So we don't scare the viroids on the antenatal thread with horror stories of no sleep, chomped boobs and endless laundry or make them envious with tales of cuteness....

Jojo is sooo expensive! They do some adorable things that you realise you 'need'. Have thrown out the catalogue to prevent temptation.

Sewing Christmas items sounds lovely. I wish I could sew. Hope you have a fab evening.

My sister came round tonight and entertained ds while I wrapped dh's Christmas presents and hid them. Feeling much more like my old organised self (pre-baby I was a list writer Grin).

CuriosityCola · 09/12/2011 07:15

Ah, those were the days Wink Excel is amazing BlushGrin

Ds has injections today and dh is stuck in London until tonight. Hoping he doesn't cry as much this time Sad

fraktious · 09/12/2011 10:00

I keep making spreadsheets and DH comes and messes with them Angry I have no idea what to get him. He's threatening to get me a MacBook or an iPad, neither of which I particularly want. In fact I'd rather he put the cash in savings in case we need to board DS for secondary.

£55 for an aspiration is extortionate! We got ours on prescription I think Wink

Ds was fine at his injections. Student nurse distracted him while it was being done. He barely registered them. Smile

I have been a little boring and bought dh clothes. Ds is giving him a mug with a handprint. No idea what dh is buying me. As we have not long moved house we are keeping it cheap simple this year. What are you all buying for your babies? Really unsure of what to get for ds. Nickel has got me thinking my favourite childhood book might be a good keepsake.

CuriosityCola · 09/12/2011 15:44

There are quite a few horror stories being shared on Nickels birthing thread. Not sure if it's what a natural/ home birth plan needs Hmm .

cowboylover · 17/12/2011 22:19

Hello!
How is everyone doing?

I have not caught up on Nickels story so I hope it didnt get to scary.

Ready for Christmas? I have mainly bought DD clothes which seams a bit odd as its only me that buys her clothes anyway but a nice excuse to go to next instead of Asda Smile

MightilyChristmassyOats · 17/12/2011 23:17

All well here thanks Cowboy - I've only bought DS 2 Christmas presents from us - seemed a bit silly somehow, seeing as he will only be 10 weeks old and absolutely won't have a clue! He's currently crashed out fast asleep on the sofa, but will no doubt be wide awake as soon as he gets into bed Xmas Wink

How is everyone else?

CuriosityCola · 17/12/2011 23:40

Not bad here, despite getting in a tizz over bad advice from health visitor. Feeling better after posting in Feeding section.

Thing we are experiencing 4 month sleep regression. It's amazing how they can seem sound until you move them isn't it? Smile

Ds is getting clothes and books from dh and I. Possibly aDVDplayer something educational to keep him entertained in the car Grin

CuriosityCola · 17/12/2011 23:40

*think

vallinnapod · 18/12/2011 16:19

CC we are having sleep issues too. Nothing terrible in the grand scheme of things but waking every couple of hours to be fed Confused. one night's sleep would be amazing. Not sure what to do. Try to comfort him without feeding to break the habit but I cave when I know 5 mins feed and he'll be gone :(

Am putting money into DS's savings for Christmas but I have also got him a book (The Smelly Brussels Sprout!) and some Christmas 'jamas! Oh and some cute reindeer slippers as they were half price and by the till in John Lewis!

Frak are you still lurking? I have some hot weather questions for you! DS and I are going to the Cayman's mid-Jan...solo... Shock We have a 13 hour flight, eek! I am just going to have to survive that but what about when I am there? Do you have any recommendations for things I need? A good brand for a sun hat and sun lotion would be appreciated. Anything else particularly useful? I am most unsure of clothes. It will clearly be hot but how do you dress a baby for constantly going in and out of air con?! Thanks!

Nickel are you in these parts yet?? Can we have a birth story? Hope you are having an amazing time with DD xx

Eskarina · 19/12/2011 03:39

Oh poo. MN just lost a long post. Suffice to say we're having wakeful nights too, more frequent than when she was a week old, but are getting slowly better at daytime sleep. I'm knackered though.

Huge congrats to nickel, I followed your birth threads and you did so so well!. Hope she doesn't mind me linking to her birth story. here at 12:43 to save her typing it all out again.

Dd has got a door bouncer (mega cheap in our church sale) and a baby carrier backpack from us and a stash of little things DH doesn't know about that can be allocated to any money relatives give her and if not then just sneaked into her cupboard by me

Have managed to upset my family though by spending Christmas with the ILs. T'is all a bit awkward as no one really mentions it, and I didn't realise that they were so put out til I spoke to my bro this weekend.

Also on a countdown to my 30th (on the 30th), which I feel totally uninspired about and ambivalent towards. I want to go for afternoon tea with some friends but don't want anyone to feel they have to buy me a present as it'll be the same friends who came to my baby shower and will come to dd's dedication service in feb.

Waves to all. She's finished feed now but screaming cos I put her in her own bed.

EggNogNelly · 19/12/2011 11:00

Just a quick stalking intervention from me, mainly to say to to val that I know a lot about Cayman (starting with, no "s" Xmas Wink) and still have lots of friends there. January will be comfortably warm, mostly when my friends have babies they use short sleeve onesies in the house and blankets at night. Just shorts/t during day time. California baby stuff is a favourite for lotions but not sure if you can get it in the uk (my Sis gets hers on trips to the US). Go for uv clothing and swimmies etc. Anything specific you need to know, just ask. Probably can sort out stuff for you to borrow if needed too. I am very Envy. Don't worry about the flight, it's always full of commuter babies!

Waves to the other viroids. Now who is coming back over to the JS thread to start again Xmas Grin

vallinnapod · 19/12/2011 22:13

Hey Nelly!! Thanks for the correction and tips! Hope all is well with you. To head to the JSing board I would have to actually shag...sleep is infinitely more appealing....poor DH!

vallinnapod · 20/12/2011 10:52

Any advice? DS is feeding like an absolute beast. Constantly and even like right now, asleep on me but still going. Last night we even had to defrost an emergency bag from the freezer to top him up before bed which he completely guzzled. He has also foregone all naps for the past three days. Any ideas or is he possessed Wink

takethatlady · 20/12/2011 11:12

esk, happy upcoming 30th! We have the same issue as you - DH is 30 in March and Isobel's christening is then, and then she'll be 1 on 3rd July and I'll be 30 on 4th July. We're combining the celebrations to stop people feeling they have to trek over here four times in three months and spend lots of money. Could you do the same and put off your big birthday celebrations until Feb? And just do something smaller with your DH on your bday? I wouldn't normally suggest this, being an advocate of muchos cocktails and high heels and sparkliness, but I totally get how you're feeling. Nothing like a baby to make turning 30 a non-event!

nickel, where are you?! Anyone know what happened?

val that sounds like a growth spurt and he should stop feeding like that soon. How many weeks is he? Isobel went nuts for hourly feeds at 4 months and it lasted about three weeks - in the meantime I nearly collapsed with exhaustion. I just ate loads, DH got up with her really early in the mornings so I could get a couple of hours' uninterrupted sleep, and we eventually moved ber bedtime from 6pm (which she had needed before) to 9pm, meaning she stopped waking at 3am thinking it was party time. I also bought a co-sleeping guard from Tippitoes and she comes in with us from the early hours now, so all I have to do to feed her is roll over and I go back to sleep. Not sure how all this is going to play out when she goes in her own room from Boxing Day (eek!)

In other news, both her godmothers are pregnant! One is 8 weeks, one is 18 weeks, so they'll both be bumptastic by the time of the christening. Of course they were inspired by the utter gorgeousness of my child .

vallinnapod · 20/12/2011 16:31

He's just over 3.5 months....3 WEEKS! Blimey. He is at least napping today. Had his jabs. I really should wake him but I am rather enjoying the alone time Blush

LOL at your broody-making baby TTL

Happy 30th Esk - I am bound to forget nearer the time. I turned 30 in May. DH and I eloped to Scotland avoid any parties etc Grin

I was thinking about turfing out moving DS to his own room at the end of January when we return from our trip. He'll be 5 months then. Also plan on starting BLW around then...maybe too much at once?

ConfessionsOfATinselFanjo · 20/12/2011 18:44

Stop all being so young! I want to turn 27 30 again! Oh well by next B'day DD will be over a year and I can find someone to drink cocktails with.

vallinnapod · 20/12/2011 20:59

Still can't stop chuckling at the tinsel fanjo. Some sort of odd vajazzling goes through my mind!

ConfessionsOfATinselFanjo · 20/12/2011 21:38
Xmas Grin
ConfessionsOfATinselFanjo · 20/12/2011 21:42

I would just like to say, it is really really hard to get anything done when your small baby keeps waking up and insisting on spending the evening with you. I've finally made my fruit mince, but still no actual pies Xmas Shock. I should have been telling DH off for eating them all to soon at least a week ago. Goodness knows how I'll cope cooking a full christmas dinner on Sunday! At least there is only us, and no extra people to worry about.

vallinnapod · 21/12/2011 12:51

I sympathise TinselFanjo I have no idea where most of my time goes. It took me all day to wrap one present Blush and I still don't really know why!

MightilyChristmassyOats · 21/12/2011 19:48

I haven't wrapped any of my presents yet! Just about got the cards done in time for last post... the days just go.

TinselFanjo has to be the best MN christmas name Xmas Grin

CuriosityCola · 22/12/2011 16:23

I am being unreasonable on Aibu Grin. Under sister's wedding.

Nearly organised for Christmas. Agreed it is harder to prep this year

vallinnapod · 23/12/2011 13:53

What the hell is in breast milk that causes poo to stain so badly?! It's awful!
