Oh lord. New thread to be needed soooooon...

JumpJockey · 16/09/2011 09:14

Effie, just read back about your probs with ds1 and I read somewhere that kids are grumpy with their mums brcause we're the people they can be most 'themaelves' with. Not a great comfort right now, but its a good sign that he's so co fortable with you that he doesn't have to put on an act. We were told from about 13 months at nursery that S is 'strong willed' which i guess is the baby word for cheeky... Better that than the borning dumpling children who just lie there dping nothing. No offence to any dumpling children of course.

Trudy, big sleep vibes coming to you. E has stopped being relativelt easy (yeah rivht) to settle, she did her usual wake at 5am (why? Why?) and took until 5.55 to get back to sleep then woke again at 6.20. As a result of tbis she's always knackered and meltdowny by about 8 at which time i'm frantially bribing S to get dressed for nursery. God knows what will hapoem when we need to be getting them both ready...

Beans that sounds yum, please jiffy me some right away. Sorry to hear about the house but def worth holding out with the ,ower offer, if they're desparate to move they'll take it.

Our new place doesn't officially need much work, in that it is livable in, butnthere's lots that we will be getting done (diy not worth the hassle, you remember the fun we had trying to put up shelves and drilling through a power cable Blush). First on the list is floor and insukate the loft - ladynconveniently didn't have a ladder, but said 'oh yes it's all floored up there', surveyor discoveres that's a big fat fib Hmm. Then rip out the shower room that leaked into the hall below after her cowboy builder husband used a shower tray that was too small and didn't seal behind the tiles double Hmm. and fimish off the utility room where there are big holes in the ceiling and dangling wires and pipes to nowhere. Sigh. That's why it was so(relatively) cheap for Cam.

Am definitely very very excited though dwspite Lots more space, an upstairs bathroom :) huge garden, kitchen diner family room thingy, our own parking space, and a lady next door with two young daughters!

SummerLightning · 16/09/2011 09:40

Good luck with house offer beans. Fingers crossed...
Jj do you have moving date?

Sausage pasta sounds yum and right up our street. I am trying to cut down though so maybe in a while when lost some flab.

Effie yikes on losing ds2. I can still remember when we lost my brother when he was maybe about 3. My dad had said jokingly smacked bottom when we find you so he had decided to stay hidden!

Right am going to have to post this as have made cookies have to take out (i am not going to eat any though,no really)

Haha at nob the builder. Peppa pig is it round here and thomas

Sybs are you ok?

JumpJockey · 16/09/2011 09:45

SL we move on Tuesday

Have been freecycling all sorts of bits, taking lots to nct sale next weekend, but thdre's still loads in the loft that we need to get rid of. Given that we have an open fire, would it be reasonable to leave the random bits of wood in the loft that we never got round to burning ourselves? We have the moving co doing packing for us on Monday, but we're going to do some bits hopefully over the weekend. In fact I should be doing that right now! :) yeah right...

Beans36 · 16/09/2011 12:33

Just made a vat of mince for the girls. Please god they eat this. I gave them yummy not homemade beefburgers for lunch, and they ate around them to scoff the cheese and bread. Naughty little minxes. What on earth will they ever eat???!

Beans36 · 16/09/2011 17:27

DD1 refused it. DD2 wolfed the lot. Have had it with the eating. I haven't given her anything else. Now bathtime then she's going straight to bed. I'm furious and weeping. Try not to get stressed about her eating, but it's a constant.

Beans36 · 16/09/2011 17:52

DD1 already asleep in bed. Guess totally knackered!!

DeidreBarlow · 16/09/2011 19:28

Aarghhh...DD1's school is going to age me this week (and its actually a pretty good school believe it or not!).

Friend issues better today she tells me, although she's not 100% happy. However, I was pulled to one side by a lady who is on the Governors today to tell me I need to push for DD to have her class moved. I was all a bit shocked and confuddled by this point as it was totally out of the blue- I know this lady but we aren't friends or anything. Basically she was talking to a teacher (who apparently cannot talk to me about it as she could lose her jobHmm) and DD has been incorrectly placed in a class, and should have been put in the mixed YR1/2 group as her abilities are far greater than the class she is in. Apparently, some assessment results hadn't come back when classes were decided, and since they have come back it has highlighted that DD is very bright Confused. Anyway, said teacher asked lady to speak to me....

I rang the school to speak to the Head, but couldn't mentioned names etc! Anyhow, got through to her class teacher as Head had gone home, and her teacher said she was "horrified" that DD has been placed in her class and thinks I need to appeal to the Head for a move. So Head has been emailed and her Secretary is going to get her to ring me Monday and make an appointment. Why the f*ck hasn't the head rang meAngry. Lord I need a bucket load of Wine.

DeidreBarlow · 16/09/2011 19:28

On a happier note I've lost another 3lb!!!!

DeidreBarlow · 16/09/2011 19:29

Beans Your food sounds lovely, I'll have DD1's leftovers. Actually after school drama tonight I took the kids to McD's Shock. They wolfed the lot little beggars!

SummerLightning · 16/09/2011 20:58

Fucking hell db that sounds stressful. And wtf are they basically doing what amounts to streaming kids at primary school?? Awesome on the weightloss. Any tips i have at least half a stone to shift pref 1 stone!

Beans esting round here still dodge too but i really dont let it bother me any more. Ds frequently eats no tea except maybe fruit and yoghurt. No alternatives tough shit! And now back at work we are eating together late a lot so less making him what he wants and less fannying around time.

SummerLightning · 16/09/2011 21:05

Oh btw started potty training today going ok so far think he might finally be getting it...anyone else not done it yet?

DeidreBarlow · 16/09/2011 21:29

Summer yes...streaming, that's exactly what they are doing

SummerLightning · 16/09/2011 22:15

But non officially presumably? So they have a yr 1 class and a joint yr 1/2 and ooh what a coincidence all the brighter yr 1s are in the shared class? That is outrageous if so is it even allowed in a state school (is it a state school?)

VagolaJahooli · 17/09/2011 01:29

Ok I'm a little tipsy, and I'm not keeping up well and I'm as outraged Bout the primary streaming, I definitely am...but I'm also a little proud that DB girl is so bright!!! Also meant to add to earlier post that AAA girl is clearly advanced and someone needs to recognise it. triple A have they said anything at school about how amazing it is?

JJ please to a mini clean out, if your are getting packers its great but you end up unpacking crap at the other end.

We have friends over from Lunnen tarn and have had a lovely srveral bottles of Vino with them yum yum. sadly it will be raining tomorrow I think so maybe not ve able to show them the full beauty of the Hague.

right must fall over now.

DeidreBarlow · 17/09/2011 07:27

Vag hope you don't have a hangover and have a lovely day with your friends.

Yes it is a State school, and they are streaming although the HT will never admit as much. DH is beyond furious about the whole thing!

Off to watch Alan Carr tonight hope he's funny I could do with a laugh.

ZuleikaJambiere · 17/09/2011 09:40

My D nephew is a similar age in mini Deids and he is streamed, in Scotland if that has anything to do with it. I was equally shocked it happens at all in primary school - but what angered me was SIL's attitude (she is rather pushy, to put it mildly). It seems the streaming is rather informal and recommended, but parents are consulted and SIL was asked if DNephew would be happier with his friends, as he wasn't with any of his friends from yr 1. She said no, he must be in the top stream so as not to ruin his education and he'd make new friends in time. I was sad for the poor little man, he is only 6

ZuleikaJambiere · 17/09/2011 09:44

Oh and meant to ask Deids, any idea what you'll do yet? Keep DD where she is or move her? Hope Alan Carr was fun

ZuleikaJambiere · 17/09/2011 09:51

Just found this post that I wrote yesterday!

LadyT DD isn't one for actually playing with other children - she'll race around when others do or sit down with a book next to someone else, but rarely interacts - and she's been in nursery for 2 years now. I hope assume interacting will come in time, but sometimes wonder if she's got it from me, as I'm not good at initiating conversation, it takes a big effort, but I wouldn't like to think DD will be the same

How terrifying to lose DS2 Effie, must have just been heart stopping. Was he amused by the whole thing?

My fingers are crossed that your offer is accepted soon Beans, beggars can't be choosers, as my Mum says, so they need to be a bit less greedy. How frustrating for you over tea? Does Dd1 eat well at nursery? I can always rely on E eating like a horse at nursery (the cook must be better than me) so I try not to worry about her off days at home because I know she'll have 2 days of eating for England by the end of the week. Although saying that, she's not a bad eater, just has toddler-ish days where she won't cooperate with anything sometimes

Good luck with TT Summer, a month in and think we've cracked it, v few accidents now. But it has reduced me to tears several times along the way

I'm going to buck the trend and declare myself to be quite a fan of Jason Mason

Very excited about my cuppa with LadyT and Trace this afternoon Smile. Have a good weekend everyone

DeidreBarlow · 17/09/2011 13:48

ZJ, trace & lady Have a lovely time togetherSmile

ZJ In answer to your question I want her moved. I was never happy about her being in that class to begin with as she was seperated from the majority of her friends, she knows lots of people in the other class. Plus we are only 2 weeks in so it should cause her minimal dirsruption and she adapts pretty well to most situations. I am just quite furious that this whole situation has occured and a teacher has had to get another parent to talk to me as she couldn't.
