jane sods law Grin I can't remember, did you decide not to go away on honeymoon? Are you waiting and seeing?

pussinglads Yup, the £11 one but its £4 for the tray - bloody rip-off Grin We didn't have a great night here either Hmm

ledkr · 21/07/2011 13:57

wiggles im glad you said that about the weaning, dilly just cant be doing with food altho she is watching me intently and she just "shared" some water melon with me,she loved it too.
We leave tmw im really excited,it will be just what we need, weather not too bad.
Right i came on to tell you we have adate for Dillys surgery, its the 5th of October,am feeling a bit nervous now as it seems so real but it will be nice for her to get it out of the way.I will book my virtual hand holding in now if thats ok with you lot.

wigglesrock · 21/07/2011 14:06

ledkr great that you have the date, I bagsie sitting the night-time session with you, we'll have great craic, you smuggle the vodka in a sippy cup, I'll bring the coke and we can have some sneaky cigs cake Grin

Oh and I weaned Olivia a bit earlier to " help her sleep" think we all know how succesful that was Hmm. Anna just seems to enjoy it a lot more Grin

reastie · 21/07/2011 14:08

ledkr 5th october noted in diary so will be here for hand holding. I'm glad you've got a date at last - try and think of the positives like booking a trip to ibiza/easier feeds (hopefully) etc. Does she need to stay in for long post op do you know? do you go into theatre with her? [clueless]

hoping needto has returned safely from work and not too shattered

janedoe25 · 21/07/2011 14:23

ledkr what reastie said, think of the positives im sure dilly will be fine. I will be here to hold your hand anytime you need it.

wiggles we will be going on a honeymoon, but not until after christmas. DF only has 1 week left of hols to take from work,( he is using them for the week after we get married.) they reset his holiday days after christmas though.

wigglesrock · 21/07/2011 14:37

jane I knew there was something about after Christmas, was New York mentioned or was that a desire of mine that I foisted onto you Grin

americanexpat · 21/07/2011 14:45

ledkr - of course we'll be here for hand holding. Dilly will be fine but it's so stressful anyway.

reastie - are you making it following the instructions on the packet? It's really thin and dribbled out of L's mouth too. I slowly made it a bit thicker and he gets on better now that it's porridge consistency.

wiggles - my mum has been telling me to give L rice since he was 8 weeks old to get him to sleep through. Turns out it's not the miracle solution everyone said it would be. Hmm

A mediocre night here. He woke at 11 and 2 for a feed, but his nappy leaked and soaked his pyjamas which I didn't notice until after I'd fed him at 2. He was wide awake after I changed him and didn't go to sleep again until 3. He woke again at 4 for a feed and I lost my temper when he wouldn't go back to sleep Blush so put him in the swing where he slept until 7.30. After a week of crying for an hour before every nap, he's had 2 today with no crying. Confused

ledkr · 21/07/2011 14:49

Im speaking to the cleft nurse later, but as far as i know it one night as long as all well,we can both stay and one of us is allowed into the or whilst she goes to sleep,i will go as its not a pleasant experience but im used to it from ds2 who had lots of ops. The bed for the 2nd parent is in the "ronald macdonald wing" yum,i might opt for that one Grin
wiggles i did tell dh he would have to allow me to have a fag whilst she's under. God they are hard to nap these days arent they?Been trying ages now.

ledkr · 21/07/2011 14:52

ex pat-its awhile before they are eating enough cals to affect milk feeds,if you can get him to settle better for naps the nights could be easier,Dilly has fallen back into the feed to sleep habit,i intend to tackle it when i have the flippin energy Grin

janedoe25 · 21/07/2011 16:36

wiggles we want to go to vegas and NY, but doubt the funds will allow it! I think we will just wait to see how much we can afford and book something last minute.

tadjennyp · 21/07/2011 17:01

Good luck with that op ledkr. I was nervous about dd having her tonsils out 2 weeks ago so I can't imagine how worried you would be with Dilly. I'm 8 hours behind as you know so would take over the hand-holding late shift!

Sorry about AF Jane. Next time!

Crap night here too. Didn't go down till after his feed at 9, feeds at 1.30, 4.30, 6 then another feed at 7 and 8.30 and it's only 9 o'clock yet! Shock No wonder I can't shed any weight with the amount of milk I must be making! Blush

Hope needto's day went well. Good luck to everyone with dcs off on holiday. I keep mine in the 3 mornings a week [lazy mother emoticon]

ledkr · 21/07/2011 19:25

Yes tad and thanks too, i feel that i cant lose weight easily cos when you feel tired you just fancy carbs/comfort foods altho i am still managing to mostly stick to ww and have defo lost weight its just slow but i read that the slower you lose it the better.

Ladies my poor sis is really suffering with sickness and is tired and headachey,i didnt really have this but i told her id ask my "friends" for their tips.

a riend told me today that her d went straight to finger foods at about 9 months as she never took to weaning on mush,Dilly was thrashing about today and kicking the spoon she really doesnt want it.

debka · 21/07/2011 19:56

ledkr glad you've got a date for Dilly's op, sounds like the nurse is supportive too. It'll be a relief when it's all done. Only tip for your sis is sleep or at least rest as much as possible.

S is not really 'getting' food either, gave her some microwaved poached apple which I'd mashed with a fork carefully pureed using a Special Machine today, she enjoyed the taste I think but didn't understand what to do with it and it all came out again.

jane hope you get your trip to the USA, I'd love to go. My dad and stepmum are going on a tour of the National Parks in September, I'm very Envy

Has the bad mother award already been handed out for today? If not I may be a candidate- left S sitting on the floor today whilst I set the table- put cushions behind and to the side of her but she fell forwards and now has a red mark on her cheekbone Blush

Emski76 · 21/07/2011 20:36

Ledkr, glad you've got date for Dillys op. I will also be around to hold your hand.
Jane, New York for your honeymoon would be fab! Hope you get to go. Sorry about AF, keeping my fingers crossed for you fir next month.
Debka, dont feel bad re S falling onto her face, I'm constantly bumping Noahs head, and now that he's rolling around the lounge now like a looney he's always bumping into the tv unit!
Ledkr I second Debs advice re your sis. Rest always made me feel a little better, and the headaches and sickness only lasted a few months altho it felt like forever at the time!
Re weaning. Tbh I haven't given Noah purees, I mash all his food, he tends to spit out any lumps or I remove them before I give the food to him. He is loving his food, eats three meals a day plus bottles o is basically feeding every two hours at the moment. He's a big boy and def needs his food!
I need a bit if advice ladies. Ben woke a few times last night quite upset. He said he'd dreamed about monsters, then saw a dinosaur in his room. I'm not really sure how to handle it and told him that they not real. He then said they live far away so can't get here, but can they drive?! Not sure what to say!

40Weeks · 21/07/2011 20:47

Hello girls

Did you miss me? What do u mean, no!!????

Haven't got anything interest to post but wanted to say hi. So much hat since I was last on. Jane sorry about AF, hope you're ok. I deffo recommend getting pissed at your own wedding but will keep fingers crossed you aren't waiting for long.

reastie how is Alice doing? Hope the screaming was a one off. Is the coil that bad? Am having second thoughts....

ledkr when you off to the coast? Sounds great. Glad Dilly has her date for the op. She will be grand

Was it Suzy talking about studying? Good on you. What do you teach mizk?? (hope I have that right??)

how are the holidays panning out wiggles? I am rounding up my 'mums with kids on holiday' mates at every opportunity!

Mikey still isn't on solids, doesn't seem to be showing signs but he isn't even 5m for a few days.

I am making my nephews bday cake this weekend. Red velvet cake, mmmmm yummy!

Sorry my post is so dull, hope you are all well

Ooh jane if u can manage it,def go...we did NYC,Boston & then Cape Cod for our honeymoon...was late October, early November so the colours of 'fall' in Massachusetts was beautiful!

Nate got all excited when I was eating a banana earlier so I mashed a teeny bit up for him....he was not amused Smile. He has however been a poo monster today...3 change of outfits due to exploding nappies!

wigglesrock · 21/07/2011 21:19

jane I've been to NY twice in January, both trips were booked quite last minute, the second time I went we booked about 4 weeks before going and we went for 3 nights and was about £400 each flights and accom but that was 3.5 years ago. Its lovely in Jan but vvvv cold and not too busy.

ledkr my sister is very headachey too, she had her booking in appt at the beginning of the week and the midwife told her she had the headaches because she was tired! She is napping after work when she can. I was that sick for the whole nine months that all I managed to keep down was fanta, and strangely Chinese food and nuts. My sister has got to the need to eat phase especially Haribo Sours Grin

40Weeks holidays aren't that bad, the weather was ok for the first 2 weeks so they were chucked outside but it has been awful for the past week or so, but the sneaky toys have helped. We have also been up at my mums a bit - any port in a storm Grin

emski can you co-opt a teddy or buy a new one and tell him it will keep all scary dinosaurs away?

Anna had her dinner in her highchair today, I was out but according to Mr W she loved it and was able to sit up fine in it.

reastie · 21/07/2011 21:36

ems not sure what to say re: nightmares as I keep having them myself Shock - last night I dreamt I was on a date with a murderer Shock Hmm can you do a monster hunt before you put him to bed? like a fun hunt around his room - in the wardrobe/under the bed to make sure no monsters there, or give him a 'special' tuck into bed so it protects him from monsters or give him an imaginary sword to fight them off with? [clueless]

40 I was wondering if you had had your coil yet. Please don't let me stop you. It just seems to be setting my IBS off and they are messing each other about but think this is unusual.

ledkr no moans about pg sickness - you've heard it all before enough Wink . I remember you got some killer headaches though. Advice wise from all I could find everyone is different so it's kinda hard. Apparently b vits can help ms so I think I took vit b6 tabs and lots of marmite Grin . Lots of people swear by ginger biscuits but they did bog all for me. Just try and eat little and often and rest lots and try not to do too much or get too stressed. I always ate before I got out of bed in the morning and got up really slowly. DH used to bring me up muesli in bed Grin every morning. The foods I could eat changed all the time so I'd have a week of nothing but jam on toast, a week of nothing but pea soup etc etc. i found ice cold water or ice cubes good. there's also a cd/ipod app you can buy called 'nevasic' which is suppose to help the inner ear to reduce nausea. It didn't really help me but some people swear by it Hmm . Oh, and I did a ms pg hypnosis cd which I don't think helped that much, but it did help the relaxation which helped the cause iykwim. Oh, and I had fresh lemons by y bed to sniff at night Wink . God that was terrible - I NEVER want to go through that again Shock . but if she's that bad there's really nothing to cure it completely. She could see GP re: meds.

reastie · 21/07/2011 21:39

oh yeah ledkr and the car/sea sick wrist bands seemed to help a little (even if it was psychological). Some people swear by acupuncture for it but I never tried it as felt too rough to leave the house Shock

ledkr · 21/07/2011 22:03

em how old is he? Id play it right down and reassure him but in a matter of fact no nonsense manner,if he picks up your anxiety it will be worse, you need to show him by your actions that its nonsense "oh i dont think so,how funny that you dreamt that hahaha" I also used to let mine have night in my room if they were scared but that was when they were old enough not to form habits, dont talk about it in the day or let him over hear you tell others it will reinforce his fears, can he have a reward for good nights too.
Dilly cant sit in a high chair she hunches over in order to lick the tray, tsk. She has been a real wriggle pants today as if she wants to get down and crawl.

debka · 22/07/2011 06:38

I was up 5 times last night with my little monster girl. I think it's because she napped badly in the day, but also I wonder if I need to just let her cry it out. ATM she has a tiny feed then back to sleep, v annoying, but I don't know if I can face the crying.

Hi 40weeks!!

Well done Anna having dinner in her highchair, we haven't even got one for S yet Blush

janedoe25 · 22/07/2011 07:19

debka sorry you had another rough night with S, hope you have an easy day. Smile

ledkr i suffered with mega headaches when was pg, the cool and soothe forehead strips helped me, they were a lifesaver! I second reastie with the travel sickness bands, they helped to take the edge of the sickness. I hope your sis feels better soon.

Hope you all have a FAB weekend! Grin

40Weeks · 22/07/2011 07:37

Oh debka you poor thing. If you do let her cry it out, try it in the day maybe, so it's not quite as stressful for you. We have been having much better nights but Mikey hasn't been the problem, it's the other two! Up at all hours. But last night M slept til 4, bliss. 5 hours sleep in one go, a real treat.

Thomas' last day at preschool today. Gulp.

Also meant to say I love Harry Potter too, am gutted I missed a trip to see the film on weds with my pals. I can't wait til the boys start reading the books

Good luck today deb I wish we could send you a nap, to make the day easier

Ledkr, Ben is almost 4. I will def follow all your advice ladies, thanx. Ge stayed at in laws last night so not sure how he got on.
I love H Pottet too. Dh is looking forward to introducing Ben to it.
Had a great night with Noah, didn't hear a peep out of him until 6! really sorry about your rough night with S Debka. The lack of sleep is a killer isn't it! We had it with Noah last were with his cold and it was awful.
40, start of an exciting tine for Thomas now then!
My sis and I tried Noah in her highchair and he kept leaning forward and hitting his head on the tray!

janedoe25 · 22/07/2011 08:45

wiggles i think i will be ok with the cold in NY, in case you have forgot i live in Glasgow. It was over -20 here last winter!

granny that trip sounds amazing! I really hope we can afford to go!

Im off out on a wedding shopping trip to see what goodies i can pick up for cheap!

Have a good day everyone! Grin
