Evening girls! Have been on my tod today and will be tomorrow as well, as DP is up at Trent Bridge watching the test. Bit of a role reversal, him watching cricket and me not. Anyway, it was a pile o' poo today according to the radio. But I am sure he is having a nice time anyway as he is with a good pal.
Anyway, I am not drinking this eve and had a cheese salad for supper. Have been been doing very low carb this week. Have I lost any weight? Have I shitters! Might have to join you crazee exercisers. The water rower went off to the menders this week, so once that's back...no excuses. I need to get the mini trampoline out of the shed, I suppose. The rats don't need it!
Best of British tomorrow, Beans. 10k sounds topping. I like Sybs' suggestion of gay music.
Sybs, did you make it up with DH?
DB, your DS is going great guns on the potty. I think I am just going to have to leave it a while. To go back to the point about budget supermarkets, there was a great thread on here along the lines of "What's good at Aldi or Lidl" and people were chipping in about what was expecially good. It may have been in Chat, in which case the thread may well have gone now. But my Mum raves about the cod fillets in breadcrumbs at Aldi, and I love Lidl Cottage Cheese. It really is the cat's whiskers. Tastier than M&S or Waitrose!
JJ, the idea of a granny sounds much more reassuring. I really do hope you get to sing this time. When are you off?
Speaking of which, happy hols in Sweden, Nolda (if I haven't already missed you).
Effie, just to carry on the chat about housework, if I really think about it I do have slight anxiety about it myself. My Mum is incredibly tidy but when DP and I were living in his flat, it was so small and cluttered I got too overwhelmed and depressed by my surroundings to do much and it got a bit yacky. I don't want that to happen here. I am quite a tidy person but DP is very messy and the DDs are obviously a bit of a whirlwind, so it gets really out of hand (also we haven't found spaces for everything yet, plus there are a few tools and DIY stuff etc still dotted around).
So, can I ask you all how much housework you do? What is your system? I can remember the days when I was at work and I used to have a cleaner but that sure ain't going to happen now, as we flatly don't have the cash. (It was lovely coming home from work to clean bedding that someone else had put on! Aaaahhhh....)
Speaking of which, admittedly DP had the day booked off today, but the other four days, he didn't have any work at all. Not good. The diary is v. bare.
Trudy, I will try to find you on Twitter. I don't use LadyThompson on there, even though that feels more like my name than my actual name!
DB, you were asking about recipe books. I am no great shakes in the kitchen but I do like Plenty by Yotam Ottalenghi. It's easy, tasty Mediterranean cooking, mainly veggie recipes but written by a non-veggie. That's a massive undersell on my part.
I've got Black Swan to watch on dvd. I guess we'll watch it on Sun evening when DP is back. He has a mahoosive pash for Natalie Portman. I am simply hoping for a moderately entertaining melodrama.
Is anyone watching The Hour? I gave up after episode 1, should I have?
Am still a bit scared here, on my own. Although DD2's cot is next to my bed so perhaps she can protect me
Aww, when I said goodnight to DD1 tonight, she said quietly "Thank you for helping me today, Mummy". It was so sweet and so surprising. She has been a little so and so recently, at times, but it was cute. I said "What with? Everything?!" and we both had a laugh about that. It amazes me how grown up she is for two and a half, despite sodding nappies.
Goodnight all...
