Sorry Oooggs - lost the bloody camera connector thing for the laptop again (that makes the second one I've lost) so still cant upload my fricking photos. V annoyed with myself.

Aah Calico your DS is so cute asking for a frisbee. Hope you enjoyed your liein and got your work all done ok.

dinky, you can buy sd card readers for peanuts and it's much less hassle to pull the card out of the camera and plug it into to laptop than to mess about with the wires and all that.

In fact, check and see if your laptop has an inbuilt card reader... mine does and it's far from top of the range!

dinkystinky · 29/11/2011 11:07

Good idea SR --will give that a go! Otherwise is proving an expensive habit of mine losing camera connection leads!

hello all, just popping in to see how everyone is. All good here although not enjoying this cold windy weather.
Been a bit manic the past few weeks helping organise DD's school Christmas fair so will be glad when that is over and I can reclaim my dining room which is currently the home for all of santa's grottos presents!

what are you all getting your little ones (or not so little!) for Christmas. We've bought H a (second hand from ebay) wooden train set to go on the Thomas play table we bought in the summer and an ELC construction set which looks like fun. He is obsessed with cars and trains and in fact anything with wheels!

dinkystinky · 29/11/2011 16:38

Hi MoS. Sounds like it will be a good school fair. Hmm, DS1 is in my very bad books (the monkey is off school today for a cough - his teacher claimed he was too ill to go in Hmm - and has drawn all over his bedroom wall in crayon) so will be getting not very much for christmas at this rate as the christmas kitty will be going on redecorating his sodding room. Bah humbug.

Danny is getting playdoh and a hide and seek peppa pig toy (he hides his toys all the time as it is so will be nice to have one that helps you find it when hidden).

Toy guitar, Dash, Bash & Ferdinand wooden trains & odds & sods for Luke. Then birthday 20th January as well!

drinkystinkyyuletidegubbins · 01/12/2011 15:12

Just testing out my new xmas related nickname (well my recycled one anyway)

Hope all well with everyone. Danny was VERY excited to get to open his peppa pig advent calendar this morning... less excited about the chocolate he found in it though. Weird child.

oooggs · 05/12/2011 06:32

Blimey! Busy weekend everyone?!?

SummerRain · 05/12/2011 09:48

Hey oooggs.

Busy weekend, plus I have an assignment due next week that I've barely even started yet so trying to avoid the lure of MN Grin

Two bits of good news though.... firstly I got a distinction on the Science in Context module I finished in October. Delighted with myself as I really thought I'd dropped marks in the EMA Grin

And secondly, A stayed voluntarily with my dad yesterday!!! It's the first time he's been without both me and dp since he was in SCBU... even at toddler group or friends' houses if he loses sight of me for a split second he has a meltdown, but yesterday we popped into my dad's shop on our way to see Santa and A decided all of his own accord to stay and play on the computer instead of coming with us Shock Even when my mother popped in he refused to go with her to meet up with us and stayed with my dad. I'm so pleased.... I was starting to think he'd be glued to my side until he was 18!

drinkystinkyyuletidegubbins · 05/12/2011 11:43

SR - Congrats on your distinction! Brilliant stuff!!Xmas Grin And aah about A staying with your dad. He's growing up.

Yup did indeed have a busy weekend Oooggs - went to see Kate Rusby in concert at the Barbican on Friday which was excellent and v christmassy, DS1's christmas dance show on Saturday morning then 3 hour drive to Lincoln xmas fair (lovely but soooooooooooooo packed! DS1 and Danny loved it though) then on to my folks for dinner and there on sunday then back home. DS1 and Danny are soooooooo excited about christmas and totally adorable over the weekend. They got led light magic wand (Danny) and cutlass(DS1) from the fair and kept turning the lights out for a christmas disco to christmassy folks songs last night Xmas Grin

SummerRain · 05/12/2011 15:10

Sounds like a brilliant, if hectic, weekend dinky Xmas Grin

We were at a xmas craft fair yesterday too but there wasn't much of interest.... shame as I was hoping to see some nice jewellery for dp to get me for xmas. The boots i had my eye on in Next are completely sold out so I have to find something else for him to get me Sad

School xmas fair on sunday next... and as I'm the new PA secretary more running around for me!

MOSagain · 06/12/2011 08:22

hello all,
SR lovely to see you. Congratulations on your distinction, fabulous new and yay for A staying with your dad.

Very busy week/end here. DD's christmas fayre (and DH's) birthday last saturday and just as I was getting ready to load 5 boxes of pressies for santa's grotto into the car I put my back out! I've found its getting worse the colder it gets and a few times last week I had to carry H on walk back from school/nursery (to stop the little shit running away) and that seems to have caused major problems. Anyway, bending over to pick something up and it just 'went'. Managed to get DH to load the car and get me to the school and somehow survived the day (with the help of copious amounts of painkillers and mulled wine) but suffered for it Sunday when I could barely move. Fayre went really well though and on my calculations, 182 little darlings saw santa in a 3 hour period and the pressies went down very well. A few people commented that it was much better organised than last year (even colour co-ordinated paper so girls 4 - 6 in pink with pink ribbons etc!) - how sad am I! Anyway, job done so I'm happy and a much better profit than previous years. DD1 did some facepainting which went down well too so we've done our bit.

Managed to hobble to school and back with kids yesterday (thank god H was in nursery 8.30 til 3 and they agreed to keep him until 5pm which made my life sooooooooooo much easier). The normal 5 min walk home took me 25 mins and I was crying by the time I got home. Just dosed up on painkillers (no mulled wine sadly as may have to drive later) so am hoping todays walk won't be so bad. H has his 'music bus' playgroup class this morning so am hoping he will behave.

Got christmas tree up Saturday an although rather on the large side it does look lovely. DS1 is very much looking forward to coming home for Christmas so hopefully my back will get better soon and I'll be ready to deal with christmas.

How is everyone else doing? All my shopping bought and mostly wrapped now thank god as I couldn't face going into town now. Went one day last week and it was manic by 11am!

drinkystinkyyuletidegubbins · 06/12/2011 10:31

MOS - get to your doctor. You need some killer heavy duty painkillers and for them to take a look at what's going on there. hope your back feels better soon.

MOSagain · 06/12/2011 10:47

dinky thanks but I've learnt through experience that the dr is a waste of time. IF you can get past the battleaxe/receptionist and get an appointment it is normally 10 to 14 days and then you get to see a newly qualified (or american part qualified) dr whose eyes glaze over when you try to explain medical history (spinal fusion etc etc) one dr once tried to refer me for a MRI scan which I had to point out could possibly kill me due to various metal nuts, bolts and implants Shock

I saw a dr in August who referred me for 'urgent' physio for my shoulder which she said was at risk of becoming 'frozen' if not treated quickly. I am still waiting for an appointment! Might try to see if I can get an appointment with my old chiropractor though and see if he can help.

How are things in dinky house?

drinkystinkyyuletidegubbins · 06/12/2011 11:19

God MoS your doctors sound terrible! Hope the pain subsides soon (cant believe you're surviving just on ibuprofen Xmas Shock) and you get to see your old chiro and he can help.

Things good in the dinky household - we have the builders in doing the snagging works so the aim is to get them out of the house by 17th so can then get the tree and put the xmas decorations up. Otherwise we may be decorating them like xmas builder elves too Xmas Grin

Calico1 · 09/12/2011 22:11

SR great news about your distinction!

MOS as a bad back sufferer myself you have my sympathy - hope it eases up v soon.

Just had a mad busy week of Christmas Fairs, nursery, school and pre-school parties, nativity plays (t'was fab - DS was a king) and various other stuff. DS and DD are both exhausted and we've still got weeks to go before Christmas!

Tried to do some Christmas shopping today but had to take Lilian with me and she really wasn't in the mood for going around the shops so not much achieved. Came home to find that ParcelForce had left a huge parcel on the doorstep which had blocked the cat flap so poor kitty had been frantic to get out and in her distress has shredded the carpet near the door and then pooed in a cupboard - nice Angry. ParcelForce had been kind enough to pop a card through the door to let me know that they had left a parcel 'in a safe place' for me. As if I wouldn't have noticed it...Confused

drinkystinkyyuletidegubbins · 12/12/2011 15:42

Soooooooo jealous of your DS being a king Calico - I was always a shepherd and aspired to the heady heights of kingdom! Sorry Parcelforce cocked up the rest of your day - poor kitty!

Had an up and down weekend in dinky household - my sisters depression is back with a vengeance, mad day of running around for xmas fair and swim school and errands on sat then roundhouse in the evening with sister her husband and DH (DH got dragged up on stage, v funny!), then sunday Danny ill with ear infection, lots of errands to do, DH shaved off an eyebrow (dont ask) so had to sort it out, xmas fair/market down on the southbank then christmas cards being finally signed and sent out - so part christmassy and part stressy!

MOSagain · 13/12/2011 12:49

Xmas Confused how on earth can you accidentally shave off an eyebrow?

All been manic here, Christmas shows/carol concerts/ballet shows. DD2 very stroppy and grumpy (actually, so is DD1) no doubt down to tiredness. I want a rest. DS1 coming back on Saturday which will be lovely.

How is everyone else doing?

Calico1 · 13/12/2011 13:13

Yes Dinky do tell about the eyebrow!

DS actually wanted to be a sheep in the nativity as he thought the sheep mask was the coolest - I managed to convince him not to swap...

Arrgghh - currently a sleet storm here - yuk

SummerRain · 13/12/2011 13:49

Gale force winds here and all the fence panels are blowing across the fields.... had to run out in a snow shower a while ago and fetch back the playhouse which was flying away Shock

No christmas spirit here til I finish this damn assignment... due on thursday and I still have 500+ words of a statistical analysis report to do

dinky....... you really are going to have to explain the eyebrow?!?!

drinkystinkyyuletidegubbins · 13/12/2011 14:55

I said not to ask - really, was so totally silly and involved a slip of an electric razor when shaving - not DH's finest hour...

Hope you get your report done ok SR - and have anchored the playhouse.

MOSagain · 13/12/2011 15:35

christ, is your DH extremely hairy if he was shaving that close to eyebrows? I still struggle to understand how that can have happened. Are you sure he wasn't out on a stag weekend?

SR good luck with your assignment, DS is struggling to get a very boring one on constitutional law done by tomorrow. PS, you need to change your name really, its not very seasonal Xmas Grin

SantaAteAllTheBiscuits · 13/12/2011 16:04

Is this better?

bossy cow Xmas Wink

dinky.... I bet he did that daft thing where you think about doing something stupid and before you know it your hand has moved and you've bloody done it. We've all done it at some point (well, not necessarily eyebrows, but I cut a fringe into my hair on a momentary whim a couple of years back, took fecking ages to grow out!)

drinkystinkyyuletidegubbins · 13/12/2011 17:16

Yup - that was exactly what he did Santa! He was also - for reasons known only to him- trying to shave in the semi dark while doing something else. He should have known an attempt at multitasking could only end ni tears....

oooggs · 13/12/2011 19:48

Luke called hail 'ice crumbs' today - love it Grin

off on holiday on friday - zoomed round really fast MOS!!!!!!!!
