I was going to bring the older two to mass but I've spent the last two weeks ill with a nasty sinus bug that hasn't quite cleared yet.... tbh I'm finiding it difficult to motivate myself to move across the room atm so going out in the rain to mass with 2 hyper children just isn't an option!

Bring on the Bailey's Xmas Wink

oooggs · 25/12/2011 03:21

It is still Christmas Eve here in Florida so before I head to bed I would like to wish all the fab febbers a wonderful Christmas and especially to our new addition, well done Markstretch x

drinkystinkyyuletidegubbins · 26/12/2011 22:37

Congrats Markstretch!

Hope all had a good xmas - Danny and DS1 loved it. Have to admit I've resorted to taking to drink to cope with the stress of xmas - and coping with BIL's rather rude ways (who refuses to eat lunch at all on boxing day because they went out and ate a croissant at starbucks just before lunchtime of their own volition?).

Calico1 · 27/12/2011 22:45

Ooh brilliant news Markstretch

Good Xmas here too - we were in Brighton on Christmas Day - down on the beach after lunch which was fab. DS and Lilian seem happy with their presents from Santa - though DS's fave thing has been a whoopee cushion which was in his stocking (I'm wondering why I bothered spending £££ on all the other stuff he got).

Lilian has been little miss tantrum- probably over excited and too much chocolate but she was actually in such a rage with me (for taking her cardi off Hmm) that she was taking a run-up in order to punch me really hard!

Dinky your BIL does sound a bit bonkers - you can't pick your family eh?!

SantaAteAllTheBiscuits · 29/12/2011 13:03

Congrats MarkStretch Grin

ok-ish Christmas here, older kids have been hyper as hell and it's sort of put a dampener on the whole thing to have to be yelling at them so much, not helped by the fact that I can't shake this damn cold.

A was a star though.... I think he expected to see Santa on the night so whenever anyone asks him if Santa came he looks confused and says 'No' but he's happy with his presents. We gave all of them books and pjs on Christmas eve and he was so in love with his books when he came down Christmas morning he walked right by all the presents to get his books!

Happy new year fab febbers! Here's hoping to a good 2012!

Luke is 3 in less than 3 weeks so have settling in sessions at pre school & potty training this month Shock

Due to jet lag we dragged the children out of bed at 11 am!! Best get that sorted before school on Wednesday!

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2012 15:53

Happy New year fab febbers Grin
3 weeks oooggs wow. It's gone so quick hasn't it? What's L getting for his birthday?

oooggs · 01/01/2012 16:53

Hi SM, Luke is having a balance bike, hard when he has 2 older brothers to get something different!

SilveryMoon · 01/01/2012 17:11

Know what you mean!
My Luke got a proper bike for xmas, but he doesn't really have the leg strength to peddle yet, he kind of pumps the peddles, but the bike moves so all is good.
My Luke is getting a nintendo ds for his birthday. he loves playing Jacob's but Jacob isn't always in the mood to share!

dinkystinky · 03/01/2012 15:39

Wow - cant believe your L is 3 so soon Oooggs - but Danny is fast behind him I guess... Hope you had a fabulous holiday and the jetlag passes soon.

Hope everyone is having a better start to 2012 than me. I managed to fall down the stairs this morning -carrying Danny who was recovering from a tantrum (who thank god didnt get hurt at all) - and bust my left leg (hopefully its just ligament damage as the xrays didnt show any bone fractures) so spent most of this morning in A&E. Thank god DH had just gone to work so could turn round and take me there within 10 minutes -and our nanny arrived just after our fall. Danny and DS1 were stars getting me a blanket and some frozen peas and my phone so I could call DH.

SantaAteAllTheBiscuits · 03/01/2012 15:50

dinky Shock - how scary that it happened on your own with the kids... glad to hear the boys are paramedics in the making Smile Hope it heals up soon, ligament damage is nasty, my dad did the ligaments in his leg a few months back and is still limping Sad

SM... A has appropriated dd's DS for himself so she's going to get a new (secondhand!) one for her birthday, the touchscreen on her one was knackered anyway. We're thinking of getting A a kid's tablet for his birthday as he's really techy and loves the touchscreen on dp's phone. Need to get some bills cleared first though!

oooggs... how was florida? We don't even have jet lag as an excuse and weren't up much earlier today Blush

SilveryMoon · 04/01/2012 20:28

dinky hope you are ok Sad Big well done to the boys for being so helpful after your fall though.
SR Ds1 got a ds for his 4th birthday in august, he only got a brand new one because I was so so skint that I could only get him something on credit!
Luke might get a secondhand/reconditioned one.

Calico1 · 05/01/2012 09:32

Happy New Year all!
Ouch Dinky - hope you are on the mend already.
Ooogs how was the holiday?

Kids back at school and pre-school this morning - phew! Need to get all the Xmas stuff down and put away before they are back. They wanted to keep it all up and were horrified when I suggested that we started to clear it away.

Trying again with potty training Lilian - no success at all yet. After four days of no nappies we still haven't achieved a wee on the potty....I don't think she is ready as she seems to have no concept of needing to go and wets herself even if she is standing next to the potty......sigh. I thought girls were supposed to be easier than boys?

SantaAteAllTheBiscuits · 05/01/2012 12:30

Not my girl calico. She didn't grasp it fully til she was well gone 4 and in school already Hmm

Am trying to be zen like about A and potty training but I could really do without shelling out 12 euros a week for nappies!

SM.... the way my finances are it could very well be an overpriced new DS on credit she ends up getting.... although with hers and ds1's big christmas presents still not paid for that could be a slippery slope Hmm

Calico1 · 05/01/2012 12:41

Yes, indeed - I was hoping to cross nappies off the weekly shopping bill.....
I'll see if things improve this week, if not back to nappies again for a little while and I'll ignore my MIL's unhelpful comments. DS was easy in comparison!

Just picked up Lilian from pre-school and she hasn't noticed that the tree and Xmas decs are all gone!

oooggs · 05/01/2012 19:15

Started Luke this afternoon, time will tell ;o)

Dd has been the worst so far to train and she still wets herself now at nearly 5! Her twin brother trained himself.

oooggs · 05/01/2012 19:17

And the holiday was fab, I now know all the pros and cons of taking children aged 8 and under to Florida. In hindsight would have done a few things differently

oooggs · 06/01/2012 21:23

Day 1 potty training today!

SilveryMoon · 07/01/2012 07:58

How's the potty training going oooggs?

oooggs · 07/01/2012 14:59

Yesterday he was fantastic, 2 accidents and The rest of the wees in the toilet and a poo in the potty.

Today is fine but the poo was in his pants, wees are good though. He stands up at the big toilet like his brothers.

This is my worst part of parenting so far but he is being easier than the other. Dd still has lots of accidents now at nearly 5!

SantaAteAllTheBiscuits · 07/01/2012 16:17

Don't worry oooggs, our girls sound pretty similar in that department and it was when she was 5 that dd finally snapped out of it. Night time is another matter, she's 7 in a few weeks and still wetting the bed most nights.

Good luck with the potty training Smile

In A's case we've decided that as we've lost the mama milk, daytime naps and the dummy over the last couple of months and his speech is flying, and he's getting more confidant, we're on a roll and it would be a shame if PT pressure undid any of that. So for now we're just leaving it up to him to figure out when he's ready as that's how we've managed all the other stuff.... he doesn't like being told what to do one bit this child but if left to his own devices tends to surprise us. Case in point; he hasn't had his dummy for 5 days now, he handed it to me on Tuesday and hasn't asked for it back since.... which considering just last week he was still trying to eat dinner with it in is nothing short of a miracle!

oooggs · 07/01/2012 18:49

Fab news for A with the dummy. Luke seems reluctant to give things up. First the grobag, then the cot sides! Only doing toilet training as starts pre school in 2 weeks. Now the bottle at bedtime at bedtime is a different story Hmm

Ds1 is just 8 and is on medication for bed wetting (can be referred from 7) as not producing hormone. Ds2 (twin 2) is fine and dry on own accord. Dd (twin 1) is following the same course as ds1. Twins are 5 in march.

Been told it can be hereditary with the hormone thing and dh had problems as well. So at least I know why.

MarkStretch · 08/01/2012 20:37

Hello everyone!

I am so sorry I haven't been on to let you all know how we got on, I know a few of you saw via FB, thanks for your congratulations. Soooo, baby Ivy was born on Dec 23rd by elective C-section. She weighed in at 7lb 2oz so the smallest of my 3 babies and so cute!

The c-section went ok, Dh and I were in at 7am and unfortunately we were third on the list so we had a lot of waiting around which was the worst bit, oh the NERVES. Then they finally came to get me and we went into main theatres rather than the obstetric theatres as these were being decorated. Unfortunately it meant they also had some rather shiny lights in which I could see my reflection on the operating table so the two surgeons spent some time faffing around trying to arrange a screen, in the end I told them I just wouldn't look!

They said they would take their time as it was my 3rd CS and I would probably have some scar tissue so she took around 15 minutes to be born. They also had to use forceps to deliver her as she had got herself into a funny position (I'm sure the thought of that is worse than the reality but just the word forceps makes me wince). DH announced that we had a girl and she was taken off to be dried. I had asked for skin to skin after delivery and they were really good, moved all my ECG dots and popped her onto my chest where she stayed for about the next half an hr. She had a good look about and then to my surprise starting rooting about for some boob.

They let us out on Christmas eve, so only 31 hrs after my CS! I was a little nervous about that, even more nervous about my little brother running down the hospital corridoors pushing me in a wheelchair to the car (!) and the journey down in a very squeaky lift but we survived! It was lovely to be home and to be with DD1 and DS on Christmas morning.

So, now I am in the land of sleepness nights and tiny babies all over again! Grin

Calico1 · 09/01/2012 11:30

Markstretch that is lovely, and brilliant that you were back at home for Christmas Day. Hope everyone looked after you and you didn't have to lift a finger. Love the name too (was high on my list before we decided on Lilian).
Good luck with the sleep!

dinkystinky · 10/01/2012 09:23

Congratulations Markstretch - lovely birth story and lovely name. Hope Frank and DD1 are getting used to their little sister and she's being an angel and sleeping loads for you.
