Glad you approve of the house Oooggs Grin

MrsY · 17/03/2012 08:39

I feel like we've been potty training for ever. We kept trying and backing off when it was obvious she wasn't ready. She's always had the interest, but not the physical control. At the moment, we're doing it casually when we're at home and it's working well. She's doing really well, but I can't help feeling that each time we have to put a nappy on to go out, we're taking a step backwards. I think we need to do 3/4 days of staying in and doing it all the time, but not sure I can cope with that at the moment! Might wait until J can take a few days off work!

SR - great news on DP's work. What is it he's going to be doing?

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 17/03/2012 11:08

MrsY - I'd wait till after no 2 arrives if I were you. We did that with DS1 and didnt have any backsliding when Danny arrived...

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 18/03/2012 18:34

Happy mothers day everyone - hope you all had a lovely day. DS1 and Danny decided to treat me by being my little helpers all day - setting table, laundry etc - all v cute.

SummerRain · 20/03/2012 15:37

Mrsy- he's an IT technician so he'll be running a PC repair shop. Just ordered 250 free business cards from vistaprint for him so it all feels very real now!

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 22/03/2012 08:06

Hope all goes well with the new business SR! Bet you end up being DP's accountant on top of everything else you do too Grin

Danny is going through an extremely talkative stage - mostly bossing everyone around. So far this morning I have been ordered to have a picnic with his toys, watching him do his acrobatics and told to leave a room. Sigh. I would say its just a phase but suspect the bossiness may be here to stay...

Calico1 · 27/03/2012 21:17

Dinky I have serious dining table envy - your house looks fab .
I am still suffering endless DIY trauma. Kitchen almost complete now but we have had nowhere to sit and eat for nearly 2 months.....kids eat at a little play table in the lounge, we eat with plates on our laps. Thank God for the sunshine this week as we have been able to eat at the table in the garden!

DS was 5 on Monday - he looks so grown up now and is a super sweet and sensible boy (dramatically different from his tyrant little sister). We took him to see Stomp in a little theater in Covent Garden on Sunday. Weather was lovely so we had a little picnic by the fountain in Russell Square - made me miss living in London.

SR - good news about your DP's new job.

What's everyone doing over Easter?

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 28/03/2012 09:09

Thanks Calico - I absolutely love my kitchen (and the dining table is the big one DH and I've been hankering after for years). I'm sure your kitchen is going to be amazing when its done - after taking over 2 months it HAS to be worth the wait! Are you going to be putting DH to work over Easter to finish it off? Happy belated birthday to your DS - sounds like you had a really lovely day celebrating. Was thinking about taking Danny and DS1 to see Stomp - did L enjoy it?

We're off to the Isle of Wight over Easter - typically its just as the glorious weather out there is due to break! Still v excited though - have never been and we're taking MIL (who is lovely and the boys adore) with us so should be able to sneak away for some grown up time with DH too.

Calico1 · 28/03/2012 22:13

Lilian loved the show but she has been lucky enough to see it a couple of times - my BIL is one of the cast, so we go and see it whenever he is playing in London as usually he is touring overseas. So, I think seeing their favourite uncle on stage is a big plus! It is very loud (obviously) so not for sensitive types but also funny - my two were screaming with laughter. Show lasts about 1hr 45mins and Lilian did get a bit fidgety but we managed to keep her in her seat with the help of some chocolate raisins.

I used to go to the Isle of Wight quite often as a child and I loved it - hope you have a great time and get some child free time too.

DH is so busy with work at the moment that I doubt much progress will happen in the kitchen this Easter....sigh

oooggs · 29/03/2012 19:52

Hi Calico, our dts are 5 today (our little ones are close in age) I am shattered, dh is away and it has been hard work

Anyway we are off to the New Forest for a brek. I love the Isle of Wight, right now I would go almost anywhere Wink

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 29/03/2012 21:08

Had a fun Hmm day today - Danny woke up in a grump and totally out of sorts demanding to be carried everywhere, left him with nanny and instructions to give calpol if he has a temperature - nanny called at noon to say he still had a high temperature post calpol and couldnt walk complaining of pain in his leg and abdomen - called GP and they saw him as an emergency then sent him to A&E so left work to go be with him and then spent 6 hours in A&E so they could check him over and test his wee to be told its possibly viral, maybe some form of infection, and should pass and if it doesnt to go back to see a consultant. Sigh. Poor child was shattered - as am I - so off to bed now. Definitely dont want another day like today again.

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 29/03/2012 21:08

ps Happy birthday to your dts Oooggs and enjoy your break x

Calico1 · 30/03/2012 09:22

oooggs - hope DTs had a lovely birthday. Enjoy your New Forest break!

Dinky - poor Danny!! What a nightmare. Hope he gets better before you head off to the IoW.

Just dropped DS off at school and realised that it is a non-uniform day. Had no notification - all other parents knew as 'they always do this on the last day of term' and DS is the one of only two children in the school who hasn't got / had an older sibling there (tiny school). Again and again the school doesn't bother to tell me basic stuff as they assume everyone knows these things Angry. Cue me running back home with sobbing DS to grab something for him to wear. Deep breath......

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 30/03/2012 15:28

Oh Calico - been there, done that with DS1! I hate it when schools dont effectively communicate. Fortunately you're not too far away from the school...

SilveryMoon · 31/03/2012 09:17

Hi.
I really need to find the time to MN. Miss you guys.
How are you all?
Gonna hhaave a quick skim and catch up a bit x

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 03/04/2012 22:04

Hey SM - nice to see you on and hope all good with you and your boys. In isle of wight for easter with an ill Danny - fortunately he seems to be getting better but not the most relaxing of holidays so far... Hope you all have good Easters.

oooggs · 04/04/2012 08:32

Calico, dcs don't go to a really small school (smallest in the area though) but communication is dire!! I help there 1 morning a week just to keep abreast of what is going on.

SilveryMoon · 04/04/2012 10:11

Everything is good here.
I've just spent a few days in Glasgow meeting my new nephew. Left the boys at home with dp.

Nothing really exciting to share, just had parents evening for ds1 and had his school report. He is doing really well, so very pleased.

Dinky Hope you are having a nice time in IoW and Danny continues to get better.

to everyone

MOSagain · 10/04/2012 11:15

hello all, hope all ok and had a lovely Easter.
Dinky hope D is much better now
SR congratulations on DPs new job, hope it goes well.
DH back to work today after 10 days on holiday and seems to be enjoying his new job so far. It is a HUGE relief him getting this job, the months of no work and constant rejections put a lot of pressure on us. We've been going to counselling one evening a week for 4 weeks and it seemed to be working although it was quite stressful at times on holiday as he gets very impatient with kids and me and so a lot of shouting Sad
Fingers crossed he will settle down a bit now back home and I'm counting the hours til our session tomorrow night as it always calms me down.

DC1 and 2 back today which will be lovely as they've been with their dad over easter. DC3 and 4 very excited.

Take care everyone x

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 10/04/2012 12:28

Glad things are good with you SM and hopefully on the up for you MOS - sounds like the counselling was/is a good idea. IOW holiday wasnt all that relaxing - DS1 was ill, Danny then got chickenpox!, DH was ill and yesterday I came down with viral bloody laryngitis. It feels like I'm swallowing knives everytime I swallow saliva. Still, on the bright side, it will help me lose the pounds piled on from comfort eating over easter...

oooggs · 11/04/2012 18:49

Hello

SilveryMoon · 12/04/2012 09:19

Hi oooggs How are you?
It's getting very quiet on here isn't it?
I haven't been on MN for ages! I remember a time when I thought I wouldn't be able to get through the day without frequently reading through active convos.
lol.
Everything ok here. Gonna have a quiet day today before tomorrow making a start on getting ready to all go back to school.
Dp is going away with work for 3 weeks, so that'll be fun!

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 12/04/2012 12:36

How are you getting on at your school SM? Is L due to start at the nursery at J's school next September? We're due to hear if Danny has a place at DS1's school in the nursery - school has just had a terrible ofsted inspection though so not entirely sure if its going to be its usually massively oversubscribed self... enjoy your quiet day.

StillOnTheLine · 12/04/2012 14:09

good luck with danny getting a place dinky. I got a full time nursery place at C's school which is a big relief although I heard today that some people that have been given a full time place have been rung up to see if they'll waive their offer and take a part time place. Most odd and luckily I haven't had the call.

SilveryMoon · 12/04/2012 14:31

Hi dinky
Things are getting better at school.
I have been moved into another class now and am much happier.
I haven't been interviewed yet, but hoping that will happen after I show that I can work well in a different setting and the problems experienced in early years was not just me iyswim.

Yes, Luke is registered at the nursery at J's school for next September. They don't confirm the placement until quite late though. Think I heard that jacob has his place there in the June.

Bad ofsted? Hmmm. Have you seen the ofsted report?
I decided on the school that J attends because it had a really good ofsted report , but since he has started there, I have heard that the school is terrible about bullying, it seems they don't do much about it, the school has a bit of a bad reputation and a lot of the families are seen to be pure scum.
I know you get that everywhere, but some of these mums (on the occasions I have been at the school at drop off or collection time) are wearing what appears to be pj bottoms and fake uggs, they are swearing (I know I swear a lot, but don't consider myself a scum-bag) very loudly across the playground, and there are children there that you look at and know that no way would you want your children mixing with them.
I know that sounds bad and like I am a bit stuck up (which I'm not) but that's just what I see, but at the moment J loves school and is doing really well.
His last parents evening was fab and his report was fantastic. So much improvement from last term, so I am happy enough with it.
The latest ofsted for his school said that attendance was poor.

SOTL That is odd! Why would you take a part time place if you already had a full time one? lol
