hurt his foot.

He is over the croup now, however his eating hasn?t been the same since his throat was all swollen with it, which made him gag and throw up a few times. I think he is being cautious with whatever goes in to his mouth now?.
The worst at the minute though is his sleeping. He has woken every night for the last 2 and a half weeks now for anywhere between 1 and 2 hours. He never wakes at the same time and wakes up screaming - not crying or whimpering, actually screaming. We have no idea what is wrong with him. Could it be nightmares perhaps? Maybe his back teeth coming in? But it?s not like a cry of pain IYSWIM? It?s like he?s petrified?. Sometimes he won?t even let us hold him and just screams and screams. He goes to bed fine and always has. Sometimes I have to feed him to get him back off, others we have let him cry himself to sleep, other times I have sat in the chair with him for two hours, slept on the floor of his room with him?..I really don?t know what to do?.

Birthday is creeping ever closer (26th Sept), party and christening is all arranged now for the Sunday before. Far too many guests coming! Got Oliver a lovely suit with a light blue shirt and waistcoat, he is going to be edible!

I?m sorry I haven?t been able to catch up properly, but Sassy, I hope the twins are feeling better now, Morally - welcome back ? what is your DD?s name? Have you name changed? , Cinammon - I hope things work out ok with the other mums. I know how you feel, I get very lonely Sad

Sorry for the mammoth post and to those I have missed.

Note to self: Throw Oliver?s hot pink t-shirt away when get home as silly Mum at child-minders this morning asked me how old ?SHE? was?..grrrrrrr!

cinnamongreyhound · 23/08/2011 09:43

I don't know if posted but some woman thought Luke was a girl a couple of weeks ago SeaChelles as he was wearing red trousers! I don't think he looked vaguely girly and nor does Oliver!!

What's dd's name MorallyBankrupt? and when's her birthday? Luke was 9lb 2 so bigger than ds1 but didn't pile on weight so is much smaller, was a bit worried but they are just very different children and Luke is much more mobile! Both of mine we induced due to being overdue and were 14 and 13 days late so I can't really help with the guilt thing just wanted them out!! Try not to focus so much on the date, I have a friend who resented her dd for a while for her 40hr labour and ecs just shows what an emotional experience it really is. As for birthdays it's really hard as dh doesn't want anymore children and ds1 starts school the same week Luke is 1.

Hope the twins are better now Sassy34264, fingers crossed you don't catch it.

Luke's shoes were a whole size too small and he's walking in the new ones fine. Ds1 looks very smart in his school shoes and we had a lovely day out. Finished with swimming and Luke is really trying to swim!! If you go to Clarks for shoes anyone you can now make an appointment before you go.

newmum001 · 23/08/2011 09:50

Chelle grace gets mistaken for a boy all the time, it drives me insane! Also grace was waking up in the night doing exactly as you described I put it down to seperation anxiety as I couldn't think what else it could be! It went on for 4 weeks but she is a bit better now, still wakes some nights but sleeps through more often!

MammyG · 23/08/2011 10:06

Sassy DS1 uniform etc for school cost the bones of 200?, 100? of which was shoes! A pair of boots and a pair of runners! Nearly cried - next year will have two in school. Dont know what it is like for parents with loads of kids in school. Also its not like boys are easy on shoes either.
Dont have to worry bout Phoebe and shoes. She isnt standing let alone walking. She is only starting to rock on all 4s but hasnt crawled yet. Just laughing at her here. She has a huge head of curls and its literally all the top of her head. She looks like she had heated rollers in!
Chelle Phoebes was doing that for a few nights too- think it was a bad dream as well but it passed.

mapletrees · 23/08/2011 12:35

Welcome back Morally Smile My DS, Louis, was 2 weeks early. Even though I knew it was irrational in my head, I did fell quite bad at the time, not so much because he was early, but more as I had to have a CS when I had really wanted as natural birth as possible (pref. at home). He did seem like he wasn't really ready to be born yet - he was quite slim and hated being put down and lots of other little things, and I really hadn't had enough of being pregnant. Even though I know it's silly, I still feel a little sad when I think about it, but I just have to remind myself that what's important is the beautiful, healthy, playful little terror monkey I got to bring home with me, and the fact is if he hadn't had the birth he did, he wouldn't be here at all. Not to mention I was completely cheated out of my baby-free maternity leave and still haven't sorted out the loft, cleaned under all the furniture and gone through the wardrobe Wink

Oh, and we're all slightly in awe of the crazy brave sassy Grin

Chelle don't throw away Olly's t-shirt. I bet he looks great in it. Some people are just so conditioned to blue = boy and pink = girl they don't see anything else, but that's their problem, not yours Grin. Hope his sleep settles down soon..

Debs75 · 23/08/2011 12:50

Hi Morally I know just how you feel. I had Lucy almost 4 weeks early as she had stopped growing and I felt awful about it for ages. She was only 6lb6oz which is one of the smallest on the thread. I remember feeling so cheated that a, she was early and b, I was induced. She is my last so I will never have the chance to have a natural labour again.

She turned 1 9 days ago and tbh all the worries I had at the time have mostly gone away. She is happy and healthy and a lovely little girl. At the end of the day her birth was just 2 long days, her life is stretching far ahead into the distance and that is what matters

MorallyBankrupt · 23/08/2011 13:23

Yes I have name changed a few times since I joined the pre natal thread... I can't even remember what I was at the start Shock anyway DD is Clemmie and was born on 23/09/10.

I guess a lot of the problem stems from the fact I had a spinal tap and had to have a little operation to repair it so really missed the first few days of her life :( I left hospital a few hours after she was born as I was in so much pain I was getting quite hysterical (they didn't notice I had a spinal tap) and it took til the midwife coming the next day to realise what the problem was and another day to fix it. So I spent the first 3 days after she was born mainly crying in pain....not good bonding time. So essentially I have always felt like a massive failure.

H and I was supposed to have her 8-12 month check up today but when I got here the HV said she had sent out the wrong letter and it was actually on the 18th of Aug so I had missed it! Not impressed! They get so narky with you if you make a mistake and miss an appointment but when they send you a letter with the wrong date on and you waste all morning getting there for nothing they couldn't care less!

Ah well.
